That idea probably wouldn't be that good, since it would be inconsistent.
Some cup winning teams only show up for that winning season and break apart the next season.

Timing seems a little odd considering Hodgson just came back from injury and by all reports his game has not been at 100% yet in the 4 games back.

Like I said months ago, Hodgson can play center or wing on 3rd or 4th line to get used to the speed and intensity of NHL. He's not a one dimensional player who NEEDS to be on the top 1 or 2 lines. He will be eventually, but IMO he's versatile enough today to fill any role we have for him.

Panthers, Lightning, Kings, and Predators are expected to have all new home and road sets. The only way they will release the tickets under will call is:
1. Matching ID
2. Matching credit card (one you use to purchase)
3. Two hours prior to the game

This is my experience from LA Lakers and LA Kings will call window. I had 3 pair of tickets for 3 consecutive nights and I tried to pick them up all at once. They didn't let me and I had to line up every single night. :(

In total 18 guests are traveling with the Canucks to Dallas and Phoenix this week on the Siblings Trip and Canucks.com is fortunate to have Erin Hamhuis, sister of Dan Hamhuis, as a guest blogger for the adventure.

I’ve never really blogged before, but I’ve never been on a road trip with the Vancouver Canucks either, so it only makes sense to start now.

I’m Erin Hamhuis, Dan Hamhuis’ younger sister, and I’m lucky enough to be on the road with the Canucks right now for the siblings’ trip! Dan first brought this up I think in November, he called and asked if I could get time off from the Credit Union I work at in Smithers, BC, and there was no question, I was very excited and said of course I’d come.

The team gave us all jerseys with our brother’s name on the back, which was nice, and then we went to the hotel, got settled, had a team plus siblings picture and then the team took us out for dinner to a really really nice steakhouse. We sat at the table and just goofed around and enjoyed our meal and it was really nice. It was very comfortable too and it was really nice of the Canucks to take care of us the way they did; it was pretty special.

This is one of the benefits of having a former player agent as a GM: he knows the kinds of *little things* that players like, things beyond just the paycheck that you can use to entice them.

yeah, I was thinking of that too. Natural reaction is to try to break your fall with your arms or hands, but with all that gear on, probably best to just tuck in and land on a shoulder or even elbow in hockey.

In my keeper league, I received this trade:

Thinking about it.

IMO it depends on a lot of factors.

How many players are kept each year
What stat catagories are counted
Is there a min number of D needed on the team
Are you still trying to win this year or tanking and building for the future

In the current keepers pool I'm in where we only count points I wouldn't make that trade
Gaborik is roughly a PPG player and would get picked up in the first round in any year where as PK is still un proven points wise and could probably be picked up in the middle rounds of the yearly draft, and you're expected to give up 3 rounds on top of that
But then again, in my pool the protected spots are usually reserved for elite scorers and franchise goalies. There are only a handful of D that get protected every year and these are the obvious recent norris nominees and/or winners (ie lidstrom, keith, doughty etc...)

6 keepers + 1 extra keeper that you acquire through a trade.

Currently my keepers are Gaborik, John Carlson, Taylor Hall, Matt Duchene, Paul Stastny, Henrik Lundqvist.

I also have another D prospect coming up (Oliver Ekman-Larsson) but if he plays 60 games, I have to either drop him or keep him as a keeper rather than a prospect.

I've had Gabs for years now and he's only produced two good seasons without significant injury so I'm looking to unload him but there's no question that healthy, he's an elite forward.

Young players with star potential are extremely valuable in keeper leagues. Taylor Hall, for example, cost me Iginla, Visnovsky and Varlamov (all guys I didn't really want to keep because they're old). If he turns out to be awesome, I have a star player for 10+ years.

Oh by the way, scoring in my league is balanced for D-men so that an elite defenseman is just as valuable if not more than elite forwards.

Forward +/- is not calculated but it is for D-men. Also, all D-men points are multiplied by 1.5.

Therefore, when Lidstrom scored 80 points, he's equally as valuable as Ovechkin scoring 120 and so on.

That's why I'm betting on Carlson being the future of the Caps blueline. I also think OEL is a top prospect...comparable to Lidstrom in the future.

If you guys are only keeping 6 or 7 players I think there are more viable options, especially if you're already keeping a D man in Carlson. Since forwards are typically going to get you more points than a Dman I'd save your keeper spots for PPG forwards. Besides, I think there are a lot of young underrated Dman (letang, yandle, jack johnson etc...) that you can try and pick up in next years draft instead of giving up 3 rounds and one of your keepers. Is the guy that's offering you this trade even planning on keeping PK?

Keep in mind...14 players...7 players each...that's 98 NHL players off the table.
