Fans cheer after the Bruins win Monday.
The Bruins’ victory over the Canucks in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night was marred by an ugly play against Boston forward Nathan Horton — and some ugly behavior toward Vancouver fans. The league has rightly suspended Aaron Rome for four games, ending his season. Both the Garden and loyal Bruins fans now have a responsibility to make sure that visiting fans aren’t harassed, however misplaced their loyalties might seem.

It’s one thing to rib opposing fans, but at least a few Bruins fans crossed the line. According to numerous accounts from Canucks fans, visitors were harangued, squirted with mustard, or even spit at — especially after the hit on Horton added to the tension in the stands. Nothing that happens on the ice warrants such a hostile response among fans.

It’s especially troubling to hear reports by spectators of heckling with racial overtones. Nancy Grewal of Toronto, who is Indian-Canadian, told the Globe she was repeatedly called a “terrorist’’ by a neighboring fan. She says she alerted ushers to the harassment, but the fan was not removed, forcing her to leave seats for which she paid $1,800.

Acts like these demand a vigilant response from the Garden. Tonight, the venue needs to beef up security and, if necessary, cut off alcohol sales if tensions flare. Vancouver fans should be aware of a number — (617) 624-2326 — where they can report problems at the Garden. Local fans, meanwhile, need to keep it civil; they must not tolerate behavior toward visitors that they wouldn’t abide if they were on the receiving end.

Agreed. Friday will probably be the most crucial game of entire Canuck history. People can argue game 7 in 94 was the most crucial game but the '94 team was not the highly favourable team and won by strong will and miracles.

As for the Canucks this year, they have a high reputation to keep, especially afterwinning the Presidents' Trophy. They're literally top of just almost every statistical category in the regular season.

Hockey players/fans are the most superstitious people in the world. Go ahead & bring up reality, but as a fan of the sport, you should be aware of this and at least respect it. No need to bring it down.

For example, I'm an athieist, but I don't tell people who believe in god to get a reality check....

That said, I'm not very supstitious...If we win a game, I'll wear the same shirt I was wearing that day for the next game, but that's about as far as I go....I don't care much about patterns in the past, but I do find them interesting.

So I've been trying to hold back all playoffs long and not get too ahead of myself despite Canucks doing so well...

I do all those things knowing full well that my playoff beard does not affect how the Canucks play. I know that my beard is not going to produce some sort of butterfly effect. I can't logically think of a reason why it would make a difference to make a joke about it.

The Ice at Rogers Arena for Games 1 & 2 were apparently brutal as well according to one of the alumni's. The Canucks didn't look slow in Boston because of the Ice but it was Boston that dominated us making us look like Turtles. Boston actually looked pretty fast in Games 3 & 4.

Agreed. Alberts play a much slower game that Boston can feast on. With Tanev and Ballard, we can push the puck much faster and input more speed into the game.

I think Ballard's speed and good skating is his own downfall.
He's way too confident with the puck and holds it longer than necessary and circles back all the time... Then loses it due to Boston's aggressive forechek.

He hasn't been all that great in the post season at all. I still rememeber that own goal

Second image clip didn't show Burrows initiating it by chopping the stick out of Thomas hand.

The bodycheck was kinda iffy. In his interview, he said Henrik caught the puck in mid air,
and he wanted to take him out before letting Henrik have the option to drop it left or right.
Basically too many options for Henrik if he lets him drop the puck on his stick (or maybe even bat it in mid air).
I somewhat understand from a goalie's point of view. Maybe a penalty should have been called though.

But I think the real reason Canuck fans are pissed is just because he's stopping everything.
And he always has this smirk on his face like he's just having a great time.


I said earlier, not sure how many penalties have Canucks got from crashing into Thomas when he's out of the crease.
