Weed is fun and relatively harmless
If you're a nostalgic type of person you'll love it. The visualization aspect is my favourite thing about weed... Memories are in your eyes instead of your mind, if that makes any sense.
If you're really high strung you might not like it though, it tends to bring up anxiety issues

I used to smoke a lot. Since I had quit, I became much more motivated. The reason I quit, is because I was ok with being bored.
Since all this has started, the lack of socialization has made me bored, and I fucking hate it. It's the ultimate source of stress. I figured maybe I need to be ok with being bored again.

Similar boat, it just never came up (am I really that lame? fuck) til I had a really job with potential drug testing and it didn't seem worth risking it. The smell of some strains (?) can be pretty rank to me too so I never had much interest.
But I haven't been able to drink for like 5 years, I haven't smoked anything for a dozen and a cup of tea in the morning isn't exactly cutting it with my stress level these days so I'm getting pretty tempted to try just about anything.
I definitely have anxiety issues and fuck knows what else though so maybe I should just try a second cup of tea in the morning lol.

anxiety issues?, Yes if you go overboard and do too much, while "Fighting it".... you're gonna go in fight mode while being on edge.
i'd say take one puff and stay there to see how you will react, have some activities you like to do with music playing or video games, movies while in the mix.
don't just sit there and think how much shit can go wrong cause "i'm too high" or someone judging you on the spot "what the fuck are you high for?" lol .

Another thing for Canada to take note of maybe? Like 90% of the new cases here are being caught in the 3 week quarantine camp of incoming travelers, including like 24 of them on one single flight from India monkaS
Normally they ban specific routes, but now doing a full ban of 3 countries sending in a lot of people infected with variants.
Seal the borders and deal with it internally after that!

I know ... very rare ... but this is the demographic that is supposedly the most safe for the AZ vaccine .. namely male >55, this guy is 60. Before anyone goes off about risk of blood clot vs. getting Coronavirus .. that's not the true A or B. comparison or option. It is take the AZ now or wait for 2 weeks for your age group to get Pfizer or Moderna. Most people over 55 can wait.
Alberta case of blood clot from AZ:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/astrazeneca-first-blood-clot-alberta-1.5991997
The case was identified in a man in his 60s after receiving the vaccine, according to a statement released by Alberta's chief medical officer of health on Saturday.
"While this case is unfortunate, it does not change the risk assessment that I have previously communicated to Albertans," Dr. Deena Hinshaw said during a teleconference.

This guy worked in one of Bill Gates vaccine programs... I was randomly watching a part of a video of his stating the corona anti-bodies that the vaccines make will attack future variants of the the virus but will not be effective, in fact they will compete against normal antibodies, making the infection worse.
Im sure he has more important points, but I can compare that to the multi pill synthetic vitamins that would compete with real vitamins, retarding ones health.

Under its updated timetable, B.C. is asking millennials and Gen-Xers to register on the following schedule:
Monday, April 19 – Registration opens for people aged 40 and up
Tuesday, April 20 – Registration opens for people aged 35 and up
Wednesday, April 21 – Registration opens for people aged 30 and up
Thursday, April 22 – Registration opens for people aged 25 and up
Friday, April 23 – Registration opens for people aged 18 and up
Registration has been open for anyone to do so for the past several weeks. This entire "age X is now open to register" is nothing more than trying to make it seem like they're making progress.

Lol I got hella confused, I "registered" a couple weeks ago via some BC website and got a confirmation number which they told me is important and would make it easier. Then there's the register in age bracket thing and coworker is saying nah it's different, the first one was just to registered to be notified for the real registration? Talked to neighbour who registered and was confused as hell ... she thought now she can get an apt today for the vaccine.
Really silly and stupid question but why can't you register and book an appointment with one call or one visit to the website ... one. Is that too much to ask for?

How old are you? I was under the impression that even if you registered already they still only get back to you about an appointment when your age group is next in line.
I think its to see how many of us are actually in the province and allowing for better allocation.

They were pretty clear.
Register when your age group is eligible to register, so that the system doesn't get overloaded by those that are way down the line.
They will contact you when your age group is eligible. Unless you're 55+, you aren't getting vaccinated yet. Thats all been communicated.

The email confirmation after you register also says:
CRS, thank you for registering.
This is your first of three steps to get immunized against COVID-19.
Your registration confirmation number is: A-BCD123
Be sure to save this number.
It will make step two, booking your vaccination appointment, quick and easy.
We’ll contact you when it’s your turn to book a vaccination appointment.
To make sure your notification email doesn’t end up in a spam folder, add us to your address book.
My critique of the system in place would be that there should have been a verification system that tells those registering that they've already registered so that there aren't duplicate entries. This would also let people know that this registration and the age registration is the same thing.

Looks like the latest schedule to 'register' is the same process as this post from a few weeks ago quoted below.
Except back when I first shared it there was no instructions about age specific groups registering at any given time, just sounded like it was an open registration and you would be contacted once your group was up.
I THINK that is the case, the messaging from health authorities are just so confusing...
You can pre-register for vaccination online now, even if you are not eligible yet. They'll reach out via email or sms on how to book an appt when you become eligible:

This didn't age well.
I always love when a prank caller gets through on cbc' BC Today. Today a man called in saying we should have road checks, with guards, and (now in a bad german accent) said you must produce your papers, as proof you don't have Covid. Only this time, the host took the call seriously and posed the question to her guest. The guest just said there would be logistical and legal difficulties, and so on. Funny and scary when obvious satire is mistaken for legitimate suggestions of authoritarian measures, and people are willing to consider them.

Further to what I posted yesterday this isn't news breaking information it's posted I honestly never seen it until this morning, posting in case anyone else was in the dark like myself. It does look like certain postal codes are getting priority, ie: if you live in an area where they haven't taken it as serious and infection rates are high you get priority (Yes we're talking most of Surrey, but not the area I live in for some reason lol). Probably all part of the meta game, their just smarter then the rest of us. :) It looks like anyone 40+ can get the AstraZeneca shot at the Pharmacy which makes sense, I see some of you posted above about making appointments.
General population
Everyone living B.C. will have the opportunity to get the vaccine for free in 2021. Your vaccine appointment will be scheduled when you are eligible, based on your age.
Priority neighbourhoods
People born in 1981 or earlier (40+) who live in high-transmission neighbourhoods can register and get contacted to book their vaccine appointment on the same day.
Check if you live in a high-transmission neighbourhood
High-transmission neighbourhoods are located in 13 communities across B.C.

It looks like once you register depending on your postal code you might be able to book right away.
If you're in an area with high infection rate you'll get it quicker.
Or am I totally missing something?
I'm in one of the 13 high-risk areas, however, I did not get a notification from the government to book an appointment (I've been registered for a few weeks). I merely tried booking at various pharmacies in the area, because of the new eligibility for 40+ w/ Astra-Zeneca and was successfully able to book an appointment.

Most people know this by now, but in case people don't, NO, you do NOT have to re-register if you have already registered previously before the age groups were announced according to the FAQ:
https://immunizebc.ca/ask-us/questions/i-registered-my-age-group-was-open-registration-will-i-stay-queue-or-do-i-need
Question:
I registered before my age group was open for registration. Will I stay in the queue or do I need to register again?
Answer:
You will not need to register again. You will receive an email or text (depending on what you chose) when you are eligible to book a vaccination appointment.

They're doctors. It's what they do.
In a level 3 triage scenario, patients who have a greater than 70% chance of surviving twelve months from the onset of critical illness (based on an evaluation of their clinical presentation at the point of triage) should be prioritized.

I remember years back reading about an incident of a Measles outbreak at a school where the teens infected were the vaccinated one and not the none vaccinated.
So we can presume what happened was teens with natural immunity were stronger compared to the vaccinated which had damaged immunity from the vaccines.
Who's smart enough to say that western vaccines arent designed in a way to fail in the future?
No guaranteed medical dollar amount compensation is a sign thats its all jacked up.

The only way to gain your "natural immunity" is to actually get the measles. This is no different than getting the MMR vaccine since this particular vaccine uses an attenuated live virus. The infection and immune response is the same as if you got the actual virus.

Welll, I’d say you’re doing some pretty fantastical logical gymnastics with your causal relationships, but that’s like saying that water is wet at this point.
There’s not a company that’s ever existed making anything in this world that is going to advertise creation of a fund for if their product fails...
I don’t believe your measles situation one bit, it simply didn’t happen or is anecdotal at best.

Another example of a vaccine failure, but not really proving CDC's point as non-vaccinated kids also caught the virus.

So far, Hong Kong has not paid a single dime from that indemnity fund to the victims of vaccine death since authorities have steadfastedly refused to acknowledge the vaccines played a role in causing those deaths. I don't remember the exact count now, but I think something like 13 deaths out of 15 are from China's Sinovac vaccine? To save Communist China's face, the HKSAR gov would never officially recognize the deaths as being caused by the vaccine.

Since then on weve had quite the animal farming, city sewage and spreading of diseases, but once soap was popularized it basically stopped premature deaths, not vaccines.
Why are old people dying of Covid anyway because their DNA hasent changed overtime... its because theyve lost their traditional way of life as in eating grass fed meat and soaking in the sun... most of us are industrialized servants today.

Why do westerners have the most health problems despite having the highest expenditures in the health system?
Can we even believe the life expectancy rates?
The health system is profit driven and the doctors are just trained robots. I think 'Rockefeller medicine' was behind the following cancer virus... create the problem, profit from the 'solution'.
Tens of millions of Americans were exposed to this virus between 1955 and 1963 as a consequence of adventitious contamination of the early poliovirus vaccines, produced in Asian macaque kidney cell cultures. By 1961, between 80% to 90% of all US children younger than 20 years had been injected at least once with formalin-inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) containing SV40
Theres a CBC documentary I posted in this thread featuring a child with an SV40 virus, rare cancer tumor in its brain which it contracted from its mother who had the Polio vaccine.

Has any death been linked to any vaccine anywhere in the world? Out of like 300 million doses so far?
Do you pay attention to the news? or do you just selectively filter them out?
There have been a small number of blood clotting deaths after the person received AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. And then there are the Sinovac ones in Hong Kong. The HKSAR gov has certainly been refusing to acknowledge the post-vaccine deaths were linked to Sinovac. But if you were a 65+ years old person with chronic illnesses, are you going to take a Sinovac jab?
At the end of the day, it really just comes down to that.

There have been deaths after vaccinations yes, but nothing directly correlated AFAIK. If they have please share the link...
And I mean anywhere in the world, not just HK
An overweight diabetic with heart disease dying of a heart attack after getting the vaccine does not necessarily mean it was a vaccine death.
Traum

Do you associate the blood clotting deaths after vaccination with AZ or JJ to be something directly correlated with the vaccine? The risks are extremely small, but parts of the world are making that association strong enough to warrant banning the vaccine or restricting its use to certain lower risk age groups.
Sinovac vaccination among the 60+ yrs old group in the world is rare, mostly because the damn vaccine has a recommendation usage age of 18 - 59. The Hong Kong people who died after the Sinovac vaccination are mostly 60+ yr olds, and tend to have pre-existing health conditions. Do you associate the death with the vaccine? or do you associate it to the pre-existing health conditions?

All I want is some official correlation of a death being caused by any vaccine. Not someone who died after a vaccine, but a known case of "this person died because of the vaccine and they would have lived if they had not taken it".
I'm not saying it's impossible or I won't believe you if you show me... I just want to see it. Because AFAIK (and I don't know everything) it hasn't happened yet.
HK lists in great detail everyone who gets sick enough to go to a hospital, even if they have a headache or something. The reports look like this
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzdnGKQUYAMX-gA.jpg
and when someone dies after a vaccine, they put out the information in great detail, including age and sex, and any existing ailments they had.. Including BioNTech btw, not just Sinovac. Without exception, everyone has had diabetes and hypertension. In some cases they had other issues like high cholesterol. Almost all of them were smokers. Also a couple pregnant women have had miscarriages, and they started telling pregnant women not go get them yet, despite other countries allowing it. It's most likely that the miscarriages are coincidental, but they are being extra cautious.
There's plenty to be mad about with the HK govt, to say the least. But when it comes to covid, they are handling it strictly and transparently, and have been effective at keeping the damage very low. 0 local cases today btw.
Compare this to the shit show going on in Canada, and I don't see how you can be mad. You're looking for something that isn't there.
BTW they also release detailed info on how many people get vaccinated each day. Here's yesterday:
Sinovac: 4,622 received 1st dose. Total 385,181
8,550 received 2nd dose. Total 241,908
BioNTech: 12,618 received 1st dose. Total 373,498
238 received 2nd dose. Total 149,068
1st dose: 758,679
Fully vaccinated: 390,976
3100 people booked for Sinovac that day, 14,000 booked for BioNTech
4-5X as many people are getting BioNTech now. Eventually they'll run out of Sinovac, and probably will stop using it. They were going to introduce AZ, but stopped. They tried to get J&J but there's not enough being made yet for other countries.

I may be wrong here but from my understanding most of these clots linked to vaccines have not resulted in death? Traum is making it sound like every reported clot was a death as a result of that clot.
There may be a small proportion of the already small proportion of clot discoveries, that actually resulted in death. I mean people develop clots (DVT) just by sitting on a plane too long.

You’ve gotta think with all these walk up places having vaccines that a bunch are getting wasted.
I have noticed however that there are numerous large vaccination clinics popping up including the old Fortius building (RIP :( ) as well as a big make shift one being setup at BCIT so I’m assuming they are anticipating a big ramp up

Theres only 5-6 doses per vial, so there’s no reason more than 5 could really get wasted per place, and the AstraZeneca is much more shelf stable than the others. There’s really no reason any should get wasted unless someone is super negligent or they all expire because people are too afraid of it.

Just to add on to this. Old batch of AstraZeneca expired beginning of April. New batch of AZ has a few months until expiry (I think May). Pharmacy's keep it in the fridge until the dose is needed. After the dose is drawn, it's straight back into the fridge. Anyone over 40 (since that's the current age limit) should be able to easily get AZ if they want it. If they want to try and get Pfizer or Moderna instead, then they will need to go to through the portals to go to places like Fortis and Central park.

You are quite correct that officially, no death has been directly tied to any of the known COVID vaccines at this point. The only way you're gonna get something like that is if the person has an anaphylactic reaction to the vaccine, but all vaccination sites would already have countermeasures ready to treat that.
There have been 19 deaths in Hong Kong where the deceased person has recently been vaccinated for COVID. 17 of those had been vaccinated with China's Sinovac vaccine. As you said, all of them of at least some sort of chronic illness, usually multiple issues. IIRC, most of them are elderly people in the 60+ range. Again, I am going to point out that Sinovac's official recommendation is to only use the vaccine on those who are 18 - 59.
Obviously you refuse to acknowledge that the Sinovac vaccine can lead to death. You also think Hong Kong's handling of COVID has been strict and transparent, and I will strongly disagree on both accounts. Sinovac vaccines should not have been used on the elderly at all, and there have been 17 deaths to show that the vaccine is not safe for those elderly people with chronic illnesses. It cannot be proven that the vaccine is directly responsible for these 17 people's death, but what we do know is, the vaccine will trigger an immune response in every patient who was vaccinated. Is it too far fetched to logically speculate that the vaccine-induced immune response is too much for the bodies of people with chronic illnesses to handle?
To me, what you are saying sounds a lot like a person has been stabbed in his aorta by a robber, and the doctor insists that the person died of blood loss instead of dying from the stabbing. Technically the doctor is right.
Lastly, I will say again that Hong Kong's low COVID numbers are there in spite of the gov's inaptitude, not because of its handling of the virus. The credit belongs to discipine of the general public.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but disagree with others.
It's true that Sinovac isn't recommended for 60+. It's weird that HK is promoting it for those people.
It also seems quite apparent that they are trying to "promote" that vaccine for some reason. Before abandoning it completely, they're already testing if it can be combined with other vaccines. Some have speculated that this is some way of them looking for "any way possible to justify its use" but I think this is in preparation to switch people over once they leave it behind. If you got your first shot of Sinovac, and we no longer offer it, you can get your second shot of BNT.
The way the numbers pan out - 17 deaths after Sinovac, 2 deaths after BNT definitely will lead you to the theory that one is more dangerous than the other. But keep in mind that these numbers are extremely low. A few thousand people got vaccines, a few dozen died, and more often they got one vaccine over the other. This means nothing in the grand scheme of things. They can look into it and find out if there's causation between it. If you don't trust HK to do it, other countries will. Other countries have vaccinated a fuck of a lot more people with Sinovac than HK ever will.
380,000 people in HK have gotten the Sinovac vaccine at least one dose. In Chile, 13,352,602 have received one. Indonesia 17,275,001 have gotten one.
How many deaths after vaccine in Chile? Indonesia? That should set you on a path to study, if you think there's something to this story.
It's not about "refusing to acknowledge" something. There's just nothing to acknowledge yet. Just a few people died after getting a vaccine. Well a few people died of a heart attack after taking the MTR. And a few more died of a heart attack after taking the bus. Does this mean the bus is more dangerous?
Finally, I 100% agree that early on, it was the people of Hong Kong that prevented Covid from being as big of a disaster as it could have been. The medical workers in particular started a union from scratch, and went on strike until the border to China was closed.
However since then, all the policies have been set by the government, and have been effective (some policies more than others). Closing the borders to certain countries, like right now 3 countries are completely banned from entering the country. They shut down airlines that bring people with covid into the country. We have a 3 week quarantine for most countries, which is longer than anywhere else in the world. Not many are as strict as HK when it comes to immigration.
The mandatory quarantine itself has been proven to find cases that otherwise would have been out in the public. After that gym breakout, they forced hundreds of people to quarantine, and found a bunch of positives there. Those people would have been spreading it through the community, and there would probably be another wave. Instead we're at like 0-2 local cases a day, mostly from known sources.

Flights coming in wouldn’t matter even if they actually fucking enforced a proper quarantine. You need to come here? Fine. 2 fucking weeks quarantine or you go to jail. That’s it. No “please quarantine, maybe if you can. So sorry about your rights to travel the world and infect your community”
Too many stupid fucks “BuT mA ConSTiUtIonAl RiTes!”

can absolutely blame our government for not quarantining that person. either go to this nice hotel or go to this army base field barrack. we don't care which one but you aren't leaving our sight and you sure as hell aren't going home.

speaking of ball drops, I feel like I should have closed the shop on monday on gone looking for a vaccine. I have zero confidence that I'm going to hear back from any pharmacy on the north shore. I was waitlisted within 5 minutes of the announcement.

Let me give another reason why restricting travel ("force" quarantine for CA citizens, ban for non-citizens) between India and Canada is such a no-brainer.
Surrey: Highest Indian population in BC. Responsible for highest Covid infection rate in BC. http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/data (http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/data))
Brampton: Highest Indian population in ON. Responsible for highest Covid infection rate in ON (Currently has 22% Covid positivity test rate). https://www.publichealthontario.ca/en/data-and-analysis/infectious-disease/covid-19-data-surveillance/covid-19-data-tool?tab=maps
Of course, there is a socio-economic factor that people from these cities are working in essential jobs in factories, plants etc. Combine that with the culture of multi-generations living in one household, it only takes 1 person to contract Covid to spread it to all their family members who will go on to cause an outbreak in the community. When people are travelling from India (source of variant), who are they likely to interact with once they come into BC or ON? Its like adding fuel to the fire.
can't really blame a canadian passport holder in india for looking around and thinking it's time to get the fuck out of dodge

of course - but your form of whataboutism doesn't solve the immediate problem
every canadian passport holder has the right to be repatriated. it's one of our most basic rights. it's never going to change, so why even ponder it?
the federal government has had 14 months to figure out how to prevent the incoming infected from passing it in their communities. That's the failure. The great Australia scenario we hear about incessantly would have worked here too.

We should keep in mind the amount of immigration Canada is based on. I sure as hell would be visiting my dying relative if it came to that, and there are a lot of people who’s families they need to help are all in other places in the world. They should be able to help their families if necessary. I have more of an issue with the people coming back from their vacation homes in Florida than I do anyone that would be in situation.
All of it would be moot if a quarantine was enforced.
Do what you want, go where you want, but follow the rules when you get here to keep everyone in this country safe, or you’ll be quarantining in a cell at the border.

If you’re landing in an airport from anywhere but a domestic location it should be a militarized system that basically holds your hand until you’re in the designated quarantine room. It should also have probably just stayed at that 2 week time frame snd have multiple tests over the course of that until you are discharged
But turd is obviously concerned with hurt feelings and would rather drag this out for as long as humanly possible..

The UK has banned/restricted flights from India, pretty sure there's a larger expatriated community in the UK, than that of Canada :lol
If the UK can do it, why can't we?
I think it's absurd that one can travel to a country with a massive influx of COVID cases, and simply fly back to Canada, without any restrictions. Why aren't we handling inbound flights from places with massive outbreaks differently? Why don't we have officials at the airport to physically have the person escorted to a quarantine site?
I feel like there's so much more we could be doing here. Folks who have not left the country, stayed here the entire time, are now restricted from basic travel within the province?

Just because UK did it doesn’t make it right though. In fact, they’ve handled the pandemic worse than just about any developed nation on the planet.
We are on the same page about the quarantine, but I think to completely ban flights is callous and doesn’t address the issue that any flight is a threat, from anywhere in the world, and has been for over a year now. They should all be treated as such. Honestly even domestic flights should be treated as such, but the feds are too scared of letting the airlines fold.

I totally agree with you, I would say it's unfair to ban all flights entirely, for sure. But there is easily a better method in terms of escorting and controlling the quarantine for those who are entering the country, especially from nations with high COVID incidences.
One can fly somewhere internationally, return, and our Federal government won't even bother to make sure you quarantine for any timeframe. Yet now we're supposed to fear being pulled over on the highway because we want to go for a camping trip in this beautiful weather somewhere on the island or the interior?
To put the onus on restaurants, and now even the basic mobility of BC residents is simply an insult.
It just seems to perpetuate a class divide to folks. It seems as though we have a dual system in place here.

I disagree. We needed this flight ban for all direct flights from India and Pakistan fast.
Over 300 thousand daily Covid cases in India that is likely because of this double mutant variant B 1.617.
We already have a reported 39 cases, if not much more of this variant already in B.C.
If Turd just sat on his hands and waited for a "risk assessment" from infectious disease experts about this variant, things would be much worse.

The UK, HK, NZ banned Indian flights dunno who else, HK banned em for ab a month now, and the UK/NZ about a week I believe
I think the ban on Pakistan is just to appease India, as Pakistan doesn't have an issue like India is facing, not only that we're only getting 1 flight a week from Pakistan, and the government isn't quoting any numbers for the amount of covid from Pakistan flights
Health Minister Patty Hajdu says half of the people who are testing positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Canada on an airplane came from India, even though Indian flights accounted for only one-fifth of air traffic.
She says passengers coming from Pakistan are also testing positive at higher rates than average.
Alghabra says there are no flights coming in from Brazil at the moment but Canada won’t hesitate to ban further commercial flights if the data supports it.
At least 32 flights from Delhi and two from Pakistan have landed in Canada in the last two weeks carrying dozens of passengers who later tested positive for COVID-19.
Edit: the UK has also banned flights from Pakistan, Kenya, the Philippines, and Bangladesh due to growing covid cases

-pretty recent flight bans that New Zealand and Hong Kong imposed on India and Pakistan.
New Zealand: -from April 11th until April 28th
Hong Kong: starting April 20th.
UK: travellers from Indian and Pakistan flights are put on a "red list" as of 4am UK time, April 23rd, which means British or Irish passport holders, or people with UK residence rights, will be allowed in but must quarantine in a government-approved hotel for 10 days. If passengers don't have that status, they are banned from entering the UK.

Jesus christ you can't make anyone happy here on this thread. You don't ban flights and people flip out. You ban flights and people still flip out.
If you fly to a Canada via a third country from India you have to get a 2nd PCR test before you're allowed to fly out from there. Places like Europe and China - you know places that are super strict actually have flights to/from India (if they don't ban them already) will make it exceedingly difficult for people to get to Canada.

Now I see she flew to Bellingham, spent 2 days in Washington to “quarantine”, walked across the border and caught a cab home. All to avoid the “government hotels.” Seems like a huge pain in the ass to save a couple hundred bucks. Most people are in and out of those hotels in 2 days after they get their test.

Wanted to share this article because it has some good perspective:
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in British Columbia is weighing heavily on healthcare workers, with hospitalizations at a record high and surgeries postponed in an effort to ease the pressure.
On Monday, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Dr. Bonnie Henry said procedures are being paused because the hospital system is stressed — and the people who keep it running are exhausted.
Dr. Navdeep Grewal sees patients at Delta Hospital and Mount Saint Joseph Hospital and has been working on the frontlines throughout the pandemic.
She says the stress has been cumulative, compounding as they care for patients day-in day out during a pandemic
“We’re fatigued. We’re just tired of constantly going to work, having to wear a mask and PPE all day at work, not being able to socialize, not being able to sit together while having our lunch,” she explains.
“It’s just been a lot of shared fatigue experiences, trauma experiences. We’re seeing patients that come in quite sick, having to deal with wondering when are they going to get sicker and have to be admitted to ICU. All of that kind of stuff gathers over time. You just keep working, just going in every day, every week, every month, not knowing when you’ll have a break or when you’ll be able to finally say, ‘Okay it’s time to take a holiday now,’ or actually have the ability to take that time off and not feel stressed because you know that your coworkers are still in the midst of all of this.”
RELATED: Abbotsford nurse takes to Instagram with tearful plea after death of COVID patient
And each day brings a flood of new information — about vaccines, about transmission, about variants.
“It’s like taking a continuing medical education course several times a day, every single day. The information just comes down to so quickly and it changes so fast,” she says.
Grewal also does volunteer outreach to help people overcome vaccine hesitancy, so it’s not just her patients who rely on her to allay their worries.
“I feel like I need to be on top of my game so that I can convince patients and friends and family that vaccines are safe, and there’s nothing to worry about. It’s just constantly upgrading my own medical education so I can be the expert for my friends and family,” she says.
She says at this stage of the pandemic what worries her most is that the spread of the virus could outpace immunization.
“The hardest part for me is knowing that we’re so close to the end. And yet, we still have a way to go. Our vaccination rollout is still in progress, we still have only about 30 per cent of the population eligible even to get vaccinated,” she explains.
“We’re still not anywhere close to where we need to be. My worry is that with COVID-fatigue that has developed — especially in this third wave — that we just may end up getting so many more cases of variants and not really winning this race.”
Grewal isn’t hopeless or pessimistic.
“We can still move forward and get through this, if we just continue to do our art — wearing masks, physical distancing, and making sure that we all get the vaccine when it’s our turn.”
She does urge people to consider the ripple-effect their decision to bend the rules can have.
“There is a small segment of the population that is questioning, that is wondering whether there’s some rules that they can break and still feel safe, and that’s fine,” she explains.
“But if everybody starts to feel the same way, and everybody then starts to become an exception to the rule then that’s when we start to have transmission of variants and the transmission of cases within social gatherings and it just gets worse and worse over time. That’s what led to the third wave.”
https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/04/22/bc-doctor-covid-exhaustion/
It's starting to annoy me how people who are eligible for vaccination aren't getting registered. It's not that they're conspiracy theorists, they're pretty normal people. It's just that for 1 reason or another, they can't be bothered to make it a priority. If the buck stopped at them in terms of their decision and the outcome, I wouldn't care, most people wouldn't care even. But their decision doesn't stop at them. I know we should learn to accept the things that we cannot control, and instead focus on the things we can control, and it's not kosher to shame people for their decisions, but it's getting pretty tough to keep my mouth closed when I see such flawed judgment.
The Dr in the article is literally the textbook definition of being altruistic. She suffers and endures for the betterment of strangers, for her friends, and family. I'm not religious but I think in some certain circles she'd be considered a saint.

International travellers are allowed to enter canada as long as they quarantine in hotel........... Last week more than 200 travellers were fined for not quarantining after they have arrived which probably means only 200 were caught and the thousands probably fell through the cracks or got off scott free knowing how lax the Canadian Justice system is. Thats why theres a huge uproar among BC residents on International flights, Residents are not allowed to leave their health authority while foreigners are allowed to roam free throughout the province.

So the globe and mail is running a story right now regarding Theresa Tam saying “some restrictions could be lifted by summer if 75% of Canadians are vaccinated and 20% of those people have the second dose”
She then also says “you never know, you open up things and see what happens”
Oh, that’s the approach, that’s good to know. Not like there are dozens of countries well ahead of us that you could gather all the data you need to see what happens when restrictions are loosened..
All this pandemic has shown me is if the big earthquake ever hits BC then we're all fucked because the government won't know what the fuck to do.

The pandemic turned out to be not nearly as bad as they had originally thought when it started and the govt. still dropped the ball.

Fuck what the government will do in an earthquake, people here get into fights over free salt when it's snowing out and hoard necessities at the first glimmer of bad news. I'm not big on guns but the thought of an earthquake makes me want to get a few.

Just got the notification I can book to get an AZ shot tomorrow. Problem is, I have 5 days of self-isolation to go after my daughter’s friend and classmate tested positive. Several of her other classmates have been tested and are all negative but we haven’t displayed any symptoms so haven’t bothered with a test, per instruction from 811.
Going to call the pharmacy tomorrow when they open and see what they have to say.. sure would suck to miss this opportunity and pick it up somewhere down the line.
No shot for me today. Re-registered and hope to get another chance when I’m able to roam free.

It's gonna be a very scary situation if and when the big one, a big earthquakes, hits BC.
What this pandemic, and natural disasters has reminded me is that when shit hits the fan, we see the best and worst of humanity. Most of the time, it's the worst behaviour. -not just focussing on our government.
Nurses, doctors, front line medical workers putting their lives at risk, working in hospitals where Covid patient cases are rising fast. Working to the point of mental and physical exhaustion.
People that paid their sacrifices day in and day out in their jobs as front line medical workers.
Then you have the motherfucking idiots like people throwing parties in their penthouse like Mo at Telus Gardens with no regard for people's safety or provincial health orders.
People beating up front line workers at supermarkets or yelling at these employees because they refuse to wear masks. People that keep saying "oh, my rights are violated" blah blah blah.
Blatant racism at the east Asian community in the Lower Mainland. I have seen racist graffiti that a racist fuck spray painted on the windows of the Chinese Cultural Centre.
A Lower Mainland resident who reported in the news recently that a Karen told her "You know this Covid is because of you...you need to go back to China"" simply because that person Gina Chong did not want to take a picture for that lady at a Port Moody Park. ""Sorry, we can't due to Covid".
https://www.tricitynews.com/amp/local-news/port-moody-woman-speaks-out-after-getting-racially-attacked-in-coquitlam-park-3642249
Racist attacks on Chinese seniors like this assault that happened last year just three blocks from my house! I'm glad that the cops arrested the mother fucker. Assaulting a 92 year old Chinese man.
Wow, what a tough guy! Jamie Bezanson

I do not have a lot of faith in humanity when it comes to how we treat each other in times of crisis. There are always gonna be some good people who take the time to care for others in times of crisis.
However, I think that evil and selfish behaviour of people would overcome the people's good side if BC experienced a big earthquake.
Heck, I can imagine people hauling big screen TVs and other electronics out of stores during looting when an earthquake hits BC. LUL
The magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit San Fran in 1989 lasted for 15 seconds. -still remember TV news footage of widespread looting and violence in San Francisco. People stealing stuff and looting stores. Crime sprees everywhere.
If an increase in violent crime and widespread looting can happen in San Francisco after an magnitude 6.9 earthquake, that can definitely happen in B.C.
That is how us humans operate.

The three regional zones are:
The Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley (Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health areas).
Vancouver Island (Island Health).
Northern and Interior regions (Northern health and Interior Health)
...
"If you really have to ask 'should I go out to Chilliwack' the answer is no you shouldn't if you live in Vancouver," he said. "If you live on the North Shore, that's your local area. Stay in that area."
someone should let Farnsworth know Chilliwack is part of the valley
it's like Henry saying outdoor gathering of 10 is allowed, but discouraged :derp:

FYI to people looking for AstraZeneca. Shoppers across Metrotown where the Best buy used to be is doing walk in's. No idea if all shopper's are doing it. So if you are in area and want the vaccine, go get it.

So BC announced "new" travelling restrictions?
But in typical Canada fashion, it was followed up with a string of exceptions.
DO NOT TRAVEL, we will catch you and punish you to the fullest extent of the law! ($575 slap on the wrist) ... BUT it's ok if:
· Returning to your principal residence, moving or helping someone move
· Work, both paid and unpaid (volunteer)
· Commercial transportation of goods
· Getting health care or social services or helping someone get those services
· Court appearance, complying with a court order or parole check-in
· Exercising parental responsibilities
· Child care services
· Attending classes at a post-secondary institution or school
· Responding to a critical incident, like search and rescue operations
· Providing care to a person because of a psychological, behavioural or health condition, or a physical, cognitive or mental impairment
· Visiting a resident (as an essential visitor) at long-term care or assisted living facility
· Attending a funeral
· Travelling under a PHO variance. For example, BCHL
So basically you can never get caught unless you are a moron.

I don’t plan on travelling outside of the health authority but I have a letter from work from both the provincial/federal levels “essential ” designation, I have my ID in my wallet, and tossed a branded shirt in my trunk, with those exceptions though that seems like overkill in avoiding a fine lol

realistically though, joe bringing his camper trailer to the sticks isn't much risk to the general public
another rule backed by a poor track record that won't even really get enforced LUL

good looking out - somebody go get this!
still waiting for an email text or callback from about a dozen pharmacies in north van. starting to think there were never many doses here and that they are in hotter spots
edit: why tell us we're effectively out of AZ vaccines if you can still walk in and get it? fucking gov just continues to botch this
edit 2: just called every pharmacy in north van again, still no doses.
