If I'm in a room where someone farted or has BO, I can pull my shirt up over my nose and it helps. Might not eliminate 100% of the odor, but everything helps

Funny the other day I was playing poker for the first time since pre-covid and no one at the tables are wearing masks. This one guy says "it's been 3 years, why you still wearing a mask?" It was pretty funny because those are probably the same people that thought masks weren't necessary when it was rampantly spreading.
I still remember the one year when we had almost 0 influenza cases during covid...

Updated study from precovid to now include covid data
https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD006207.pub6/full
Authors' conclusions
The high risk of bias in the trials, variation in outcome measurement, and relatively low adherence with the interventions during the studies hampers drawing firm conclusions. There were additional RCTs during the pandemic related to physical interventions but a relative paucity given the importance of the question of masking and its relative effectiveness and the concomitant measures of mask adherence which would be highly relevant to the measurement of effectiveness, especially in the elderly and in young children.
There is uncertainty about the effects of face masks. The low to moderate certainty of evidence means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited, and that the true effect may be different from the observed estimate of the effect. The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection. Hand hygiene is likely to modestly reduce the burden of respiratory illness, and although this effect was also present when ILI and laboratory‐confirmed influenza were analysed separately, it was not found to be a significant difference for the latter two outcomes. Harms associated with physical interventions were under‐investigated.
There is a need for large, well‐designed RCTs addressing the effectiveness of many of these interventions in multiple settings and populations, as well as the impact of adherence on effectiveness, especially in those most at risk of ARIs.
And then you can follow up with this

I've probably played poker live 50 times since Covid, most don't wear masks some do, I personally am never wearing a mask unless I have to. I would never say that to you though, if you want to wear a mask do it. I'd say maybe one in thirty at the poker tables in Langley do, probably more Downtown or Richmond, in Vegas I'm guessing one in 200 last year. I'll be in Vegas for WSOP in June, not sure how many masks I'll see but to your point I did get Covid last year at WSOP. :)
Yeah, people who bring it up are dicks.
It's everybody's choice.
"Buddy, I'll take off my mask when I lick your wife's pussy...........which one is your wife, again?" Oh........... never mind (as you make that face).
One skanky woman at the casino comments, "What's with the gloves?" I do the, "pull the gloves on," motion and say, "Wouldn't you like to know........" Yeah, she shuts up and walks away. Not all asians are passive, bitch.
BTW, I have gloves on because dudes at the casino never wash their hands after they touch their sausage in the washrooms. Those buttons on the slots are filthy as fuck.

So you wear gloves in the casino.. so you can touch all the “dirty” shit and then touch your wallet, phone, etc.
Great logic.. there is a reason why they came out saying wearing gloves for everything is the most ineffective form of prevention. Imo if you’re that worried about germs, I don’t know what you’re even doing in a casino.
Ignorance is bliss

Dude I use the hand sanitizers and only use one hand when playing. You're the ignorant one here, my friend.............
sanitize hands, then put on gloves. Put loyalty card in and money. My limit for the day. Wallet is put away. Keeps me from losing my shirt. Know your limit and play within it. After I'm done, I cash out and use sanitizer. The gloves are disposable and I keep three pairs in my back pocket at all times. I also have dry cracked hands. Open cuts and whatnot. The gloves help with the healing.
anyway..................... don't know why I have to justify anything to a guy like you (buddy guy of the worst kind).

I'm worried about germs but it doesn't mean I have to live in a bubble. I have nothing against others not wearing a mask but it was more of this one person egging me on about why I'm still wearing one. I work in healthcare and have seen the worst of the worst, so I am probably a bit more sensitive when it comes to protecting myself and my loved ones.
Funny enough, I stacked him for a $800 pot when I was first to act and bet pot size for my nut flush for him to reraise me all in. Snap called him. GG

AzNightmare

NGL, I've sort of grown to enjoy wearing masks because I like feeling anonymous when I'm out in public.
I also have a bottle of hand sanitizer in my car. Just a good habit to have sanitizer conveniently assessible so that I can use it first thing every time I get back into my car.
And always wash my hands with soap and water first thing every time I come back home.
Dumbest thing I've seen so far is a Costco worker taking a piss, then going to the basin to wash his hands. He pretends to wash his hands. Activates the auto faucet and doesn't even get his hands wet.............. goes and pulls a paper towel. I was going to say something, but didn't. Place was pretty crowded, at the time. Absolutely. There are also a lot of great conservatives too. But certain behaviors are more inclined by certain beliefs.
Things can go extremely wrong when people don't have personal pride and ownership over their space. Look at SROs, when things are that communal full of people who have little consideration for themselves, let alone the spaces they share with others.

It's hella annoying trying to take a piss with a dude beside you when there isn't one, especially those trough style ones, taking a piss at a Canucks game with a bunch of people waiting behind you = no piss comes out.

I prefer to use the toilets in the stall over urinals, that way I can drop my pants lower, fully air out my balls, and pee in complete privacy. I don't stand 3' away, but maybe 1'-2'. Then I do the Michael Jackson lean as the stream gets weaker.

This and the 9/11 thread are the two Revscene threads that will live forever in my mind. I still remember when I woke up, did my usual check email and forums, and saw a thread titled "omg they hit the pentagon too!" and was like... wtffffffff?
This thread was similar, where you knew life wouldn't be the same from the time the first post was made by Mr HappySlip

Maybe we should commemorate the end by locking this thread and hopefully we can all move forward with our lives.
While WHO has declared the COVID pandemic to be over, it is important to remember that the disease is simply being downgraded from "pandemic" to "endemic" level.
Was talking to a friend over the weekend that he knew an older person who has just recovered from COVID, but is continuing to suffer from brain fog, and can't function too well with his normal daily life and activities.
Let's hope the virus will continue to get weaker.

My god did we ever have many a bloody debate of the same crap in circular arguments :lol
Looking back many of us were very hyperbolic, while some downplayed things to a massive degree.
It's hard to articulate how much our mindsets have changed going back to 2020 to today, that part is truly fascinating. So many wrong predictions, wrong expectations.
Here we are totally back to normal, the things humans yearn for have remained static, things we thought would die and go away haven't, and yet from a fiscal and cultural perspective, much has changed.

Came across this interesting piece of news being reported in DW News -- the Germany state-owned international broadcaster recently:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOxppT3gPpE
Obivously I am not anti-vax, but I still feel like this will give anti-vaxxers a field day, with a lot of "I-told-you-so" sort of thing. Still, I'd say that when you look at the scientific evidence, the COVID vaccines have been extremely safe and effective.
But of course the antivaxxers will distort news like this to suit their narrative, and many of those non-thinking idiots will just lap it all up.

When you watch those prescription medicine commercials - they list a million different life altering symptoms you could potentially get. Which means those occurred to someone in the trials. Doesn't matter if it is a vaccine or medicine, some people will always get side effects.

Covid made its way around the wife's daycare last week. Kid brought it in (they think) and passed it onto 2 adults. No other kids got sick, although they could have had it in their system. It's definitely still around, although it does appear to be scaled down quite a bit in terms of severity/length as well as potential serious symptoms.

Almost everyone is vaccinated now so the effects are small. Try hitting some one with no vaccines, they'll have the time of their life.
Covid is still a massive problem in China but it's all swept under the rug. Wife's cousin's mom passed away from covid late last year. One of my mom's friend's mom (the friend is younger than my mom) is on death watch right now and mom's friend just flew back to China to see her. Yes they are all older, but it's still killing a lot of people, especially the old, weak, or unprotected.

[New pneumonia outbreak in China]
[WHO requests information]
A variety of respiratory diseases have recently broken out in northern China. In particular, the number of children infected with "mycoplasma pneumonia" has increased sharply, leaving doctors everywhere overwhelmed. The World Health Organization asked China to provide more information, while U.S. Ambassador to Japan Emmanuelle criticized Beijing to stop deceiving and deliberately delaying.
According to comprehensive Chinese media reports, hospitals in China have recently been overwhelmed with children suffering from mysterious pneumonia. Children's hospitals in many major cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Jilin, Liaoning and other places, are overcrowded. There are rumors on Weibo that the registration queue has reached more than 3,000 people, and the hospital has announced that the waiting time for treatment exceeds 24 hours. In early November, Beijing Children's Hospital was seeing 3,500 to 3,600 respiratory infection cases every day. In mid-November, Tianjin Children's Hospital's single-day treatment volume exceeded 12,000.
The "Program for Surveillance of Emerging Diseases" (ProMED), which monitors global disease outbreaks, issued warnings for two consecutive days last week, saying that an "unknown respiratory disease" (pneumonia) broke out among children in China. Preliminarily, this "unknown pneumonia" is related to What is officially called mycoplasma pneumonia is different.
The WHO issued a statement last Wednesday (22nd) that it had asked China to provide more information; a day later it issued a statement saying that China explained that it had not detected any "abnormal or new pathogens" and that the ones currently spreading in the north were caused by a variety of Illnesses caused by known pathogens also indicate that China has seen a surge in some flu-like illnesses as authorities have lifted COVID-19 prevention measures.
U.S. Ambassador to Japan Emanuelle Emmanuel posted on the social platform "The recent pneumonia outbreak in China raises serious questions, and WHO is asking about the situation. It is time to abandon the deception and delays of Wuhan pneumonia, because transparency and timely information can save lives."

The IG post from Radio Free Asia is originally posted in Chinese, but I have included a Google Translate-ed version of it in spoiler tags, and it is doing a pretty good job of converting it into some sensibly readable English. Looks like something is coming around again. The same symptoms and very contagious but no one in my circle has tested positive for it. On Wednesday, my boss came into the office hacking, I thought it was smokers cough but the next day I was feeling VERY tired. Like falling asleep grocery shopping. I attributed it to the 11 hr shift I worked the day before and the 8 hrs straight on that day. But then on Friday I was so tired I couldn't get out of bed and had an itchy throat. By the evening (and Saturday), my coworker got sick too and we both had chills, fever, body ache, headache, loss of taste/smell, but didn't test positive. I woke up this morning with a headache and a BURNING throat.
Anecdotally, our warehouse guy called in sick on Wednesday and Thursday but he was feeling well enough to come into work on Friday. Two of my boss' friends caught something similar, but he thinks he got it on his flight back from SF.

Long COVID for me. I got COVID almost 2 months ago (shortly before the new vaccine was released :(). It lasted about 2.5 weeks, but I still had symptoms. I would either be feverish or have bad chills. The chills stopped happening about 2 weeks ago, but I still get a ~100F fever almost every night. Often, I wake up drenched in sweat. However, I've discovered that taking ~60mg in THC gummies, 90 min before bed, helps to prevent that.

Yeah that's annoying, if you're going to sneeze it's so easy to pull your shirt over your mouth and nose or sneeze into your sleeve.
Sign O’ the times. Most people don’t give a shit about anyone else anymore. It all started when they stopped teaching the golden rule. It’s a fuck or be fucked, world. Gone are the days you thought about your fellow man (woman or LGBBQ+). They also stopped teaching other important stuff, like grammar, handwriting, and spelling. Why? Because the teachers of today can’t if they wanted to. I know friends who were, at one point, upstanding citizens, but have basically given up. Role models? Nope. I feel like people abided by the guidelines while things were still scary but once that fear subsided they pulled a hard 180 degrees and went straight back to the disgusting habits they had all along. People just suck. Hard fact of life to face but it's an objective reality for large majority of people out there.

RSV is up there in nastiness, you don't hear about it because most people who don't have kids just treat it as a bad flu and brave through it. People with kids know because a not insignificant percentage of kids end up at emergency, especially if you have asthma like mine does. ER visits are the norm.
Revscene virus............. nasty shit. Had it since 2002. Fucked up for life.

All my symptoms are gone now but still have a bad lingering cough - like cough up my lungs with phlegm typa bs. Doc says it's just the common cold - influenza with a lingering cough.

I honestly don't think cpvid is the cause of the 130% capacity, hospitals were already running at max capacity before covid. Now we have had mass immigration with millions of people coming into Canada the past three plus years and a number of hospital staff losing their job because they didn't want to get vaccinated so of course its going to be running at 130% capacity. We did it to our selves and of course covid isn't helping either but there are a number factors causing this and blaming covid is complete bs in my eyes.

you're drawing a lot of conclusions based on your own opinion of the situation here. I'm not saying this is entirely because of covid. Just as it has been with the last couple of years, it's the combination of flu, covid and rsv that's causing a lot of people to get sick during our cold season. also, capacity refers to the number of beds that are occupied, it has nothing to do with number of staff.

It also seems like walk in clinics are no longer a thing since covid as well, dr's want to only do phone appointments and even getting that is next to impossible. For me that's frustrating since I haven't had a Dr in years and I want to see someone face to face not to talk to them over facetime. I think thats also a big part of the ER being busier then before.

Just had a Xmas party and saw one of my wife’s cousins who is an ER nurse at Surrey memorial and has been for 8-10 years. Loves her job, wouldn’t want to be anywhere but ER
She said shit is so bad you can never keep up, you never gain an inch in triage and the worst problem is when you deal with a brown person coming into ER, it’s a regular occurrence to have to deal with 10+ family members as well.
At Surrey memorial you’re also dealing with an insane amount of OD’s which many are just heart breaking and also taking up huge amounts of beds.
Put them in portables the province says! Lol ffs..
She got into nursing later in life and is now 45 or so and is a very compassionate person who actually wants to make a difference, however she said the ER has a huge problem with retaining people as younger nurses come in and fucking hate it/burn out and either leave nursing completely or move out of the ER. She said it’s a daily occurrence to show up to work and not know anyone working because they are so desperate to fill spots they just cycle people in from wherever, even paying premiums to get them there just because staffing is such an issue

Yes. My GF works at VGH and my 80 year old mother has been in and out of the hospital over the last few years at Burnaby Hospital.
Can confirm, the ER waiting room regularly, and along with her various wards were primarily old brown people, and a mix of various Asian flavors.
It's actually quite funny the nurses seem to complain a lot about their older brown patients, specifically women, they tend to complain a lot and be quite demanding, they also seem to have a low pain tolerance (creating those demands), writ large.

The big problem is the aunties/uncles/grandparents who came over with their families, because like I said, many carry morbidities that haven't been addressed or treated back home. Their first point of medical contact tends to be the hospital, and lacking proper medical records or prior diagnosis and treatment is what compounds the system so greatly.
It's the need for testing, scans, you're essentially trying to figure out a problem that has manifested for many years, but never actually treated or even diagnosed prior (as would've been expected).

That's why I rather firmly believe the best solution going forward is to grow the primary care physicians first, and/or expand nurse practitioners services. It is always the cheapest to treat the treatable conditions at the primary care level first, and primary care providers are also in a much better position to monitor long term health conditions than any sort of emergency / acute care providers. That is not to say acute care is not important / less important, but you get the biggest bang for the buck when you spend it on primary care, so that should really be the priority to receive funding.

They are trying to expand urgent care to help with some of these people that are going to emergency with a sore throat or runny nose, something I've never used myself but seems like a good solution if they can get enough of them. They are open seven day's a week, not quite hospital emergency hours but open late.
I know we've built two in the last year one in Chilliwack and one in Vancouver and are currently working on a third in Mission right now and there are others either under construction or close to being started as well. For reference the one in Mission has around 10 exam rooms and 5 assessment/Observation rooms so they are bigger than a typical Doctors office for sure.
They probably need to do a better job educating people that these places even exist.

I was going to bring that up actually. Yes, more and more Urgent Primary Care Centres are being opened up. It does help alleviate some of the congestion we see in hospital from non-emergency visits. Also of note, if the doctors at UPCC feel it's required, they will redirect you to Emergency as needed.
For awhile, we had a sandwich board outside to educate patients on where they should be going for their current condition/issues. It'll take time but more people are becoming aware of the existence of UPCCs.
The lack of new family doctors is partly to blame for the current climate of our healthcare system. For quite some time now, new doctors have found it's more lucrative to visit multiple walk-in clinics rather than upkeep their own practice. The rest of the doctors end up working in hospital. People without a family doctor are of course more likely to visit emergency as they really have no other option outside of walk-in clinic hours. Hence, UPCCs have been created just recently.

We go to UPCC regularly, but they are typically swamped. Never mind the fact that they don't have enough people working, some of the centers don't even have enough space to handle the throughput of ppl.
The best way to get some care at UPCC is to go right when they open, otherwise it's a good chance it'll be a 3-4 hour wait.

My GF went to the urgent primary care in Richmond by Superstore, she doesn't have a family doctor yet and walk-in clinics aren't walk-in anymore... if you don't get there by 3pm they turn you away because you won't make it in before they close and in total she was there for 6 fucking hours. SIX!!!
Believe me, at least in Richmond, everyone knows about it!!!
I was leaving work on my lunchbreak to go bring her food and water while she waited. It was mental. The problem here is they refuse you for knee replacement until you're a certain age, because the replacements wear out and they'd presumably have to "do it again" before you die... and they don't want to... so they basically tell you to fuck off and live in pain until you're like 50 and then they'll consider doing it. That's been the experience of several of my coworkers. Same with hip too.

Fast forward less than a year and everyone now goes for the simple cough/cold stuff now, and my wife ended up waiting almost 5 hours to get looked at for a pretty serious sinus infection. If I have to wait 4-7 hours to be seen I’m probably more likely to just try and tough it out at home tbh

Alberta's hospitals are dealing with a massive uptick in respiratory illnesses, and there's worry in the healthcare system that low vaccination uptake, government messaging and busy holiday get-togethers will make things much worse.
https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/alta-premier-doubles-down-on-vaccine-advice-as-respiratory-illness-increases-1.6697901
TL;DR
- 44 died from the flu (so far)
- hospitals overflowing with sick people with all respiratory viruses, with flu being the worst
- province's lowest influenza vaccination rate in more than a decade
- < 23% have taken their flu shots
- 15.5% received COVID vaccine
- Danielle Smith refuses to tell Albertans to get immunized
Call me vengeful and vindicative, but I am (almost) laughing at what's happening in Alberta.

For the COVID vaccine, you're correct -- Alberta's take rate is roughly on par with the rest of Canada.
But for the flu vaccine, the national take rate is typically over 30%, so Alberta is definitely coming up short regardless of whether it is by the national or their own provincial standard.
On a personal level, I know a lot of people have stopped caring, and on that level alone, not caring anymore is OK. But when the "stopped caring" happens on a much broader scale, high hospitalization numbers is what you get, and then it becomes a public health issue affecting more than just those who did not take up the vaccines.
At least BC has a higher uptake rate...

Unvaxxed baby, woo! My whole family didn't take it.
When we had COVID, it was a mild 3-4 day cold. I tested positive with the spit tests 3 times. My symptoms were only fatigue and super sore buttcheeks, feet, and back. I didn't even have a cough! I think my lungs had a thick layer of THC-infused tar that prevented COVID from doing jack shit. My 5 year old daughter barfed in the sink, slept for 16 hours a day for 2 days, and was 100% by day 3. My baby momma was recovered at the end of day 3. I was still shitty on day 4, but that was because I was smokin' joints in the bathroom so my kid didn't find out and drinkin' whiskey. Was fine day 5.
Now it has been nearly 4 years since we had it... 0 re-infections. This is with 0 precautions, a kid in school, and no vaccines. My kid had a few YouTube sick days where she wakes up and is sick until like 11 AM and is fine watching YouTube videos and having a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup.

Haha, I made that IG to promote my 2nd book, it was banned sooooooooo fast.
I was just permanently banned on Facebook for posting a video I made that got me banned off X during the B.C. election. Artists like myself are completely shunned by society because we highlight things that are politically incorrect. Most Canadians have no idea how restricted our speech actually is these days. Make sure to watch the video with sound on, and at the end there is the most crazy fucking thing captured on camera. Make sure you're not eating when you watch this video. EleGiggle
For the record, I didn't record the video, I just edited it together with clips, with permission, and chose the song. I had 100's of thousands of views before my account was banned and I lost nearly 1000 followers, again, because people like myself are not allowed a voice.
It is what it is!

I like how being banned from gyms and bars is to blame for becoming an alcoholic lol

In the first 4 weeks of COVID lockdowns, 2 people out of 100 in the company I worked for overdosed / killed themselves because they had nothing else to do.
When you take away people's routines, some people react in bad ways.
At least 90 year olds were able to live for another 1 year of shitting into diapers... my God, imagine if they had died from COVID instead of shutting everything down! (median age of death from COVID according to the BC dashboard was 83, average life expectancy was 82.)
So much better to give 17 year olld boys heart inflammation that to have 90 year olds die. :woot2::woot2::woot2:

So how do you explain all the literally billions of people who did get vaccinated who aren't dead?

Also, don't forget, the world's billionaires saw their wealth exponentially grow. Someone should post the net worth of the world's richest 100 people pre-COVID and post-COVID, it would open so many eyes.

I legit have PTSD from the COVID era and, seriously, have flashbacks and anxiety sometimes when I remember going from 9-5 family man that I had worked so hard to get to after working in adult for so long, to being jobless, banned everywhere, unable to work out to lower stress, in-laws hating me originally when they believed in the vaccine. (early during the release) I was unable to go to the pub and have friendly chats and be my gregarious self, unable to even be myself at all anymore. All of the things I did with a smile on my face were gone. This was even more difficult time than when my mother killed herself, because that was a personal struggle and I could use my spiritual faith and other things to cope, but with COVID, what could I even tap into to keep myself going? Hard alcohol.
Now in 2025 my personality is finally recovering and I can be my friendly, outgoing self, mostly, again. Still have mega lingering rage issues and serious alcoholism that I'm recovering from, but things are getting better.
Give it enough time and the COVID "vaccine" will be seen as a massive crime against humanity, eventually... just enough times needs to pass for all the information to leak out.
Remember... sooooooooooooo many rich people's wealth fucking SKYROCKETED during this time, let alone people in government who had knowledge of where to invest... there were so, so, SO many reasons for the system to want to exaggerate COVID as much as possible to ram through their agenda... and they did! :okay:
I mean, does anyone ever notice that our BILLION+ dollar CBC has never done any shows or documentaries following up with COVID and the "vaccine" and interviewed doctors and medical professionals to see what they think in 2025 as opposed to in 2020-2021?
They don't talk about it because there is a massive, coordinated coverup to make sure nobody ever comes up with a way of telling all of the hidden stories of people's lives taken and wrecked by the "vaccine", they'll never let the general public know the scope of the deception and injuries. VAERs is the tip of the iceberg.

Well either way.. you seem to be doing much better now. Your posts at least are a bit less.. er ... nuts. (I hope and I'm) glad to see that you're in a much better mental state than a couple months ago.

You need to let go man, just let it go...the vaccine isn't hiding under your mattress waiting to stab you in the nuts. Everyone else has forgotten about it, it's high time you do too in order for you to truly "move on"

There's no such thing as "the vaccine" either. There's like 5 completely different ones. Even when they first came out there was 2-3 different technologies.

Maybe you are judging them too harshly without actually sitting down and hearing their side of the story.
