I assume that this helped out?

How does this work? Did it work out for you?

I got about a year left of mine. I really want to switch but I don't want to pay them for the contract. Seriously I'm so sick of contract plans, even 2 years feels like 10 years to me after all these other carriers came out I can try without ANY contracts

I have no idea... I'd assume only the primary user can do it. I'm talking to one of the reps through email right now.. So far he hasn't said anything about needing business #/license.

What more do you want? You're not going to get Wind/Mobilicity type of pricing from Rogers.

I have heard people got plans like

200 min
unlimited evening/weekends
long distance, voicemail, so and so
caller id
6gb data

for $30 - $40.

check the redflagdeals.com thread if you haven't. some plans there are unbelievable.

Sure but those are extremely rare cases. Most of the retention plans are nowhere near that. If you think you'll be able to call in to negotiate a plan like that you're gonna be in for a surprise.

i'm just saying, those plans are considered "retention".

retention plans are plans that other provider cannot offer. as far as i know, every provider was giving out $5 - $10 credit on the super plan.

Seems sketchy if he hasn't mentioned anything. If it was really that easy then a lot of people will just partner up with their spouse, siblings, parents etc and all of us will be on Business Plans.

be reasonable, 6GB data itself is already a non-discountable $30 option. Combined with the fact that Rogers has been really strict about retentions nowadays, you will NOT be able to get a plan like that anymore. Also, most of those ppl on rfd do not mention when their credits expire. It may only be that awesome for a short time. however, with the right rep, anything is possible...........

Retention plans have nothing to do with offering what others can't. It's about giving something extra that their normal plans can't or attempting to match what others are offering. There's no definition of a Retention plan. I was on EPP plan and that was a "retention" plan but it wasn't called that. Yes a $5 or $10 credit can be had but I guarantee they don't just give them out to everyone and they're not obligated to even give you anything. If you call in with that assumption you won't get anywhere with retentions department.

Graeme S 09-06-2012 08:09 PM

Which is kind of disappointing, really. In theory it's called the "Loyalty" department, and there are lots of customers of 5-15 years who are getting nothing for having spruced up the bottom line, and are now getting shafted because for the first time in...well, ever-ish, the RoBelLus trinity is facing some actual external competition.

Which is why I ditched for Wind.

winson604 09-06-2012 08:13 PM

There's certainly no definition of a retention plan and I agree some people go into it having an expectation that is unrealistic. With that said, retention is in place to try and retain people. Sure, they are not there to give into what sometimes are outrageous demands but the lack of even trying to retain people at all is what really gets me now.

!MiKrofT 09-07-2012 12:28 AM

True. For me the $10 credit is enough to retain me for now and it seems many others too. I intentionally didn't get a phone so I always have the option of leaving without penalty. Their service has always been good for me and that's why I've stayed so far.

Yea, a $10 credit I would already be quite happy to be honest but they wouldn't budge on that, even got denied a few times on $5 credit. Oh wells :okay:

MarkyMark 09-07-2012 07:40 AM

Im starting to think I should have jumped on that 6 gig super plan when it came out, I'd be paying a bit more now but not as much as I'm going to get raped when my credits run out next year.

Rumor has it that the 6gb plan will make another appearence after the iPhone comes out so you may not be out of luck yet.

JKam 09-07-2012 09:42 AM

The only reason I haven't jumped ship to Wind is because of their coverage and no iphone :(. Has it improved since they launched a couple years ago?

mr_chin 09-07-2012 01:36 PM

Without those awesome retention plan rogers were giving out, the only reason I see people staying is LTE/fast data speed.

TOPEC 09-07-2012 05:25 PM

question for those on LTE plans, what kind of speeds r u guys getting?

my speed test shows 9.XX Mbps down and constant 1.XX Mbps up, i thought LTE is 40Mbps down?! im on the 6GB LTE super plan with samsung GS3

It might depend on where you're standing in the LTE area (like any cell reception). That's already double my HSPA+ speed on the same phone, so it's definitely LTE. Also are you on Rogers or Bell/Telus? That might make a difference too.

i have $15 in credits i think. the problem i have is that come renewal time i always have to fight to get what i had renewed. its like yes i am happy with what i've got so lets keep it that way... rogers wants to renew me have me pay the same or more and offer me less, stupid logic. i literally have to waste hours calling in multiple times in hopes of just keeping what i always had, been a customer for over 10+ years.

this is the reason why i'm going to switch to wind. one price, includes everything, no need to call in for bs.

Mine was no muss no fuss. Was easy as always. Maybe I just get a good retentions person each time. If wind/mobilicity coverage was better I'd consider switching.

JSALES 09-08-2012 01:26 PM

I kinda racked up my cell phone bill when I was in the states, you guys think if I called Rogers that they would be willing to reduce the price a bit?
