I'm paying $2.50 less overall, as well as the $1.58 GRR instead of the $6.95 SAF. I also get 50 more daytime but only because the +100 was a bargained free bonus. I don't get your 100 long distance minutes either. The way the credits are applied to my plan, they gave me $10 off the retentions Value Pack (2500txt + CID + voicemail), and then $5 off the 500MB data plan. Which makes it $17.50 + $10 - $10 + $25 - $5.

Nice. It really depends on the CSR. I've seen in RFD how some individuals would straight up receive the 17.50 voice plan along with their monthly credit.

E.g.

17.50 EPP
10.00 Retention Value Package
25.00 Data
Credits for Unli Network
Credits 100 min LD
Credits for Unli Incoming.
Credits from their Monthly Plan
GRRF waived.

They would be paying just around $30 before taxes... Then again, East coast and especially Prairie Clients get the most discounts.

Can someone clear something up for me... If I have a retentions plan, is it possible to then go to myrogers online and add something? Let's say I were to add my5. Would this cancel out anything on my retentions plan..?

Renxo 06-01-2010 02:54 PM

nns 06-12-2010 02:37 PM

This is what I just negotiated:
-3 year contract
-200 mins
-unlimited evening + weekend after 6pm
-rogers to rogers free
-150 MB data plan
-free first 2500 txts sent
-unlimited received txt messages (I think everybody on Rogers gets this..)
-enhanced voicemail
-call display + name display
-6 mo. unlimited local calling (+50 or 100 mins after the 6 month period ends)

$50.49 - $10 credit = $40.49 tax included

Good? Bad?

For about the same plan as yours, I'm paying $2.50 less overall, as well as the $1.58 GRR instead of the $6.95 SAF. I also get 50 more daytime but only because the +100 was a bargained free bonus. So you are paying $37.50+1.58+tax?

sas 06-24-2010 04:24 PM

I didn't really push hard for anything and the CSR reviewed my account and gave me the following:

300 Daytime Minutes
Evenings and Weekends @ 6pm
Caller Id
Voicemail
2500 Text Msgs.
500mb Data
1000 Long Distance Minutes (I fly to Toronto often)

For $50.08

I probably could have got more but didn't really want to bargain to death and it meets my needs. The CSR was the one actually throwing stuff my way lol

sas 06-25-2010 09:10 PM

Update: Added the following to my plan for the same price; $50.08 after taxes.

Rogers to rogers network calling
Early evenings at 5pm

Pretty happy with what i got, no idea why i grabbed the 1000 long distance minutes considering my total usage each month is around 1100 mins. But I'm sure Wind has better plans.

^ I was using you plan as a guide line and they came up with this for me.

350 day time
6pm evenings and weekands
2500 text
call display
voice mail
500 mb

53.29 taxes in. probably could of got a little more off but i was way to lazy to sit on hold for 10 min at a time.

Lomac 07-11-2010 05:36 PM

Has anyone successfully gotten a decent price for phones using retentions? I upgraded my phone over a year ago (but I'm still a few months short of two years), and unfortunately I'm in need of a new phone after my iPhone got dunked in a lake. I don't want to pay full price for one, but I don't mind signing for another three year contract if it means getting a price closer to the ones aimed at new customers (ie: 150 for an X10 for a 3 year contract, etc)

Szeto 07-18-2010 02:02 PM

$30 Mega Time
Unlimited Incoming
Unlimited Incoming Local Calls
Unlimited Network Calling (Rogers-Rogers, Rogers-Fido, Rogers-Rogers Home or Biz)
100 Weekday/1000 Eve/Wkend
50 Bonus Minutes

$35 BB Data Value Pack
500 MB
Caller ID
WhoCalled
Enhanced Voicemail

$0 Retention
Unlimited Picture or Video Msgs.
Unlimited Text Messages

$12 Talk Asia Saver

Just shy of $100 tax in, not a bad plan I guess but could be better :(

CP.AR 07-19-2010 09:20 PM

My Plan (I've been with rogers for 3 years, I have 2 months left on my contract)

EDIT: they finally sorted out this mess out for me. My plan as follows.

200 Daytime Minutes
Unlimited Weekend/Night (9PM-7AM)
Unlimited Text incoming/2500 Outgoing
My5
Caller ID
Call Waiting
Voicemail
No SAF

150mb data $15.00/month

Also got an Xperia X10 for 99.99+35 admin fees

3 year plan

$20.00 (Voice) + $15.00 (data) + Tax + 2.58 Government Fee = $42.08 Taxes incl.
compared to my bullshit My5+5 student plan that racked up to $45+/month after all the add-ons and received text messages, this is as good as it gets

Put this on hold for now, Rogers is being ridiculous right now and left a huge mess in my file
Spoiler!

I'm going to try and get one of theses crazy plans Been on Rogers for 3 years and I've upgraded my phone once which meant 3 more yrs and I might upgrade again so I can get either the new iPhone or if the release the 9800 I'll get that. So what is it you guys are doing calling customer relations? And just telling them you want this and that on your plan or your gunna leave?
Posted via RS Mobile

CP.AR 07-21-2010 02:27 PM

I just told them I was going to cancel, since I could just go onto a family plan with Telus and get xxx for $30 dollars (be sure this is realistic).

My5 is not usually compatible with retentions plans. Since they screwed up royally with mine, I was put on hold for a good 20 minutes and spoke with the supervisor of supervisors, whereby she made an exception and put my5 back onto my plan

I had to pay the admin fee too, on top of the 149.99.

Now that I think back, I think I remember them offering it to me for 149.99 I kept telling them how ridiculous it is that a new customer pays $99.99, yet an existing customer has to pay a "loyalty premium". I basically kept restating that fact, and eventually got it

nns 07-22-2010 04:44 PM

I see. When I got my X10 less than a month ago, it was going for 149.99 for new customers. But now I see Rogers is offering it for 99.99. Maybe I should call in and ask for a price match.

DC5-S 07-24-2010 08:06 AM

Guys I'm in Ontario and using data. Will I be charged roaming??
Posted via RS Mobile

CP.AR 07-24-2010 09:58 AM

ooo... hard to say - it's best that you give rogers a call on *611 (even if you are they might let you switch right onto a "canada wide data" plan and put the use into that rather than rape you on roaming charges

eFx[A2C] 07-24-2010 06:40 PM

Called in earlier this week and got the 17.50 plan. Not the best compared to RFD but it's good enough for me.

200 Daytime minutes
Unlimited at 6pm/Weekends
Caller ID/Enhanced VM/2500 Texts
17.50+2.58+taxes

nns 07-26-2010 09:35 AM

So any way, I called Rogers to ask for a pricematch because I paid $149.99 for the X10 when it now retails for 99.99 on the same 3 year term. They said that since it's been more than 15 days, and I wasn't elligible for a price match. I think that's pretty stupid. I've been a customer for over 6 years, and they're going to offer some newbie customer a cheaper price because of a technicality.

They transferred me to some guy who is supposedly the manager of billing and customer relations.

Don't you have 30 days to return the phone or something? Or was that the 15 days?

cho 07-26-2010 10:40 AM

Unlimited Eve/Wknd Minutes
200 Weekday Minutes
6PM Early Eve. Calling Option
Call Forward/Trans.Pay Per Use
Van./Vic. Rate Following
BlackBerry (BIS) Svc 500MB
10000 Sent/Unl.Received Txt
10000 Picture or Video Msgs.
Detailed Billing

for 17.50 + 30 for data

17.50 + 30 + 10 + 7 = roughly 71 a month

is there any chance i could get rid of the 7 dollar system access fee??
i have a year and 3 months left in my plan =\
