Hawks still have Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, and Seabrook, and possibly a psychological edge over Luongo. Dallas has Morrow, Richards, Eriksson, and......Ribeiro? Its not even close IMO. Look at our games vs them this year and how tight all the Chicago games were, while the Dallas games were all basically borderline blowouts.

I'm sorry but if you think we can't handle the Hawks, what about the second round then when we get there? What if the team we go up against is the Ducks? Selanne, Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, Visnovsky? Those guys are power houses. What about SJS? Thornton, Marleau, Heatly, Clowe, Pavelski, Boyle, Couture? What if come finals time we play against BOS or PHI? They're probably the deepest teams in the east. Gonna be scared of them as well?

I said it once and I'll say it again, if we can't beat the Hawks we don't deserve the cup. I don't know what difference it makes if we play DAL or CHI. Sure we dominated them in the regular season, but playoffs is completely different hockey.

If you don't know what the difference is between CHI and DAL, then you don't know anything about hockey. That's just as dumb as your first sentence. I said it once and I'll say it again, if we can't beat ANY team, we don't deserve the cup.

Dal = less travel, easier team, more likely to be a shorter series which = less likelihood of injury which = playoff longevity.

It's not about being afraid of CHI (or ANY team for that matter). I'm 100% confident we'll beat them and shake the demons. The fact is, in every sport, every single athlete looks for some type of competitive edge. Read the above paragraph for a few examples of the competitive edge the Canucks would gain from playing Dal vs. Chi.

Dallas is less travel than Chicago? I'm not saying you're wrong or right, but I thought CHI is closer. I agree and disagree with you. Yeah my first statement is pretty dumb as I look at it again, but you can't necessarily predict that DAL would be a shorter series vs playing CHI. Yes we did run them over in the regular season, but playoffs is different than regular season.

I don't think it's a matter of being scared. It's just smarter to take on the weakest teams first to avoid injuries and to get some rest before the next round

I agree, but any team can be deemed a weaker team, but still push you to 7 games.

I agree, but any team can be deemed a weaker team, but still push you to 7 games.

Obviously anything can happen in the playoffs but on paper and theoretically speaking, chicago has a stronger team compared to dallas

chicago: toews, kane, sharp, keith, seabrook, hossa
dallas: richards, eriksson, morrow/ribiero (if they even show up)

chicago has a strong 1st line and 1st pairing d
dallas has 2/3 of a good 1st line and no d or goaltending

i could care less which team we play because we've been great all season long but would i have preferred to play a weaker dallas team as opposed to chicago? fuck yeah.

I'll say it: he's wrong.

Flight distance, Chicago is about 100 miles closer to us than Dallas. Time-wise, both are about a four-hour flight. With jetstreams, they might save a half-hour going to Chicago, and lose it again coming back... overall they average out the same.

as much as this comment is true. only the CDC will buy that garbage

I think Patrick Kane holds the biggest monkey on the team. The two SEEM like they WELCOME to competition with each other based on the two playoff series and the olympics.

Regardless, The hawks play a different game now after losing half their team to cap issues. The key players are still there and now can COMPLETELY take a game over based on their play.

Meh my thinking has always been what Ch28 is thinking now. Would I have preferred Dallas? Hell yea but the Stanley Cup is no walk in the park and if we are going to win it we have to go through 4 tough rounds. Now that I know it;s the Blackcocks I say bring it on. I have believed in the Canucks all season long and this won't change anything. This is our year and nobody will stop us. Go Canucks!

If you look at the Hawks last game vs the Wings today 7 players had more than 20 minutes (4 of them forwards). Sharp, Kane, Toews, Hossa.

If you look at the Canucks last game vs the Flamers, only 4 players had more than 20 mins (all 4 were defensemen) with Kesler being the forward with the most at 18.15.

Granted the Hawks game had more meaning than the Canucks last night..I think this speaks to the depth the Canucks have this season.

If we are going to win this series it will be because of our depth. If they can neutrailze the Hawks big 4 - and dominate their 3rd and 4th lines they will have a great chance to win this series.

Wednesday cannot come quick enough!!

Winning a tough first round will pave the way to a successful rest of the playoffs.. It will build confidence and increase team morale... If they come out relatively healthy that is.. If they were to play Dallas and sweep them beating them with at least 2 goals each game, they would probably get pounded in game 1 of round 2.

The teams that were underdogs and went through tot he finals are an example.. Calgary when they beat vancouver in 7, ended up getting to the finals... canucks in 94 beat calgary in 7... very tough series, again, round 2 and 3 werent so tough for them, they got to the final...

Where did I ever say I don't think the Nucks can take the hawks or are scared of them? I think the Nucks WILL beat the hawks, but it will be in 6 or 7 games, vs the 4 or 5 it would have taken vs the Stars. If you don't see how that extra few days rest would help in the latter part of a long playoff run (ie. more likely to BE ABLE TO beat the Ducks/Sharts in a later round), I'm not sure what else to say.

Not what happened in '07 when we had that 7 game series against the Stars

Weber is getting a lot of mentions from coaches and GMs around the league.

Visnovsky has to be at the top since he's tops in the league in points and a crucial player in the Ducks lineup.

This thing is determined by the press, and they just keep nut hugging Lidstrom. Chances are they are just going to vote for him again just because of his age and his performance this year.

Lidstrom won't get the Norris.

As far as pending free agents who are totally underrated/flying under the radar, what do you guys think of a guy like Keith Yandle? Granted he is due for a big pay raise (only making 1.3 this year, which is amazing for 59 pt). But he could be a good replacement if we lose both Salo and Bieksa in the offseason.

He's a RFA theres no way Canucks will throw him an offer sheet and give up picks to have him when they can just re-sign Salo or Bieksa for cheaper and dont have to give up anything

I think he's had an okay year, the minus is probably the only thing holding him back, im just saying when you read around Lidstroms name always pops up for Norris.

Besides the RFA thing for Yandle, management needs to make a decisions on Salo, Bieksa, AND Ehrhoff too.

If we go for Yandle say good bye to Salo, Bieksa, AND Ehrhoff. Rather keep #5, IMO.

Say goodbye to all of our upcoming draft picks as well

I hope we re-sign Ehrhoff. There's always good news about him on Twitter being posted from media and fans saying how he's always out there and willing to autograph every fan's memorabilia before leaving.

There were about 50 fans waiting by the Canucks bus after the Flames game on Saturday and he walked up and signed all their stuff before heading into the bus.

Guys like that are crucial to having a successful team.

Couture, Logan -22 Yrs

Canucks' trio win NHL trophies
Sunday, 04.10.2011 / 8:35 PM / NHL Awards NHL.com

Three members of the Vancouver Canucks, who helped their club capture the Presidents' Trophy for posting the NHL's best record, have added individual awards as the 2010-11 regular-season schedule concluded today. Left wing Daniel Sedin won his first career Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring leader, while Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider earned the William Jennings Trophy as the goaltenders on the club allowing the fewest goals.

Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry, a potential Hart Trophy finalist, joined the Canucks' trio as an award winner, capturing the Maurice Richard Trophy as the League's goal-scoring leader.

The four trophy winners will be honored at the 2011 NHL Awards, to be held in Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 22.

Sedin kept the Art Ross Trophy in the family by finishing the season with a League-leading and career-high 104 points (41 goals, 63 assists). With twin brother Henrik claiming the award in 2009-10, this marks the first time in League history that brothers have won scoring titles in consecutive seasons. Daniel sparked the League's top-ranked power-play unit by tallying a League-leading 18 goals and 42 points with the man advantage. He also tied for second place among NHL forwards in plus-minus (plus-30).

I don't expect he's too happy about having to call the Laffs games every week, either... but it is the "marquee" time slot for HNIC. And I imagine the Laffs requested him... and what the Laffs want, the Laffs get.

He's a BC boy and an admitted Canucks fan, I'm sure he'd be calling more of our games, given the choice.

Mark Lee is always a couple of seconds behind the play. It would be fine if he were like Bob Cole because at least Cole knows when to pick up the tempo and raise his voice. Lee is behind the play and he yells in order to make up for it.

To me, Jim Robson will always be the best play-by-play guy for the Canucks.

If you grew up listening to the Canucks on the radio (before every game was televised), you would understand why there are some of us who still admire the guy. When you listened to Robson, you knew exactly what was going on the ice. Plus, he didn't have to rely on catchy phrases to bring excitement to the game.

Too many TV guys seem to think that because you can see the pictures, they don't need to go into as much detail. Sometimes guys who move from radio to TV are even worse.

Hughie's never lost that "radio" touch, where you could close your eyes and still get a good visual of what's happening on the ice.

Listening to him on with Pratt & Taylor earlier, and he is STOKED to be calling the Canucks games for their entire run. They asked him for his prediction for the Cup... he said it was a no-win for him, because if he says the Canucks, he's labeled a homer, and if he says anyone else, people ask if he's crazy for not picking Nux. :D

Is he? Last I heard he wasn't playing very well in Manitoba, so was suprised to hear he was called up. Especially since you'd think he'd be called up for the final few games (last 2 for sure) to get his NHL legs underneath him. Maybe it was a cap issue?

Why Vancouver Will Win The Cup

Having been among the NHL's elite teams for the better part of the past decade, the Vancouver Canucks established themselves atop that list this season by capturing the Presidents' Trophy and putting the franchise in prime position to lift the Stanley Cup for the first time.

Put this as your status if you know someone/are related to someone who suffers from being a Chicago Blackhawks fan. Being a Blackhawks fan is a real disorder and should be taken seriously. There is still no known cure for CBF and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness. 90% of Blackhawks fans wont repost this ... because they don't know how to cut and paste.

You just know, the way Gillis and Aquilini roll, they'll have him around the whole time... great morale booster for the whole team, and for the fans. Look at the reaction it got when he came out for the President's Trophy presentation, from both on and off the ice.

This goes to prove what I said when Gillis was first hired: his experience as an agent gives him a unique perspective into the kinds of things that entice players to come here, and to keep them here, and keep them happy - from the way you treat them on a personal level, right down to the sickest dressing rooms in the league, sometimes there's more to it than just money (especially in the salary-cap era).

yup, they actually mentioned it before (can't remember where or who atm). manny has still been reviewing video, talking to the team about strategy, sharing everything he can with teammates to better our chances. he still has a huge voice in the locker room and is well respected. i too love what gillis has done with this team and he really has solidified vancouver as a premier location to play your NHL career.

I'm a little worried that the Canucks may not have the toughness needed to go all the way - both physically and mentally. Only time will tell. I hope they stay healthy. I remember Linden playing with cracked ribs, bleeding, and downright beat up, but he continued to play his heart out. Kesler is like that, but how many others have that kind of toughness? All the stats, trophies, and awards in the regular season mean nothing in the playoffs. First place, eighth place......... doesn't mean dick. Every team is going to step it up............. so nervous now. Fuck, I hope the Canucks blow out the blackhawks in game one.

i agree on the toughness part but our mental strength is a LOT better this year. also, others have pointed out that detroit has minimal toughness as well and have won several cups (as we all know). i have a lot of confidence in this year's squad over last year's for sure. our defense and goaltending are excellent, our top 2 lines are a force to be dealt with and the 3rd and 4th line have been able to contribute (better with manny of course) significantly more than last year.

Dark horses in this year's playoffs?

- Chris Higgins. Didn't appear much on the scoresheet, but he has good hockey sense, and actually wins battles for pucks.
- Victor Oreskovich. The guy is big and has speed. I was very impressed when he was up here a couple of weeks ago. He's what Steve Bernier should have been.
- Keith Ballard. If he lays out a couple of hip checks early in the series, he'll know that he has arrived.

Florida considers jersey sponsorship: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Panthers-president-open-to-jerseys-ads-talks-se?urn=nhl-wp2376

Listen to any sporting event on the radio, and you realize how even the most inconsequential play is now sponsored by some corporate entity. Walk into any sporting venue, and you realize every space that could be turned into an advertisement has been, from the luxury suites to the power plays to the glass behind the nets (thanks, CGI).

Well, almost every space. If the question was "what part of the arena could possibly be transformed into a revenue stream next?", the Florida Panthers recently provided the answer: The rink itself.

Starting next season, the Panthers will play on The Lexus Rink at the BankAtlantic Center, which is how it will be referenced on team broadcasts and in promotional materials.

"They wanted a game changer," said Panthers President Michael Yormark of Lexus, a longtime sponsor of the team. "People are always looking for the same old thing, and that's not in our DNA."

So once you sell the ice, what's next? How about the gear? Would Yormark put ads on Panthers jerseys if the NHL allowed it?

"Yes, I would," he said.

"Obviously, the jerseys are the next great frontier, but obviously there needs to be a lot of thought that goes into it, in terms of how you want to market the jersey as it relates to sponsorship. I don't think that we want to get close to what NASCAR has done. That's not to say what they do is wrong, because it works within their sport and culture. I don't think that works in the National Hockey League ... but I do think there's an opportunity for some branding on the jerseys. If you go to Europe, it's pretty common."

And it's also overkill, looking very much like that NASCAR aesthetic.

"Absolutely, and I don't think we want to go in that direction," Yormark said in an interview last Friday. "But at some point, there will be a great debate about it, and at some point it may be strongly, strongly considered. And if it was, we'd take advantage of it."

"The dollars that have been generated in European soccer with jersey sponsorships have been absolutely enormous," he continued.

"I do believe it presents an incredible opportunity, and I'm hopeful that one day it's something the National Hockey League does take seriously. But there will have to be limitations."

Odd to hear Yormark talk about limitations, because the Panthers rarely exhibit them in their marketing. Which, for a team struggling to build a larger fan base, is a good thing.

Their promotions are legendary: Witness the "Name Your Price" season ticket plan or their reaction to LeBron James taking his talents to South Beach. They've also been known to market directly to opposing fan bases, touting Panthers games as part of a vacation experience for Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens fans.

"The most important thing is to fill seats and sell tickets," said Yormark. "I'm not going to apologize for marketing to fans in Montreal or Philadelphia or Detroit. To have 16,000 or 17,000 people in the building, it's great theater."

In their theater of hockey, the Panthers found a way to sell their stage to Lexus.

It's a genius move on a number of levels, none the least that they managed to add a sponsor to a rink that's already sold all four of its sponsorship positions on the ice. Instead, Yormark said, Lexus will be featured on signage on the scoreboard, the dashers and other parts of the rink.

But the real value, he said, is name value.

"I think eventually people will refer to it as the Lexus Rink at the BankAtlantic Center," said Yormark, noting that the team's broadcasters will constantly refer to it in that manner. "It's got a nice flow to it. It even creates more value for the naming rights holder, because whenever Lexus is mentioned, BankAtlantic is mentioned as well."

Yormark said that finding this new avenue for Lexus was vital in "maintaining" their relationship, which was due to expire at the end of the season. "This is something I've been holding in my back pocket for the right partner. When I understood their goals and objectives, I pulled it out of my back pocket and they fell in love with it."

Will other NHL teams fall in love with it, too? Will we one day have the Subway Eat Fresh Rink at Madison Square Garden?

The Minnesota Vikings sold their playing surface naming rights to Mall of America in 2009; since then, the trend hasn't really caught on. But Yormark said there's interest from his peers.

"We've gotten a lot of calls. From a marketing standpoint, I'd like to think we're out of the box. We like to do things on the cutting edge," he said.

"Until we win, people won't really recognize the creativity we've shown for the last five to eight years. There's not a lot of teams that would have survived in a non-traditional market with a team that hasn't made the playoffs in the last 11 years and 10 seasons."

^IMO ads on jerseys are pretty gross.

Also, I imagine Lu could grow a pretty crazy beard.

This year, I have a lot of the favourites, yet if you've been following my Power Rankings at all, you would know that I won't be surprised if several lower seeds jump up and bite the higher seeds.

For example, I have the Washington Capitals at nine and the New York Rangers at ten. I'm picking the Caps to win, but will hardly be shocked if they're pushed to the limit by the Blueshirts.

Even the Vancouver Canucks, the top seed in the entire postseason, has a tough draw in the first round, so it's not going to be a real shock if low seeds again make noise in the playoffs.

For more information, please check out the following:

The Playoff Payoff - A more detailed stats breakdown, with strategy, likely line combinations and deep sleepers for each team.

NHL Power Rankings - You'll have some idea how good I think a team is based on their finish here.

NHL Player Rankings - Not geared to the NHL playoffs, but a position-by-position breakdown of the league's best.

WASHINGTON CAPITALS vs. NEW YORK RANGERS

Provided Mike Green is able to play for the Capitals, they deserve to be favoured in the series, but not in any way the lopsided match-up that would be typical of a top seed against an eighth seed. Green doesn't have a strong playoff track record and his production was down even before his concussion woes, but with Dennis Wideman sidelined, the Capitals surely need their power play quarterback to make a difference.

Even though they weren't the scoring juggernaut that they were in 2009-2010, the Capitals have the requisite skill to handle the Rangers, unless Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist comes up huge, which isn't an impossibility, since he has been the backbone of the Rangers' push to the postseason.

The Rangers' late-season scoring troubles (17 goals in the last nine games) could only be magnified by the absence of Ryan Callahan, their second-leading goal scorer, who suffered a broken ankle blocking a Zdeno Chara shot last week, so the Rangers desperately need sniper Marian Gaborik to be more productive than he was during the regular season, when he scored a modest 22 goals.

Perhaps the swing position for the Capitals will be goaltending. They won't have Jose Theodore around to start the first game of the playoffs, only to be banished to the bench thereafter, so Michal Neuvirth figures to get the first shot between the pipes, with Semyon Varlamov ready to step in, if need be.

The Pick: Capitals in seven.

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS vs. BUFFALO SABRES

As long as defenceman Chris Pronger is out of the Flyers lineup, and the Flyers remain ever-secretive on that front, they are vulnerable. The goaltending hasn't been strong enough to overcome the absence of the veteran shutdown defender, but just because there are questions on the back end doesn't mean the Flyers aren't a dangerous bunch.

Few teams can match the forward depth that the Flyers can roll out, so Philadelphia has the ability to advance, as long as the goaltending, led by rookie Sergei Bobrovsky, holds up.

A strong finish to the season, going 16-4-4 in the last 24 regular season games (including a pair of wins over the Flyers) lifted the Sabres into the playoffs and while the Sabres don't have six players with at least 49 points, like the Flyers, they did get significant contributions late in the year from players like defenceman Andrej Sekera and winger Nathan Gerbe, players that will play a more prominent role than their overall point totals might suggest.

With a collective effort, the Sabres have an opportunity to upset a Flyers team that finished the regular season with five regulation wins in 14 games after Pronger suffered a broken hand.

The Pick: Sabres in seven.

BOSTON BRUINS vs. MONTREAL CANADIENS

Perhaps the perfect contrast in styles, with the Bruins employing muscle and intimidation against a speedy and shifty Canadiens group that has no hope of matching the Bruins if the game turns into trench warfare.

Montreal might need goaltender Carey Price to stand on his head to steal the series, but it's tough to forecast an advantage in goal when the Bruins answer with Tim Thomas, who just happened to record the highest save percentage in history this season.

The Canadiens aren't especially deep, so they'll need the guys at the top end to produce, which means another big playoff from LW Mike Cammalleri, continued production from RW Brian Gionta and C Tomas Plekanec and something, anything, from C Scott Gomez, who is coming off a miserable 38-point season. Defencemen P.K. Subban and James Wisniewski will also need to contribute on the power play.

While Boston isn't overpowering offensively, they boast more weapons than the Canadiens, with a nice mix of playmaking centres David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron as well as power forwards Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton. If the Bruins are to avoid the upset, they're going to need their power play to be much better. Since acquiring Tomas Kaberle from Toronto, the Bruins' power play is just 7-for-67 (10.4%) in 23 games.

The Pick: Bruins in six.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS vs. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

It's asking a lot to put the weight of the entire series on the health of one player, but when that player is Sidney Crosby, it's understandable if his presence can make the difference between the fourth and fifth seeds in the East.

Crosby has been practicing with the Penguins and it wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to practice without the objective of having him play in the postseason, but as long as the Penguins are casting doubt on 87's availability for Game One, the Penguins are in a tough spot.

In 41 games since Crosby was sidelined, the Penguins have 13 regulation wins. With no shootouts at their disposal in the playoffs, Pittsburgh will have to generate more offence, which means getting more from trade acquisitions James Neal and Alex Kovalev, who have combined for three goals in 39 games since arriving in the Steel City.

After some struggles in recent years, the Lightning may be happy just to be in the playoffs, but have enough veterans -- Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis, Simon Gagne and Ryan Malone, most notably -- that have tasted playoff success that they won't be overwhelmed by a Penguins roster that has racked up a lot of playoff games in the last three seasons.

At the same time, Tampa Bay's defence is suspect and they're counting on 41-year-old G Dwayne Roloson to backstop the whole effort.

The Pick: Penguins in six.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS vs. CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

While the Canucks can say they want another matchup with the Blackhawks, there would have been more favourable first-round opponents for the league's top seed. The Canucks finally have a healthy defence corps, which gives them a depth advantage on most any team, their goaltending is as good as any and they boast a strong group of scoring forwards. They didn't finish ten points ahead of all others for no reason.

At the same time, the depth forwards of the Canucks will be challenged. C Manny Malhotra is out with an eye injury and LW Raffi Torres is suspended for the first two games, so the bottom six is a little suspect; perhaps Cody Hodgson will be a factor in a third-line role.

After sneaking into the playoffs, the Blackhawks can't mind facing off with a team that they've bounced from the playoffs in back-to-back years. If C David Bolland is able to return from a concussion, he'll give the Blackhawks a much-needed checking presence to throw at the Sedins, which could help free up Jonathan Toews for more offensive endeavours.

Naturally, the Blackhawks will need rookie G Corey Crawford to play well if they're going to knock off the top-seeded Canucks and last year's Norris Trophy winner, Duncan Keith, has to be a difference-maker for Chicago (he hasn't been nearly as consistent this year, so it can't just be assumed that Keith will provide 27 minutes of sterling all-around play, night-in and night-out).

The Pick: Canucks in seven.

SAN JOSE SHARKS vs. LOS ANGELES KINGS

It's not as if the San Jose Sharks, with six regulation losses in the last 37 games, need a lot of help, but getting the Kings in the first round is a better fate than what awaits the top-seeded Canucks.

The Kings may get RW Justin Williams back at some point in the series, though he's recovering from a dislocated shoulder, so it's hard to know how effective he will be. More importantly, franchise centre Anze Kopitar is out and the Kings (like most teams) don't have a ready-made replacement for their No. 1 pivot.

If the Kings can get outstanding goaltending and defencemen Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson can control play, maybe they'll have a shot against the Sharks, but San Jose has so much more depth and G Antti Niemi has been every bit as good for San Jose as G Jonathan Quick has been for Los Angeles.

Gritty winger Ryane Clowe is questionable for the Sharks, due to a lower body injury, and his absence certainly taxes the Sharks' depth, but San Jose has too many weapons.

The Pick: Sharks in five.

DETROIT RED WINGS vs. PHOENIX COYOTES

It's expected that Henrik Zetterberg won't be ready to start the series for the Red Wings and that's a major loss, but Detroit is nothing if not deep, so they may be able to escape the series without him.

Rest assured, it won't come easily. The Coyotes don't have big-time scorers, but defenceman Keith Yandle is a Norris Trophy candidate and the Coyotes took the Wings to Game Seven in Round One last year.

If there is an advantage to be had for Phoenix, it rests in goal, where Ilya Bryzgalov is capable of stealing a series, particularly if Jimmy Howard isn't up to the task for the Red Wings.

Siding with depth and experience, the Wings will find a way to get it done, giving Zetterberg time to get healthy and have an impact.

The Pick: Red Wings in seven.

ANAHEIM DUCKS vs. NASHVILLE PREDATORS

I so wanted this year to be the year that I would pick the Predators to advance beyond the first round, but matching up against a Ducks team that has been rolling late in the year isn't an easy way to go.

Anaheim's biggest question may be in goal, where Jonas Hiller is recovering from vertigo and Ray Emery, who filled in admirably while Hiller has been out, has been nursing a lower body injury. Emery is supposed to be ready for the playoffs and if either he or Dan Ellis can provide stability between the pipes, the Ducks have the firepower up front to match any team.

The line of Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan may be the league's best and it could be an epic matchup against Predators defenders Shea Weber and Ryan Suter, but even if the Predators can somehow neutralize the Ducks' top line, there is still a matter of handling Teemu Selanne, who simply notched 80 points in 73 games as a 40-year-old this season.

Nashville's buttoned-down style will be in contrast to a more free-flowing Anaheim attack, which should make for a competitive series, but one in which MVP candidate Corey Perry could make the difference.

The Pick: Ducks in six.

Teams best equipped to pull off upsets (aside from those already picked): Chicago, Nashville, N.Y. Rangers

The Canucks have arguablely the hardest road the cup and probably the most physical

Getting past the hawks = playing ducks/Preds, playing the ducks would be another tough series and were not even at the conf finals yet

"HE'LL PLAY! YOU KNOW HE'LL PLAY! TREVOR LINDEN WILL PLAY IN NEW YORK" - Jim Robson showing rare homerism :) Epic days... man, I remember radio stations talking about people calling them from all over the world cheering for the Canucks then. They were a classic underdog story.

I remember my buddies being so stoked about him getting signed... and all I could think was, what is this overbearing, larger-than-life personality gonna do to our tight-knit little band of rag-tag heroes?

Guess we found out...

The call is

"But there is going to be that seventh game. We hope they can patch Linden up and get him in that one. He will play. You know he'll play! He'll play on crutches! He will play...and he play at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night! The game is over!"

Epic call. I still tear up whenever I hear it.
