I've dealt with Retentions for countless hours. I know how it works I was just looking for people who may have dealt with similar situations

A) when I got my iPhone 5 I paid an activation fee, is this set in stone or can I phone in and have it waived?

B) their policy says phone shipped in 14 days or $50 credit, my phone did not ship till the 15th day, amd I have both the email and the UPS tracking Info that id's it as the 15th day, so I have a case?

You can most likely get the $50 credit since technically it's past 14 days.

The activation fee, if you ask nicely, and mention that Telus has now waived activation fees for all customers, they might waive it for you as well. Ask for it as a one-time credit.

Or, assuming if your plan is great, you can sell the plan, sell the phone and go elsewhere.

Otherwise, I would just return the bloody thing. You didn't really sign anything if you don't accept the phone.

Who knows, by cancelling maybe they'll be able to work with you. Especially if they don't promise the phone within a certain time frame.

Rogers has called me twice trying to get me to upgrade my phone. They would waive my euf and admin fee if I renewed. I declined the offer both times however, the second time they offered me 200 minutes for 6 months without renewing my contract. I have 10 months left on my current 3 year term.
My plan now looks like this
500 daytime minutes
Evenings and weekends strting at 5
My5
CID, vm, 2500txt
6gb
Works out to 48.xx plus tax

Considering the good media coverage they had about the bump in subscriptions, keeping customers seems to be a number 1 priority for Rogers...

Thanks Anjew :fullofwin:

On their ad it states

We can provide a permanent unlock in 12-24hrs telus, koodo & at&t for $80. There are some networks overseas that work as well. Locally we only can unlock certain networks. The rogers/fido unlock takes 1-8 days to process.

IF its a gavey sim why you need to wait 12-24 hrs?

Mr.HappySilp 10-27-2012 11:38 AM

LOL funny thing happen so I port my number out to fido earlier this month while I still have a contract with Rgoers till July 2013. I call Rogers up last night to pay my last bill with them expecting it to be around $250 ($160 early cancellation fee and Monthly fee for Oct). The rep on the phone just charge me the monthly fee. After I paid I ask him again is my account balance at 0 and I own nothing. He said yes coz my account was close on Oct 09.

Not sure if it was a mistake or some system error but when I check my online account it also said I own nothing......

Hehe my gf just ported from Rogers to Bell recently and then we ported back to Rogers within a couple weeks. Not only did we get Rogers to waive the ECF of $400 but we basically fucked Rogers of a $200 + $35 early upgrade fee because at the time we ported she wasn't eligible for upgrade yet. So we signed a new 3 year and just paid the $179 for iphone 5. Win!

it's a factory unlock thru itune... not gevey sim

No, like Terkan said, its through iTunes. Essentially what it is is that when the phones come out of the factory in China, theyre all unlocked. X amount of phones go to Rogers, Y go to Telus, and Z go to the Apple Store. When you plop in your sim for the first time and activate the phones, the IMEI is logged to Apples server and the phone is therefore locked if you buy a subsidized carrier phone. The only way to unlock it is to pay your provider the fee (and jump through their own policy hoops) and your provider will then deal with removing your IMEI on Apples server to their so called "Unlocked" list. Different providers have different rules (ie. Rogers needs the phone to be paid in full + 50$) While some providers are just straight fees. This is why some of the providers listed have cheaper unlocking rates because the process is easier on some providers.

You're essentially paying someone to bypass the provider fees and simply submitting the IMEIs to Apple and requesting the IMEI's be moved to a different list.

This is the same method as the SAM trick back in April that faked "Unlock Tickets" and moved IMEIs while bypassing the provider all together.

Illegal unlocking like before that apple just role it back? I'm worried that I'll pay xx dollars then apple will just role it back when they notice the exploit :(

BTW will gevey sim works with iPhone 5?

Sushi604 10-29-2012 11:00 AM

Gotta love how Rogers asks you to pay off the phone prior to unlocking it for $50.

"Why thanks Rogers... I love how you slip your cock in my ass without prior notice."

Do they still offer new contract overwrites over existing contracts when you attempt to pick up a new phone?

dasuperstar 11-04-2012 08:55 AM

Rogers Customer Service is being an *hole...(for 5 years I'm happy with their resolution) I just wasted my 20min talking to 2 useless reps..... Prev rep promise me to cut half of my early upgrade fee then they rejected it.... what a BS... This Rep Gl**n* is claiming she's a manager / Supervisor... really? She can't even make a right decision. Maybe time to go to Telus now.....

$1200 Rogers Cancellation Fee - 1400 Port-in Credit in Telus(3x350) - 1200(3xiphones 4s) = -1400 Credits for me... I could make money in moving to Telus.... + I could unlock the phones for $50.

But I still got 1 card left ......... complain in United States and Canada BBB Consumer
- just want to prove to those reps that customer is always right and they should honor their words...then cancel HAHAHA

Do you know the turn around time guys after you fill-up the form?

wasabisashimi 11-04-2012 10:44 AM

i think there is MAX cap for early cancellation like $400 or something. no way they can make u pay 1200$

stuff99 11-04-2012 11:15 AM

Anyone else get their hardware upgrade fee waived?

Update Rogers just send out a bill on friday stating I own $252 for early cancellation. Call right away and surprise surprise they have no records in me calling them 3 times about the cancellation fee which from 3 different reps they said it will be $160. The girl I talk to basically said pay it and is in your ToS. Told her I am going to make a complain to CCTS.

Sure the ToS is accurate but when I call in 3 times and ask 3 different rep and they all say I own $160 I am going to assume what they told me is correct. I even ask her if your rep said something different then what the contract outline or what the ToS then what? Becasue we phone in to ask the details since we are not 100% sure so we as customer take the word your rep said. She basically have no answer for me.

SoNaRWaVe 11-04-2012 11:52 AM

When Rogers offer anything or state anything, make sure you tell them to note it on your file so that all reps can see it. Then ask for the reference/interaction ID. Its the only way on your end to make sure they don't screw you over.

That's 4 lines

- 3 x iphone 4s just upgraded this year
- 1 x regular phone

Whats the current cancellation policy.

IIRC cancellation policy is $20/mo remaining to a maximum of $400 per line. If you have a plan with a voice and a separate data contract, data contracts usually have a proviso that you can't cancel them within 12 months; if you do you have to pay $10/mo to cancel the data component.

As much as I am normally anti-Rogers in terms of their unfairness, you are essentially asking for about a thousand dollars worth of discount after getting three $700 phones for about $100 (I'm guessing). So the last time you upgraded you got an $1800 discount ($600x3 phones). It seems like you're now asking to upgrade for only half the normal cost (so paying $200ish+ 3-year subsidized phone price), which means you're getting another $900ish only a single year later.

If you look at it from a cost : earnings analysis, giving $3000 worth of discounts within a year is pretty crazy.
