I should wash mine.. but it's full of holes right now, too lazy to mask up. :fuckthatshit:
But I did continue paint prep. Took of more of the side trim, and removed almost all of the badges. The MR2 one between the reverse lights is staying, I'll just have it masked when it goes for paint. And man, the trim and lights on the front bumper were a total biatch to take off, I've never been scratched so much by a fender liner and splash guard.
The trim above the rear side vent requires me to take apart some of the interior to get at one nut holding it in from the inside, gonna wait for my dad to do that, since I have a terrible history of snapping and breaking interior trim :lawl: Also gotta remove all that adhesive later, oh joy.
Edit: Got one of the side vents off just now, man it was a pain. I'll do the other one tomorrow or something.

its the seat belt assembly that gets in the way. held on by one bolt. unbolt that then you have access to the two bolts holding onto the trim/ vent!

Yeah, I figured that out :P I just happened to do the driver side first, so my sub, then trim then seat belt assembly had to come out. Pass side was easier, less crap in the way haha.

Began the painful proccess of polishing aluminum , my upper intake manifold. I die grinded off this lip if you notice its gone in the 3rd pic on the lower front of the mani :)
this is just dry sanding to 420 grit, gonna get all the pitting and orange peely crap off then move to wet sanding then eventually polish :D

Plastidipped right over top of the chrome. All I did was wipe it down and sprayed it. It was 0 degree outside so the spray pattern was a little wacky but it came out pretty good. Except I took off some paint the other night when I put it into a snowbank.

Starting to rip out the interior for some sound deadening. Had insulation in there before but going to cover the interior in fatmat and then put the insulation back on top of it. Adds a bit of weight but I don't mind if the cabin will be a lot quieter. Trying to get a good balance between performance and comfort

Took off my bumper to finally install the intakes that have been lying in my garage for a while. Since the bumpers off, decided to take off my headlights as well. Going to take them apart to swap out the lens and also paint the housing gunmetal :) Also painting my front strut bar and engine cover, just trying to find a subtle but nice color atm..

Prying the 370z headlight was a bitch, because my headlight didn't fit in my oven and we had to reheat it like 3 times before being able to pry the whole thing apart. There are a lot of DIYs out there, though there isn't much to it other than taking apart all the screws, baking it, then just prying it and cutting the sealant with a flat head or something
Baking process.. Took us a good 4 hours with baking it multiple times and prying for the 370z headlight. 350z headlight took less than an hour for both >_>

Painted my housing a matte gunmetal color with a slight hint of flakes in the paint. Wanted a darker color but didn't have many high temp paint choices. At the same time didn't want it too dark because I dislike the look of a black headlight on a black car, so I guess this turned out okay. No more chrome :)

Using ProTect Dip to paint the badge. Turn out greater than plastidip.
Protectdip is smoother on surface than plastidip.

Opinions? Thinking of taking the winters off and putting my set of general g-max as-03 on. They are known as 'all weather" while quite not winter tires...a sort of hybrid for light snow.
The generals are mounted on my 18s so my car can look sexy again ...should I do it? Here we are in Feb and temps are averaging 4-7 with just rain rain rain.
^not yet. Nobody knows winter weather in Vancouver.

I ran Nokian WRG2 All weathers last 2 years on my civic and did fine. They did pretty well going up cypress but I would still run dedicated winters if you plan on going to Whistler or something

Acura604, Do you realize you are always the 1st to ask every year, " Should I swap my winter tires out ?"
IMO, You shouldn't get winter tires in the 1st place

Cleaned out the engine breather hose on Butternut (yellow condensation snot - happens in the winter :\) Did a valve adjustment on my fathers MG; everything went better than expected - only busted one knuckle. I was going to do one on the Mini but I don't have a spare valve cover gasket handy, they're cork and can rip easily, so it will have to wait until next week.

Spent a total of around 8 hours detailing my winter beater last night, no idea why.. I guess the teg is really starting to grow on me. Did a full claybar, polish, and wax on the entire car and now every single panel is slippery smooth :) Got rid of quite a bit of haze and swirls on the paint. Now my integra's paint looks slightly better than my 370 :s In a few weeks when I have my 370z back off of jackstands I should probably give that car a thorough detail as well

as for ITR, i dont think i wouldve kept it.. that car gave me nothing but headaches and bad luck...
if i had a lot of room at home and parking space wasnt an issue... i would have kept the Z at home.. same goes for the Supra.

I have my list of cars too but it's way too long....last I counted it's like....19 cars since 03.
Anyway I kept the best, forgot the rest and moved on. Now I don't go buy random stuff just coz it's kind of cute.
I kept my
97 C36 AMG - dat highway cruiser
96 Infiniti Q45 - dat manual RWD luxobarge that drifts better than most thinks. But it's too similar to the C36 really other than being manual converted.
84 Corolla SR5 + S2000 motor - dat track car. it's impossible to find a rust free example like that these days. And hooning in it on tracks is hellafun.
10 Nissan Cube - dat box. the sensible daily driver that my dad likes a lot in the end, despite it had hellapoke wheels and all that.
anyway keeping with the topic:
I put in genuine Junction Produce Fusa and kitsuna I scored at the TAS2013. The car looks BAUSS with that on.

And then it looks cheap because there is a superstore shopping box in the back seat rofl.

ASR, Why the Mazda filter? I thought you had an Evo? Or for different car?
Because Mazda Black Tokyo Roki filter bypass pressure is 20-26PSI, and the thread and rubber ring shape are really close to Evo one. I used to use Subaru JDM Tokyo Roki filter on the car, but the cost is way higher than Mazda JDM one. Material is mostly same. They are all made by Tokyo Roki in Japan.

So yeah, maybe I didn't do EVERYTHING myself here but I did haul the engine out myself (with help from a few friends) before I turn it to the machine shop

Not my cars but:
Diagnostic and plugs on buddys Mazda6 (fuck, iridiums are spendy) (thx, Al)
Half of nabs rear brakes. One bolt was a bit rounded so he brought it over. I did one side and learned him how to do the other.
As IceBoy said... got the rear pads and rotors on today with his help, also painted the rear calipers today. pics soon.. im tired.

Where did you buy the g2 kit? I was going to buy a dupli caliper color kit at CT, but I heard it chips or wears a lot quicker than the G2 paint.
got it off a buddy who got it from CT.
prep is the key though. anything can look bad if its not prepped properly.

^^ I've never used the brush on kind, I'm worried that it will turn out uneven, visible paint strokes or blotchy?
cuz the colour that I want from the VHT spray can is not exactly what I'm looking for.

^ Sadly I can't do that on my civic, otherwise the fuses will burn out.
While I was driving, the led lights were dead for like 1 minute in the dark, so I couldn't see the speedometer until it came back on but started flicking for a bit then back on. :fulloffuck:

Did you have to reprogram the remote on the switch blade fob?

It looks like one of those ones where you have to remove the inside on the old remote and install it into the new casing so don't need to program.

Got off work early so I ended up putting in the turbo inlet hose the hard way... Won't be able to put it back together cause Subaru won't have my gaskets till next week.

Delete 30% metal bolts under Engine bay, swap in the alumium washer kits. It saves 2 KG weights. 30% finished, 70% to go. So tired.
Raged.

Made a new rad shroud for the volvo fan. Cost less than $20 for everything. Just need to weld the tabs on.
Volvo electric fans are really nice. I got 2 setups for $60. They are a 2 speed fan and have a nice self contained relay unit that ramps up the fan so there isn't a huge amperage draw like a taurus setup.
I'm doing all this to install a 2000+ vitara rad so my hoses are routed better for the diesel swap.

Also washed the rear part of my car leaving it shiny and the rest full of dirt haha
On the daily I...
- tightened ebrake cable
- tightened the nut that comes with the Blox 490g shift knob so the knob part of it centers properly
- ripped apart center console to install new aux. input cable that goes in the back of my deck
- took the opportunity to reroute the power cable through the console to the cigarette lighter for the dash cam
Been itching to insure the Miata but told myself I wouldn't until a few days before the Spring meet... trying hard to abide to this!
