My dream sled is a manual swapped 458. But it's like 450k for a good one, and then another 200k for a well done swap, and you are effectively taking a huge gamble on resale with a car like that. My take is more than likely you take a loss on resale once you manual swap, and most likely get put on Ferrari's naughty list (not that I care since I probably won't buy a new Ferrari)

I looked at an '04 Gallardo 6pd during the VID years for shits and giggles and it felt remarkably cheap. They're cars that are stuck between being classically analog like the F355 and modern enough to have amenities you've come to expect. It felt like Audi's first car they made under the Lambo name and they weren't really sure what the market expected from it. Don't get me wrong it was nice but not the "wow this is classy/exotic/classic" one is probably going for, it just felt like an old car. I too went down the rabbit hole of manual conversions for older machines.

Then I realized I'd forgotten about some cool cars that have been generally forgotten about: older Aston's. I'm pursuing different things but the dream would be an early DBS with the 6L V12 6spd at just 3400lbs. With a tune, intake, cat delete and X-pipe muffler they push 600hp and sound like a Zonda. Some modern wheels/tires and some stance work and that's a car that will look and sound amazing forever with that timeless Bond style.

I called the passport office due to an error with my son's passport and they agreed to rush a new passport at no charge, provided I bring them new photos.

That same day I went down to Sinclair Centre with the new photos. I arrived early afternoon, back when lineups were still quite long.

It was already jammed and they were telling people that if they decided to stay and wait, there would be no guarantee they'd be seen before end of day.

I had to wait about 45 mins for the first pre-screen desk. I explained the situation and they said yes sir, no problem and handed me a purple ticket. It was literally one of those 50/50 draw raffle tickets you can buy at Staples.

I took the purple ticket to the next room and gave it to an agent. As soon as they saw it they were like, no problem sir, and sent me to the main waiting room.

Not even 2 mins after I sat down, they called my number lol.

You should have seen the faces of all the other people who had been waiting for hours hahaha.

In that particular industry, many of the workers are "lifers" and are basically their jobs. They see themselves as the hardest workers, and many of them were 'ard as nails. 16 hours out in the rain and cold and they'd show up for their next shift in 8 hours ready to go. Tough people.

Well, when the lockdowns happened, those people suddenly lost who they were, and at least 2 of the workers suicided or overdosed in the first month because they lost their purpose in life. As someone who spoke to many of the workers every day, I wonder if I should have done more to reach out, because one of the deaths hit me really hard as the woman was such a nice person and she had been clean from drugs for 10+ years because she threw herself into work and fitness, but then, no work, and the gyms were closed... isolation sets in and...

The entire response to COVID was fucking retarded and, yet, nobody will ever go to jail for it. None of the politicians in Canada even ever talk about a public investigation into the response, the hows, and the whys.

Also, when I got back to work right before the vaccine mandated kicked in that got me fired, I did notice that sick days, post-vaccination, were up like 10%-15%, since I was in charge of that. People got sicker after the shots were rolled out, and workers told me about how the shots themselves knocked them on their ass for days: rashes, dizzy spells, other issues.

3. Another guy I knew developed fainting issues from his 2nd shot and had to be hospitalized

A few days later, I sat back down at my computer, the same routine, the same easy money, 10k a month for maybe a few hours of work. But something chewed at me. A deep, stalking-in-the-shadows feeling that the cash itself carried a kind of rot, like it came from a world that fed on something dark. Then, through sheer luck, my resume found its way to the right people, and I landed back in Vancouver. Got a job at a "prestigious" construction company, where I learned that corporate life was just high school with more pettiness and bigger tits. A zoo of horny women hen-pecking each other while shitting on the workers. Life was office politics and friendly backstabs. I saw things that could fill a book on how witches are real. Workers tossed aside like safety cones that lost their glow.

But on the road leading up to that shitshow, right before I started that job, right before I stepped into that next chapter of my life, I had a moment. A real fucking moment.

I was on my way to pick up my daughter, driving through the middle of nowhere in Maple Ridge. Funny you post this, I dropped my GF at the airport on Sunday and stopped by LA Chicken, as it's been a long time since I've been there.

I ask the cranky Asian dude "Can I get 4 piece, but I want 4 thighs, I pay extra" he gives me an annoyed face and goes "No, it's 2 thighs, 2 legs", I go "Ok, but I want 4 thighs, I pay extra" he rolls his eyes and asks what sides I want. I got there about 08:05 and there was a long queue across the floor already
A lady came out to do a pre-screen at 08:09 and separated out the people who were there for pick-up only, and the people who were in the wrong line up for Service Canada.
They opened at 08:30 and all in all, i was done three renewals at 09:15.

So passport office was supposed to be up to 10 business day turnaround (Sinclair Ctr, Richmond, etc) and Service Canada up to 20 business day turnaround (as far as i understood)

The lady at the desk told me it should be mailed out via Xpresspost latest 18th Mar.

I had (vague) plans to go to Legoland in San Diego, as well as going to Hawaii. Plus a whole bunch of casual driving Trader Joe runs etc. But all of that is going up in smoke now.

The primary reason for cancelling those plans is of course political. The other part that I'm trying to convince myself of is the poor exchange rate. But I don't really have to dig deep, and I know the exchange rate reason isn't why I am cancelling the US vacation plans.

On the other hand, I will openly admit that I can't completely give up on buying US produce. Take oranges for example -- the Australian / Chinese / Egyptian ones just aren't anywhere nearly as good. And I'm sure some of the other fresh produce I bought aren't all coming from Mexico either. But when there are viable alternatives, I will gladly buy the non-US items, even if they are slightly more expensive.

Considering the current political environment, the short answer (to me and I'm sure the vast majority of us) is yes, it would be unpatriotic to choose to go there right now. If you had booked this long time ago, you'd at least have that as a bit of an excuse. Even then, there are plenty of Canadians on the news saying they've cancelled their plans even though it cost them thousands doing so. Travel agents have confirmed such details too. End of the day, it's still your choice to do as you please but I would encourage you to seek out other destinations.

Ya it's for old white people and fags, but I'm fairly young and I've gone there a number of times with girlfriends. Before our dollar was total shit, it wasn't a bad spot for a quick vacation.

It's always warm, never rains, so like Phoenix, you're guaranteed good weather. Back in the 2010s it was fairly cheap in terms of accommodation (good resort deals), food and cocktails we cheap too. They have some good Tiki bar spots there, Joshua Tree, Thousand Palms are good for some hikes, great restaurants.

It's pretty much one of the quicker flights for an easy winter chill out in the sun. You're only a couple hours from LA too, so we'd usually do one drive to see some comedy at The Store, or hit up a Lakers game when staying there.

The drive back is great at 2AM, no ones on the highway, you can fucking rip it back to Palm Springs pretty fast.

Multiple pools, lazy river, water slides, etc. Also, the flights were only 3h, which is awesome when flying with kids.

I'm a sucker for a warm climate that has a nice hotel and great amenities. With the kids being younger, all-inclusives are typically the easiest. We've done Mexico and Hawaii a bunch over the years, so I wanted to look at other options.

I guess it'll be Mexico exclusively for the next four years... ugh. Poor us, lol.

If anything Altitude sickness affects older people worse. And with anything else it just takes acclimatization, taking it easy, drinking lots of water, etc.

But no I'd say unless your kids are older and adventurous I'd probably head to the one in Mexico first.

I got pulled into that secondary room at YVR when I went down for some training before I got my work visa. In the end it was fine but a bit stressy when you have to make a connection and have no clue how long it'll be.

Even with the visa I had to be careful with my wording and they'd get a bit grumpy because they didn't really understand what my job was. Some of them are chill and didn't even speak to me and others were so over the top it was like they truly believed that every single person wants to go work illegally and they're Americas last line of defense against it. Cue the eagle screech (that's actually a red tailed hawk) and the flag flapping magestically in the background.

If you go down without clearing customs here you need to be even more careful at the generic customs in US airports. They're not as used to Canadians and a lot more serious about any food you might be bringing down so be very careful what you pack.

For families looking for sunshine, Palm Springs is appealing because it's probably the cheapest/shortest flight to a sunny destination in the winter with family-friendly activities (pools, resorts etc).

The lady who got detained in Mexico was a moron based on what I read on various places.

She had a TN visa but the US revoked it and told her she needed to go to a consulate.

Instead, she went to Mexico and tried to enter the US there by applying at the border.

Even her lawyer told her that was a bad idea.

They refused her entry, and Mexico refused her entry as well, so she was essentially processed for deportation back to Canada.

I'm sure she went through hell and back while being held for deportation, when it comes to US customs and border, FAFO.

I was looking at direct flight destinations with a resort-style hotel and Palm Springs popped into my radar. They have a hotel called, "Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas" which seems to have everything. Multiple pools, lazy river, water slides, etc. Also, the flights were only 3h, which is awesome when flying with kids.



My colleague (not white....but his wife is white lol) is there right now with family and 3 kids.

Challenger is also largely unchanged since 2008.
All they did was change the interior in 2015 and add a supercharger.

Durango is a LOT of fleet purchase.
Solid car, it's an ML/GL underneath with a better transmission, simpler infotainment, and a HEMI.
Most of my German car guy buds are pretty happy with the rentals they've had.

They are bringing the HEMI 5.7 and 6.4 back for higher end Jeeps, lower end RAM, and the Challenger next year.

RAM fucked up - buyer skepticism was confirmed when cooling issues lowered Hurricane tow ratings even though they have more power/torque.

2026 will fix that with RAM 1500 getting Supercharged 6.2, 5.7, and now the 6.4 for first time.
2500/3500 trucks will get the ZF8 for the first time (really big deal btw).
2027 Dodge Charger will get the Hellcat motor as a halo, which will have 2/4 door variants along with AWD.

When the mid-size Cherokee launches, Grand Cherokee and L variants will drop V6 for an updated 2.0T and 4XE.

My buddy got tariffed coming back into Canada. They added 25% tariff and taxed him only on the 25% that was tariffed.

So if his item was $100, he paid $25 tariff and then paid tax on the $25.
