Just got off the phone with Rogers.

I got the retentions flex rate data plan.
Basically

$10 for 100mb
if I go over that I get the next tier

$15 for 150mb
if I go over over that I get the next tier

$20 for 500mb
and then
$25 for 1GB

I could have gotten an additional $5 shaven off if I swapped my credit from my 50 bonus minutes to the data and get rid of the bonus minutes... but that means I have to resign my 3 year contract.

yameen 06-08-2011 04:01 PM

this is my current plan right now and i was able to change my rogers to rogers to unlimited networking somehow without extra charge.

275weekday
unlimited networking (rogers to fido/rogers)
early 6pm evenings
2500txt
voicemail
caller id

this is for $27 not including taxes. with taxes it's $31.

i've basically had this same plan for 3 yrs but they say i have a very old plan and they can't give me any extra credits. however, i just talked to them today and they were able to credit my early 6pm evening and switch rogers-rogers to unlimited networking.

another question, if i have unlimited networking, does that mean it doesn't affect my daytime minutes? as in, if i talk 300minutes with a fido user, my daytime is only affected if i talk to someone from bell or telus right? i'm just double checking. it's been so long since i've gone over my minutes because all my friends are rogers, but recently i've been talking to a fido carrier.

thanks!

so you got that flex rate without having to resign a contract?

Is the 6GB going to come back soon?

Yes. That is what unlimited network means. It also applies to roger's lan lines. And they are BSing you about credits.

I have a similar plan to you but for less.

350 Daytime
Unlimited evenings/weekings
5PM to 7AM
Unlimited Network
Call&Name Display
Voicemail
2500 texts outgoing/unlimited incoming

For 17.50 plus tax to be around 23 dollars.

I have the same plan, $17.50+tax+bullshit fee=23~.

Still the cheapest & best phone plan available IMO.

^ is that an old plan or something? no matter who i talk to, over the past 3 reps told me that they cannot give me anymore credit and that the computer system won't allow them. then they told me that anyone who has a better plan had reps that didn't know what they were doing. if i have your above plan, that would be so sweet.

I got this plan over the course of how ever many years I've been with rogers though. It wasn't all negotiate at once. I added on things every once in while to build up to the plan I have currently.

I renewed my contract last year at the beginning of year so my plan is about a year and a half old so no, it isn't really old.

shenmecar 06-13-2011 11:19 AM

thats a really cheap plan!

bakasam 06-13-2011 01:11 PM

Made some minor changes to my plan and the customer relations rep said something about extending my contract a couple more months because hes giving me free shit?

That ever happen to anyone else ?

!Yaminashi 06-13-2011 01:41 PM

For those with 500mb + of data and are hardly paying $60 for their entire plan:

What have you said to rogers to up your data without being charged more?
Ive got 500mb but I wanna up to 1GB :p

Yes this is normal.

I should also note that I was offered 1gb for an extra 20 dollars but turned it down as that is the cost of my entire plan.

However, i asked them to note it on my account so that in case I ever want data, it is there.

my contract with Rogers is up in 3 months, im currently paying a little too much for what I get (after reading this thread, i know. O.O)

Anyways, I know Telus can offer a $25 plan with 300 daytime + 100 bonus, unlim after 6/weekends, unlim msg, and caller id. My mom recently got this plan for her telus phone.

So do you guys who have dealt with Rogers retention think I can use this Telus plan to try and convince rogers to give me the same deal or a better deal for my plan?? I've never dealt with retentions before. Should I wait until my contract expires before I try to negotiate or should I try to negotiate now? I'm really worried that if I screw up, they leave a note on my acc and I cant get a good plan again...

I was offered this plan, but was told that they would not credit me for the voice mail pack. So I went with the unlimited local calling since it was only a little bit more.

J-force 06-20-2011 11:13 AM

do you think rogers would know if you told them,

" hi, I called in a week ago and I was planning on cancelling my contract early but was offered THIS retention plan. Ive made up my mind and want it. Make it happen"

:P:

Ikkaku 06-20-2011 11:39 AM

a good portion of the reps do take note of what they offered, so if it is something completely farfetched from anything they did offer, you may get noted for it.

This is a good way to get your account flagged and say goodbye to any current and future discounts. All CSRs note what they have offered you in their notes and even have a reference number that is associated with those notes. You cannot just call and say "Oh, I want CRS's plan because it's so kick ass. Make it happen".

They'll ask for a reference number or go look through a bunch of your notes and if they cannot find it, they'll just say, we can't find any notes saying that and then check when you called and what the call was about and figure it out then. They can even e-mail the person you were on the phone with the follow up and check with what was said.

So reps have their own decisions on giving out promotional plans? So call different reps until you get the plan you want? lol

To a certain degree, yes.

BaoTurbo 06-26-2011 09:24 PM

Because right now my plan is $30 and come with
- Unlimited text (SMS/MMS/Instant Messaging not from smartphone)
- 150 weekday minutes
- Unlimited calls after 6pm-8am + Weekends
- Voicemail but I didn't activate it cuz its useless
- Caller id

It's a business plan at my mom's workplace and we had a long history of battling it out to get the right price. However now I want data at the price I have now, and I was wondering if I could make some sacrifices just to get data since I have a blackberry now

Nothing is impossible but a data plan for $30 is really pushing the enveloppe. Personally, I have not seen anyone with a plan with data for less than $40. I'm talking about 1-6gbs of data (same pricing) and not the small little 150mb or whatever small denomination.

It would be ridiculous if you could get a plan with that amount of data for 30 dollars and what you have. I know that for around $35, I can get something like 500mbs and at $40 I can get 6gbs. This is all prior to tax but should include the GRF. But then again, i wouldn't be giving up anything so I'm not sure. I just haven't seen any data plans for in the $30 dollar range but it could be because I haven't been actively looking.

I guess you could try your best and hope for a good outcome. I wish I could be of more help but I just haven't seen it done or how it would break down.

BaoTurbo 06-26-2011 09:56 PM

Honestly I havn't either lol. All data plans are $30-$40+ base price. They have the $30 one which gives the unlimited networking plan. Includes unlimited Facebook, twitter, BBM, Whatsapp? but those 3 for sure. I should call them up and ask

Also my cousin has a normal plan and his 3 year contract is up. I was wondering if I can renew his contract for a smartphone with cash on top if needed. Or do I have to take one of those shitty phones they give out

ImportXxX 06-27-2011 01:37 AM

i'm in the process of negotiating again cus my plan is ending aug 1st..so far the offered me this

for 29.85 i get
300 weekdays
unlimited incoming or net work to network
weekends and evening from 6pm
call name id/ voice mail
2500 text

so yah guess its not bad, but i want a little bit of data this time around..

i'm debating to go wind cus they got a unlimted everything with data too for $40.

Any input on wind from any of you that have been on it??
