Anyone have any experiences with Family Plan retentions?

rien 12-12-2010 11:06 PM

How do you convince rogers to give you an early HUP? I got my phone a year ago and I just resigned two 3-yr contracts.

Closest they came was the plan they gave me. Their argument is that the Wind/Mobilicity networks just aren't that good. And, frankly, they're right.

I don't mind the reliability of Rogers' network, and the phone option flexibility I have with them. If you go snowboarding on any of the local mountains, you'll understand.

racerman88 12-19-2010 04:33 PM

right now I have something similar to you. Same price but only local calling.

$35 unlimited local calling
$0 VM pack w/ CID & 2500 texts ($12 waived)
$30 6 Gigs data (-$5 Data credit)

$2.43 GRRF

Total: $69.92

I wonder if they would give me another $15 data credit so that I can pay the same as you?

Alatar 12-19-2010 06:31 PM

I personally didn't need 6gb data, but you can try for another $10 data credit, definitely.

It takes time to get a really good plan.

However, it is accomplishable. Even if you're not entirely finished with your contract.

My contract's expiring in 2 days.

I called them today with only the intention of letting them know that I will be leaving them in two days, and after pressing a series of numbers from their local number I got transfered directly to Retentions.

The rep was a pretty funny guy, I think he was high on Coke.

At first he was all like "Oh noooooooo" and immediately asked me what I wanted and tried to match me with what I want to not leave them.

He offered me (all while talking at a thousand words a minute)

250 or 300 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Network Calling (Rogers to Rogers, Rogers to Fido)
Unlimited Texting, Picture Messaging etc.
500mb Data
Unlimited Evenings starting at 6
Unlimited Incoming Calls
Voicemail + Caller ID

for $45 + $2.43 + tax.

Then I mentioned that I was planning on switching to WIND because they also have Unlimited North American Calling, and he immediately threw in 100 Long Distance Minutes if I needed it.

Pretty good deal imo. What do you guys think?
Should I still switch to Wind for their $40 Unlimited plan?

That's a pretty good plan!

I would try to go for 1GB of data for the same price and it would be amazing.

ask for more minutes too since other provider is giving out unlimited everything! and maybe even an extra 5$ discount!

If you're always in the wind zone, just port.
keep in mind you'll need a new phone that works with their 3g.

generally rogers will call you back within 30 days of you porting/cancelling to try to reacquire you as a customer.

hchang 12-22-2010 02:22 AM

So I called Rogers today to sign on with the plan they offered me, and try to even get another $5 off, but the first rep I spoke to, told me that the first offer given to me "made no sense" and that they couldn't do that. What the fuck. I offered to give the reference number and he told me that it didn't matter.

The original rep I spoke to told me to call back before my contract expires, which is Wednesday. (I called Tuesday afternoon)

The second rep's voice and tone just made me want to jump off a building. How depressing can your voice be? I didn't know that was possible.

I called back again and got another rep that was a lot nicer. I was told that the original plan offered was only exclusively given to me by that rep, and that I was supposed to sign on the spot. She said the best she can do with the same thing offered was for $59.xx WITHOUT tax.

Then I asked about how porting works, and she kept on saying how WIND will not have as good reception, and that they will probably jack up the prices in one year. I told her thats fine and to continue on explaining how porting works, and I was told that I was supposed to give them a 30 day notice prior to porting, so I will still be charged another month after porting.

So basically I'll be fucking throwing money at them for nothing in return. At this point I had steam coming out of my ears, because none of this was mentioned before. She then went over the retention plan she offered me today and asked if I wanted a reference number. I told her that'd be a waste of my ink, hope she'll have a merry christmas and hung up.

Worst customer service ever. You can't withdraw something you've already offered.

I'm calling back tomorrow first thing in the morning to strip my plan of the value packs etc to leave it as minimal as possible for them to charge me for nothing.

No wonder Rogers are nicknamed Robbers.

Never going to be doing business with them ever again.

ninjai123 12-22-2010 06:58 AM

^ call back again and tell them their signals drops on you as well make some bullshiet up see what they can do cause as soon as you leave them they will call you up and offer you shiet lol

optiblue 12-25-2010 01:39 AM

That would have been a sweet plan! I wish I asked for more, but I had 15 months left and wanted iPhone 4 as my 3G was so slow.

racerman88 12-25-2010 10:13 AM

that plan is cheap, looks like he was given the $17.50 plan with credits. I was offered the same plan for $35 after tax and NOT including data. He was getting the data for $10. Not bad.

Grandmaster TSE 01-07-2011 05:43 PM

they don't have the $35 blackberry data package anymore right??

Did the same thing to me, except I signed the contract. Then when my bill came they charged me extra for all the stuff that was supposed to be included. I got told to fuck off because it's already a done deal.

When I ported to wind (which has the same quality reception imo), they charged me the next month + cancellation fee of that month. I called into see wtf they were doing. I talked to some french rep named Samuel, he told me "we've already charged you" when I asked to speak to a manger he goes "we don't forward inactive accounts to managers". I got told to fuck off again.

From the time I signed up 3 years ago, customer service has really fallen off.

with WIND, so far the Customer Service has been pretty good and everyone's been friendly. Only exception was when I called into activate my credit card on post paid... i got a french rep named Sam as well. He was pretty painful to deal with... might just be the french guys named Sam/Samuel lol.

Alll in all, I'm happy I ported... unlimited data/minutes. I never have to worry about my usage and unpredictable bills every month :fullofwin:. Only "down side" was a smaller selection of phone's to choose from.

PlayBoy 01-11-2011 10:36 AM

xpl0sive 01-12-2011 10:29 AM
