Didn't work last night.

Heard from an ex employee that the best time to call in is 5-10 mins before they close which is I think 11pm? Because reps want to leave their night shift on time and are more likely to give you stuff. Of course this is YMMV like anything else but worth a shot.

Guess I will call in 8:30pm then. Took me a week to get what I wanted last time. I was hoping it would be quicker this time with the Virgin and Fido $56 plans.

Weird. I called in and told them I was contemplating porting my number over to Fido to take advantage of that plan. The rep I talked to had no problem matching it. That said, he told me that Rogers had no 2gb plan, so I had the option of taking a 1 or 3gb option. I opted for the 3gb, but had to pay an extra couple bucks. Since I wasn't calling in to get an actual retentions plan, I didn't particularly care.

This is the plan i negotiated today

Iphone value pack, 15 dollar credit
64.72 taxes in for 3 years

Hup with iphone 5 32gb, 156.48 taxes in.

If its too late, just give Rogers a call.

I just called Rogers and asked them to TRY to match BB or FS promotion.
The rep offered me 16gb iphone 5 for 29.99
or S3 16gb for free.
(Without changing or resigning my current plan)

They are on Pacific time. You would need to call at 10:45pm or later if you really want to catch someone late.

lol the call center is on eastern time and close at midnight 9pm pacific time.. unless you are from another time soon you need to adjust to whatever 9pm pacific time is. and just a word of advice if you call TOO LATE towards the end you'll be put on hold forever or just get cut off after a while.

terkan 01-02-2013 01:17 PM

:D i should start my own rogers/fido iphone 5 unlocking business since no one can do a factory unlock on it right now lol. just got my 3rd contracted iphone 5 unlocked from rogers :D

Also don't worry so much about factoring time to be transferred to retention. Retention does have a direct number.

you are still better off calling customer service to get transferred over. priority sequence vs regular. customer that gets transferred will be moved to the top of the queue that's just how it is with all call centers.

Yes but if someone is trying to use the call right before they close technique you don't know how long it will take before getting training transferred.

Actually it's open until 11PM PST on weekdays and 9PM PST weekends
Heard that system goes down for maintenance almost nightly though so they may not be able to complete the changes if you call TOO late

Did you just completely write off all the staff at Metrotown. Maybe you should try calling them before you 'lol'.

For the iphone 5 16gb/Samsung S3 16GB
No need to renew or re sign a contract.

I actually just called in again because I wanted to upgrade my data plan to LTE.
After spending 1 hour and 15 minutes on the phone, I got this:

unlimited local calling
unlimited canada text/video/pic messages
1GB LTE data
Caller ID/voice mail/ all those value pack gimmicks

for 50 dollars a month plus tax

and the rep offered me a Galaxy S3 32 GB for 60 bucks as long as I am willing to renew my contract.

lol, i'm pretty sure you are going to end up with a contract. the system will automatically do it unless you are some how going to get a $700 credit on your account. they can't just put whatever price for the phone they want. by not resigning or renewing a contract with a proper plan there's automatically going to be a 699 or whatever the price of the phone's charge on it. and i don't see them crediting you manually close to $700bux without someone getting fired so ya.. :suspicious:

for the 16gb devices, i dont have to re-sign. I made sure of that. Even got the reference number just in case.

but if I want any of the 32gb s3/ip5, I have to re-sign.
