Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but according to the Canucks FB, along with the news that Luongo is out (as mentioned before), Pinizzotto is out for the season after surgery.

I liked Pinizzotto, unproven, but showed flashes of being a great player.

He and Jamie Benn were going to be my 'breakout' picks.. well Benn has been doing awesome at least

I have Benn, Luke Adam, Burmistrov in my RS keeper pool.. never done a keeper pool before so I'm not sure how it works, but I assumed that picking guys about to break out in the next season or 2 is the way to go

lol same RS keeper is my first keeper, from my basic understanding is having some young guys is good because you most likely got them in the later rounds so if you decide to keep them you will be forfeiting a low end pick the next season but they will perform like a stud lol. I didn't really draft any young studs unless you count Edler and Chris Stewart .. 24 and 25 lol

I read somewhere that Duchene got to meet Sakic which boosted his confidence and motivated him even more

Who did Tavares get to look up to? Old man Doug Weight is alright but who else? GARTH SNOW? YASHIN?

No offense to the Avalanche and Duchene, but Tavares has done as much, with a lot less. Even if you take out Sakic from my post;

Hejduk/Statsny/Svatos/Wolski >>>>> Weight/Okposo/Bailey/Grabner

hell ive met a shit load of hockey players and talked to them, didnt make me better. svatos and wolski werent much either. would rather have grabner and okopso lol. hejduk isnt much anymore hes on the verge of retiring basically same as what weight was. stastny is decent but not like hes a huge superstar, over rated i think.

Observations from tonight.

1st Line: Sedins looked okay, great on a couple shifts. Hansen does not belong on the first line, the skill level just isn't there. Yes he got a goal, but it was an easy 2-on-1 tap in from one of the best passers in the league. Time for Burr to get back up here.

2nd Line: Higgins has been meh, he hasn't scored or done anything in quite a few games. Burr needs to be with the Sedins. Kesler is clearly trying but he just isn't there yet.

3rd Line: I think this line needs to get back to Hansen - Lapierre - Higgins. Booth and CoHo have developed some good chemistry and trying them with Kesler again might be a good look.

4th Line: Pretty much invisible, though they didn't play much. Volpatti hasn't looked very good.

Defense: Must must play better.

Schneider: Ehh... looked pretty bad tonight. Lack of goals or defense didn't really help either.

Sedin - Sedin - Burr
Booth - Kesler - Hodgson
Hansen - Lapierre - Higgins
Weise - Malhotra - Volpatti

Those are my proposed lines. Some winning consistency and scoring needs to happen, we can't solely rely on the PP, especially in games where we don't get very many.

Regular season isn't just about making the PO's; It's about where you stand in the PO's.

Although anything can happen in the post season, it's still widely accepted that the better the standing the better they make their odds for OVERALL success.

Franchise's that only care about "just making it" are fringe franchises that are banking on cinderella runs.

We won the presidents trophy last season and made it to game 7 of the SCF, a good accomplishment, but we still did not win though. We pretty much won everything possible in our 40 year history, except the only thing really that matters.

I'm really disappointed with the Canucks this season. There's no excuse to be a .500 team when you're nearing the 20 game mark. And quite honestly, none of players so far this season have impressed me and it seems like our so called "stars" pick and choose what games they want to show up for. With the amount of talent and experience the Canucks have, there's no excuse for going on 2 game winning streaks and getting blown out in the next 2 games.

This team needs to wake up before it's too late and we're basically fighting for the last playoff spot.

I'm not panicking at all.. I mean, the west conference is tight right now anyway so it's not like anyone is pulling away... we are 4 pts behind minnesota for the division....

Honestly, I don't even care for another Northwest trophy or whatever.. I just want to see the canucks win the cup...

+1. Not in panic mode even though the Canucks are playing .500 or below hockey. It's only Movember. Having said that, the team has to start playing with some consistency, and get a win streak going. You can't just flip a switch in January to play hard to make the playoffs.

Jeff Carter has NOT asked for a trade (http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/17/jeff-carter-has-not-asked-for-a-trade-yet/)

"Forward of the Columbus Blue Jackets Jeff Carter would have already asked to be traded. The Blue Jackets had acquired the services of Carter of the Philadelphia Flyers in the month of June, giving back Jakub Voracek and two draft picks. The Flyers were then selected Sean Couturier and Nick Cousins. Carter garnered only three assists in just seven games with his new team after being bothered by an injured foot. * For details, see Renaud's blog Lavoie"

Hearing Schneider for Carter?

Please don't...

Schneider was gonna be gone eventually we all knew this. If the opportunity is right why not?

Carter is a cancer to any locker room. Philly got rid of him for a reason, and look at what happened in Columbus this season.

Even if Carter was not on CBJ, they would still suck!

They would still suck, but I don't think they would be a complete disaster

If a team trades away their franchise player without warning, I don't know if I want that guy on my team

That being said, I hear nothing but good things about the Canucks locker room, so maybe it would be for the better? Then again, the partiers don't seem to do so well in Vancouver...

I don't really see the trade happening anyways. We JUST got booth. So unless we can unload his $4M salary, not happening. Considering Carter is a $5M hit, so we would need to package a bunch of players out. This would just be band aid fixe right now anyways, our core players needs to be better.

The Great One would have preferred to be a Leaf for $3M instead of a Canuck for $8M.

Cox: Gretzky contacted to join bid for Leafs - thestar.com (http://www.thestar.com/article/1088902--cox-gretzky-contacted-to-join-bid-for-leafs)

In 1996, Gretzky was a 35-year-old free agent, and set up an arrangement with then Leaf GM Cliff Fletcher to leave St. Louis and join the Leafs.

“We were talking about something between $2 million and $3 million a season,” Gretzky told Gord Stellick for the book ’67: The Maple Leafs, Their Sensational Victory and the End of An Empire, published in 2004.

“And you know, the ridiculous part is that Vancouver was offering me $8 million a season. But I wanted to be a Leaf in the worst way. I told Cliff, ‘I’ll do whatever it takes to make it work. You can defer my salary for 25 years if you have to. Whatever it takes to get the deal done.’”

Ultimately, partly because Stavro was forced to pay millions to the charities named in Harold Ballard’s will, the Leafs declined to sign Gretzky, who joined the New York Rangers, instead.

“(Fletcher) said he couldn’t get the deal approved,” said Gretzky, who said he was convinced at the time he was going to play for the Leafs. “Oh, definitely. I thought that way for a few weeks.”

I thought the reason why Gretzky didnt wanna play for us was because the canucks callled gretzky in the middle of the

I don't know if I will call it just yet because he's been injured for most of the season and with a new team.

If he really is a cancer then screw it. I dun care how good he is.

I was sick of the Bertuzzi locker room stuff and was glad it was over when he got traded. Don't wanna hear about that stuff no more.

I always hear team 1040 talk about how Bert was a cancer in the locker room, but I never heard what he did.

Just like how Pat Quinn screwed Bure, but no one every talks about what it was that was done.

I heard Bert and Nazzy and maybe others of the core would keep to themselves most of the time.

Also some of the players didn't get along with him.

I remember that defenceman we had at the time tell some reporters....forgot his name but I think he wore #26.

Contract stuff. They kept underpaying him throughout his time here or something.

It was in his book I think. I remember reading about it in detail online.

they try to rip bure off because he was a kid... pavel didnt like to be looked down upon, he knows and the people knows he is the best player in the NHL at the time but canucks didnt agree with him.

seems like the canucks are a busniess team more than anything, if we dont win the cup with the sedins and this core kiss your chances of a stanley cup good bye in vancouver :fuckthatshit:

I dunno. With Aquilini as the owner now there seems to be even more emphasis and commitment on winning.

This seems to be the case.

Aquaman is dumping loads more money in scouting and development of players. As specially with Gillis at the helm, I expect good things. You hear about nutrition specialists, sleep specialists and the renovated Canucks room. All of this add together to making a good environment where players can thrive.

I would like to put an emphasis on scouting that has dramatically improved over the past few years. Although it is still a little too early to tell but it seems as though we are drafting more quality players.

Remember Patrick White? Yeah, where's he at?

I think most of us heard how much of a cancer Carter is but as a comparison, look at what we've accomplished with Lappy. I'm sure a lot of us were :suspicious: when we got Lappy and he's done well for us. I'm not saying we should absolutely trade for Carter but who knows what might happen if he were to play here.

The Stars ownership team he heads up includes a group of former and current NHL players such as Shane Doan, Mark Recchi, Jarome Iginla and Darryl Sydor.

Any conflict of interest there that Shane Doan and Jarome Iginla are current players for other teams?

I think you got the cancer term mixed up. Carter is a cancer on the team in that he parties too much and creates a riff in the locker room.

Lappy is a hated player by the other team because he plays that annoying weasely role as a 4th liner. He's doing his job to perfection. There isn't anything about him being a bad teammate and someone that hurts the chemistry on a team.

i know the difference. i was just making a somewhat similar comparison :)

lappy has a pretty bad reputation amongst refs as a diver, yapper and shit disturber. but yes, in terms of team chemistry, lappy > carter for sure.

Some of you guys are getting the term "locker room cancer" wrong.

I remember reading an article darthchilli? posted and it talked about how Bertuzzi and Naslund had their own cliques and everyone else had theirs.

Henrik confirmed it and mentioned how today's team is all one group. Before practice they talked to together, and after they went out together as a group. This never happened during the Naslund/Bert era

Even Higgins and Lappy said when they arrived here everyone on the team welcomed them both to open arms, no other team was like that Higgins said
