Do you know if they offer a washing package like Goldstar and Autoking? I'd love to have Japanese girlos touch my cars :ilied:

needed a car wash so I decided to try out sensha-ya... a RS sponser. Overall, the service was good. Very fast wash.. less than 10 minutes but they did miss a spot on the bottom passenger door. They were all japanese and had difficulty understanding english. Before I told them what I wanted them to do, they started to wash the car while I was still inside the car lol. Then they told me to step out and they started to clean the interior. I told them to stop because I didn't want to pay more for interior cleaning. When I went inside to pay, I was expecting to pay $25 like advertised on the website but I was only charged just over $16. Probably there was a promotion that I wasn't aware about. I remember RS having a thread on this carwash place and how you guys praised about all the LGs washing their cars. Well, there were two cute girls working today and washing my car :fullofwin:

I'll definitely try to make it out to the spring meet. I study at Allard Hall just up the road. I actually drive down to UBC from downtown, so I take Granville bridge to W 4th street all the way down until it forks off into NW Marine drive. Its a much prettier drive then W 4th/chancellor blvrd...

Now, granted, I'm a bit of a hippie, but, living out of a Westfalia parked at Spanish Banks doesn't sound like a terrible idea. It would have been much more spacious than my dorm at UBC, and a lot bloody cheaper, and a better view. The lack of a shower would be a complication, jump in the ocean?

Almost. Its one of the few styles that are almost exactly the same. These are rays victrix. Also SSR A-dish and an old school work wheel are almost identical. These were just fully polished, all new hardware, and are basically good as new. So stoked. 18x8s and 9s. Slightly higher offset than my borbets so I can run 40 series tires instead of 35s. That means I can take the perches and lower locking collars off the coils and still be able to drive. MORE TUCK :fullofwin:

normally BMW recommended their own 5w-30 high performance oil. You need a 5w-30 or 5w-40 synthetic oil in that car. Your current M1 0w-40 is a fine oil for that car. On my dads N52 motor I run Lubro Moly 5w-40 engine oil. I use this on all my European cars and am pleased. I have also cut the 25,000km oil change intervals by BMW to around 8,000km.

Not really done to my vehicle today, but more like, over the past few days.

Got my JDM spoiler on Monday, started to prep the car and the spoiler itself so I can fit it. Painting the entire car this winter anyway, so no shortcuts!

Took the rear wing off, found some rust and have been sanding it away. Still have a final bit to get rid of. Then started filling in the deep scratches and gouges on the wing. Also been helping a couple of people with (badly) painting their lips, so all the paint fumes, bondo and other random crap flying around can't be good for my lungs, even with a mask lol.

Pics spoilered, just cuz.

what a fucking bitch to do! the basics are there, just the space is so damn tight on the 430.
- take the p/s pulley off, cant go from up top unless you take out the tensioner as well.
- hard to take out from bottom cuz the damn hard p/s lines and tranny lines are in the way. not to mention the coolant hose and damn rad fan.

finally got the old one out, cleaned, fixed, and amped up, and back into the car. gonna feel the pain tomorrow.

It might look like it, but there are certain parts that would require more work. Not to mention the fact that it's missing a nose. Everything that we need is there, but there are some things that are less than desirable deep down on this one, which is why it's chopped in half already.

Shitty, Thought i had to change a tire when i hit a manhole on Fraser hwy going towards langley near 168th. I was braking when i hit it and it sounded like my tire blew up or the strut/ball joint gave out.... i pulled the car off onto a side road and inspected the car :S then went back to my house and lifted it in the garage.. pryed twisted and turned everything, thankfully it feels and looks fine.. Not a damn clue. Was out to test the alternator since I it took it apart and cleaned it up along with the rotor cap and plugs. Cars it running healthy

While installing this I realized why I was getting so much road noise while driving the car, to install these visors the weather stripping had to be removed. I noticed that on the front passenger side window the weather stripping was very loose and that let in a lot of outside noise/wind. After installing I re-installed the weather stripping properly and tightly and lo and behold, no more road noise!

Here is how the vents work.

http://i.imgur.com/9IZSc.jpg

Air that is rushing over the hatch enters from the vents under the window, it's sent into ducting that exits through the holes at the bottom of the hatch. What it does is create negative air pressure to suck humid air out of the cabin (green highlighted slot), as humidity is what caused a lot of rust in these cars (240z's).

What year? Any 240Z after 1970 has vented quarter panels, it's what Datsun changed to when they realised that it would be cheaper than a hatch setup. The vents are under the emblems on the quarter panels, take the emblems off and reach into the hole in the quarter panel, it goes up into a chamber. That chamber is the replacement for the hatch, air rushing by the quarter panel sucks cabin air out.

Nice, that's kind of what I'm aiming at doing with this one body wise. We might also be sticking an L28 in, you just can't bore L24's as much as the L28's, thinner walls. I'd love a 3.0 or 3.1 stroker.

Jesse, just wondering how their shipping to Canada is. Did you get it shipped to your door? What carrier and how bad was brokerage? Value of item?

Thanks

Qmx323
01-13-2013, 05:53 PM
rockauto ships to canada rather economically... i've never been hit with brokerage from them and ive ordered from 10 dollars to 400 dollars worth of parts.

also... broke down and decided to buy a OBDII to USB cable... after hours of fiddling with it in Windows 7, found out it works on XP the best.

But I am happy that I read my codes and luckily none of them were current codes, all stored codes. Cleared them and the CEL is off (for now) i hope.

Also being able to see your MPG as you drive (i know most new cars have this) is a pretty sweet feature

JesseBlue
01-13-2013, 08:06 PM
the shipping was about 25 or so which should include everything...overall still cheaper than places from within canada...ie my wires were 77 bux shipped while autopartsway woukdve been 100 shipped and that would depend too if they have 'shipping specials'...

you just have to check and make sure what you get comes from the same location (it'll tell you at the check out) or you'll be billed separate shipping, that's if your planning to purchase more than one item

I should wash mine.. but it's full of holes right now, too lazy to mask up. :fuckthatshit:

But I did continue paint prep. Took of more of the side trim, and removed almost all of the badges. The MR2 one between the reverse lights is staying, I'll just have it masked when it goes for paint. And man, the trim and lights on the front bumper were a total biatch to take off, I've never been scratched so much by a fender liner and splash guard.

The trim above the rear side vent requires me to take apart some of the interior to get at one nut holding it in from the inside, gonna wait for my dad to do that, since I have a terrible history of snapping and breaking interior trim :lawl: Also gotta remove all that adhesive later, oh joy.

Edit: Got one of the side vents off just now, man it was a pain. I'll do the other one tomorrow or something.
