I've already gone through 10 reps online/phone + 2 Twitter reps, thought it was going to be a quick call or else I would have saved their names :okay:

How come you guys have so much problems with changing a sim card? do you guys call the CSR to do it for you? Do you know you can do it yourself?

Log in to rogers.com and you will see this:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...ps51a376a5.png

Click the "Change Sim Card" link and follow the instructions.

I used this feature twice and my sim card was changed in less than 2 minutes for both times.

Problem (for me) is.. My original sized sim card was cut to micro sim size.

so my friend got her iphone 4 stolen while she was on a trip in thailand.

when she got back home, she called rogers about getting a new phone and they said she had to pay a $264 early upgrade fee to get a new phone.

I asked her to add me as an authorized user on her acct so i can call retentions for her.
i called yesterday, and after sweet talking the retentions rep, i was able to get her full early upgrade waived and she was able to get a new iphone 4s 16gb for 79.99 :)

BigTrollFace 10-22-2012 10:43 AM

LOOOLLLLL 4s for 79.99

vitaminG 10-22-2012 11:28 AM

So i had rogers do a technical assurance and they confirmed i live in a dead zone, ive had rogers for 7 years, but reception has gotten progressively worse.

With this said the tech support rep said i could contact client care and see what they could do for me. I'm thinking of what to ask for. Probably going to ask for a rogers one number box and a credit for the $10 a month they charge. The tech support rep suggested i ask for a UMA (cell connects to wifi for calls) but thats only avail on select phones and i believe they usually suck.

Anybody have any other suggestions, i expect to get something from them, just not sure what to ask for.

mb_ 10-22-2012 11:36 AM

Finally got my godamn sim card activated and they're offering me $30 credit. Take it or ask for more?

Is her contract renewed for another 3 years?

k00laid 10-22-2012 05:37 PM

My money is on yes, no way rogers would just "sell outright" a 4s for 80 bucks. And also they did her such a big favor by "waiving her early upgrade fee"

yes she is renewed, but she has a good plan anyways.

this is prob the 4th person in the last few months who ive helped get their early hup fee waived.

and she got the 4s because she didnt think the upgrades on the 5 were enough for her to pay and wait for.

I believe you can get them for free from the big 3...

mb_ 10-22-2012 06:35 PM

That's for new activations only I believe

winson604 10-22-2012 07:05 PM

Rather pay and extra $100 for the 5 personally but to each their own.

xilley 10-23-2012 05:59 AM

this is fucking bullshit.

I got the super 6 gig plan. and 20 dollar value pack.
my bill monthly is 83 ish.

and I called today to ask if they could sweeten the deal. the rep said you actually went over by 22 minutes so thats 9 dollars something on top of your bill this month.
and she said all I can do is give you bonus 100 daytime mins for the next 3 months.

how the fuck are you guys getting the same plan as me at the price of 50-60 bucks?

Thanks bud, I called to cancel as well and they gave me this :

200 min + 100 bonus (but bonus must be called in again to renew)
unlimited incoming
free after 5 or 6 pm and weekends
unlimited sms mms canada wide
6 gig data
20 dollar value pack

all for $82 taxed in originally, but now $67 a month.

they also took a $50 off my last month bill because I went over by 9 dollars something.

oh, and they didnt ask me to resign. they allowed me to keep that plan for as long as I want, but I did however ask if I could get a even better deal if I signed a new 3 year contract but he said no not by much.

I m good this way anyways, dont want to be stranded with a 3 year contract again.

NOOB question.

I have a basic grandfathered 500mb plan. Can I tether with my iPhone 4S?? Thinking about connecting it to my ipad 2

You will eat that 500mb in no time and won't leave much left for your phone, be conscious of that.

You should call and ask. As far as I know, not all data plans are compatible with tethering.

OriginalJC 10-23-2012 01:08 PM

I believe they only allow tethering with 1GB plans and up

JKam 10-23-2012 02:02 PM

Serious question: Why wouldn't you be able to tether?

I do it all the time on my 1gb plan and never got charged even though I don't have the tethering "option". How would they even be able to track it?

Hondaracer 10-23-2012 04:11 PM

A few questions for you guys see what the answers are, preface this with me being an 11 year Rogers customer so I have a bit more than average leverage

A) when I got my iPhone 5 I paid an activation fee, is this set in stone or can I phone in and have it waived?

B) their policy says phone shipped in 14 days or $50 credit, my phone did not ship till the 15th day, amd I have both the email and the UPS tracking Info that id's it as the 15th day, so I have a case?

Being a customer for a long time doesn't guarantee you'll get treated well. Trust me on that one.

You may be able to call in and get it waived as a credit, but now that you've resigned and are contract'd, you've got basically zero leverage.
