Can you unlock the 8 gig Iphone that is in stores right now?

Depends. The stock is probably a mix of 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 phones now. 1.1.1 you can unlock for sure. 1.1.2 you can pretty much unlock too, but the methodology is being finalized.

My ringtones on 1.1.1 are pretty loud. The annoying thing is that it's also distorted, but if I play the same song in the iPod app it's just as loud but clear. Go figure.

The method I posted (see top of this page) works nicely, and if you're on a Mac, the newest beta of iNdependence 1.3 automates it (actually the same method) to make it easier.

I left my screen protector on for the first week until I got my BSE body skin. I just took a needle and poked a few holes in the speaker area so I could hear what people were saying when they called me hahah

Yeah I had mine on for the first day and I realized I couldnt hear anyone. Then I was like duhhh screen protector so I cut it off but I made it paralle to the phone so it looked clean. Then 3 days later I peeled the whole thing off cuz it started to accumulate dirt around the edges. I had a leather case for it tho anyway so it never got scratched. I sold it to my buddy on saturday tho and he loves it so far. haha I am going back to bb.

Of course, i'm pretty sure the cell-phone sponsors here can unlock the iphone for you for a heafty fee... but again, unlocking the iphone is very straight forward and requires around an hour of your spare time.

The screen protector on my iPhone has a space for the hole but it doesn't look like it's been poked with a needle or anything. No idea where the screen pro came from though as I bought this phone used.

lol my screen protector already had spaces for the speaker and Home button...no poking required. :p

i find little need for the screen protector. unless is the anti fingerprint ones which are pretty useful..

other than that, ther should be little worry about the screen scratching since is a pretty durable screen ... *the chrome edge is a different story though...

best to get a case first then a screen protector if you want ur iphone to bein mint condition after a year or 2

None of us can. Only works for iTunes-activated phones (i.e. genuine AT&T ones).

if you upgraded to 1.1.2 by accident, you can downgrade it back to 1.1.1 and unlock it. I unlocked a couple yesterday
