At the end of the day, this is a business for the ownership and the Canucks is an investment. This year's playoffs are no different than any year. We've known this for some time now:

1) The regular season will be called differently than the playoffs
2) Superstars that don't goon it up won't be protected
3) You can't win the playoffs with any style played for 82 games during the regular season.

I think the Canucks played great tonight. It was Jonathan Quick that made the Kings win.

Really thought the game was shit. Schneider was great. The Canucks did nothing but throw soft shots at Quick. Hansen's post was the only real test.

I was at game 2 and the shots were something ridiculous ~48 for Canucks. All the fans in my section laughed at that stat. It could've been nothing more than 3 good shots. The rest could've been made by an ASHL goalie.

Gillis messed up on the Hodgson trade big time. I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, there's absolutely nothing that a Canuck fan can do to change the face of this team. I don't like what MG did either on that trade.

I can vent out online, call up Team 1040 and give comments on radio. At the end of the day, it does NOTHING to help change the make up of this team.

Wrong. 23 blocked shots..and the ones we did get were right into his crest, no rebounds. Quick had an easy night. Don't put Quick on a pedestal...the problem was our lack of creativity in getting good shots on net.

Well this sucks.

It feels like the Canucks were built on the assumption of the "new NHL" where teams win with skating and skill. Seems like they tried to play hard, draw penalties, and make the other team pay on the powerplay.

BUT refs are calling less penalties, and we've all seen the penalties for headshots, cheapshots, and all around goonery. Goal scoring is down on par with the dead puck era, and team are playing more defensively. I guess the Canucks didn't have the players and couldn't adjust to this kind of play.

I think Luongo needs to get traded for anything, I'd even take a 2nd rounder. Same goes for Ballard, Raymond, and Malholtra. Re-sign Salo and Pahlsson to lower cap hits if possible. And although Booth plays hard, he has no finish - he produces as much as Hansen for a 4 million cap hit so I'd get rid of him too. That's 15 million in cap space. Try and sign Parise and a depth defenseman and the team looks good to go for another run.

If the offence is lacking, which was prevalent from January onwards, they should've played a tougher system similar to NYR. North-South plays, Hits over SOG and create turn overs and panic from the opposing D men.
