I could be wrong but I think they cancelled the whole Rogers pays/waives your early cancellation if you come from Fido thing a long time ago. I could be wrong though.

I just did it yesterday, Rogers to Fido for $100.

just called to inquire about cancelling my contract, and the rep said they need 30 days notice in advance to cancel.

Is this true??

Yes. They scam you another month's payment.

they just implemented recently? I threatened to cancel 6 months ago and never heard of this.

What a bunch of bullshit, why the hell do they need 30 days notice anyways.

Cuz they're scammers. To me, that's just one less month of ETC I have to pay for.

they dont need 30 days. were u actually thinking of cancelling? or were u just trying to say that so u get a better deal?

if u r cancelling to go to another carrier, just go to the new carrier and port ur number over. rogers will pro-rate ur bill.

if u are trying to get a better deal, by threatening to cancel, you will need to word it better, like:

" ive been a loyal customer for x number of years, but there are a lot better deals out there with other carrier. i would like to stay with rogers, because i have been happy with your service and products however saving money is more imortant for me at the moment, so i was wondering if you could do anything to lower my montly cost. if not, then i will have to go with another company because they are offering me more for less"

or something like that.

2 years ago when my Rogers contract expired I stuck with my plan for another couple months. Then told them I was going to port over to another Carrier and they also told me I had to give them 30 day notice.

I was pretty furious, told them I wanted to switch my plan to the bare minimum.

Can anybody fill me in if I buy an iPhone 4 or 4s for my mom (locked or unlocked) is she able to use the phone without having to switch to a $50 plan? She has a really good grandfathered plan and would not like to switch. Any way I can just buy a micro SIM and just plug and play? Or does it not work like that.

if you buy a subsidized phone from rogers, than yes, you will need a minimum data plan. if its not subsidized, you should be ok

Sorry, what do you mean?

If I purchase a phone it will be off Craigslist, not from Rogers.

Cassijon 09-24-2012 09:25 PM

then you'll be fine.

wanna buy my iphone 4 lol..

screen protector on front and back since day one. no scratches... condition 9.5/10 comes with USB cord, wall charger and otterbox

$300

^ I'll take it into consideration! Still trying to decide what between the 4 and the 4s.

What colours your phone? Size? (16gb, 32gb)

Anybody know where I could get a micro SIM?

Any Rogers store will sell it to you but the ones that are not corporately owned might try to charge you am activation fee of $35 (rip off)
I'd try a Rogers plus (corporate) or a best buy, they're $10 from these places

Rogers plus as well, but why not pay at your bank/online? Takes a few days but there aren't many corporate stores around town anymore

you don't need 30 days notice to cancel but you'll be charged 30 days so essentially 1 more month. if it's already halfway thru your billing cycle you'll be charged whatever's left on your current billing cycle and then proration of how many ever days that adds up to 30 days.

Mr.HappySilp 09-27-2012 02:23 PM

I file a complain with
CCTS · CPRST
Apparently they take the complain for you and usually a manager from the provider you complain will call you back.
Basically my data plan got extaded when i switch to the 6GB deal but the rep didn't mention this to me. SO my phone contract ends in July 2013 and my data plan ends in Aug 2015 which makes no sense. The rep I talk about it offer no help or any solutions other than for me to sing another 3year contract with them after july 2013 which is BS. Waiting for an answer.
