Not to discredit Thomas because some of the saves he makes are simply incredible.

He won the Vezina, what happened the year after? Lost his starting job to his rookie backup. He can only thank his team's weak play in front of Tuuka Rask early on this season, while playing well when he was in net, for giving him the chance to earn his starting job back, allowing him to turn in the numbers that he did. Tuuka Rask turned in some good starts early on, but the team just couldn't earn him a win.

Similar thing happened in Pittsburgh when Fleury and the Pens couldn't win a game early on this season, except the Pens don't have a formidable second goalie and Fleury was forced to ride his and his teams suck out.

Yes I'm bitter that I had Thomas in my hockey pool last season, and Rask in my pool this season. lol

I really like our chances against Boston. All of our players except Danny, Hank and Cody have good speed and hopefully that should give them some trouble. Chara is a Norris calibre defenseman but our depth on D just looks so much better. Luongo's also been pretty good this post season minus those 2 no shows against the Hawks but the whole team was nowhere to be found anyways. With that being said, we shouldn't underestimate Boston. They're in the final dance with us and it didn't happen by fluke. I think the key to beating Thomas is getting him out of position, have strong net presence and pot in well placed shots. I'm not a fan of his unorthodox play, it is exciting to watch but I think it's too risky. But he did get them into the SCF so props to him. Just as long the games are officiated properly and not too biased that it's looking like its rigged, I'm really optimistic that 2 weeks we'll experience the atmosphere when Sid scored that OT goal but even better.

It's not just star players like Bryzgalov, even 3rd line players like Belanger came out to the media and said he and other players he's talked would not want to play in Winnipeg when it was speculated that the Coyotes would move to Winnipeg. From chatting with a few guys I know that play in the NHL, none of them have any interest in living or playing in Winnipeg, one of them currently plays for the Thrashers. The majority of players will obviously publicly say the opposite but truth is, no one looks forward to playing in Winnipeg.

The harsh winters is a factor but from the sense I got, it has more to do with Winnipeg being a boring place in the middle of nowhere. Sure Winnipeg has parks and nightclubs, but you can't compare the entertainment options for a young millionaire in Winnipeg to Atlanta or any other major US city. Sure these guys will be treated like rockstars in Winnipeg, but that gets really old fast. I've worked with people in the public eye a bit and they all to a person miss being able to go about their daily lives with privacy.

With that being said, I am happy for the people of Winnipeg and the best of luck of making it work long term this time around.

I just spoke to a buddy who works as a sales rep for one of the NHL corporate sponsors, he just got his tickets today for himself and for his clients, 8 seats per game for games 2 and 5. So it sounds like they still dealing with the corporate partners today before any public announcement is made.

Predictions are a funny thing, and getting them right from the start of the postseason is tricky enough. EA SPORTS has managed to do a pretty decent job with its EA SPORTS NHL '11 Simulation Engine, correctly predicting all but one of the 14 postseason series so far in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

But with the Final comes added pressure. EA SPORTS' reputation doesn't simply have two months of prognostications at stake when Boston and Vancouver drop the puck Wednesday night for the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

There's a whole season of work on the line.

That's because EA SPORTS' simulations didn't just pick Vancouver and Boston to meet for this season's championship in April, this matchup was pegged way back in October. In an impressive Nostradamus act, EA SPORTS' preseason simulation accurately tabbed Vancouver to win the Presidents' Trophy before facing off with Boston for a chance to lift the Stanley Cup. In those initial predictions, the Canucks pulled through and won their first-ever Stanley Cup championship in a taut seven-game Final.

This time around, with a chance to take a mulligan, EA isn't wavering.

According to its latest predictions, the EA SPORTS NHL '11 Simulation Engine is sticking with the Canucks over Boston in what it expects to be a tight series that goes the distance. And that Presidents' Trophy? It factored in handily as the home team won each game, with one of the more thrilling moments an overtime win by the Bruins in Game 6 at TD Garden to force a decisive seventh game.

In the end, that momentum won't be enough for the B's however, as EA SPORTS has the Canucks holding on in front of the Rogers Arena crowd with a 3-1 win in Game 7. Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo is picked to take home the Conn Smythe Trophy.

If Vancouver winds up bringing the Cup back to Canada for the first time in 18 years, the people at EA SPORTS may want to begin investing in lottery tickets, but duplicating a 14-for-15 record would be an awfully tall order for 2012. For gamers who can't wait to see what kind of changes EA might make for next year's version of the game, which will be released in stores on Sept. 13, NHL '12 is already available for pre-order on XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 at the EA Store.

SCF patches are available at Roger's Arena team store as mentioned. $25 bucks plus tax. They will sew it on for you for $10, but only onto the regular home or away blue/green orca jerseys, 2-4 weeks turnaround... Just take it to a Chinese tailor/hemming place and get done for cheap with no restrictions :)

yes of course i understand they take turns on being the alternate captain (and obviously there wont be 4 alternate captains in one game LOL)...im talking about buying a jersey...not whos being the alternate captain in a game .

what i mean is that, when you buy a jersey either online or in person, the jersey would usually have the "A" stitched on the jersey for Kes/ Bieksa and etc....like you wouldnt see a Kesler blue home jersey with "A", but no "A" on away white jersey when you buy it in store/ online.

True North Sports and Entertainment has called a news conference for Noon et/11am ct today where they are expected to address their negotiations with Atlanta Spirit Group on the sale and relocation of the Thrashers to Winnipeg.

The Atlanta Thrashers-to-Winnipeg situation has been an ongoing negotiation and the legal teams involved with True North, the Atlanta Spirit and the National Hockey League spent Monday night and early Tuesday morning combing over what should be the framework of an agreement.

Lawyers on the Winnipeg side signed off on the deal on Monday afternoon and the Atlanta legal team was left to do their due diligence. Once they sign off on the deal, the sale will go through pending league approval.

Once an agreement has been reached, True North is expected to launch a season ticket drive.

Details to follow.

Looks like Atlanta will move to Winnipeg after all. Really, who didn't see this coming? But now it's official!

Manitoba Moose is my bet. IMO True North Sports spent too much time building up the Moose brand there and it might be cutting it too close to properly repaint the building, design jerseys, etc.. for new colours/logos/name for the beginning of next season.

What's going to suck is that all the Jets' franchise/team history and records belong to the Coyotes, so the Jets' greats like Bobby Hull, Steen, Hawerchuck and Selanne are part of the Coyotes history.

Canucks get royally fucked. True North owns the Moose and will continue to own and retain the Moose AHL team for the Manitoba/Winnipeg franchise, with the AHL team rumored to be moving to St. Johns. That would mean the Canucks would have no AHL affiliate agreement for now and every AHL team has already affiliate agreements with NHL teams except for the Chicago Wolves.

The Chicago Wolves would be a horrible affiliate to develop players as the owners there are interested more in icing a vetern, competitive team and turning a profit. The Wolves have gone through many different NHL team affiliations over the years with the management and owners quite often bumping heads with their NHL counterparts. The Wolves really have no interest in developing players properly for the NHL at all.

The Canucks really get screwed in loosing their agreement with Moose management guys like Chipman and Heisinger. It was Heisinger that found Burrows, Rypien, Bolduc and Mark Flood (who many are saying could be the next diamond in the rough) it was Heisinger that fought to keep and offer Bieska a pro contract when Bieska was a 5th round after thought. Chipman and Heisinger played key roles in developing Schneider, Burrows, Kesler, Hansen, Edler and Bieska, sometimes I think people overlook how important it is to have a proper development system for your prospects, not every player is a Ovechkin or Crosby, most need proper guidance to develop into the players they are today.

It's an ok deal, sec 113 doesn't have the best view IMO, I prefer center ice or side view even if its from the upper bow. Personally I'm not a fan of the corners.

Yes they have a affiliate contract with the Moose for 1 more year but I believe there was always an out clause if True North bought an NHL team. The Canucks will retain the players on the Moose they have contracts and draft rights with, having to move them to a new AHL team and city. The Moose retain all the other players with no contracts with the Canucks.

my boss at work was going to sell me a pair of game 5 lower bowl tickets seated near the opposing team's hallway/dressing room for $600/pair.

It's the cup finals. Not rounds 1, 2, or 3. Whether you get ripped off isn't a question, its how bad you want to go.

This sums it up pretty good. Personally I think if you want to go to a finals game live be prepared to spend IMO at the minimum $1,000 per person. Even with a ticket for $600 to $800, figure a night out drinking/eating at game/pregame/post game at least another $200 minimum. Some Canucks' fans have waited 17 to 40 years to witness this, so to experience your team in the finals live is priceless IMO, so don't get too hung up on how much you paid, just enjoy the experience.

hahha wow, the standing room only tickets that went on sale today on TM for $211.90 have already been listed on Stubhub for $799. Ticket brokers must've had staffs of 50 on computers grabbing up all tickets at 10am sharp.

Which is exactly why the best way to do it although it's a bit too late now due to wait list is to get an icepack or season tickets.

I was lucky and applied during the West Coast Express days and only on the wait list for 1 year before I was able to get an Icepack. What I do every year now is pick a few games I intend to go to and sell the rest for TM face value. With the discount we get the TM face value I sell them for still givese me enough profit to watch my games for free.

I have Upperbowl 2 tickets this year and my Finals Game 2 tickets only cost $380 for the pair. If only I had Full Seasons =\

Canuck fans will have no shortage of places downtown to watch the Stanley Cup Finals with fellow diehard fans.

Two new viewing sites were announced by the city and CBC Tuesday.

A giant television screen will be set up in the 700-block Granville Street, in the prime pedestrian block sandwiched between Georgia and Robson Street.

The screen will be mounted on the back of a flat-deck truck that will be parked on Granville Street —— similar to the setup during last summer’s World Cup matches.

The CBC Fan Zone outside the CBC in the 700-block of Hamilton, between Georgia and Robson, will also get another large TV screen.

The site has already proved to be popular with fans — rain or shine — during previous Canucks’ playoff matches. Both sites will open at 3 p.m.

“The excitement and anticipation for the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs is building in our city, and we want to make the most of it,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson in a media release.

“As we all join to cheer the Canucks, we want to ensure the city’s celebrations are family friendly, fun and, most of all, safe for everyone.”

Fans are asked to tote their own chair or blankets, but are advised to leave the booze at home.

Vancouver Police officers will be on-site, Chief Jim Chu said.

“We want the focus to be on the game. Leave the liquor at home and allow our officers to focus on keeping everyone safe,” he said.

Both locations will show home and away games.

Last week, Canucks management also announced that Rogers Arena will be open for fans during the team’s away games.
