Semi related to Hobz misadventures with brakes, now that I'm dailying my Grand Cherokee the slight clunk in the front end was really annoying me and I had a hunch I knew what it was. Sure enough the shop that did the alignment and overcharged the hell out of me for some ball joints had left everything they touched finger tight. That includes the lock nuts on the adjustable upper and lower control arms and track bar, and the bolt for the upper control arm to the axle.
With that all tightened up the clunk is gone, which is nice.

How you been enjoying the mini so far? Is it manual?
Oh I love it! I’ve been driving this everyday since I got it. It’s so maneuverable around town and I can be less mindful of where I park. It’s manual, if I knew I’d be driving this as much as I do I probably would’ve looked for a dct. I’m not in love with the long throws and high engagement point of the clutch. It makes the overall manual driver experience very exaggerated.
How much does paint correction cost?
$300ish depending on size.
I had them do my e46 for $350 and the mini was $300 and they did the plastic trims too.

My dad had some paint correction on his vehicle done recently by some old veteran in the detailing game and the guy made an interesting point, people here probably already do this but the guy said, when washing your car the worst thing you can do in terms of scratches it just spray it down with water and go at it with a wash mit/rag etc.
He said you’ve really gotta spray it down, then foam the entire car to break the dirt and grime away from the paint, THEN wash.
Obviously never really had nice enough vehicles to care but I ended up buying a foam gun off amazon so I can start washing it in this manner

I've always blasted the car as much as I can, try to hose off as much of the dirt as possible. Dirt = swirls, less dirt less swirls.
I don't even do 2 bucket and the M3 doesn't have any swirls. Rock hard German paint helps though. Do the same thing on a Lexus you'll have sanded the paint off.

Got a paint correction, ceramic coating and a PPF on the roof of our G37 today for $500
Looks pretty nice I’m somewhat skeptical on the longevity of the coating but the paint correction and everything turned out great for a 14 year old car
Was thinking of selling it however based on marketplace listings I figure a “fair” price would be $9000-$10,000 and imo this car is worth more than that to me so no point

It depends on how you use the car and the brand of the coating.
The M3 coating is 7 years old and it's still beading well, but it's almost exclusively parked inside other than when we go out and end up parking outside.
UV will degrade the coating quicker, as will washing it frequently and where you wash it. My guy told me if I use the touchless washes a lot the coating will degrade quicker as those use a very strong acid to basically eat the grime away.
Though $500 is stupid cheap for a polish and coating. Do you know which brand they use? There are ceramic quick detailers that seem to be quite good as well.

Application can be done 2 ways. Spray is the cheaper easier product to work with, where you just spray and wipe. Microfiber application is more pro. For the low low price you paid of $500 I find it hard to believe you got the microfiber treatment..... So assuming it's the spray and wipe kind.... Just take a microfiber towel and buff your windshield till the streak goes away, should come off easily.

Because now sitting in the car I can see the texture of the coating through the glass.. trying to see if they will polish it off or what before I recommend anyone lol..
So to follow up with this.. in b4 “you get what you pay for” etc lol..
So after driving our car home, I pretty much instantly noticed there was a film or something on my windshield, as well as the back window..
Both my wife and I noticed it instantly as something that wasn’t there prior to dropping the car off.. so went home and text the guy saying it looks like there’s overspray or something on the wind shield. He said any glass cleaner etc. should take it off.
So I tried glass cleaner, I tried even rubbing alcohol, an abrasive pad, nothing worked. The “texture” I see through the windshield is clear as day and 1000% was not there previously. So I text the guy back and said look, like I get you say you didn’t apply it to the wind shield, however, this was not there before.. so you gotta deal with this.
I bring it back the following Saturday and he polished both windshields and washed the car, basically then said “ok the car is done the rear window is fine and I think the front windshield is actually a defect”
I’m like uhh… ok… drive it home after the wash and nothing changed on either window
Fast forward now, I’ve tried everything and nothing has even removed a small amount of what I see..
Frankly I feel like either they fucked somthing up and didn’t say anything or used a wrong product on my windows.. it’s annoying enough that now I feel like I’ve gotta get a new windshield it’s that bad…
Any suggestions as to what to try to get it off? Reddit etc. says that if it’s just ceramic coating it should have come off with polishing.. but the polishing he did with a big grinder did shit all…
The company is “DTA Detailing” in Poco.. would not recommend as they did a pretty shit job with the PPF as well..

Go buy a bottle of glass polish, make sure it's polish and not cleaner. Perfect if you have a buffer but otherwise you can do it by hard, or get a pad attachment for a drill. I'm sure paint polish would work too but it might take a little longer.
Use LOW SPEED, emphasis on LOW. You can burn the glass if you go at it too hard. After you are done either throw the pad away or label it clearly as once you've polished glass you cannot use it on paint anymore.
Finish with whatever coating or cleaner you like. Make sure you clean it well.

For anyone who is into DIY'ing and a customer of RockAuto.com, I recently ordered a bunch of WIX oil filters for my cars and noticed the spin-on oil filters no longer have cellophane wrapped on the bottom where the rubber gasket is. These are Made in USA filters.
Is it a huge deal? No, not really. But it's a sign of some cost-cutting measures and potential concern for quality of products to be mindful of in the future. For comparison, factory Toyota filters (Made in Thailand) have the cellophane wrapping and a layer of grease on the rubber to prevent it from drying out. My previous orders with RockAuto for Wix filters had a cellophane wrapping on it.

The car has no spare, it comes with a spare tire sub thats a 5in woofer.
This is a slim mount 12in Rockford dual 2 ohm being powered by the OEM amp. OEM is pretty strange, the amp sperates the two voice coils, hence you see two terminals on the box going into a 4pin plug.
The box is built to Rockford's specs at 25.4L. It's not going to dig low like a sub 12 in a big box, but I can keep all my trunk space like this and I don't have to run any wires/amps etc.

Keep the wrench, key, add plugs, 12v pump, and pair of pliers. You can plug a tire without taking off the wheel, and if i really need a jack, everyone else carries one that will work lol. If i'm lowered, jacks not gonna fit anyways so what's the point of carrying it.

thanks again to DjStyles for giving me these great tips. I bought an OBDEleven and a pro subscription for 1 year to start messing with these VW shits. lots of weird programming you can do.
So far ive:
1) turned off Soundacktor - no more lame fake engine noise
2) program the hatch to remote unlock, thus letting these pop struts do their work
3) program the windows for "komfort" access and thus allowing them to roll up when you hold lock button
4) turn up the differential engagement strength (less torque steer)
If youre wondering how i made gifs, i used the Shortcut app on my iphone. inside there's a automatic gif maker that you can turn videos, or photos into gifs. There's also one for making memes. Pretty neat app if you've never used it.

I think there's also a way to turn on lane centering and full traffic assist adaptive cruise control (goes to 0 and starts itself again), if you care about that kind of thing. Not sure if removed on MK8 tho, but you can tell those Tesla cucks that "AutoPilot" isn't special.

If it is Slocan and 22nd, the old Rav4 is on the left turn lane and that's westbound 22nd. Some one probably tried to go straight through on Slocan Northbound, there's a stop sign there but that intersection really needs a stop light or god forbid a roundabout.

They did all that recent construction to add a left turn lane when they could have added a roundabout instead.

I think the eventual plan looks to be a light there. I don't think a roundabout would work with the volume of east/west traffic on 22nd. I only go through there to make the left turn south onto Slocan. If I'm going North on Slocan, I'm turning at 29th Ave, and making a left and continuing North down Renfrew.
The volume of traffic turning south up Slocan justifies the left turn lane, as previously, the left turners would hold up the westbound traffic.
I don't know why people insist on turning left northbound on Slocan there. if you're going north, you'd need to go down Nanaimo eventually when 22nd Ave ends there. You might as well turn at 29th Ave to get to Nanaimo and avoid 22nd.

It just so happens that my son has bike camp at Renfrew Elementary this week and I was going through that area twice a day. The left turn lane without a traffic light was interesting and left a mark.
I wouldn't have known otherwise.
That intersection has been a complete shit show for like the last 10 years, and 22nd is more rutted than the moon. It's uncomfortable even in the X5. I'm sorry you have to go through that, a Q7 is going to be hard to replace unless you go for another one.... Or a X7.

Tinted everything except the windshield at 70%. On top of the factory tint, that brings it to around ~50% all around. Could really tell the difference afterwards the effectiveness of the heat rejection. Sorry for the bad pics, I don't know how to take glamour shots like Matsuda FeelsBadMan

I had 35% tint on both my IS300 front windows for years, drove one of them every day to work never got any heat… I think it depends on the car and running into a random loser cop with a chip on their shoulder.
It’s not legal in Calgary either, I had to rip the front tint off to register my Mercedes here (pass inspection) and I immediately got it re-tinted 2 days later lol… like half the cars I see around here have front tint.
Calgary even steps it up a notch on the fuckboi meter, I see it around and the kid who tinted my Merc confirmed to me that quite a few people tint their windshields!! The fuck idiocy is that lol

If there's light differential front and back you can get away with it easier. A lighter interior or a sunroof would help as well since it would appear lighter.

This still looks a million times easier than doing a short shift kit on the stupid hitlerbox. All the linkages and cables are underneath the airbox. So to adjust anything requires you to get out, fuck around with Alain bolts, get back in the car and test it. It took me 8 hours to install a short shift kit cuz one Alan bolt too tight and I lost 3rd gear. Too loose and it’s sloppy as fuck.

Aye, I considered doing the shifter cable bushings, but pulling out half of the engine bay (Had I known I would have done it when I installed the HVI) seemed like too much of a hassle for the benefit.
But working on Japanese cars for sure is infinitely easier than any German car. Looking at VW/BMW engine bays, it's as if they designed it so you are deterred from doing anything.

you didnt like the stock honda shifty feely ? its one of the reasons why you buy a honda! best shifters on the market with mazda taking 2nd and probably.... sigh... bitch ass beetle 3rd.
Everything else is quite sloppy floppy and lame.
Is this you finally admitting that the 911 has the best available shift feel, period? :D
I haven't tried their latest stuff, but the 991 shifter is so damn good. Couldn't believe that it's cable actuated.

Id rather drive a manual sentra (they make these!!!) over a 992.2 911 any day of the week. Shift feel be damned.

Porsche shifters are good, but really not the holy grail. I test drove a 992.1 T last week. The shifter was accurate and tight, but plasticky in feel. It slots into gear fine but everything feels like plastic on plastic, it just doesn't feel substantial.
Also, first time driving the 7sp manual, I understand some people's complaint with it. It's a minor one, but the gates are so close together. Maybe I'm just used to wider gates but it was 5 detents going across left to right, which is crazy.

I find it's the clutch that's great on 911s more than the shifter itself especially with the 7 speed - 7th is a real reach and the gate spacing like you say is pretty tight so you have to be just a bit more mindful than on a 6 speed (they do lockout 7th if you're coming from 4th). The clutch, OTOH, felt exactly the way I always wanted - forgiving, communicative but still crisp.
I haven't driven that many manual cars (maybe 10-12?) but I like the shift feel of the TSX the best - that was the most mechanical of the bunch (bolt action) without much friction (the NC could be a bit of a grinder). The WRX and Mazda 3 were both too vague.

You guys should try S2000 shifter especially after a rebuild. Mine is a little tired, but still has the best shift feel out of any of the cars I've driven besides the new Emira manual.

You liked the Emira manual? I drove a pre-production one and thought it had way too much friction, the gates were good and the clutch was alright but the effort was too high for me. The build quality on the one I drove was terrible (the power steering pump would stop working when I put the car in reverse) so maybe it got a lot better later on.

The clutch was good, but I stalled it leaving the parking spot FeelsBadMan my man card might need to be revoked. But yes otherwise it was quite good. The auto rev match wasn't intrusive or laggy like BMW, but I turned it off anyways.
I've driven a lot of manual cars, but really spent a lot of time in around 10.
The TSX I drove had a messed up clutch so it was heavy as hell. Honda clutches are really short compared to almost everything else I've driven. Of the cars I've owned or driven extensively, my CRX was the best clutch and shifter combo. I have no idea if it was stock or not but it was just so good.
The NC drivetrain was meh, a lot of people say how good Miatas are but I didn't feel like it was that amazing.
WRX and Mazda 3 both have cable shifters that were not well reviewed. My Mazdaspeed 3, with shift plate and bushings and everything was still mushy and heavy to shift.
Of the cars I've not driven but sat in, GT3/GT4 is high up there for shifter feel. Surprisingly, a Merkur XR4Ti had the absolutely best shifter I've ever felt. It was modded of course but it was so clean, it just clicks into gear with a very satisfying tactile feel and a nice metallic tick.

I haven't tried the Emira yet, but I don't have a lot of hope. I've driven two Lotus Elises and they suck. I know Elise trannies are not great but if that's what Lotus can do I don't have a lot of hope for the tranny that's in the Emira.
I've driven a S2000 in a parking lot. It was not memorable enough for me to rate it. I should try another one some day but that's getting harder and harder. It would have been easier if I still autox but god damn autox is in Mission, and 6 minutes of seat time for a whole day commitment and 3 hours of there and back isn't a great time investment.

You have to drive one with fresh shifter rebuild and mounts as well (they're all shit even with low mileage because the rubber is 20 year olds).

I am more than happy to have you drive the S2000 for a bit and find some twisties/somewhere to open the motor up - the VTEC feel is unmatched. :D If you can wake up early there are many Sea to Sky drives on Sat/Sun around 6:30AM lol. S2000 around a parking lot is just sad - under 4k it's a gutless topless Civic.
The Emira transmission felt notchy in a good way, I didn't get to drive it drive it just around the block. Never driven Elise so I wouldn't know unfortunately.
I just did an auto-x yesterday, dancing the S2000 on the edge and driving it with the throttle to adjust the nose is such an amazing feeling. The way the car is so sensitive to throttle input on the edge/weight shift... amazing. If you have the skill you can make it do anything you want. Had a co-drive with a senior driver, really makes it apparent how high the limit is for a 20 year old chassis - was within striking distance of FTD and this was the first time he drove it!
It really sucks that we don't have the Pitt Meadows pad anymore, nowhere really good for auto-x in the Lower Mainland.

The NC drivetrain was meh, a lot of people say how good Miatas are but I didn't feel like it was that amazing.
With the NC, I feel like the stock engine mounts does not do the transmission nor the drivetrain any justice in terms of how good the mechanical bits are capable of delivering. As soon as you swap the squishy OE mounts out for some stiffened up mounts, the shift feel improves dramatically. It doesn't even have to be a stiff polyurethane mount either -- something with more and stiffer rubber was enough to noticeably to hold the drivetrain in place, and improve the shift feel by a noticeable amount.
Another weird quirk I found thru the ownership of my NC was -- the transmission / shifter has a certain position where it would just slide into the cog with the best and snugest feel, and it isn't all the way to the left or right when you to shift. For illustration purposes, let's just say the shifter can be pulled 100 units to the left when you want to shift into 1st or 2nd. But in reality, the slickest and most natural amount to pull to the left is actually somewhere in the 97 or 98 units range. So if you were pulling the shifter all the way to the left like I was for the longest time, you are actually slightly off from the ideal amount of pulling.
It also doesn't help that Mazda designed the shifter locking plate to be made out of plastic / fiber-reinforced plastic. That piece of garbage wears out over time from regular usage, allowing you to move the shifter well past the 100 unit mark.
https://i.imgur.com/GxAKxDR.jpg
As seen in the above pic, the left lockout plate is new, whereas the right lockout plate is worn. For reference, the lockout plate is oriented with the single hole facing up/forward, so the worn out part is from 1st and 2nd gear.
I wasn't aware of this for the longest time until I opened up my transmission tunnel trim pieces to add some tranny oil to the turret. I was too cheap to replace the lockout plate, so I just practiced and developed a feel to the amount of horizontal distance to move the shifter before putting the car into 1st or 2nd.

My NC was one of those cars where I just bought it to try out and I had an exit plan before I had even bought the car, so I just did maintenance on it and did not change anything. Don't get me wrong, the car was good and I miss it dearly, it's just not as magical as everyone had made it out to be.
The car what I would call racecar spec. GS(6sp LSD) no options no AC. It came with mods already, Megan coils, race muffler, and a tune on the surface, but it had mismatched tires.
I did all the basic maintenance (engine oil, coolant, tranny, diff, plugs) and threw on a set of used direzzas so I had at least matching tires. Also threw on a set of chassis braces at the behest of my friend who was buying the car from me.
At Pitt Meadows autox, the car was pretty damn good placing midpack in STX and a shit ton of fun, Miata magic. Would have done better if I ran RE71R/BFG Rival like everyone else. One particular outlier though was my car was FASTER than Mitch's FBO and prepped NC in a straight line. On one particular autox weekend, it was full throttle from the start box to the first braking point. I was hitting the rev limiter at the top of 2nd before I needed to brake, I sought out Mitch to see what I should be doing and he was a bit dumbfounded because he's not hitting the limiter. He has a 07 and mine was a 06, we even have the same colour (galaxy gray mica)
The car is currently apart awaiting for 2.5 swap. We haven't cracked open the engine but it feels like we have a ringer or it might have a hotter cam. We also found that it has a Mazdaspeed engine mount already as well when I bought it. My friend tried to replace the mount but the one on it was identical. He thinks it MIGHT have been raced at one point but was reverted back to street.

Most people learn from friends or family who have manual cars (mostly enthusiasts these days) but the percentage is very low. 5% or less IMO.

EU ppl gotta pass their license test in a stick but IME they’re sloppy with grinding gears and not rev matching.
EU manuals seem easy to drive: the Fiat 500 mild hybrid was impossible to stall, even parallel parking on a hill in lisbon.

Car was fine for 2 weeks after the install, but on my drive home last night I did a mildly aggressive shift and felt something come loose, but was still able to shift. 2 blocks from my house, and I could feel the shifter cable had popped off from the shifter base. Couldn't shift. I pulled over with the clutch still depressed. I was locked in 3rd gear, so was able to drive the 2 blocks and pull into my garage.
Pulled everything off again, and re-attached the cable base and ensured it clipped it properly (according to my expert mechanic opinion... :(). Quadruple checked it was secure. Put everything back together. RIP 1x clip from the cupholder.
Drove to work this morning, feels ok. But super paranoid that it's going to slip again. Have my tool bag in my trunk ready for roadside repair if needed...

Rumored Chinese regulation in development, to ban electric door handles.
It's so bad for safety that even China wants it to end. :lol
According to an R&D professional from a car manufacturer who spoke to Mingjing Pro (明镜Pro) on September 4, discussions are underway regarding new regulations that would explicitly prohibit fully retractable door handles. Semi-retractable and traditional door handles would still be permitted, but critically, they must incorporate mechanical redundancy to ensure reliable operation.
Amending the law in this way makes a lot of sense, and frankly, should’ve happened a long time ago. While flush-fit door handles look cool, entirely motorizing them adds a failure point to a critical safety feature that simply shouldn’t be necessary. After all, vehicles can lose 12-volt power either because of a discharged low-voltage battery or because a collision has severed the supply of low-voltage electricity, at which point requiring a supply of energy to simply open the doors becomes a genuine safety hazard. Hopping the link over to Mingjing Pro, there is some data out there to quantify issues caused by motorized door handles, at least if we trust Google Translate:
C-IASI crash tests show that models equipped with electronic door handles have a door ejection success rate of only 67% after a side collision, far lower than the 98% for mechanical door handles.
Furthermore, according to statistics from the China Consumers Association, complaints of children’s fingers being pinched by hidden door handles increased by 132% year-on-year in 2024, with one brand even resulting in a child’s finger being broken.

Yes! It's easily the best $330 I've spend because I can keep multiple cars out of the sun/rain year round. My only regret was I didn't get one sooner.
Which tent did you get/do they have different sizes? I'm thinking to get one for my RV parking spot to protect a car... there's quite high winds time to time in Calgary though, how is it anchored?

The one I bought was this one:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DS4D6J49?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details
The legs are anchored to the driveway with bolts and I've also secured the upper part of the tent by tying it down with rope to both my neighbor's fences on the left and right side of the house. I've had no issues and it's been great so far, even on windy days

A guy with two garages in his house needs another tent for car storage. PogChamp

got this quote today. :rukidding:
ive never seriously looked into having a car wrapped until now, but in the past ive been loosely quoted by a shop $4-5k for a color change wrap on the f80 m3 and $10k for ppf on the tundra.
today i went to the same shop for a more serious quote. i understand everything has gone up in price but am i trippin? $5500 taxed in to wrap 80% of a mini? the vinyl theyre using is avery, not even the fancy stuff like inozetek. oh and the quote is before adding all the lego logos, so basically just yellow covering up the grey. the $150 discount is because my car was previously paint corrected so its less prep for them.
edit: also gonna see if STUD vanity plate is available HAHAHA

5k to wrap a mini and 10k to ppf a truck seems insane to me.

I just asked my cousin, it was $5000 rmb to wrap his model y with teckwrap? He said it probably would be $3-4000 if he used cheaper stuff. FeelsBadMan
What is this tax you speak of, cash deal price what kinda Asian are you

So I met up with djstylez and he said his inzoetec wrap failed after about a year only. He had nardo grey on his gti.
My stupid wrap on the ratrolla has been fine but remember she only had 10,000kms on her and has been in the garage for 3 years. If you street park the car, or don’t maintain the exterior, wraps are not for you. They’ll fail prematurely. The UV will destroy the wrap in a short amount of time.
I would suggest colored ppf. Give Vancity vinyl a call. Their boss named Jacky is really quite a nice guy and pricing is way more reasonable

How do you define fail? Peeling? Colour fade?

Yeah it faded, no gloss and it end up lifting I think ? He’s on here. Maybe he can comment some more.

I don't recommend wrapping your car if you street park, for what Badhobz said. Paint also fades over time, so if you have any exposed paint from the wrap, if the wrap ever comes off you'll see a difference.

How do you define fail? Peeling? Colour fade? The Inozetek looked GREAT for about 1.5 years. Then it started developing stains, the beginning of which I could get out but then the stains that came after became more permanent. About 2 years into it the wrap started to lose gloss in areas like the hood and the trunk and looked like total shit. I decided to leave it on over the winter but in year 3 I had it removed. The wrap had bonded to the paint in several areas and took the paint with it when it was removed! I will admit it looked awesome in year 1-1.5 and I wish it could've lasted longer.
Full disclosure: I kept the car as clean as I could during the 3 years it was wrapped but the GTI was/is parked outside for 365 days a year. If you car is garage kept your Inozetek wrap would probably last longer than mine did.

There used to be a shop in Richmond called Cheap Autobody. You got what you paid for but they did the job for cheap.

Jacky and the crew at Vancity Vinyl were great and I wouldn't hesitate to use them if I decided to get another car wrapped/PPF'd. They weren't the ones who wrapped the GTI but they were the ones that removed it.

I was about to use that guy.
My car was in the shop for warranty so I was given a loaner. I took it drifting the put the frontend into a tree, mangled the bumper. I booked an appoitment with him and on the way to the shop, the car was side swiped by a big F250 and totaled.
Thank god

I wouldnt use my wrapwerkz guys. i mean the job is okay, did a pretty decent job cuz its still on the ratrolla and its holding up fine, but at almost 10k for the wrap, its retarded. plus it took him ~1 month to get the job done. you try being without your car for 1 month when it only had 47kms on it... not easy i tell you whuuaatt.
I met those vancity vinyl guys when i got my dashcam hardwired, they also did my brake caliper painting (300 bucks for all 4!) he quoted me for the wrap job and it was 5-6k vs almost 10k.

Also, good paint (i.e. with proper prep, sanding, etc) is going to be 10K plus. Otherwise you might as well rattlecan that shit.

How long is that wrap supposed to last? I'm surprised it's so shit only after 3 years. Considering wrap has been around for so long, and it was professionally done.

My guy told me 5-7 years. After 7 years should probably remove if you don’t want damage to paint underneath.

Your problem with the paint coming off comes back to it being parked outside 365. I really don't recommend wrapping if the car has to be parked outside all the time.

As you get closer to 5 years, the glue isn't the same anymore. Removal becomes more difficult.

Correct, I wouldn't recommend it for cars that are parked outside but it wasn't something I had considered when I first had it done. Live and learn I guess, at least it "only" cost me $3K all in to have it wrapped.

For what it's worth, when I was getting PPF done on the M3, I hesitated because I didn't want to blow 5k on a full wrap, but was worried about the PPF leaving a noticeable fade mark on the paint because I was only doing a track wrap.
That was precovid so I was still driving the car to work. It's become a non issue since the car sits in the garage 90% of the time.

What is the material difference is there between a normal wrap and a track wrap?
Badhobz
09-17-2025, 11:15 AM
i would figure the regular one would be thicker due to rock chips and shit.... what sort of kickup does the track have besides some minor gravel ?

A track wrap is when you are cheap and only wrap bits of the car that get dinged and not the whole car. Nothing to do with the material itself and everything to do with my insufficient wallet
