If you spend most of your time in the lower mainland, then reception won't be an issue. Call quality, internet speed has been great for me, happy I made the switch to Wind. I don't have to check my phone bill every month to see if rogers/fido charged me for some random shit that I don't know about.

With Wind, it's a consistent $40 charge, no surprises and I never have to worry about going over on my minutes/text/data. :fuckyea:

Won't go back to Rogers/Fido unless something even better comes along

Also my cousin has a normal plan and his 3 year contract is up. I was wondering if I can renew his contract for a smartphone with cash on top if needed. Or do I have to take one of those shitty phones they give out

Yup, depends on how many years you sign though, resigning a contract is just the same as opening a new account, except if you resign, you can call retentions up.

BaoTurbo 06-27-2011 07:20 PM

Hmmm excellent. Thanks.

JSALES 06-28-2011 07:58 PM

how are you supposed to go about getting a retentions plan?

Read this thread.

There are several tutorials/walk throughs on how each of us approached the situation.

I've made like 2 walk throughs each time I got a better plan.

ImportXxX 06-28-2011 10:36 PM

hey does anyone know if they would give you a free ps3 if you are to REsign with rogers? or is it just new customers?

:(

I wish I could go with Wind, yet their coverage is spotty where I work in Richmond. My coworker has to go outside to get coverage. Instead I'm on a $55/mn "unlimited" plan with Rogers, and hoping that my first bill doesn't contain any of the usual surprises.

BaoTurbo 07-04-2011 11:07 AM

^ 55/month with tax and all that crap or base $55

Kamui712 07-04-2011 01:24 PM

^^ ya that's unfortunate, I know there's some areas of Richmond and BBY (SFU) that don't have really good reception. Good thing is that WIND is always adding new towers to increase reception. They're still relatively new so they need time to build up the reception/reach that the big 3 have.

Here's their outline coverage right now:

WIND Mobile | Stores & Coverage

The unlimited $40 plan definitely pays off in the long run + no contract means I can just leave if they do start doing weird shit to my account.

I hate how rogers has a contract for your voice plan and then a separate contract for data... so you get hit x2 if you want to cancel... :bluemad:

My office is at No6 and Westminister, well within the coverage zone yet barely able to get a bar or 2 outside, nothing inside. :(

That $40 deal is gone, the best I could do was match my Rogers plan for $55 now. :(

$55 base + GRRF + tax

200 mins
free evenings (6pm)/weekends
unlimited txt
1GB data
MY10
caller id

I'm sure others can do better, yet I'm happy. Under $65/mn total and hopefully there should be no surprise charges.

Last summer when I went down to states they gave me a US data plan for like $10, can't recall on how many MBs it was. They gave it to me for the time I was in the states.

so i just renewed contract in sept and went for the bb 9700. for past month it's been acting up, i did sys restore on mon and wasnt able to reload after the 24 hour period, and then got sand in it so it stopped functioning properly. I call retentions today and ask them to lower my plan to the lowest they can cause i plan on porting number over to telus. they ask why and i say im sick of bb and since if i want a new phone i have to pay outright im going to pay early cancellation fee and take my business over to telus so i can get iphone. basically after talking to rep for a bit i now get
iphone 3gs for 99 + admin fees = 150
200 weekday mins
free eve after 6
free weekends
1gb data
unlimited social networking
unlimited messaging
my 10
for 55/month before taxes and fees

plus i add voicemail, caller id for 12

i get out of paying the 300 early cancellation fee

and i think im going to call back after 1st bill and say i had been promised the voicemail and call id for free

I work at No.6 and Westminster as well, and I don't have any coverage issues in or out of the building...

Tell them to eat the admin fees, $35 for doing their job to sell you a phone is dumb. They credited my account the admin fee.

I got call display thrown in for free, yet they wanted $8 for voicemail so I passed.

i think that it's the $35 activation..

is 1gb data a decent amount for the iphone? I had the same amount with my bb and never went over but i know the bb compresses stuff..

Admin/activation/whatever... just tell them fees to do their job is dumb. :D

I tracked my usage for 2 weeks while traveling and having virtually no WiFi access and I used < 100 Mb. Since being back to my regular routine of having Wifi at home, work, and most coffee places I've barely used any data.

I might call and ask to downgrade my data plan to 500 Mb if they'll throw in something else instead, like long distance minutes.

IIymij 07-23-2011 03:51 PM

if this helps:

250 day time mins
call display
Voicemail
Unlimited network calling, rgrs to rgrs, and to fido
2500 text
6gb data

57+ tax ish

I know this isn't related but Im really worried here, I just checked my last months phone bill from rogers and its $1,270.. like wtf! I haven't left the country or gone anywhere.. I haven't gone over my $350 minutes I know that for a fact. I don't talk much on the phone, mostly texting and even then its not enough to go over 2500 texts.. haven't made any long distance calls and ive always stayed within my 1GB data plan, few times gone over a little but only ended up with $5-10 extra on bill.. how is this fucking possible? I cant think of a single reason its that high.. and as luck would have it, Rogers systems are down so they cant check right now.. ive been on a contract with them for 2 years now.. this makes no sense.. never had this happen before or had any absurd bill pop up

Has this happened to anyone before?

Sounds like a glitch.

Never happened to me but it seems like something Rogers should be able to resolve.

If you have ur bill, it should say where the $1270 came from. then call in and tell them something is hugely wrong.

dr.funk 07-25-2011 09:37 AM

For those with the 55 My 10 plan, call in and say its for biz and you get 100 extra minutes!
