Is there any way to get the upgrade fee waived? I like the 6GB super plan I'm on, so is it possible just to get credits for that instead?

you just gotta pay $39 early upgrade fee and sign a new 3 year if you want the phone for cheap.

mr_chin 08-29-2012 08:10 PM

hmm... is rogers increasing prices and decreasing value of services lately?

$45
200 minutes, 100mb data

$53
200 minutes, 200mb data

i remember when i got my bb bold 9000 in 2009, i paid $45 for 150 minutes with 150 bonus on weekends, 500mb data.

bell current have $53, 200 minutes, 500mb. wth is up with rogers?

BaoTurbo 08-30-2012 02:02 AM

^Getting cocky. Wait...was cocky....nope still cocky. Still think they are the best after many providers can actually prove their network is now as good as Rogers after upgrading systems.

You just ask. You can upgrade anytime but you just have to pay. Normal HUP policy states you need to be within the last 6 months of your existing contract to get an early upgrade. Anything outside of that time frame you will need to pay x amount per month that you are outside of the 6 month period. I don't remember the amount though.

Rogers trys to not be poor mans mobile service. They want to go for high rollers. Students GTFO.

I for one will be GTFO after 15yrs of loyalty

mr_chin 08-30-2012 06:07 PM

I'm thinking about leaving as well because I've requested for an upgrade to S3 in the last month and a half.

Went to the stores and they intentionally brush me off because selling plans were their main priority on getting rid of the 16gb.

Tried over the phone and haven't heard from them yet. The guy said I should receive an email from UPS with the tracking number. Haven't got anything.

Giving this til my next bill shows up and see if they charge me for upgrade, if not I'm heading to bell.

So much easier to sign a 3 year contract with bell in hopes of them matching the 6gb super plan and get a S3 for contract price.

!MiKrofT 08-31-2012 01:55 AM

Weird. I had no problems getting the super plan as well as the S3 on a 3 year contract price. Have also been with them a longass time. Good old cantel days. Rogers usually ship phones really fast when they have them in stock.

wasabisashimi 08-31-2012 11:09 AM

It is funny once I told rogers retention that because they wont give me any good deal , I have plan to cancel in 4 month after my contract is up, I am starting to get a couple calls every 2 weeks from some Rogers partner trying to see if they can offer me a new phone and resign.

These people clearly arent retention department and they cant get any better discount either. I dont know why They even bother. ITs like rogers just send my file to their sales department and let all these mobile dealers work their sale magic on me.

Waste my time

shenmecar 08-31-2012 07:43 PM

yup, i got those calls last year too just before my contract expired. they offer absolute garbage deals. i declined all of them.

Expresso 09-01-2012 12:39 PM

So has anyone successfully negotiated a retentions deal recently?

BaoTurbo 09-04-2012 07:10 PM

lots of examples here lol in this thread

Don't know about that, just people complaining since Rogers started to crack down on credits.

No lol, I called recently and was turned down. Not even offered a single credit and no I'm not already on a retention plan, just a regular plan they had when I signed up. I still have 15 months left on my contract so might just wait it out. I've accumulated a few hundred dollars in BB Gift Cards so might just buy a phone straight up in a little while, sell my curent phone and then leave Rogers at the end of my Term and get yet another new phone.

Just leave Rogers, their so called retention isnt the same anymore. It has a tighter control on giving out credits, I have 3 month left on mine, and been calling once a month to check my options. Everytime, they just offer me some crap plan very similar to Rogers in-store plan except for some stupid add-on which i never use anyway.

I am keeping my door open until then, screw rogers.

mr_chin 09-05-2012 02:55 PM

lol rogers. bell is already selling s3 for $99.95.

still waiting for mine in the mail after 2 weeks now, highly doubt they've sent it out or charged my bill on that matter.

i wanna switch but i don't wanna lose my plan. went to bell store and they said they can't match the 6gb super plan.

anyone know a way around to getting the s3 and keeping the super plan?

JKam 09-05-2012 03:14 PM

Has anyone heard of some ultimate couples plan...? basically unlimited R2R/Evening-weekends, texting, vm, CID, 500 min and 6GB data for something like $70 total...?

Someone told my gf about it and we were looking at getting it but I can't find ANY documentation of it anywhere. The only thing I could find was from the rogers site, with 2GB but for $140..

I'm definitely going to leave Rogers but don't want to pay them the $400 or so I'll owe in cancellation fees so but one day in the not too distant future I'm done with them

JKam - I have not heard of any couples plans that even come close to being $70 with all that. Rogers constantly sends me couples plans but I laugh because it's more than what my gf and I pay if we combined our bills and we actually get less. What a fucking joke.

yeah I'm thinking her friends are on drugs.. All the couples plans are complete jokes. I just want to get more data but if I try, I lose all my credits.

Le gf wants to get data but whether its 500mb or 6gb its going to cost her an extra $30 :okay: If only we could share 6gb without paying much more than we already pay.

found that on craiglist, don't know which provider that is with.

Hmm. I had no problems getting a $10 credit on the superplan when I talked to retentions. It was a smooth call as always.

a lot of people got $5 - $10 credit on the super plan, it's not even consider retention.

i just called in to upgrade to s3 and asked customer relation to match bell's $99.95, and so he did, but claims that the s3 is out of stock. gonna give til next friday before i switch to bell.

have you guys heard of / used Cell Phone Plans | myCELLmyTERMS.com | Create a Plan Today & Save! to get better rates from carriers? I used it to negotiate with Rogers when getting my gf a retentions plan.

Yea, does look like Bell and if that's the case it isn't truly a couples plan. It's a couple who are in a business together plan so if this is the plan Jkam's friend is talking about then it's harsh misleading. I've checked with my friend who's a regional manager for Wireless Wave and sure, some stores will try to "scam" it and get the plan for you but once Bell does an audit your screwed anyways if you don't have a tax number and are a legit business.
