I think everyone in the city has been rooting for the kid since he was drafted. It's too bad he hasn't developed as quickly as we hoped but everyone wants success for the guy.

At the same time, this is probably his year to step it up. He hasn't lived up to his 10th overall pick and he needs to. I don't know if he'll get another opportunity as good as this to play 2nd line center with decent linemates with Henrik, Kesler and Malhotra locking up 1-3 center for the next two years at least.

Good call, had Hall kept his head down and kept going, he would have been destroyed by Edler's shoulder, the way Edler usually explodes up and back in his hits. Hall's head was up and he saw what was going to happen and tried to duck out of it but cutting out of the corner but didn't have enough time/space. In doing so, he put his own head into a vulnerable position after Edler had started the motion of his thunderous destruction.

I also took exception to the call on Oreo's solid hit on Nugent-Hopkins. Refs called a charge, but Oreo clearly glided in and caught the kid with his head down on a clean hit. RNH acknowledged not looking up later on too.

The only time I might take Ehrhoff over Kessel is if +/- was a factor or blocked shots or something like that. Kessel now has Lupul on his wing and Connolly feeding him the puck. Thats a huge upgrade over is 10/11 linemates even if Connolly misses a chunk of the season due to injury.

It is up to Shaw to know coming technologies and witch devices will best suit their customers needs. They knew I was interested in HD sports since I ordered their HD sports package when I bought my system. Not hard to phathom that someone in Canada who orders a sports package might be interested in hockey. They could have convinced me to buy the mpeg4 compatible box and then made their profit on my ordering Center Ice down the road. Instead they sold me an obsolete HD box and then expect me to pony up another $300-$400 a year and a half later for the box I should have had all along in order to get Center Ice. To me, thats a greedy move for short term profit. Selling me the right box and getting me paying monthly for Center Ice would have made them more money for them in the long run.

Oreo signed a 2 way contract. You are confusing real life NHL waivers and EA Sports NHL video game waiver rules. In the real life, it doesn't matter if a player is on a one or two way contract, waiver requirements are determined by # of games played and age.

Gillis seems to be high on Weise as the Canucks tried to trade for him last year.

I haven't seen much of Weise but at least he would still drop the gloves. Remember when Marchand clotheslined Erhroff then threw a hipcheck on Daniel? Oreo was on the ice. Sure Ballard got to Marchand first but when McQuaid went after Erhroff (who was injured), Oreo did squat.

Even in the last preseason game, after Oreo hit RNH, it was Lapierre that had to stand up for him against Theo Peckham.

Weise has better hockey IQ and has more offensive upside while Oreo is the better skater. But what it comes down to is that I think Gillis and AV wanted someone who would stick up for their teammates. Oreo can be a legit NHLer but he needs to realize he has to do what it takes consistently to play in the big leagues.

hoff was strictly a points guy for us. our team overall hasn't went down by much but also hasnt improved much either. losing torres, glass and hoff (prob more but i dont remember atm) isn't a big change. we replaced them with weise, sturm, and depending on whether or not coho stays in the lineup, we'll have him too.

i'm not sure how the future line up will look once everyone is healthy

sedins + burr
kes + ray + hig
sammy + coho + hansen
manny + lappy + sturm

defense is like...

salo + edler
hammer + juice
ballard + alberts/rome/tanev

i guess weise will probably take over coho's spot if he doesn't perform well enough. volpatti and ebbett will probably get sent down pretty soon.

im just throwing this out there, not too sure.
