Diamond rings? Gold bars?
Fuckin ell, I just gave my girlfriend this ring and it made her lifetime:
https://live.staticflickr.com/4132/4843077008_ffc67a27e2_b.jpg
Then she wanted my main course
That makes no sense.
He could have just invested the $35k over 20 years had the same result if not better.
And what's anyone supposed to do with a gold bar? Take it out and rub it / polish it? Does she pull it out to show her friends when they come over? Did they take engagement pictures with the gold bar in both their hands?
Also no humble brag there at all that people were casually blowing $30k on engagement rings 20 years ago lol
It's more of a symbol than anything else. The very same reason why Asian (Chinese and Indian) tend to get gold chains, rings and jewelry made out of gold for wedding, newborn and whatever. IYKYK.
I wish I could afford something like that when I got married. My proposal ring was a plastic ring from Superstore (I shit you not). The only real splurge we had at our wedding was that we did host the wedding at a 5-star resort in a small town that was paid between our parents. But other than that, it was trying to put all the money into investment properties and my wife's study for a better future.
Wife kept the plastic ring all this time in the safe. When we thought we kinda made it, when she got a very decent position and my investment properties were working better than I could ever hoped, I threw in the idea to take that plastic ring and have one custom-made with the real thing... pink diamond and all. But wife just said why bother, she already got the ring.

As early as June, BC Hydro is changing the way they charge for electricity usage.

This is so cool. I’ll have to find the remote charging remote that came with my EV. Dishes and laundry will be done off peak hours. I already use my PVR to record shit. I’ll watch them at off peak hours. Televisions, at least they used to be, one of the highest electricity hogs. Then again, probably not Jbol.
Discount vs surcharge……… -5% or +5%. If I read it correctly
Still two tier system in place. If EV charging can be taken out of the equation, I’d be all over that.

Metrotown superstore. I still remember that we were discussing how to make our budget work between her master degree tuition and my investment property that we wanted to buy, and I was like, there’s a way to make it work…
And we picked the ring right there. $19.99. When I told my friend about it, they were all like, I can’t believe you pulled that off. :fuckthatshit:

Discount vs surcharge……… -5% or +5%. If I read it correctly
Electricity used between 11pm to 7am is charged at 5cents per kWh less than standard rate
Electricity used between 7am to 4pm and 9pm to 11pm is charged at standard rate
Electricity used between 4pm to 9pm is charged at 5cents per kWh more than standard rate
The two tier rates still apply.
IMO this is really only useful for people with EV's that can schedule charging for overnight.
For the rest of us, the savings of doing laundry overnight is barely worth mentioning, especially if you're primary cooking means is an electric oven where you'll be paying more to cook your food from 4-9.
And for those of us with electric heating sources, it makes even less sense. Can't turn heat off.
I know you have an EV, but those who don't this makes absolutely no sense.

What ? He doesn’t hoard gold like every other China menz ? There’s a good chance this is a good investment since it’s limited to 150.
Plus isnt gold like 3300 bucks a ounce right now anyways? x5 ounces and youre doing pretty good.
Better if he adds a chain and wears it around his neck.
He isn’t into gold or jewelry. The only thing I’m aware of are 4 one once gold plate for each of his grandkids and some bracelet and necklaces that he got for my mom. Used to have some gold coins, but I no longer see them in the bank safe at least last time I was there.
His wine and spirits collection is easily more valuable than all that combined since dad took an extra insurance policy on those.

Thanks for the recommendation. Out of curiosity, I'll get a quote from BBQ B Clean (they steam clean) but my Weber only cost around $1000 new, so $400 does seem a bit high. The Vancouver BBQ Boys website says $175 which seems pretty reasonable given the work they do.
Just to follow up on this, BBQ B Clean got back to me with the following:
We charge on time ....plus gst
4.5 hrs is $415, 4hrs is $380, 3.5 is $345, 3 hours is $310, 2.5 is $275, 2 hours is $240 - it all depends on how dirty the bbq is, when was the last professional clean, what is cooked upon them, how big they are, how often used etc etc - lots of variables.
A Weber 3 burner usually takes around 3.5-4.5 hours.
I might just splurge and get it deep cleaned now (after 9 years), then use BBQ Boys maybe on an annual basis after.

Paying $400 to clean a bbq just seems insane.
I do an annual maintenance on my Napoleon, all it takes is a shop vac to get the crusty bits out of the fire box, some compressed air to blow out the burners, and wipe the exterior down with some degreaser/bbq cleaner. Takes me all of like an hour.
i mean how clean does a bbq have to be? those prices sound like they are trying to scrub it to look like it's brand new. cook a few times on it and it's going to look used again. it's not a classic car, it's a bbq.
Great68
05-01-2024, 10:34 AM
Yeah I mean as long as the burners aren't clogged, it's not like some grease staining in the firebox is going to affect how the thing cooks.
mikemhg
05-01-2024, 10:58 AM
Exactly, plus the bits that get carbonized (burner covers for example) are hella cheap to replace.
If you clean it out at the beginning of every season, and make sure you run your burners for a bit after cooking, you shouldn't need to hire cleaners for your BBQ.
Voila, good as new.

Throw the idea of spending 1k on a ring instead, and the other 5k on a vacation, and see how she responds. If your already doing a honeymoon or whatever, then tell her you will put 5k towards the next vacation
The above obviously depends on your net worth / income as well, hehe could throw 50k at a ring and not even blink
I personally think rings are a waste of money, at least the vacation is something both of you can enjoy together
I'm in the same boat, I'm a vacation guy. I'd rather spend the money towards a trip to Bora Bora or Maldives, something we'll ball out on.
I fundamentally hate the idea of spending thousands of dollars on an infinite resource such as a diamond, it's one of the stupidest things we've been gaslit into purchasing as a means to profess our love for someone.

I hope your bbq is like $2500 if you’re spending $400 to have it cleaned lol
I just grab a drywall putty knife for $8 from HD, at the end of each year scrape everything out the bottom, wipe the inside and burners down, run the bbq for 10 minutes, good for another season

The beautiful thing about the Napoleons (at least the Prestige series that I have) is that the entire bottom of the firebox is a removable stainless steel tray that you can pull out. Makes cleaning it super easy.
what if the inside has mold growing, do you just soap and water and let it burn for a while or is there more to it?

It really depends on how dirty it is and how much time you have. When I hired the college kid I hadn't cleaned mine in years and couldn't be bothered doing it myself with a new baby at the time. He did a way better job that I would have and did it twice as fast as I could have done it.
Now that it's clean I've been able to keep up with maintenance on it each year - it helps that I have 4 BBQs now so nothing gets used that much anymore. The hardest one for me to clean nowadays is my Weber kettle where I cook a lot of fatty stuff at high heat so the bowl is pretty greasy after a season of grilling. That one needs a good paint scraper each season.

Since I bought a weber charcoal kettle 2 years ago I haven't fired up my propane Broil King. I wanna sell it this year but not looking forward to cleaning it lol.
i find that all avocados are the same thing. some are bigger some are smaller, but if the price seems reasonable then i've never seen a diff in quality that was noticeable in the final dish. the main thing is nurturing them to ripeness and eating them at precisely the right time. that's the most important part.

They are bigger than virtually anywhere else I’ve ever seen, they generally taste better than any other grocer, the price is the best price per AVacado you can find outside of the Chinese grocers who’s AVacados are generally bad before you buy them
But to me, the biggest thing is they last. You toss the bag in the fridge and take one out at a time and let it ripen, use it, take out another one. You can easily stretch the 4 out over 2+ weeks and still be tasty. I don’t buy them anywhere else

Much cheaper than owning 4 cars. I got:
Napoleon Rogue (gas) - the weekday daily driver, the CR-V of the collection
Weber Kettle - the versatile weekend sporty-ish car, the S5 Sportback
Camp Chef XXL Pro Vertical Smoker - this is RAM 1500 of the collection.
Kaginushi Konro Yakitori Grill - this is the Boxster Spyder.
The Konro is incredible - if you like grilled chicken wings then you will have the best wings ever on it. The chicken fat burns so clean off it. It is heaven.
The Camp Chef is new but it sure makes a great overnight brisket and it has room to make smoked meats for 30-40 people without much effort.

I wAnder when London Drugs will open again. Closed for six days or so. Victim of a cyber attack.
As soon as they open, I’m going to show support and shop there. Even if their prices are higher than other places. They’re locally owned and operated (HY Louie). Easiest place to shop. Price match policy is great. People working there are, for the most part, very nice.
They have some awesome deals there sometimes. Clearance and blow out sales. Last deal I took advantage of was an Audio Technica AT-VM95ML Cartridge for $100.00 off. Unheard of.
I wish them well and hope they make a speedy recovery.

This data breach must have been absolutely catastrophic for them to be shut an entire week. Even for a place like London drugs this is 10’s of millions lost.
Also a huge blow to the reputation as well. Can you really be sure your VERY sensitive information hasn’t been exposed if you’ve ever been a customer of their pharmacy?
I doubt this is along the lines of a simple data breach or ransom, this seems like it’s moreso entire data bases, customer info, etc. has been exposed if you’re closed this long

I have this feeling the feds or whoever investigates cyber crime want this dealt with properly. Nail the Fokkers responsible for the crimes, caught and punished to the nth degree. I’m sure there are a lot of companies out there that have paid to keep it under wraps. It could be that this breach is somehow traceable.

I'm told they shifted to writing down all inventory movement on paper while the system was down. My source being a pharmacist who still works casually for LD. It's going to be an absolute shit show once operations are back to normal because they will have to play catch up with all this extra paperwork. I hope the public can be understanding of the circumstances. Retail pharmacy is already a grueling hell hole, this certainly didn't help. I'm sure the staff are all working extra hard to try and serve their customers, they would greatly appreciate everyone's patience.

I stay clear of all samples at costco, people are vultures around those stations. Blocking aisles, no awareness. I wish they would get rid of the samples all together. But, It seems samples work so it serves its purpose.

Boeing says workers skipped required tests on 787 but recorded work as completed (https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/05/boeing-says-workers-skipped-required-tests-on-787-but-recorded-work-as-completed/)
FAA: Boeing apparently didn't confirm bonding "where the wings join the fuselage."
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating whether Boeing failed to complete required inspections on 787 Dreamliner planes and whether Boeing employees falsified aircraft records, the agency said this week. The investigation was launched after an employee reported the problem to Boeing management, and Boeing informed the FAA.
"The FAA has opened an investigation into Boeing after the company voluntarily informed us in April that it may not have completed required inspections to confirm adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the fuselage on certain 787 Dreamliner airplanes," the FAA said in a statement provided to Ars today.

Nevermind the wings on the 787 are carbon fibre... that alone scares me quite a bit, I know it's widely used on things nowadays but not over and over and over in tensile strength type of conditions.

This Boeing BS is way more than just individuals not giving a shit, it’s a culture of failure.
There’s plenty of documentaries on them shifting HQ to Chicago, and the Dreamliner really being the catalyst for outsourcing components of their planes and then doing final assembly in Seattle, as opposed to building everything in house.
The Dreamliner has one of the best safety records of any plan in existence I believe, so I wouldn’t be too concerned, but as the culture of safety slips, who knows with newer models.
I just dumped all my Boeing stock the other day at a 60% loss (probably serves me right for buying the dip after the 2 Max 8’s crashed) however, I wasn’t exactly sold on the Max’s either when on a recent trip to Vegas the entire cabin power shut off while still taxing to the gate (on top of being delayed an hour in Vegas for computer problems ‘the computer not accepting data’)

The ones that actually give AF about their work would already have bubbled up the corporate ladder into a supervisory or managerial position, or they would have seeked out a greener pasture for their own good.
Generally, the ones that DGAF tend to remain in menial positions until they screw up bad enough to get themselves fired. But if the job is low risk, then it is more likely that they'll just leech off the system while doing the bare minimum amount of work to get by...
(Actually, that last bit kind of sounds like what I've been doing in the past few years LOL~)

Takes me all of like an hour.
emailed the bbqboys, they had no time to do it until end of June. Said fuck it. Broke out the plastic scraper, the degreaser, power washer, steel wool, and a roll of paper towels and went to town.

The Genesis was a floor model at Home Depot. I don't know how much they are supposed to go for, but I paid $700+tax for their last one. The list price was $1499 so I wasn't gonna say no when they offered it while I was actually shopping for the 2 burner.
The trex deck. I know I didn't want to deal with refinishing a wood deck every year or two years, nor do I like the wrapping paper type of deck ala old vancouver specials. Paid a bit more for the trex. I think the deck cost about 6k to build.

Time: probably around 11pm-2am, theres lots of websites showing info
You will see about 20%, of what people are posting online.
Unless you are half way up to whistler, and even then, i would guess its 50% tops
If your in the city, you will not see anything, bare minimum is spanish banks, iona jetty, nw marine drive, etc
And it will be a zoo of cars with heavy traffic

I find location matters a lot with Lifelabs - the ones in nicer neighbourhoods have more experienced and friendlier staff. Eg. Don't go to the Chinatown one.
I get mine in the back of the hand. You have to specifically ask for it. It costs more, so they avoid using the butterfly or whatever they call the one they use for the hand (so I was told). Never failed me in decades. For me, it hurts a lot less. They're always surprised. I always tell them, "Is it in yet?" (joke goes over their head).
I used to donate blood on a regular basis. 40+ times. Then Covid hit and I never got back into it. Anyway, they were really good at finding veins in my arm. However, I had some not so good experiences. I have what they call rolly or rolling veins in my arm. There were a few frustrating times where I got sent home without any blood being drawn (three attempts rule). A couple of times they managed to get a very small amount out of me and that's a no go, too. One lady started moving the needle around to try and get it to flow better (ouch, ouch, ouch, and then ouch some more). Drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine (diet coke and coffee) helps a helluva lot. It really pumps up the veins.

I do get it in the hand. I learned that when I was in the hospital in 2020 for heart surgery. I specifically tell them don't bother with my arm, they'll never find a vein. they're obvious on my hand though, and I can't believe we let some newbie jab our bodies, and they're useless at what they are doing.

As everyone else have already mentioned, skill levels of the nurses can vary a bit. That said, I've been going to the one on Kingsway and Nelson the last few times I needed something, and they have generally been good (but still with some slight variations).
FWIW, we've taken our child back to Children's Hospital for bloodwork a few times instead of bringing her to LifeLabs. We didn't want to bother with the risks of the Lifelab nurses not being familiar with children, and the Children's staff has always been top notch.

Their title is Lab Assistant and they don't need nurse training to do it. Pay is less, so I doubt a nurse would want to work for lifelabs.

I’ve never really had too bad of an experience with life labs, get regular blood work every 8-12 months but the annoying part is if they are too rough with the needle, it can alter the results for your kidney function readings
So twice now I’ve had elevated kidney function readings where I’m like wtf.. is this number is correct it’s kinda serious.. then I go for a follow up and have to tell them to be better with the needle, and get accurate numbers that aren’t elevated. So a waste of time for all involved

yup, she was a hottie ................ like you said, still is. Good eye.
I go for my A1C at Kensington Life Labs every three months.
On a side note, I get my vaccines and Vitamin B12 injections (monthly) at the Kensington Shoppers and the medical clinic next door. Not a single time have I had any issues (no pain, no blood). The one time I go to the medical clinic to get my B12, my family doctor who happens to practice there, noticed I made an on-line appointment with the first available doctor. I used to just go line up for walk-in, but they no longer do that. Longer story short, she cancels my appointment and books me in with her. I have never in my life been in so much pain. She might be a good doctor, but she sucks at giving shots. Might as well have broken the needle in my arm. Now she wants me to book monthly B12's with her. I think I'll go Shoppers for my B12. Only issue is, they won't give me a shot from a used vial. I have to purchase a new one every time. The medical clinic doesn't care. One vial has enough for ten doses. Oh well, it's only pain.

Five years ago, you could buy a brand new Chevrolet, Nissan or Mitsubishi for less than $11,000, a Hyundai or Kia for less than $15,000 and a Toyota or Honda for less than $16,000.
Those days are over. Now, Mitsubishi is the only carmaker left with a model starting at less than $20,000.
...
According to AutoTrader, the average new vehicle price in 2023 was $67,817, up more than 19 per cent from the year before.

Short of locking up all the car thieves that are caught, what would be a practical and viable approach to reduce car theft?
On an individual level, I'm totally putting an AirTag in each and everyone of my cars. But at the gov policy and police enforcement level, I'm not sure what can be done to effectively and meaningfully reduce car theft. You can have the usual stuff like bait cars, increased priority on car theft crackdown, but the only somewhat meaningful change that I can think of is federal bail reform so that our judicial system is less of a revolving door. But if you were to do that, then we'd need to dramatically increase our dentention / correctional facilities' resources (which I am not necessarily against).

From my understanding, very few people (customers and dealerships) wanted those cheaper new cars in the past.
For customers in that price bracket they either (using a Honda Fit as an example):
- went with a lightly used nicer car for the same price (i.e. purchased used Civic instead of a Fit)
- went with a reliable used nicer car for less money (i.e. purchased a lease-return Civic)
- went with a next-sized model and stretched the loan payment (i.e. financed a Civic instead for nicer amenities with a longer term)
- stretched the budget for a comparable SUV that's slightly more expensive (i.e. went for a HRV instead)
- leased instead of purchased to get a nicer vehicle (i.e. leased a HRV / Civic for not that much more per month)
I also believe dealerships / OEM played a role with this. Dealerships / sales:
- encouraged leases on a more expensive vehicle for a future sale and used vehicle supply (if the customer qualified)
- encouraged leases on a more expensive vehicle because there are better margins for both the store and the salesperson
- sold customers a used vehicle instead because the margins are higher vs. a new cheap car
- needed / wanted to increase the ratio of leases to sales to meet some OEM / auto group objective
I remember conversations with dealerships in the past where stuff like Yaris and Fit just sat and sat and sat without a buyer. Most people who went into the dealership looking for those cars ended up going one model up since it wasn't that much more when leased or financed.

I don't think it applies to used cars, and the car falls outside of the rebate price range when new as well.
I am looking at it because of 5% tax only, and a brand new one is something like 120k out the door, so it's a pretty big saving.
My mom is of the mindset that you should buy new cars. I'm the only one in the family that has ever bought used cars, and 3 of them as well, this would be the 4th. She's asking me why I'm not buying new. I'm like.... I can almost squeeze in a whole Rav4 Hybrid in the price difference......

Tesla used prices have been tanking for the last 18 months, there were too many speculators during covid who tried to make a buck and there's an over supply of them. A lot of the listed ones won't sell at the price they are listed. When was the last you time you heard some one say they were looking for a used Tesla? I think on here, only Hehe bought a used Model X, but the glut is with Model 3 and Model Y.
The other problem is Tesla new pricing has been consistently dropping, everytime Tesla cuts it's prices the used cars take a dump understandably. The dealers would be stuck with bagholding the car if they take it in and it doesn't sell quickly, which in the current market, it doesn't sell quickly.
While I thought they would just lowball the trade, straight up refusing it was slightly surprising. I talked to a few friends and they concurred that they are either a) not taking them in, you are on your own, or b) taking a 5 figure hit compared to list.
sounds like time to keep an eye on used teslas :lol

I think dark said even Hyundai doesn't take trades on Tesla??... lolol you know your brand is devalued when..................
I think the problem is that Tesla adjusts prices on the fly and there's too little prediction on how to value it as trade in. Say a new Y is 60k today, and a used one is 40k. Then the next morning new Y drops 3k, and where does the used one ends at?
Not to mention that the second hand market kinda relies on the lack of information to function, whereas Tesla pricing is available to everyone and it even makes news whenever it's dropping.
All used cars devalue like shit unless you are in some exclusive limited edition cars. It's just Tesla's prices are known and can easily be found. Others, unless you have an active access to dealers' bidding network, it's hard to know the pricing.

Customers have AutoTrader and FB Marketplace to gauge the asking prices for their vehicles - it's not like there aren't enough Camrys, F150s, and RAV4s on the market to gauge what the asking price should be on their own car.
Dealerships have additional tools that share retail and wholesale transactional prices along with market days supply for most mainstream models. This helps them determine what to safely offer a customer without getting burned.
I find dealerships usually have a harder time with limited edition / niche cars because there's not enough transactional data from their tools, so they end up lowballing just to be safe unless the used car manager knows what they're looking at.
I interpret dealerships refusing a Tesla trade as a sign that the pricing on them is volatile, the market days supply is unhealthy, and the opportunity cost is too high.

Well add in the fact too that it's not uncommon for dealers to lowball trades... but to completely blackball an entire model or brand is something else entirely. $400 to clean a BBQ is nuts.
I usually just focus on cleaning the grill rack part as it's actually where it matters. The rest is just vacuum and wipes.
I have an acquaintance who runs a service to restaurants to clean their pots, trays, grills... etc with a special machine to get rid of all the buildups and I usually just drop my grill racks off to him and for the price of a six-pack, they come back shiny the next day. It's incredible what his machine can do. I used to scrub the shit out for hours and my racks wouldn't come anywhere near what his machine can do.
If anyone is interested in cleaning theirs, drop me a PM. I can hook you up.

From the research I've done, the battery pack on the 45e has relatively little issues. The battery pack is actually 12 smaller individual packs and they can be changed out individually. It's not a 5 figure sum if one cell went bad.
It does seem like the BMW system has no alternator and the conventional battery is charged through the motor or a DC converter from the 400V hybrid pack.
The 50e has a new electrical portion of the system with a bigger battery and motor. Some ppl have dynoed it at around 500hp. Thing is kind of insane, but if it's having problems maybe it's not that great

Yeah, I had the iX3 when I was in Australia - really loved it though my wife thought the bucket seats were a bit constrictive. We're a one kid family so the X3 is mostly big enough (we still want the grandparents to also fit in the back but they're all smallish). The X3 PHEV loses some trunk room but I'm not sure if that's a deal breaker for us or not and the short EV range isn't really an issue either as most of our trips are under 15km.
That said, I'd gladly consider a longer range PHEV if it costs about the same and there's no trunk space penalty and the new X3 looks like it could be a winner.

I just buy new racks. a pair for my Weber Q series from Amazon, $75.

Do you replace it every year? That's balling.
Mine is out of question... I think it was something like 180+tax to replace it. So, I think $20-40 per year (I usually do at the end of the season and once mid summer if we are doing a lot of BBQ) is pretty decent for the saving of all the elbow grease.

Cleaning the racks is the easiest part, just crank the grill on high and burn everything off then just scrape and brush it.

Speaking of grates, I highly recommend Grill Grates (https://www.grillgrate.com) if you're replacing yours. Johnstone's in North Van carries them in store. Works exactly as described.

All this BBQ talk what do you guys use/recommend for a cleaning brush. I've always used the ones with the metal bristles but might finally make the switch over to another type but don't know how good they are.

I tried an all wooden scraper and some super durable foamy thing, they kinda sucked, I went back to metal bristles hahaha

Like Sonick says, after I'm done grilling, I set my BBQ to high so that everything gets burnt, then scrape/brush everything off.
I use this Weber grill brush:

And have not experienced any metal bristles coming loose...
I also use this:

I know a few people who have had bristles end up in their food. I use one of those cedar plank things. It's not great at first but it wears/burns to the shape of your grill pretty quickly and then it works really well.

lol those fucking wooden scrapers are the worstttttt!
I guess it would be ok if you gave a stainless grill with the little tiny bars, but for anything bigger I found those completely useless, never quite scrapes the top clean, never quite gets between the grills

I'm a pre-cooking burn off kind of guy, wastes less propane since you have to pre-geat up the grill anyways. I'll use the wooden scraper to get any large bits off, and then follow up with one of those scouring pad style BBQ scraper/scrubbers, then lastly give it a wipe with an oiled rag.

I'm using one from Superstore that has wood(?) bristles and a metal scraper. It works fine but if you like cleaning the grille hot then it becomes a wear item as the bristles will char. I go through about 1 every year or so.
With two young kids, and a lot of the families we invite over having under 5 year olds, metal brushes is just a risk I don't want to deal with.

I should say that my grates are stainless, I wouldn't recommend my method to those with cast iron grates. Those should be cleaned and oiled directly after cooking or they'll rust

I use the 3 sides weber brush and have had no issues. I also burn the shit out of it after I grill and even again before I grill and everything comes off with minimal or no effort but I suppose in the back of my mind I'm always worried a bristle will come off. Looks like verdicts in though, fuck the alternative and stick to metal bristles lol

Use a thick gauge metal brush used for industrial cleaning applications. That way if they fall off you'll see it and there's no way you'll eat it. I was so fed up with the non metal brushes I saw a guy on a forum recommend the thicker gauge metal brushes and its been great ever since.
All other brushes are garbage.

I'm sure westopher can agree being a kitchen guy. You should always run your burners at high not only before cooking, but post-cooking to clear all that crap on the grills/burners.
I'll usually run the grill high heat for 5 minutes (top down) after everything is cooked and off the grill to ensure it's totally clean.

Same question but for the X3 PHEV. Their pricing is surprisingly competitive. I'm not quite ready to buy so might wait till the next gen X3 PHEV comes out but it might be an option when they start clearing the current ones out.
Not sure if it's your jam, but just saw an ad for X3 30e, lease from 0.24%.
That's the rate we did our X3 balloon finance at back in 2019.

Speaking of having a smoker, it would be so cool if i had the space, time, and skills to be able to build one:

Too much char or whatever thing left behind with the high heat method.
Yes, you want some char on your meat to bring out the flavor. But that’s if the char comes from the meat itself and not some leftover scrap from before.

Might be an option. Was that with a specific dealer? I don't see it on the BMW.ca site. Thanks

Right now I just have a Kamodo (alongside my propane grill) which I use for smoking.
I dream of building or getting a nice offset, but there are two main issues with that:
1) I never need that much smoking capacity. I do a brisket or pork shoulder once a year maybe, otherwise at most I do like 2 racks of ribs.
2) Getting a supply of good hardwood needed for an offset is much more difficult out here.

:seriously:
You don't just crank it, throw your meat on a dirty grill, and leave it cranked.
You crank it on high, let the firebox preheat, then scrape down and clean the grill, then put your meat on and adjust the temperature based on the cooking method.

Exactly what I used to do, but too much leftover black carbonated particles. Unless you rinse the grate through, how do you get rid of those black particles after you scrape it?
I’d love to stop paying 20 bucks every year to get rid of them. But the solutions I followed on YouTube are no bueno.
I’m using charcoal/wood grill if that makes any difference.

I think the ad was for the BMW store on Burrard, but it should be across the make. Stores don't make these decisions on their own.

My friend picked up a lease on a X3M Comp for $700/mo for 24 mo @ 0.01%. I think it was from BJ BMW.
Sales said that typically ///M cars don't get discounted lease/finance rates, but they decided to do a promo for April. I'm not sure if it's a dealership level thing or brand level thing.
