I love US grocery store fried chicken as well. For some reason, 90% of them are pretty good and relatively inexpensive except the grocery store in Pt Roberts got pricey (this was pre-Covid). Yah, imagine if they put a Trader Joe's there ... even gas with our lowest prices and high exchange rate, I imagine they are not doing well. And does anyone still use their postal service for buying things from the US anymore? I shifted to Blaine, just a slightly longer drive but there is so much more to do in Blaine like the row of new restaurants, Mexican taco place, Edaleen, oyster bar restaurant, etc. They are trying to make it a bit of a restaurant row there.

It seems like this is more a case of needing scale to fund R&D than anything else as there's not much on the Nissan side worth acquiring - I don't see how acquiring Nissan's body on frame business is worth anything so that leaves some EV expertise and that's it.

This feels like an acquisition more than a merger - I'd be surprised that Nissan is selling anything that isn't just a Honda rebadge in 10 years (their budget brand basically)

Ahh the good old PayPal/ eBay working days. I still reminisce those days since I lucked out and worked in some pretty sweet departments.

I'm in tech so it's a little different.

The company I was at got bought. It was a big hoopla and all, touting the benefits and shares and what not. None of it mattered at the end. They shut us down just before 6 months after transitioning to a Paypal employee full time.

Rumours were, Paypal was in competition with MoneyGram and Tencent to buy us out, and Tencent was the leading competitor.
They shut the business down due to "security breach" but never shared what the breach was. Rumour was (this one needs a big grain of salt though even I don't really believe it) that some one's physical access card wasn't deactivated to the server room, and that was the "breach". And the followup rumour was that it was all engineered so they can shut the company with minimum payout.
Rumours were, the company I was with had licenses to accept physical cash in something like 20 states (don't remember the exact number) and Paypal was keen to keep those licenses away from MoneyGram and Tencent. Those licenses are hard to acquire. There was zero interest in the actual business we were in and Paypal has not since reopened any business in that sector from what I know of.

The fact was, there's internal matching for buying shares per paycheque. 6 months was the first interval for which we the first buy was concrete.
The fact was, they gave us a bunch of shares as merging bonuses, and then the subsequent review period. We never did vest any of it as the first vesting period was 1 year.

They told us we can apply to jobs within and we'd get first considerations. Multiple people reported back that there was a strict no re-hire policy with any employees of our business unit. For instance, a SMG --> MT converted E46 M3 does not nearly fetch as much money as an original M/T E46 M3. Despite it being better (everything is newer), OEM and factory spec is the play here.

I tracked 991/981 GTS and Cup cars, didn’t rly like it.
Early Gallardos have awful interiors and imo the wrong image for me

Question about a carfax report. I'm looking at one for a car that has about 88,000 kms on it. First 35,000 kms or so, consistent, regular dealer maintained service. But then it's blank or silent for the last 50,000 kms. What are some possible reasons for this, is seller trying to hide something? Or did he go off grid and did all service himself/herself?

Chances are the seller went off grid and DIY'd.

Consider how many owners have been through the car, and whether or not the sell has a documented list of maintenance such as receipts etc.

I think for your own safety too, does the name of the seller match the ICBC ownership registration. Otherwise, the risk is the seller is a curber and/or hasn't done any maintenance hahaha :(

Lots of Indy's aren't in that network or are new to that network. Carfax creates more confusion than it alleviates in lots of circumstances. PPI is more valuable than history IMO if it's from the right shop.

I usually try to squeeze in washes when it's not raining - likely tomorrow or Friday - but if I can't then I'll run it through a touch less wash (Shell at Boundary/Marine is good) when it's really dirty or I'll use a rinse less wash if it's not that dirty. I try not to go more than a month without a wash even in the winter - I've been bad at it this year and I can see that my ceramic coating is getting clogged up (and likely wearing out anyways).

Just washed the X5 yesterday because my daughter keeps touching it. It was caked with leaves at one point and I took it through the touchless and it barely dented the caked on grime.

I spent some time with the pressure washer clearing out the wheelwells and did a below average wash on the rest of the car. It's shiny now, with splotches of grime that I didn't get off.

I don't bother drying my cars now either which saves a ton of time.

Most of the iPhone users were all "They're waterproof." Yeah, not for prolonged salt water immersion of the duration they were going to be I told them. Cue blank looks. A couple people heeded my advice and at least put their phones into ziplock bags. The next day about a 1/4 of the devices used unprotected in the ocean died.

30m is generally considered splash resistant. 50m is "swimmable". Once you get to 300M ratings you can safely swim and dive (rec scuba) without an issue. I dove the Great Barrier Reef with a 300M rated analog watch.

Two bulbs in a three light bathroom fixture went out over time so I decided to replace them. However there is a slight burning smell when I turn on the power. Not sure if it's the halogen offgassing or some dust burning off.

There is no spec on the existing bulb for me to verify, so I bought the Philips bulbs from Home Depot. I assumed that the 100W meaning on the label is per bulb since I can't find any 33W or under T3 halogen bulbs. If 100W is total wattage for the fixture, that'd be the max wattage per bulb.

The new bulbs seem to be equally as bright as the existing bulb that still works, so that's sort of my thought process at the moment.

Any thoughts? Don't want a fire to start, lol.

You should be fine. My parents have a 4 bulb halogen light in their bathroom. I use 100W bulbs and no problem. It has the same sticker as yours.

They're a pain in the ass to change as the mounts get stiff. Sure they can be lubed but my parents never think that far ahead
The wall directly behind the fixture is all singed up from heat. Torch flame shaped :lol

But no fires, so you should be fine. The burning smell would be the dust since halogens don't require frequent changing.

Turns out the middle bulb was defective. It blew out later in the night and was all black in the middle, lol, hence the smell.

I took a closer look at one of the bad bulbs and the reason I couldn't see the specs was because it rubbed off/burned off. I was still able to see a very faint etch of it saying 100W/130V.

I'm surprised these only last for 2000 hours. I'll probably just swap them out for the LED ones off of Amazon when they die.

Has anyone bought a Queen sized mattress from Costco before?

I'm just wondering if i'll be able to get it to my van by myself, will a costco employee help me? If I can just get it to my car, I'll be fine, but i'm just trying to think how to navigate a queen sized mattress through costco by myself.

I don't know how to get it from the back of the store through to the check out, even with those orange platform carts, it's too wide.

It's $175 more expensive if I buy it online with delivery, so I'd rather just go to Costco myself.

If you ask up front at the service counter someone may help you.

Generally people seem to stand them up on the cart and walk them out. Just get a friend to help you, we bought one from there and one person held it up another person pushed the cart worked fine

I seen a family of buddy guys pull up 3 cars to the front door of the Costco here and collectively throw 3 mattresses onto the roofs of all 3 cars an drive off. Even granny was in there hefting.

You can move any mattress solo with a 4 wheel dolly, even the heavy ones. Im sure a costco employee can help you get it to your car

Doors, stairs, and sharp building corners are a different story tho
