Oh, well it sounded like he was saying 'they' to refer to an organized group of writers under "Bleacher Report" and my point was simply to explain to him, and others, that it's just a site for any amateurs to go and write anything they want and call it an 'article.'

As ugly as Dustin Brown might be, he's an early contender for the Conn Smythe. 1 GWG, a couple shorties and making big hits, doing it all. The Kings are making this a very good playoff run. If they get out of the 2nd round in 5 games or under, they are doing what you need for a long run. Playing less games, having little injuries could take them to the final healthy. If they win the cup, they'd be the first team since the Ducks to do it in that time zone.

I agree, although Quick will give him a run for his money. Kings only had 5 shots in the last 2 periods last night lol... Now that's some defensive hockey!
One good plan was to take out the other team's #1 dman!

Blues definately missing Pietrangelo.
How about the Caps defence? Opening faceoff of yesterday's game: They lose the faceoff and then just drop back. Three guys along the blue line one staggered a little in front, a 1-1-3 that looks more like a 1-4 as they skate back. Brutal to watch.

Well in Radulov's case I am not surprised that he'd get benched, that's for sure!
No Kovie for the Devils either :(
From puck daddy:
"Per a source, Radulov and Kostitsyn engaged in some extra curricular activities on Saturday night that are generally frowned upon for the healthy and game-readiness for professional athletes. Let's call it a "curfew violation" until officially noted otherwise."
So they were out partying on the weekend before a playoff game they were getting killed by the underdogs in... smart!
So the question is, if they squeak out a win do they play in game 4?

There are still a lot of ignorant fans on many NHL message boards always saying no free agent would want to sign and live in Phoenix or be traded there etc... Even morons on Team 1040 where cracking jokes about that as recent as last month. From my experience, the most desired cities to play/live in for NHLers are Tampa, Miami, LA, Phoenix and NY.
So it gets worse, apparently Rads and AK where spotted at a Scottsdale hotspot at 4am, thats almost 45 mins from where the team hotel was, so by the time they got back to hotel/sleep, likely way past 5am maybe even 6am on the eve of a playoff game hahaha wtf

Rent a house/mansion in Scottsdale, plan some activities and let stupidness ensue. From what I've heard, the Troon area is pretty steller (20 mins from downtown Scottsdale. Golfing, ATVing, and night scene. Some places will even provide the food and barbecue.

I hope the Canucks make a trade so the sports media have better shit to write about than this.
Gretzky on Canucks involvement rumour: "Nothing to it at all" (http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Gretzky+Canucks+involvement+rumour+Nothing/6549304/story.html)
There are loads of rumours about Wayne Gretzky and Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini having dinner together when the Canucks and Kings were playing in Los Angeles about two weeks ago, and that’s certainly true.
But apparently there isn’t a whole lot to be read into it.
According to the Great One, the Aquilini family’s real estate broker in California has been a longtime friend of Gretzky’s, some 15 years now, and those two happened to be speaking with each other the very day that Francesco was there. They ended up having dinner together that night.
“Honestly, there was nothing to it at all, just four or five guys having dinner,” said Gretzky by email Tuesday afternoon.
Gretzky has said that one day he will think about getting back into hockey, and there was immediately speculation that he may have chosen Vancouver as a possible landing spot for activity in some capacity. But it turns out there isn’t a whole lot to any of the rumours that may be making the rounds.

Don't sell Pierre McGuire short. He's a smart guy. He's got a couple of Stanley Cup rings. I wouldn't doubt that he gets a GM job sometime in the next few years. Of the three listed, I think he's the longest shot as well. McGuire is a smart guy but an owner would have to take a pretty big risk going with a media personality that hasn't worked in hockey since the mid-90s and has never been a general manager compared to two guys that have experience building very good teams.

Pierre McGuiere apparently has turned down a couple coach and GM jobs over the years because he wants to stay close to his family. I believe he lives in upstate NY like Buffalo or somewhere. Montreal wouldn't be a stretch to fit with that.

Low risk signing and 1 year why not since Flames got to rebuild anyways so won't really need the cap room., see if he'll work out and a "free" asset.
Just not sold on these supposedly best players not in NHL that will become regulars in NHL like Fabian Brunnstrom and Jiri Dopita. Only player overseas I'm interested in seeing back in the NHL is Alexei Morozov, but that ship has sailed.

Too much BS with KHL players. They have egos and don't think too much of the NHL and have no loyalty to the team that signs them. I'm sure there's some hidden gems in the KHL waiting to be discovered but it's way too risky to bring a player over.

-more speculation from the media that Vigneault may not return to coach the team. The interesting point in McIntyre's article is that AV might choose to quit and apply for the Montreal coaching position instead of Gillis firing the coach.
This information from the article caught my attention:
The fact Francesco Aquilini has not even met with general manager Mike Gillis yet, 11 days after the Canucks were bounced by the Kings, to talk about Vigneault, that talks aren’t even scheduled for this week, doesn’t seem to make Vigneault’s future secure with the club.

Gillis and AV both have 1 year left on their contracts. The media have nothing to report on so they speculate on what may or may not happen.
Mike Gillis and Francesco Aquilini were originally supposed to meet today, and it's expected the Canucks GM will tell his owner he does not want to change coaches. There's a lot of speculation that Alain Vigneault is a goner because he left town without talking to the media. It's more likely he didn't want to talk without knowing for sure and didn't want to wait almost two weeks for that discussion to happen.
Who is available that is better than AV? Gillis will not make the change unless that person exists. It's not his way. Would also guess that the meeting between owner and GM was delayed because Aquilini would be very emotional after the first-round loss and that is not the time to make important decisions.
From Elliot Friedman's blog.
AV is a great coach and now had some great playoff experience. There are no Mike Babcocks or Bowman's around to hire.

Vancouver seriously needs another major sports team because the sports media in this city have nothing to report once the hockey season is over locally.
And I find fans, media and now it seems like (if the rumors are true) the owners might be going a bit overboard after a first round elimination which most teams would consider a bump in the road in terms of their long term plan. I don't see the Bruins or Pens going ape shit and dumping their coach and players, Vancouver on the other hand is ready to fire one the best coaches in the league over the past few seasons, getting rid of their number one goalie and god knows what else is in store.

The sports media in Vancouver are so jaded from when the Grizzlies were here. When you listen to people like BMac on the team 1040, they rip into how basketball players were here in Vancouver. Bad interviews, not wanting to do interviews or play in Canada, and all that BS baggage that came with it.

Although I do not know the Canucks owner personally, I can tell from some observations of Aquilini that this guy is pretty competitive in nature.
Perhaps he wants to excel in everything in his life. Example? When he hired Mike Gillis a few years back, I saw Aquilini in the Steve Nash gym downtown on a Canucks game night. I heard Mark Cuban likes to do some cardio on the day of a Dallas Mavericks game, but what I saw from Aquilini's workout was amazing.
The guy was doing some squats with some heavy kettle balls, forty five pounds, for each leg, if I remember correctly. That's pretty good for a guy that had a big belly. :)
He was working out pretty hard while one of his brothers, Paolo, was giving him the personal trainer like pep talk "Come on bro, one more set".
I overheard him say that he wanted to get into the best shape of his life.
Therefore, it's not surprising that the Canucks owner has the drive, the competitive nature to win above all else. Perhaps his emotions boiled over in that talk with Vigneault after the playoffs.
Here's a kettle ball workout if you're wondering what the heck it is:

That's why it's an over inflated accomplishment. It's pretty much an automatic win when you're the only playoff team, and only team with a better than .500 win% in a division :lawl:
EDIT I should say that winning the division is a given, the presidents cup takes SOME effort.. but they certainly have it easier than other teams, having to play scrubs like the Oilers all the time.

No it wouldn't have. Had we won last year and then suddenly go on a 10 year funk, the fanbase would still have that everlasting memory of "that one time."
It's funny how sentimental this board has gotten with Luongo and Alain Vigneault all of a sudden. What made people think that the 1 great run we had last year is the team's performance standard? And not the 3 or 4 years surrounding that where we would get bounced by the same team twice over and the LA Kings
(yes they're a good team but don't tell me we didn't have the personell, the skill, the talent to overcome them and should've been a better team). I mean, just look at the 2nd to the last game of the season where we had a chance at the President's Trophy by going against Calgary. Losing to a team who was well out of play off contention and had absolutely nothing to play were well enough indications that this team has latent problems.

No, this city would not accept a 10 year slump after I cup winning year. Although I agree with a lot of your points, and what you said above is far fetched. So what your saying is if we won the cup last year you would be content if we didn't make the playoffs this year?

We have the Vancouver Whitecaps which are currently enjoying a winning record in only their 2nd year in Major League Soccer.
Tickets are cheaper, the game is more accessible, and the atmosphere is fan-driven. The 'Caps also feature a world-class back in YP Lee (EPL and World Cup) and another world-class mid-fielder is coming in June, Barry Robson (UEFA Champions League.)

Unfortunately, this town is a Canucks town. :troll:
Please don't use "world-class" for any MLS player. Barry Robson is coming from a team that plays in England's 2nd tier league. It's like the AHL to the NHL.

Thumbs up to Nashville coach Barry Trotz for making the right decision for sitting out Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn for game 4. A bunch of selfish Russians who put their own partying ahead of their team mates.
Team mates were sleeping, resting up for game 3 while Dumb and Dumber were partying it up at a Scottsdale club until 4am.
If the coach allowed those two clowns to play game 4, it might have affected team morale in the locker room.
Radulov is one of the laziest forwards that I've ever seen in terms of back checking. He won't play the 2 way game.

And the racial profiling continues.
Have you played with your fellow Canadians? Or hockey at all? Don't you think Canadians are just as susceptible to that conviction? both in the recreational level all the way to professional level? Or does that not jive well with how Canadians view their image of their own hockey players?
FACT: Canadians are among the most douchiest hockey players I've ever played around the world; just because they feel they have a certain sense of entitlement towards the sport. And its fans like you that reinforce that.

And you think Canadians in the NHL don't coast themselves? For as much Canadian greats we've had in the league... how much in relation are those Canadians who make up the fringe, barely hanging onto a roster spot, or are quick to lose theirs?

Ovechkin delivered a potentially suspension-worthy check on Dan Girardi.
Many onlookers believed that Ovechkin left his feet while making the hit. Reports are mixed on Girardi's head being the principal point of contact, though. Ovechkin received a two-minute minor penalty for his hit.

When you hit someone like that your feet will leave the ground its just how you react. But it looks like he purposely tried to launch off his right leg into the guy.. Def not suspension worthy IMO. Guy got back up hardly looked dazed by the hit..

Also looked like Girardi was trying to make a hit/bracing himself for it. No reason that would be suspendable.
