It sits on a tv stand shelf, which doesn't have a backing. It is in a corner right next to a window which is usually giving a nice breeze off the lake. The box has never felt abnormally hot or smelled of burning plastic.

Where do I find a SA 2015 rated helmet? The sooner the better, track day is coming up, and I don't want to leave this to the last minute. Tho it's starting to feel like it given the number things I need to do to my car and it's not ready.

First helmet? If so, perhaps buy local, so it can be test fitted. Motorcycle shops have some that are SA rated

What the fuck is it with dudes and their leaf blowers? I have yet to see someone actually use it properly. All they do is kick up dust and debris, including small pebbles and wreak havoc on cars parked or driving by. This one asian dumbass was clearing his driveway and pushing all the crap onto the road. Then, right now at the Superstore parking lot, this dude in a truck owned by a landscaping company goes from one island to the next, just bowing the dust around. He does this briefly and then takes off. The idea of a leaf blower is to help make a pile. Then you pick up the piles of leaves or dirt. Am I right? Am I missing something? I have a leaf blower that vacuums leaves and mulches it. So much gooder. Is there like a fucking leaf blower course out there that people can sign up for? This is right up there with people shoveling snow onto the road that’s been cleared. /rant

The only use for a leaf blower that I can see is loosening up the ones that are stuck in gravel or some other debris you don't want to risk sucking up with the vac. Otherwise they're completely worthless (just use the vac) unless you're a jerk who wants to dump their mess onto someone else.

Yea saw some old guy blow a bunch of dust and shit all over a neighbors car then proceeds to use the blower to clean off said car just pushing all the dirt and grime into the crooks and crevasses :/

Thanks, I ended up buying from a race shop in WA called Highline Performance. I drove down there so I can test fit, paid $50 over Amazon, but at least I got a good fit down and it came with great customer service. Still cheaper than local tho.

I drove around WA for about 3 hours, only to find out that each model/brand has different sizing. For future reference, Cycle Barn - the motorcycle gear store does not carry SA rated helmets. And try to buy earlier than May or go on a weekday, because around this time and by weekend, most places would have ran out of stock.

do we have a meal prep thread?

wondering if there's any interest in one for us to share recipes, etc.
i'm having a hard time staying focused.
would be a mix of meat, vegetarian and vegan recipes.
i always say i'm gonna do it but i find it overwhelming to plan them and i just never do it.

i want to get serious about it because i spent almost 4 bills on dining out in the past 2 months and I want to kill myself for it (figuratively) lol.

Usually I stop off and waste 20 minutes at save on foods to go shopping for dinner ingredients when I'm on my way home from work. I can't commit to buying a weeks worth of groceries when my mind changes 10 times a day about what I want to eat for dinner.
Save on foods has the drive through lane with the little intercom thing there to pick up an online order. Has anyone ever used it and have opinions on it?
seems a lot easier to just select what I want and pick it up already waiting for me after work..

Reviews? Worth it?

I absolutely (pun intended) luv my Dyson Absolute V11 cordless vacuum. I've never vacuumed so much in my life. I love the digital display that shows me the amount of charge I have left and what mode (Eco through power boost) I'm in. Charge status, etc. The push to shoot the shit into the garbage is so slick. Hepa filter, too. Lots of accessories and the cord free is so cot dam handy. I can do stairs in a snap. It set me back just over one K, but it's worth it's weight in latinum. Ferengi would coin this a best buy when you figure it was purchased using a Triangle World Elite Mastercard........... 4% back, plus no interest 24 month equal payment plan. The thing is so easy to manoeuvre and the docking/charging station is the cat's meow. Also, when I'm vacuuming around the living room and I accidentally suck up something that looked important, the clear canister is way too cool. Between my Milwaukee cordless tools, my Dyson products and my EV, I'm set for life. I have no use for my compressor or anything corded. Next, cordless hairdryer, but I have very little hair, gulolol.

As for built in vac, I sucked up a semi rare coin by accident. Had to go remove the bag, cut it open and rummage through some disturbing shit. Hairs, dust mite carcasses, spiders, and who knows what else. Did find it. If you do lose something that doesn’t make it to the bag, there’s this lubricated cloth/towel thing that unclogs shit in the system. Never had to use it myself, but it really works. So they say.

I don't see what you find morbid about being there and taking photographs to remember it. Have you ever taken a photo at a Remembrance Day parade? Where do you draw the line for morbid? I assume you won't be viewing any photos that show up in news feeds or watching it on tv when it pops up on the news tomorrow night.

But one evening, a lady in an unmarked Rogue (and no vest) came by and dropped off my parcel... it turned out she lives in the neighbourhood and Canada Post erroneously delivered to her house. Canada Post is still a joke sometimes, eh

I inherited a box of things from my grandfather and in the box is his old lighter from the 1950's. I can't find a flint that fits it (tried a zippo flint and salvaged a flint from another zippo style lighter to no avail).

Does anyone know of a place where someone can help me fix it?

It's becoming increasingly difficult for any sane person to find virtue in this cause.
Mind you, sanity seems a quality too deep in season these days.

I'll be interested to see the outcome of this case of inclusion and tolerance:

Not going to talk about the discrimination part, but if subjectively, a) a business has the right to reject service. b) if a massage is being done, the masseuse has the right to deny if a client is not welcomed / he or she doesn't feel comfortable (no different if a female doesn't want a male masseuse) c) if a person has no experience, he/she has right to deny service. A car dealership has to right to cancel a job if they don't have to training to do the work.

There are some grey areas of course.

Not sure how Vancouver compares but from what I've seen in other cities, pride parades are just an orgy of repulsive human behaviour. Men walking around with their dicks out like Harambe was there, woman grinding everything, including the air and now I see kids walking around in drag. Plenty of gay people who are disgusted over how the shift as well. Could still have a fun party vibe without the live porn...

I'd be glad to be banned from participating in anything where that shit is happening. I feel like I'd get an STI just breathing the same air.

Almost as if there's some sort of connection between the categorization of people into protected classes and abhorrent behavior.

There are many countries who celebrate pride in a respectful manner. Oddly enough, those same countries don't typically foist homosexuality to the public. Or transgenderism. Or racial bias'. Or sexism.

Manpuku Japanese Bento in Chinatown. Cot Dam, the Curry on Rice was soooooo good. I also ordered their Chicken Karaage Bento. Just as good. Advertised as the best karaage in Vancouver (on the planet). It's definitely good, but the best? Um, pretty close. The best ever still goes to that Japanese restaurant in Winnipeg (forgot the name). No, they sort through them for you. Then, they keep track of how much and credit your account. They have to sort through that shit anyway, so this makes so much sense. Win / win for everybody.

I go to the Kensington location, where they have those scanners for identifying bottles, cans, gable tops, etc. It all goes onto a conveyer, so sorting is done by hand later on, anyway. It's better them than me having to do it. Sign up on-line and they send you free bags and pre-pinted labels. I lost that shit somewhere, so I just went to the Return-It Depot, entered my phone number on the station and printed the labels.

I really feel for the CBC buddies I grew up with in the DTES. Our parents and their parents’ parents worked so hard at earning respect from the rest of Canada. We enjoyed the fruits of their struggles. “The Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino’s, etc. are all honest and very hard working people.” All that gets destroyed in less than a decade. Thanks to the classless mainlanders. We all get lumped into the same category in the eyes of the non-Asians. When I hear people on RS say, “Please don’t let it be Chinese,” it’s sad.

Am I stereotyping? Perhaps, but it’s what I see constantly.

BTW, where are these organizations that help immigrants acclimatize to the culture here in Canada? Is it too daunting a task? I’m surprised the CBC aren’t getting together to help these mainlanders adjust. It’s really in their best interest. No?

On a side note..............

RS, helping FOBs adjust to life here in Canada. Take a Fob camping. Show them how clean this land is and help them appreciate, not destroy our great country. /sermon

Driving instructors.

I'm practicing to get my N, and I'm using my dad's car (2011 Sorento). However, English is not his first language, and that can lead to communication problems when he gives me instructions. I was thinking about getting one or two lessons from a professional driving instructor, to patch up my weak points, which are as follows:

-Parallel parking (especially in tight spaces)
-Stall parking (especially in narrow stalls)
-Mirror position
-Making sure my rear tire doesn't fucking hop the curb when I make a turn

Could I get some suggestions on instructors that don't break the bank? If it matters, I live near Lougheed Mall.

is it legal for me to withdraw money from a customers credit card when they are ignoring my requests for payment?

customer has had invoices outstanding for 3-6 months, not a huge total, about $350, but there were some disputes with quality that we fixed and agreed to credit him for. I am going to give him a really fair amount in credit, and then withdraw the rest. I've sent him an email basically saying that I will withdraw the remainder after credit from his credit card that we have on file.

Usually we ask for authorization to withdraw the amount before just doing it, but he's basically ghosted us because as some of you guys may know, once a business relationship goes a bit bad, the customer no longer wants to pay for anything at all, even the stuff unrelated to the job in question... some people suck.

From what I learned at the bank while trying to set this up, you will need to have previous authorization to debit the amount. Typically, a one time authorization is fine. Otherwise, they can request a chargeback.

I love my Passport iX Radar Detector. It warns me of red light and, now, speed cameras. I drove from Burnaby to Abby to Mission and back and went through four speed cameras. Three of them I didn't even know of.

There are signs up warning people, but sometimes, you miss them. I think it's a great idea. The speed cameras, that is. I notice people slowing down at these high risk intersections.

Anyway...............

how is this diff from unauthorized purchase?

Just because you owe a bill or payment to someone doesn't mean they have the legal right to withdraw your funds.

Merchants must get a customer's permission to process charges on his credit or debit card under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.

Vegans in Spain "rescue" 16 rabbits, cause 100 rabbits to die in the process

https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/vegan/vegan-activist-allegedly-killed-almost-100-rabbits-in-the-process-of-rescuing-16-c-445220

A vegan activist who rescued 16 rabbits from a farm in Spain may have caused the deaths of 100 more in the process.

'Mythical Mia', whose real name is unknown, posted a video to her social media after the alleged rabbit rescue mission, showing her apparently covered in blood.

She claimed she and fellow activists, who were on the farm for five minutes, were shot at by an angry mob when the rescue was made at the farm, near Osono in Catalonia, on September 1.

“I’m covered in blood. This is what the farmers have done," Mia says in the video.

"They shot through our window and chased us down the motorway. Oh my God, I’m literally covered in blood."

But Spanish newspaper La vanguardia, which cites a report from a local vet, says the activist's actions led to the deaths of about 90 baby bunnies, whose nursing mothers had been taken during the alleged mission.

The young rabbits had to be euthanised after the rescue.

Five pregnant rabbits were also reportedly killed during the mission and a number of others were left with broken spines.

Mia, who documented her alleged rescue on Instagram to her 40,000 followers, has now made the page private.

She provided an update following the alleged mission, saying she "had to leave thousands of mothers and babies behind".

Half the problem regularly in traffic is that everyone seems to brake randomly. How about keeping distance and then just letting off the gas? But nope. They like to use the brake pedal like another gas pedal. As soon as one car flashes brakes, everyone flashes brakes.

Canadian youth pledge not to have children until politicians act on climate change

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/climate-change-canadian-youth-no-children-pledge-strike-1.5285083

Emma-Jane Burian is 17 years old and has already decided she is not having kids.

The Victoria teen is participating in Climate Strike Canada's "No Future, No Children" campaign which asks young people to pledge that they will not have children until they are sure that the federal government is taking action on climate change.

The campaign launched Monday, with 190 people having pledged as of noon PT.

"It's an expression of fear, but it's also a plea for action," Burian told The Early Edition in a phone interview, adding she took the pledge out of hope that Canadian political leaders would begin implementing climate change solutions.

'Just asking for a safe future': Thousands of B.C. students protest political inaction on climate change
"It's hard because generations past have not had to think about this," said Burian, who said her family is supportive of her plan, but that some friends think her decision "crazy".

Burian does not think her age makes her incapable of making such a choice.

"I don't think you're too young to listen to science and make decisions about that for yourself," she said.

Burian, who volunteers for the Green Party, said the group is asking federal candidates from all parties to make clear in their platforms what they are doing to reduce emissions and address climate concerns.

Burian says she wants to see politicians then acting on those promises and not just pay lip service to them.

"It's not a matter of hearing. I think we've been hearing a lot of things from different political parties … I want to start seeing the change," she said. "We have the solutions and it's about implementing those."

For Burian, the ultimatum not to bring children onto a planet she considers overheated and overcrowded is a sacrifice she is willing to make to bring about the change she wishes her elders would.

"I have the responsibility of doing it because the adults aren't adulting," said Burian. "I, for one, couldn't watch my children suffer because the government didn't take any action."

Climate Strike Canada, which mobilized hundreds of students in May to skip school and march for climate action, is a network of students and activists that is not associated with any political party. Another large-scale school strike is scheduled for Sept. 27.

30$ a day for all games. I ended up watching 4 of them yesterday from 10:00 am - 9:30 pm. Long time to be sitting watching games and walking around.

Australia
Finland
Sweden

I was too lazy to do it right by splicing, soldering then buttfuck the other wire. When I needed it the most, it failed on me. Good thing I wasn’t street racing for pinks.

Those taps are not meant for prolonged use. If you can’t do the solder thing, use a posi lock instead. They’re a lot more reliable. I’ve got an assorted kit of both posi-locks and posi-taps. Google it.

Went to Dynamic and asked to borrow a jack. They were like LOL we saw the whole thing - you gotta jack up the rear. Ask Kal Tire, they work on semi's.

Walked back to the truck and another semi truck driver was there TEACHING the first guy that there's a fucking hydraulic switch on the connector. Man I can't believe this guy is allowed to haul trailers.

As you can tell, I'm not too smart with circuitry. I really appreciate you guys for steering me in the right direction to avoid coroded-mickey-mouse-wiring.

To paint a picture, the purpose for this is to tap into some power from an Odyssey's reverse bulb to power up an aftermarket reverse camera. the connection should be mostly shielded by the elements since it'll be between the interior plastic shell and the outside metal of the rear lift-gate though, but I don't know if that is protected from condensation and moisture though.

It's the last home game for the Blue Jays. While watching, I noticed two players of note for the Rays. Ji-Man Choi and Tommy Pham. Wow, how inclusive......... I looked up Tommy Pham. Vietnamese, for sure. Here's what I found. Stories like this restores my faith in humanity. The sacrifices that mom made, and strangers helping out young kids when the dipshit father repeatedly fucks up.

ST. LOUIS — It’s Father’s Day this weekend, a time when hundreds of Major League Baseball players will be calling their fathers, expressing their gratitude and telling them how much they love them.

It will be nothing more than another day on the calendar for St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham. The only significance on this day is that the Cardinals will be playing an interleague game at Camden Yards against the Baltimore Orioles.

“It’s really of no importance for me,” Pham says. “Maybe one day if I become a father, it will. But not now. Truthfully, it doesn’t mean anything.”

Pham has a biological father. He just doesn’t know him.

They met twice.

Each time he was behind bars.

“He was dealing drugs, that’s all I know,” Pham tells USA TODAY Sports. “He’s in jail to this day.”

Mets' Matt Harvey, Neil Walker expect to miss 'several weeks'
Tim Tebow has a shot to win a championship in baseball
Royals making most of their last chance together
Pham visited his father for the first time when he was 4 years old and the second time when he was 12. His grandmother drove him and his twin sister each time. That was the extent of their communication.

“He had a long sentence, but he got out once and then went right back in for selling drugs again,” Pham says. “He tried to keep in touch after that, but I didn’t want anything to do with him. When he messed up the second time, I was just like, ‘You know, there’s no need for a relationship.’ ”

Pham was told his father, African American and Vietnamese, was an exceptional athlete in high school in Las Vegas. He was supposed to play college football. Drugs ruined those dreams and tore apart a family in its infancy. Pham and his twin sister Brittney were born, he says, when his father was in prison.

“There’s no need for anyone to feel sorry for me or anything like that,” Pham says. “If anything, I felt like this kind of helped me. It made me stronger, made me tougher.”

Pham can count on one hand how many times his mother, who worked several jobs as a casino waitress and in a bakery to make ends meet, attended any of his games throughout his life. He was usually the best athlete among his friends, playing football, basketball and baseball, but while the other kids had at least one parent cheering them, his support came from the parents of neighbors and teammates.

“There were guys whose dads would take them to all of the practices and games, and their dads would be there to give them a pat on the back and say, ‘It’s going be OK.’ I didn’t have any of that,” Pham said.

“I didn’t have anyone sugarcoating anything or babying me. All I had was myself, and that was fine by me. I had all of the motivation I needed.”

Pham, 29, says he’ll forever be indebted to Al Ramirez and his son Alvino for taking care of him as if he were family since Alvino and Pham became friends when they were 9. Ramirez drove him to games and tournaments, and Pham even lived with them for three years in the offseason while he was in the minors.

“I just tried to be that father figure for him,” Al Ramirez said. “We just tried to make the best of things, the situation he was in. He didn’t really talk about his dad too much. He let baseball be his oasis.”

Pham became a star, hitting .581 with 10 homers, 56 RBI and 28 stolen bases with a 4.5 grade-point average at Durango High School in Las Vegas. He planned to go to college and had a baseball/academic scholarship to Cal State Fullerton, but his family needed money. He signed a $325,000 contract with the Cardinals as a 16th-round pick in 2006, ending his summers working at a car wash and a construction company.

He has spent the last 11 years of his professional baseball life living by the motto inked on his left biceps: “Believe in Yourself.”

Pham has overcome a litany of injuries and a degenerative eye condition (keratoconus) that has made him legally blind in his left eye.

“I’ve gone through so much adversity,” Pham says, “but even after everything I went through, I never thought about quitting. Until this year. Hardly anyone knows this, but truthfully, I almost did. I had enough being back in the minors. I told two of my closest friends that I was done. I was ready to walk away from the game.”

Pham, who had spent parts of the last four seasons at Class AAA Memphis and asked for his release in 2014 to join another team when he was a fifth outfielder, simply had had enough. He thought he should have made the Cardinals’ opening-day roster, and when he still was in the minors the first month of the season, his frustration grew.

“There’s really not much you can do as a player,” Pham says. “You can’t really ask for a trade because you don’t want to piss them off. They had all of the leverage. I just felt I had done enough at the major league level to have a big-league job.

“My biggest fear was being down in the minors and, even if I was dominating, knowing there was nothing for me to gain.”

Pham, who signed a split contract paying him $231,107 in the minors and $547,900 in the big leagues, didn’t know what was next in life. Yet after spending most of the last two seasons in the big leagues with the Cardinals, he couldn’t stand the thought of being stuck in the minors for much longer.

“He called me one night,” says Alvino Ramirez, Pham’s childhood friend from Las Vegas. “Tommy told me, ‘I don’t think I want to play anymore.’

“I told him, ‘I’m not going to let you quit. You worked too hard for this. You overcame all of the injuries, and struggles and setbacks. You’ve got to find a way, keep fighting, you’ll get through this.’ ”

Well, 10 days later, Cardinals outfielders Stephen Piscotty and Dexter Fowler were injured in back-to-back innings. Pham was called up May 5, and in his first series against the Atlanta Braves, he had six hits and three homers. In May, he led the Cardinals with a .320 batting average and had five homers and 14 RBI.

It’s up to Pham to make the most of his opportunity until Randal Grichuk returns from a stint remaking his swing in the minor leagues. Pham is batting .287 with a .391 on-base percentage and a .461 slugging percentage. He has a team-high six stolen bases but only 10 extra-base hits. He ordered new contact lenses this week, hoping that will make a difference in his production. He wants to hit 20 homers, steal 20 bases and produce a .900 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, and he thinks it’s possible, as long as he’s given the chance.

“I believe in myself. I believe in my ability, just because I’m strong mentally,” Pham says. “I see a lot of guys in this game that mentally are weak. They crack. That’s not me.”

Pham, who regularly speaks to Boys & Girls Clubs and Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) programs in the St. Louis and Memphis areas and puts on free baseball clinics for kids in Las Vegas, tries to teach them the same values that made him a baseball survivor.

“I have such high expectations that I do feel like I can achieve more than I’ve shown in this game,” Pham says. “But at the end of the day, the one thing I can say is that I truly earned everything I received in this game.

“Some guys are more privileged than other guys in this industry. And sometimes it comes at the expense of winning. No matter what happens to me, I know I left everything out there. I’m proud of that. And people don’t realize how refreshing it is to actually say that.”

I know it's subjective, but man these impressions are not very good at all. Even Baldwin's Trump. He does the mouth thing and squinty eyes way too much, IMO.
Maybe I'm just biased because i remember when that show was actually great.
Back when they had Carvey, Sandler, Spade, Farley, Myers, Hartman, Nealon, Schneider, Rock, Macdonald, Meadows, to name a few.
Or even before that with Ackroyd, Murphy, Chase, Morris, Murray, Piscopo.

These guys all moved on to become stars. I don't think i could name a single cast member on that show in the last ten years aside from Fallon and Faye

Seems to be a not very well known event, but the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship tournament is going on right now at the Langley events center. Only happens once every 4 years and this year it's hosted here.
30$ a day for all games. I ended up watching 4 of them yesterday from 10:00 am - 9:30 pm. Long time to be sitting watching games and walking around.

20 Countries are playing and Canada has never lost the tournament.
Teams:

Iroquois Nationals
Canada
England
USA
Israel
Czech Republic
Slovakia
Germany
Scotland
Mexico
Australia
Finland
Sweden
Austria
Costa Rica
Netherlands
Serbia
Hong Kong
Switzerland
Ireland

It's not a popular event, but if you're in to lacrosse it's fun to watch each countries best players go at it. They're aged 19 - 40 I assume from what I can see and the players I've talked to.

Give a lil update on this.

Team Canada has won the gold medal in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship tournament making them 5 time world champions never losing a single game since 2003. Final game score = Canada - 19 VS. Iroquois - 12.

In 2023 when the next tournament takes place they'll be able to say they've never lost a single game in 20 years.

Was at the Grandview charging station last night where I met this fellow who just got out from the theatres. He went to an advance screening of the joker. He gave the movie a 10/10. Not one to just give out a ten, he said. The weird part was, he looked like he could be the joker. I mean, he had the hair and everything. I just wanted to quietly crawl into the car and lock the doors, lol. Was after Superstore and the gas station was closed. Did I mention it was dark as hell out there? He was telling me how wonderfully gory and dark it was................

Cat got laid so much he needed a glucose drip
A male cat has been left needing a glucose drip after it mated with at least five females in one night when he was let out of his cage by pet hotel staff.

Xiaopi, a Russian Blue, was left at the pet hotel by his owners, Mr and Mrs Zhao, in Guangdong Province in South China.

Mr Zhao said he had specifically told the business that Xiaopi had not been neutered.

"I thought they'd be professional, but the staff member didn't feed Xiaopi during the day and let him out to roam freely at night," the cat owner posted on social media.

"That's right, all the cats were free to walk around the shop and then the employee went home.

"Between around 10.40pm and 5am, my cat mated with five female cats. And those are only the ones I could see in the CCTV footage."

Zhao claims the pet hotel staff then blamed him for the incident and complained that some of the cat owners weren't planning on having kittens.

He said: "They had the nerve to be upset with me. They wanted me to explain the situation to all the other owners.

"My f***ing cat is exhausted and on a glucose drip, and this is my fault?"

Zhao later revealed the pet hotel apologised and offered to pay for Xiaopi's fluid therapy.

He added: "They're going to compensate each pregnant cat's owner 500 Renminbi (NZ$110), and have promised to sell any kittens on their behalf.

"The other owners have also told me they'll either give me a kitten or 1000 Renminbi ($220) if their cats turn out to be pregnant."

A pedigree Russian Blue can be worth anything between $680 to well over $2000.

Zhao said Xiaopi has since regained his strength and is in a stable condition.

Thai judge shoots himself after making statements about being pressured to find suspects guilty

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49945636

Thailand judge shoots himself in court after criticising system

A Thai judge shot himself in a courtroom after delivering a rare speech railing against the country's justice system.

Kanakorn Pianchana acquitted five Muslim men of murder on Friday before calling for a fairer judiciary.

He then recited a legal oath, pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the chest.

But the judge survived and was rushed to hospital where he is recovering from his injuries.

A statement believed to have been written by the judge before giving his ruling suggests that his suicide attempt could have been related to alleged interference in the case.

What happened in court?
The judge worked at the Yala court in the insurgency-hit south of Thailand.

After acquitting the five men of murder and firearms offences, he addressed the court with an impassioned speech that he broadcast live on Facebook.

"You need clear and credible evidence to punish someone. So if you're not sure, don't punish them," he said.

"I'm not saying that the five defendants didn't commit the crimes, they might have done so," he added.

"But the judicial process needs to be transparent and credible... punishing the wrong people makes them scapegoats."

The Facebook feed then cut but people in court said the judge read out a legal oath in front of the former Thai king's portrait before whipping out a pistol and shooting himself.

He was rushed to hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

Why did he do it?
It is not fully clear why Judge Pianchana attempted to take his own life.

Suriyan Hongvilai, the spokesman of the Office of the Judiciary, told the AFP news agency he shot himself due to "personal stress".

But local media reported that the judge could have been referring to the case he had just ruled on.

A statement believed to have been written by the judge and posted to Facebook before he shot himself stated that he had been pressured to find the men guilty despite lack of evidence.

"At this moment, other fellow judges in Courts of First Instance across the country are being treated the same way as I was," he wrote.

"[If] I cannot keep my oath of office, I'd rather die than live without honour."

Criticism of the judicial system by judges is extremely rare in Thailand.

Rights groups have alleged that security forces trump up charges against Muslim suspects in the Malay-Muslim majority region.

Best way to get people on board with your cause?
Simple.
Infuriate them.
https://globalnews.ca/news/6000505/climate-change-activists-burrard-bridge/

Protesters assembled at Seaforth Peace Park at the foot of the bridge with plans to march to the structure around 8:30 a.m.

About an hour later, activists walked across the bridge chanting “climate action.”

“Extinction Rebellion has three demands,” said activist Maayan Kreitzaman.

“The first one is that the government tell the truth and work with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change.

“The second demand is that government act now to cut greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2025 and halt biodiversity loss immediately, and the third demand create and be led by a citizens’ assembly on climate and ecological justice.”

Critics say the blockade will lead to more emissions from cars stuck in traffic.

Activist Edison Huang said additional emissions created by the protests are “a small cost to pushing forward with systemic change.”

Demonstrators in Victoria also took over the Johnson Street Bridge around 3:30 p.m., holding it for about two hours while police diverted traffic.

Some protesters say they are prepared to be arrested as a part of the protest.

Police in Halifax have arrested about 18 people and police in Toronto arrested around 12 people in similar protests.

In Edmonton, activists with the Extinction Rebellion movement blocked a major route into downtown Edmonton Monday morning, leading to tense moments between demonstrators and drivers.

Similar protests were planned for approximately 60 cities around the world.

From what I have heard:
1. " Richmond RCMP were called to a local hospital just after noon with a report that a patient who wasn’t permitted to leave the premises had fled on foot." - News
2. Normal patients don't steal police cars
3. It was broadcasted over the in-car radio that he was going to kill a bunch of people after he stole the police car. (hearsay)
4. Policy does not allow for pursuits unless there is imminent threat to public.

You can probably draw your own conclusions from that.

A fleeing Richmond Hospital patient stole a police cruiser before smashing into three vehicles in a bid to get away.

Just after noon on Monday, Richmond RCMP were called to the hospital after a report that a patient, who was not permitted to leave the premises, had fled on foot.

A Mountie found the man in question, but was unable to take him into custody before the suspect got into the police cruiser and drove off.

The man driving the stolen police car then collided with a civilian vehicle and an unmarked police car near Gilbert and Donald roads, just north of Blundell Road. He then collided with a second civilian vehicle on Gilbert, just south of Blundell, where he was arrested.

I got the pursuit part wrong, it looks like they didn't pursuit but then ... boom, imminent danger. Maybe they shoulda.

No no, you got it right. What I meant was, with all 1-4 points, this guy that stole the cop car, seems to be dangerous. Dangerous to the point that they did pursue.

I was there again today. This time I asked one of the cooks behind the counter how long they've been there. He says, proudly, "42 years!"

I replied, "Oh, that's why I don't remember this place. I grew up in this area long time ago." He then asks if I went to Strathcona or Britannia. I said, "Yes, both." I then asked him, "When did you graduate?" He says, "79." I told him I graduated way before that....... he bows his head in respect.

One thing the 41st avenue location has over this location is the Pork cutlet with tomato and cheese over fried rice. For $7.95, it's a good deal. Nobody in my family likes it all that much, but I'm hooked on it, lol.
