You will need to get a flextab for whatever balance of the $599 price of the phone you don't pay. Maybe they meant there's no contract because it's now a flextab?

nope
29.99 for iphone 5....without changing my plan/monthly payment at all

Its probably because that was the first time I asked for a phone upgrade in 4 years.

Not changing your plan/monthly payments or not changing your contract? They're very different things. I don't think there is any possibility to get a hup without a contract/flextab. The only time that had ever happened was when they were proactively offering blackberry 9790s with free wifi calling because there were problems with reception in some areas

sorry i meant not changing my plan and not changing my monthly payment

^^
They probably just threw you on Flextab which is the new thing. Not having to resign doesn't really mean anything because you would still have to pay off the flextab which is really the same shit.

You really think they would just give you a $700 phone for $29.99 with no strings attached? $29.99 is just the subsidized cost and you will owe like $670 on the flextab or whatever amount is left over.

BaoTurbo 01-03-2013 10:01 AM

dfuq is flextab now. i hear they changed things up a bit to match competitors

Just did a quick search and it's just like the tab system. However what I didn't see was exactly how much does each month go towards the tab to make it at 0

Here's an example of how Flextab works.

You get a phone that retails for lets say $600 for $0 on a 3 year term.

You take $600 and divide that evenly into 36 months or whatever term you are on.

That equals to about $16.66 per month. So as each month goes down the amount you owe for the phone goes down by $16.66 until it's finally paid off in full after 3 years. You can leave anytime you want but you just have to pay what's remaining on the phone.

It's just a different version of Early Cancellation.

BaoTurbo 01-03-2013 10:39 AM

That's just buying a new phone in monthly installments. Their only bet is that customers stay loyal so in 3 years they make money off your plans.

Yes, it is just like buying a new phone in monthly installments. If a customer gets a new phone for a subsidized cost they have to at least break even. So if you want to leave, no problem just pay us the remaining amount you owe for the phone and you're on your way.

So far two calls to retentions and no luck for improving my plan.

Currently I have:
unlimited local calling
2500 texts, (but does not include picture messaging b/c plan is 2yrs old)
Voice mail pack including caller id
6 gigs data
I am paying just under $64 tax in.

Been trying to see if I can get upgraded to Canada wide calling for no cost, but unable to get the credit for it.

kiwee 01-20-2013 08:53 PM

I got:

unlimited income/outing/text
free caller id/display
1GB data
$55 including tax $61-62..saved about 5 dollars a month

shenmecar 01-21-2013 11:08 AM

^retention offered that plan for 50 last time i called

Sushi604 01-21-2013 12:11 PM

I was able to get for my friend this:

Unlimited incoming and outgoing calls
Unlimited SMS/MMS texting worldwide
Caller ID/Voicemail
1GB of data

$45 before taxes.

Off contract deal.

If he were to get a new Samsung Galaxy Note II, it'll be $149 on a 3 year contract. I told him to call back tomorrow and see where he goes with this.

So far, I'm okay with the non contract plan. Phone, not so much.
