i don't care about the ice quality tonight. it's the looks on our players' faces. that look of fear and defeat even though we're only 2/3 into the game.

Me and the wifey both thought they didn't have that 'game time face' during the anthems

contemplating whether to go watch X-Men: First Class before the game ends.
Heard it was good. I normally would never miss a playoff game no matter what, (sat through the full 60 mins of the last 2 thrashing in Boston) But I don't think I can handle this one.

The only thing holding me back is IF some insane miracle happens and Canucks make a comeback, I wouldn't want to miss a stanley cup win. But... let's be real... Will it happen??

Even if they just score one goal... I would have reason to continue watching.... fuck...
I'm pretty sure they started looking forward to game 7 the moment Schneider skated to the net.

And that's probably for the better

God I can't imagine the pressure on Lu for game 7. I bet he's sitting in the locker room right now thinking about the next game. And if he blows game 7 I think it's a safe bet he'll be chased out of town. I really can't see how he'll be able to play in Vancouver when the media and fans will always blame him for losing the cup.

If we can make it a 4 to 2 we have a good chance for game7. If it turns out 5 to 0 then our chance of winning in game 7 is slim.

Exactly. Being a goaltender is so much worse than being a player. You do your job, and it's a thankless one.

You let in a goal and people remember that shit forever, regardless of all the incredible saves made otherwise.

I'm worried that kind of pressure will crack him in game 7, esp it Boston scores first.

Sad but true how much significance can be laid on a single game, just like the chicago game 7, one win is everything and could mean he's idolized or chased out

I don't think it matters how they lose the game. If you forget that 4min of hockey the Canucks haven't played all that bad really. They are putting pressure on Thomas but just can't bury anything. I think they'll come out hard in Game 7 regardless of tonights outcome.

Harvey Specter

No bounces going for the Canucks but it seems like the Canucks are a completely different team in Boston and Boston a completely different team here I wonder how much the travel and the time zone shift is affecting the Bruins when they have to come out here to play.

Mr.HappySilp

Your logic is fail.

If they can put 2 in the net tonight they are going to get a major mental boost. Image if they start game7 all fire up vs starting feeling like shit.

Canucks need something to boost their monument up for next game. Best way is to put a few in the net.

99% Luongo will start.
I just don't see Schneider getting it.

If AV really wants... He should prepare to put in Schenider if Luongo lets in a bad goal early in the game.
And if Boston's pressuring hard. You can kinda tell shit is about to hit the fan before it really happens.

After Luongo let in the first goal today, you could have already told this was going to be a long night, considering
how Boston was still getting scoring chances immediately on the next shift.

i'm so proud of cory schnieder tonight. despite the quick goal, he played pretty damn good. that firstsave on the 5v3 got me out of my seat! also, on that 2v0, that was a great save! i have to be honest and say if that were lu on the 2v0, it would have been a goal.

however, with that said, Lu has a great record at home and he's won a game 7 and olympic gold in our building. I still trust in Lu, he's our guy. to suggest cory will start game 7 is just ridiculous.

anyways, positives from tonight:

powerplay goal
even strength goal
sedins with points
lu got some rest
cory looked great
lu got to watch cory do his thing (motivation)
lu will be pissed off after tonight (forthcoming media raping and luongo chants throughout the night). he seems to play better pissed off and under immense pressure.

you can't help but wonder what kind of game this would have been had we scored first. oh well, BRING ON GAME 7!

I'm fuming so much over the Marchaud cheap punches/facewash to Daniel Sedin. Refs call nothing its fine

But its the fucking Stanley Cup Playoffs - the sedins get pushed around way too often and need to learn how to stand up for themselves.

How do you get punched in the face 5 times and not get punched. I wouldn't punched and deck Marchaud out.

On to Game 7 - I'm a firm believer we'll win - get the right calls and bounces.

LU will start and most likely will play lights out. We just need the entire team to step up and play an air tight game.

Some dismay defense, coverage, forecheck and hitting tonight.

The Bruins strategy seems to be about physical intimidation and it's working for them. They're not even playing hockey anymore. We're the better team but we can't play because they're playing dirty. The only guy with skill on the Bruins side is TT. We need to step up our physical game and intimidate back like game 5.

Whats up with this bullshit win or lose it has to be Luongo? If AV thiks Lu will get him the win then yes put him in but if he thinks he won't then he better not. He should hold just as much merit as Ballard on the team, if there's someone who will perform better then he should also be replaceable.

I let my guard down after being up 2 - 0 and thought it was all wrapped up. Oh, how I'm a nervous wreck right now.

I started watching the Canucks in 1993-4, when my dad got a pair of season tickets. I've been hooked ever since. Even though I was really young at the time, I went to a dozens of games and started following this team religiously. Now, we're in the Finals once again and I can't explain it but disappointment seems expected with the Canucks.

I've followed them since 1991 so I know all about heartbreak and disappointment. I've also seen some amazing things from the Canucks too during that time but in usual Canucks fashion, they continue to bring on the drama and make it hard on themselves.

i'm still a fan and always will be, doesn't matter if things go bad in game 7, i'll still chear for them for ever and ever.

but, you have to call a bad game, and they played like shit. nearly no hitting, no skating, trying to go straight in to cross the blue, no passing, no screaning (if there was it was all shots straight at the screen without taking the time to aim for openings or corners) and pussying out to small guys for fights. at least we showed up in the third. that was almost as bad as the 8-1 game.

They didn't show up as much as they did in game 5, no. but did you expect the Bruins to sit back and let the Canucks hit them like they did in a do or die game at home? Luongo had a bad game, and the 3 goals he let in were all pretty bad. But besides the 4 mins of crap, the Canucks played pretty well. They had more than their own chances to score, and should have had about 3-4 goals by the end of the night. Bad bounces, and an off night. It sucks royally, and I was in disbelief when it was 2, then 3-0. But, I had a bad feeling all day that they weren't going to win tonight.... I didn't want to say it to anyone, but now that they did lose, I had a very bad feeling about tonight.

Anyways, all we can do is get ready to watch another game 7. Hopefully Raymond is ok, but more importantly, Lu repeats a game 5er, and the Sedins start clicking.

Round 1: nail biting team effort
Round 2: kesler show
Round 3: sedin domination
Round 4: roller coaster ride!

tell me i'm talking like a loser. tell me i'm just making excuses for our team. none of what you say matters because in the end none of us are on that ice or in the locker room. the blood, sweat and tears these guys have poured for us is more than enough to earn my eternal respect and loyalty as a canucks fan. the smart fan has been cautiously optimistic since day one. stay the course, BELIEVE!

It feels like the Canucks have not played their best game yet...but the question becomes can they bring an A+ effort in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals?

Injuries are starting to pile up. We've been talking about various guys on both teams elevating their games.

We played a decent enough road game for 2/3 of the game. When that Kaberle shot was deflected off the crossbar/post and into the net (4th goal), I knew that the hockey gods weren't going to be with us tonight. We created enough chances to win the game, but the puck bounced off our sticks on several occasions.

I haven't checked the usual blogs (Puck Daddy, etc.), but I imagine that everyone's ripping Luongo right now. He will start Game 7 and you have to believe that he will come back with a strong game. You got to; if you're a Canucks fan, you have no choice.

I feel bad for Mason Raymond, but let's be honest: he's been invisible most nights.

Jeff Tambellini's confidence is probably pretty low, but he's got a great shot. If there's an opportunity to bury a puck with Thomas sprawling, you know that Tambi will do it. He'll be absolutely pumped - local boy, playing in front of hometown fans in Game 7 of the final.

Yeah, absolutely. He wasn't drafted in the first round for nothing. He has an accurate shot and wheels. When he was on his game, he was pretty decent defensively too. I was hoping to see him tonight actually because Glass had another ineffective game on Friday.

Why has the Vancouver offence gone dry? Lots of reasons of course but Mason Raymond being carted off to the hospital just after the opening faceoff after Monday night’s late hit by Johnny Boychuk with no puck near him and no call early in the first period is a pretty good place to start.

“We all thought it was a penalty but the referee says he (Raymond) lost his edge,” said Henrik Sedin.

He also had his spine driven into the boards while he was in a vulnerable position.

Stated simply, the Bruins can virtually do anything to any Vancouver player with total impunity until after the game is won. At that point, they then get their fair share of penalties.

Further they can do anything to any Vancouver player after the whistle while it’s still a game and nothing is called unless there is a flagrant retaliation by the Vancouver player. At that point both infractions are called.

Boston of course gets lots of penalties late, with the game decided to make it look like they might even be getting shafted in total calls. But that’s a familiar NHL pattern.

Even on a five-on-three against with the game over Vancouver gets very little protection. After David Krejci made it 5-1 with seven minutes gone in the third period of a game long over, Patrice Bergeron’s cross check from behind on Alex Burrows was a clear and blatant shot after play had stopped. When Burrows reacted, both were called instead of just the initial shot.

The officials just refuse to call the after the whistle stuff giving Boston license to poke and jab at will.

Even late it’s weird. Daniel Sedin is repeatedly punched in the face by Brad Marchand. The little Bruin finally gets a penalty because who cares at that point but Daniel gets a misconduct for catching.

“We’re just gonna keep doing that and take it and hope they’re going to call that stuff,” said Daniel. “We’re confident they will.”

Others may not be so sure.

And there are more pressing problems. Like what to do for a second line now that both Raymond and Mikael Samuelsson are down and Chris Higgins left the game for a bit in the third period before returning for a few more ineffective minutes.

Higgins was wiped out in a double hit in the second period, the second of which might have been construed as a penalty.

Jeff Tambellini likely draws in to the lineup but he hasn’t scored since Zdeno Chara was knee high to his shortest relative.

Im actually not as upset with the game tonite as most are. Im blaming this one on the hockey gods not wanting us to win. there were 6 or 7 chances where we should have put the puck in the net. it blows my mind how the bounces went so bad for us. And, Ill qualify this by saying Ive been a huge Luongo supporter while everyone has hated on him, he didnt help things by not making the saves he needed to to start the game.

I dont think many people expected us to win tonite.

Im calling it now, Vancouver wins Wednesday 1-0 by playing like they did in game 5. or Boston wins 1-0 with Vancouver playing like we did in game 5, but getting a real lucky bounce goal. Its going to be a real good game.

Well... the canucks had to come home regardless of a win or loss right? lol... hopefully the Bruins will be more tired. Let's pump some CO2 in the bruins change rooms :).

Vancouver establishments should not serve the Bruins players for their whole stay in Vancouver.... an eye for an eye... Go get mcdonald's for your pregame meal, Marchand.

The team is now 0-3 when I attend the viewing party games. I know I said I wouldn't go again but I didn't want to regret not going and not being able to truely soak everything in if they won. Fuck me..

Might as well trade all our high priced guys away and fill the roster to the cap minimum. The only thing that effects the outcome of the game is where you watch it.....well that and what some guy wears and where some other drunk smucks sit on the couch and with which hand he wipes his ass with during his ritual intermission goodluck shit.

I still don't understand why nothing was called on this when the ref was RIGHT THERE. Ppl say that Daniel should've punched back, but you know what, he would've gotten a penalty for punching back, or be sent off WITH Marcharnd to the box. Lots and lot of questionable calls AGAIN tonight but for this game I'm gonna have to put the blame squarely on Lu and the first 2 goals.

Marchand is just doing it better than Lapierre. If you guys have ever watched hockey other than when you're riding the bandwagon, you would know things like this. Players like this stand out in many finals series, the best in my memory being Claude Lemieux

And for the people whining about Marchand whacking Sedin at the end of the game, come on what do you expect? If the Sedins are not going to push back, they are going to do that every time! And if Marchand and Lappy switched teams, it would be Lappy doing it instead.

This.

When an opposing player is pissing off players and getting under the skin of the fans then they are doing their job exactly right.

You would hate these players if they played against you, but you'd love to have one on your own team. Admit it.

After watching 6 games in this series I can only assess the following:

- Thomas is God
- Luongo is a big baby that needs constant reassurance that he's good, or he'll just suck
- I don't know what a penalty is or isn't anymore
- Bruins are a bunch of dirty cheapshot players that hack and slash at will and get away with way too much
- We dive a little to much trying to draw penalties
- This is some pretty ugly hockey and not that entertaining to watch. No flow whatsoever, no back-and-forth, no trading chances, just ugly ugly hockey
- The media is a powerful propaganda machine that dictates how casual fans view a particular incident
- Predictions based on previous games are non-existent, nothing gets carried over to the next game... which leads to my last point:

- WE ARE GOING TO WIN GAME 7 BARRING ANOTHER LUONGO MELTDOWN

The problem is that the league has come out to say that they don't want any of this stuff going on after the whistle and any team that does it will get penalized. Well guess what, that's how Boston plays (not just Marcharnd) and so far I haven't seen them doing otherwise because nothing's being done to stop them.

and for the love of god, PLEASE fucking stop calling everyone else bandwagoners because you think you know better or have watched more hockey and that somehow makes your opinion more valid. There are fans here that have followed the Canucks for 10, 15, 20+ years so shut the fuck up about bandwagons.

and what do I expect of Daniel when he's getting whacked? Not retaliate so that the refs can call a penalty against whoever's punching him? If the Sedins push back, guess what, both of them will get sent off. So what the hell is he supposed to do then?

Harvey Specter

I know I'll get bashed for saying this but I don't think Thomas is GOD, I think the Canucks are making him out to look god like. Yes, you guys can throw all the stats at me but that won't change my opinion.

Bonjour43MA
06-13-2011, 11:06 PM
^^^ True, but he's stopping shots that he can't even see, whereas Lu's not stopping shots that he CAN see. That's your series right there.

We're making him look good, which means the players are thinking way too much and trying to make that perfect shot (look a how many shots missed the net and how long it takes for us to shoot the puck, trying to wait for that perfect moment).

Thomas will win the Conn Smyth for sure based on his performance in this series alone.

VooDood
06-13-2011, 11:06 PM
We got this. Thomas isn't impenetrable, if today proves anything, its that we can score on him, there were multiple chances for more than 5 goals, he's just another goalie, not a god, he's human. We come back game 7, and we win this.

Bullshit.....the moment Cooke and Ruutu left, everyone started saying shit about them and how they were classless and good riddance to them and they were notorious at after whistle scrums. It's a double standard when it comes to the canucks on players like this. Marchand taking liberty shots at Daniel like that shows absolutely no respect and the fact the refs did shit all just shows how biased refs are.
