So basically you're only paying $18 + tax?
If they won't give you free incoming, maybe try to waive the caller id :fullofwin:

Just found out my contract expired about a week ago and I'm looking to resign if I get a wicked deal and looking to move up to the captivate or possibly wait for the gs2.

So my question for the cell gurus are:

1. Am I too late to try and get some wicked retention plan action

2. What are some of deals that other people have gotten so I know which way to push

thanks

!Yaminashi 04-19-2011 08:03 PM

No its not too late, now that you have the option to resign, youre at an advantage to negotiate.

There are tons of ppl in this thread that have gotten insanely good deals, that it might as well be free :p

Try to get early evenings, no service fee, extra daytime mins? Tailor your plan to your needs

I think the general concensus is that the nicer you are, the better chance you have of getting what you want, but this isnt always the case

Another thing you could do is find out what other providers are offering and use that against your provider to see if they can do better

What do YOU want?

If they give you 5000 minutes, would you be able to use it?
Would 2500 texts and unlimited texting make a difference to you?
It really comes down to what YOU want first, than negotiate to the best of it.

m3thods 04-19-2011 09:26 PM

yeah it really depends on what you want.

what i did was look at what i wanted, the current plans offered, and I worked it out with the rep. nice and civil- they offered discounts with no hesitation because i was being reasonable. if you go too far, they'll just say no. don't push it too quickly. just say you're going to think about it and make a note on your account, then call again in a couple of hours for another rep and try again.

Neva 04-19-2011 11:21 PM

^^ya i guess i'm trying to figure how far to go before they'll say forget it.
Evening and weekends/txt/data would be what I'm after deals on the rest would be icing.

They rape us here for our cells so I might as well try get what i can :P

Graeme S 04-19-2011 11:47 PM

Is it possible to bitch about the 6GB plan that most iphone users get thats the same price as the 1GB.. and get it for an android phone?

Alatar 04-24-2011 12:57 PM

I'm not sure they're offering 6gb at the moment. They usually do it with the launch of a new phone, ie: new iphone, new android phone, etc. so you would have to call and ask.

cctw 04-28-2011 12:25 PM

anyone having problems with 3G internet today?...i havent been connecting on my nexus S well all day

JKam 05-14-2011 10:52 AM

I just re-signed a contract for...

200 anytime
UL E/W @ 6pm
UL Network calling
UL text
1GB data
CID/VM

all for 49.99 + tax
and I get any phone at 3yr contract price, probably picking up the SE Arc for $99

I came from...
250 anytime
UL E/W @ 6pm
UL incoming
UL network
UL text/picture
500mb data
CID/VM

for 57.70 + tax

Xander 05-14-2011 02:24 PM

For $69.92 (inc tax)

Unlimited Local Calling
1000 Canada wide long distance
2500 SMS, VM, CID
2GB Data

dasuperstar 05-14-2011 02:58 PM

Mine is

300min Local
250min LD North America
Early Evening Starting at 5pm
Weekend Unli call
Unli txt Canada Wide
My5 Canada Wide
VM and CD
500 International txt
6gb of data with tethering

- for 55 bucks

and yes you could call retention and ask for a better plan even thou your in retention plan. You could change your plan without renewing your contract.

Note: if you do a plan change always call back and verify as some reps they do reset your plan and sign you for another 3 years to get commission.
