I usually give it 2 flashes but I don't think it's very common either way.

I think it's more common with bus or semi drivers.

I usually give the hand wave visible through the rear window because I have to take my eyes off the road to find the hazards button.

I do that too! only if there's no car behind me. Tho I find sometimes it doesn't work.

lol, because of it sometimes not working, I feel too self conscious when it doesn't work, so I stopped doing it. I think it depends if how early you're there. Like if the light is about to change within the next 10-15 seconds, it doesn't work.

I used to do that, but realized that under certain circumstances, you're not doing the flow of traffic any favours. Preventing thru traffic from going, for two cars to turn left. There's a reason for the second sensor. Late at night when traffic's light, sure. Nobody would care. I knew a guy who would purposely reverse to trip the sensor. Until he got caught by the cops, lol.

While it's true that this maneuver is somewhat controversial, if it's really just 2 cars, that's like an extra 10 seconds the through traffic has to wait before the light changes to their favour. On the other hand, the 2 left turners would have to wait for the entire traffic flow to end before they can turn on the yellow, or only 1 car gets to turn cause someone in the through traffic runs a late yellow. If it's late at night, then it's kind of pointless since the traffic is so light anyway.

For double doors like this, in regards to the door handles. Can I just buy two full sets, then to make 1 a dummy handle, by removing the middle mechanism that moves left and right?

Yes you can, just buy match gripsets and on the stationary door don't put in the bolt and latch, you wont have the hole in the door for those anyways.

Just make sure you take your old one off and try to match the holes center to center, newer hardware have different specs and you might have holes left over on the bottom of the gripset you'll have to fill after mounting.

You must stop on the detection loop about a second before the cross street turns yellow lol. Sometimes i miss it by half a second, then wait as usual. No hard feelings haha.

Afaik, Vancouver seems to be the only place that uses 1st and 3rd position, with the exception of Boundary @ Henning, which is one set of loops on the 2nd position only. All others have it at the stop line, or converted to camera detection, which always detects the first car for left turn anyway

Imo it can be advantageous even if it’s just you and the car in front. You never know, maybe the person in front is the type of driver who waits until the next yellow/red before turning, even if the oncoming traffic clears up. It can inadvertently help them lol

Whenever it's 2 loops, does sitting on the 2nd loop without someone on the 1st loop do anything? I've seen people do that at night, but never noticed whether or not it works.

Depends on the intersection. It seems to be a programmable setting. I've seen dual-loops work when both are occupied, and ones where one car on the back loop is enough. Time of day can also affect the behavior. I've got all the ones on my commute and neighborhood memorized.

It pains me to see people not understand why they need to be behind the stop line because that's where the sensor is. I've also seen people that don't come up far enough to trigger the sensor, too.

I think SOME lines in weiser kwikset have the bottom bolt with adjustment, unsure about the schlage residential stuff.

If you're not too picky about design its usually fine, but I've noticed if you want to match older decorative gripsets it gets much harder to find that arent fixed.

You cray cray bro! What do I care about the flow of traffic when I'm stuck behind a red light for what seems like eternity? It never even entered my mind that someone going perpendicular to me might get home for dinner 2 mins later if I pull the reverse to trip 2nd sensor behind me move.

Plus, eventually, the light would have turned in my favor (after what feels like 10 mins), so the flow would be eventually "interrupted" ... I just quickened that.

And what the hell would the cops give the guy a ticket for if driver reversed one car length to trip the green light in his/her favor? How is that a violation of the MVA? Is having a passenger go and push the cross light a violation of MVA also? I knew a guy who lived at one of these intersections and he would carry like a 8 ft retractable pole so he could push the crosswalk button to trip the light ... lmao !!

The people that inch forward at a sensor intersection and inch far enough that they don't trip the sensor anymore and the light never changes. Idiots.

So there's one intersection I know 100% is sensor triggered because I drive there everyday, but there's no circles on the ground. How does that work?
I had been stuck behind a bus before where the driver edged to the right side for the left turn so the sensor didn't trip and we ended up waiting for a good 5 mins until a pedestrian crossed.

(Why do ppl do that thing where they edge the car to the opposite edge of where they are turning? This ain't V3 and no one is doing TST)

Could be infrared (or possibly microwave). They look like cameras mounted on the traffic light.

https://elteccorp.com/news/other/are-there-sensors-at-traffic-lights/
Infrared sensors are another type of sensor often used in traffic signals. Instead of being embedded in the pavement, these sensors are mounted overhead to detect the presence of vehicles in an intersection. The two types of infrared traffic sensors are active infrared sensors and passive infrared sensors.

Active infrared sensors emit low-level infrared energy into a specific zone to detect vehicles. When that energy is interrupted by the presence of a vehicle, the sensor sends a pulse to the traffic signal to change the light.

Passive infrared sensors do not emit any energy of their own, but rather, they detect energy emitted from vehicles and other objects nearby. When a vehicle enters the passive sensor’s field, the sensor detects the change in energy and alerts the traffic signal to the presence of a vehicle so the light can be changed.

If you're involved in a (pretty big) single car accident, do you have to make a claim?
If you can do the repairs yourself privately, does it just come out of your own pocket?
Trying to not have the car written off. It looks borderline like it could or maybe not. Hard to say at this point.

To sum it up,

Option 1) fix car yourself, don't tell icbc.
Option 2) tell icbc, fix car using insurance policy, insurance rates go up.
Option 3) tell icbc, they total it, you can't fix it yourself and lose the car.

How much is the car worth? If it's worth 100k, then yeah go claim it.

If it's only worth a few k, might be worth it to just junk it and buy another one.

No, you don't need to make a claim.

If you repair it privately, yes you pay for the entire fix. That being said, body shops are usually negotiable when ICBC isn't involved, and some places will do cash deals.

The only way the car is "written off" is if ICBC is involved. No claim, and ICBC won't know.

What's the car, and what was the accident?

donk.

Option 2 and 3 are the same (aka going through ICBC), they just have different outcomes.

If you go with option 2/3, you get one of those outcomes. No do overs.

So if they say 3, that is all ICBC will do. No going back to choosing 2. Very much a gamble.

What probably happened was that management knew that layoffs were coming so they tried to maximize their production by pushing everyone to get things done faster (while they still had the workforce).

By doing this, you get a short sprint of high production in an effort to keep things on track or advance deadlines.

Actually the company is making money (as Covid restrictions lifting and business moving back to the norm). Obviously if we compare to pre-Covid then the result comparisons looks ugly (I'm sure a lot of companies are on the same boat; except for those that thrived with Covid).

There is definitely some people movement; although the actions do not align with what they want to achieve. It's like saying you have a staff of 10 people to do the work and they want it to be done faster, but how do you do it faster if you slash 1/3 of the team. Either slam the remaining team members with addition work or add more resources to do it faster.

Feels like these idiots are throwing people names into a hat and pulling out names to lay off without any consideration of what they have contributed to the organization. It just adds additional work load to other team members, which creates zero additional value.

When the machine gets into a noisier cycle or the load gets imbalanced, I've tried so many times to go upstairs into the hallway to like... listen at doors (as much as I can without being a total creeper) or see where it's coming from but I cannot for the life of me figure out which unit it's coming from.

I tried blanketing the 6 units above in notices a couple times pointing out the hours for running these things to no avail, but the strata company can't do anything monetary fine wise unless I figure out which fucking unit it is.

First of all, "making money" means mothing if the company is drowning in debt or otherwise mismanaged. The fact that they're laying people off while "making money" means that they are likely looking for buyers by making the books more attractive.

Secondly, from the way you're saying things you're not part of management, which means you have no idea if the company is actually profitable from "making money".

What you're describing is textbook mismanagement, and you're very likely on a sinking ship. Hell, even if not, I would not want to work in such an environment and given how you called management idiots, sounds like you don't want to either. Start updating that resume.

I’ve thought of that… but really really ups the creeper status

There are thermal cams that are expensive to rent that might be able to help. I’m sure running a washer for 6 hours would generate a good amount of heat compared to other units with nothing running inside of them.

I have thermal cams myself but I’m not sure they’d be powerful enough compared to these specialized units that I’ve heard of.

First off, I prepare the $ books for management. So I see exactly all the numbers.

Secondly, they are consolidating the work outsourcing it. This is where I don't understand what they are trying to do when they tell us, do the fucking work faster so we can finish it faster. How is shrinking the team and sending work to somewhere where they don't know what the fuck is going on. Sure work outsourcing saves money, that really works for like repetitive tasks. When it comes to analyzing and resolving issues, they don't know jack as they have no clue about the company.

It's so misleading when its earning money, but slashing the team and want work done faster. Make money with least amount of resources done in the shortest time possible (this indeed spells disaster as you mentioned). So they are fucking idiots LOL.

This sort of reminds me of a question I asked a coworker about whether billionaires should exist. He was saying how if you come up and create a good company that you should be able to earn as much money as you want. If this makes you a billionaire then it's fine.

I was on the side that you never become a billionaire without exploiting and taking advantage of those that work for you and that it is morally reprehensible to look up to these people let alone have them exist.

Do the units have dryer outlets or electric meters in an area you can get to? Only one should be putting out steam or have a meter going up a lot faster than the others.

Has anyone upgraded their electrical panel form 100amps to 200amps?

I'm considering doing this in the near future because I'm hoping to get an electric car soon and our current panel is pretty maxed out.

I'm just wondering what the process is and how strict the city inspector is? We have an unauthorized suite with a stove and the main panel is in the unauthorized suite. Someone told me that having a stove in the suite is a big no no and because of that the electrical inspector will not be happy about it.

Does your power come off the mid-span of the line or is it from a pole?

Going from 100 to 200 may not even be possible in a lot of situations and I would think you almost certainly need to get hydro involved. It wouldn’t just be a matter of having an electrician doing it

We did a 100-->400amp upgrade (technically 2x200amp as it's cheaper going this route). Mainly because the panel was loaded as is, we needed EV charging (2x) and setup a workshop in the garage for soldering/woodworking and whatnot.

Just need a competent electrician who help you navigate through the process, especially dealing with BCHydro. But call BCHydro FIRST to see if your address has enough capacity to accommodate the upgrade. It's a first-come, first-served situation. I was able to do it, while my friend wasn't so lucky as his neighborhood was more dense and already maxed out.

But all in all, it's quite simple. The electrician will give you a quote about what needs to be done/replaced and then they submit the upgrade application to BCHydro (there's a separate fee for that, check BCHydro for rebates). BCHydro will call to harras you about why you need so much power (at least in my case, as 400amp service is rare for residential setting), they were actually quite serious on this and you need to justify it. My guess is to prevent any grow-up operation.

It wasn't a cheap endeavor. But it's nice to know that we have everything we need with room to spare to grow in the future. And I think as a homeowner, with the whole market shifting toward EV, house that's EV ready vs. one that's not would most likely mean that you'd be able to recover the investment down the road.

if i was an electrician i wouldn't want to work 'live', but i'm not a cowboy, so unless you have a main disconnect, you need hydro to do a power shutdown.

if you have the new panel installed before hand it can be switched over during the shut down so you pay for 1 trip vs 2 with hydro technician visits

regardless, the service to your home needs to be sized to accommodate 200a panel. if not, i believe you're on the hook for any infrastructure upgrades to go from 100a to 200a. depending on what's needed on hydro's end, that can be expensive for you. something to be aware of when budgeting upgrading the service to your home in addition to whatever the electrician does for you, if the electrician doesn't flag this to you.

For the power upgrade

Hydro has a flat fee they charge, they'll come out n turn the power off/on

The city will require permits (handled by electrician) and may have demands of their own

Your electrician will have a fee to install the new panel, and run the wires to your house (could be expensive, mine charged $5.5k)

All in all it cost me about $7K+ to go from 100->200 plus a couple other things

I talked to my electrician quickly about this because an EV or plugin is in the cards in a few years. The problem for us is potentially the connection between the house and the garage as it might be the case that the power line goes to the house, and then goes underground to the garage. Our garage is elevated on concrete so adding a bigger line may not be the easiest thing to do.

GLOW
10-05-2021, 09:44 AM
ya it'll depend on the size of your underground conduit to the garage (hopefully there's a conduit and not a buried cable :lol )

i figure it's a matter of if there's space for another feed, or maybe pulling the existing out and a larger feed (if it'll fit) to a new sub panel in the garage.

That said, I absolutely refuse to pay for subscription fees and I don't care about China listening to me. The Nest doorbell cameras have a low base price of $99, but a hefty subscription fee.

I use the Eufy 4K battery powered doorbell camera. Works great, video is clear night and day. Battery life is kind of bad at 3 months, but I have it on the most power intensive settings. It charges via USB-C. The hub doesn't have expandable storage so you'll have to delete like you would on a dash cam. I paid around $350 for mine on Black Friday I think

You could go with the wired version, but I didn't like the placement of it - my existing doorbell is on the left wall to the door. I wanted to see down the porch and what not.

Does anyone manage their own corporation?
I'm looking for some advice.

I have a small side hustle that generates about $1,500 per month in profit.

I don't need the money from that business, and I'm wondering if I should just incorporate the business so I can hold the money in the corporation and I can invest it and let it grow. Right now I'm claiming it on my personal taxes on the t2125 form, so I'm getting taxed accordingly as it's just adding to my personal income.

The idea is if I keep it in a corporation I would not be subject to the same high personal income tax and I can grow it within the business and be more tax efficient. Then if I needed the money I can draw it out as dividends?

I do my own personal income taxes and filling the t2125 isn't difficult for me. If I incorporate, will that add a lot of extra work?

Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Thanks

Not an accountant, so not an advise

However, unless you are looking to expand it into a scale where it makes a lot of sense in incorporate it (write stuff off, small business tax advantage vs. personal bracket... etc), you need to look hard on the actual savings vs. new responsibilities of having a corporation.

Yes, it can be self-managed... that's the short answer. The long answer is that depending on what you do and how thing are progressing, you might need to bring in accountants, bookkeepers, lawyers... etc to have a proper setup.

I have a small business, it generates less than yours does, originally it was incorporated but I dumped it in the end back to sole proprietorship because I wasn't worried about being sued and because the accounting costs are a massive bite out... and you still get taxed on your investments in a corporate account, it's just... less tax.

Have to weigh it out... for me I was like fuck this I'd rather have the money to spend and I hated seeing $2k+ go to the accountant every year.

I have a small side hustle that generates about $1,500 per month in profit.

I'm wondering if I should just incorporate the business so I can hold the money in the corporation and I can invest it and let it grow.

I would estimate that you would be saving/deferring ~$7,000 per year if you incorporate and don't withdraw anything, such as dividends, from the Corporation. Then there are the accounting fees and filing corporate annual reports. Maybe ~$2,000 per year. So a net tax deferral/savings of ~$5,000.

You have more money left over to invest because of the low 11% corporate tax rate too.

Incorporation for this "small" amount of savings seems like it isn't worth it to me since a bad year/season of your side gig could eliminate most of the benefits. If you can consistently and reliably earn ~$35k+ net income before tax and not needing to dip into those funds, then take a hard look and consider incorporating.

Otherwise, continue with what you're doing :)

Replaced the toilet flapper because it kept getting stuck and water would run continuously every once in a while. Now the water keeps running every 15-20 minutes to refill the bowl because the water level in the bowl slowly drops over time.

When you say “bowl” do you mean the tank?
Is the chain from the lever to the flap just a little too tight? Holding it up just enough to let water pass
Universal flap? OEM?

bobbinka
10-12-2021, 07:37 PM
either the flapper is not forming a tight seal or the gasket between the tank and the bowl is starting to wear away.

let the tank fill, then turn off the valve so it can't refill. let the leak drain the tank. check back later and see if there's a little bit of water at the bottom just up to the flapper. if there is, then the gasket is likely fine and the flapper is the problem. if there is no water left, then it's potentially the gasket.

It seems like the mouth of the toilet tank is close or almost at the bottom so it's inconclusive whether or not its the flapper or the gasket when I let the water drain to the bottom. However, I played with the flapper and the time between refills is not as frequent now.

I think I'll grab this Fluidmaster one and see if it makes a difference - https://www.homedepot.ca/product/fluidmaster-2-inch-universal-performax-high-performance-toilet-flapper-with-microban/1000110879

Don't think it's an issue with the chain because the flapper opens and closes fine.

Just hope I don't actually have to swap out the whole valve flush. I tried removing the nuts that held the tank to the seat earlier and it just wasn't happening, lol.

I always put on my best french accent and demand to speak with a french agent saying it's my god given right and vive la france.

They usually will try and say there's no french agent available then I go on a tirade and they will usually hang up on me.

Lavish, loud Ferris-wheel wedding of singer and politician in Surrey ticks off neighbourhood (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/surrey-ferris-wheel-wedding-1.6218708)

Surrey RCMP say they were bombarded with noise complaints late Tuesday into Wednesday morning after more than 50 residents called about a large wedding celebration in the 7700-block of 192 Street.

According to a written statement from the Surrey bylaw department, officers issued 15 parking tickets and towed a number of vehicles after receiving multiple noise and traffic complaints from neighbours between 10:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.

"Bylaw officers advised the organizer of the wedding to stop and desist their activities due to noise and traffic issues impacting the neighbourhood," it said.

Officers visited the property once again on Wednesday morning, along with the RCMP and the City of Surrey's building and electrical inspectors, due to multiple illegal tents that were set up at the back of the property, including a Ferris wheel, the city said.

An order to stop work on the property was issued to owners for not obtaining proper permits to set up large tents and the city also issued compliance orders over concerns about the electrical setup.

The city said bylaw officers will be issuing fines for zoning and building infractions and the RCMP are also involved.

"As we understand it, the Surrey RCMP are considering issuing fines for violations to the public health order regarding COVID."

The wedding, which had fewer than 130 people in attendance, according to South-Asian luxury wedding planner Jessie Khaira, was for Punjabi singer-actor Parmish Verma and Geet Grewal, who ran but lost in the recent federal election as the Liberal candidate for Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon.

She said it was an "intimate wedding" with just the bride and groom's closest friends and family.

"The groom's friends were here, we had local artists and then we really wanted to have a nice lighting feature for the reception which is where the Ferris wheel came in," Khaira told CBC News.

Tuesday night's reception, she said, was the last event of a traditional seven-day South Asian wedding. The number of guests that attended is not considered big, she said, as they tried to keep in mind the pandemic.

"Was it big in terms of design? Was it big in terms of experience? Definitely," she explained, "but was it big in terms of guests? Definitely not."

She said given how COVID-19 has put restrictions on gatherings for the past two years, couples should try to celebrate in whatever way they can.

"I think that every moment, especially in the last two years, we've really learned that we need to celebrate everything that comes our way because we don't know when things will change."

This property is on 192nd and 78th (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Surrey,+BC/@49.1430998,-122.6921232,145m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x5485dc034d3fa75b:0xd28b4 898abd598e0!8m2!3d49.1913466!4d-122.8490125) has been under construction for what seems like years. You can edit video on a PC or a MAC. A PC is going to be cheaper and have more expandability. Apple is ditching Intel and going with their own M1 chip based on arm. I would go to a place lime memory express and get them to build you a computer for around 2K.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_HKRUPN1Mk

Hehe
10-24-2021, 05:10 PM
With how things are progressing and the power prowess that M1 are showing, I would take a hard look at entry-level M1 Mac Mini to do any beginner 4k work, or maybe wait a little bit for refurb M1 Pro MBP to become available.

To build a decent PC that would handle 4K editing with sufficient smooth workflow, I don't think you'd be looking at less than 2k for the PC alone. Yes, you can go cheaper, but the performance would start sucking pretty hard very soon.

The Arm architecture is so much more efficient and the software side of things, Apple being Apple, get devs to update relatively quickly. Many Adobe apps (at least the main ones) are running M1 natively, and there's already a noticeable difference in performance.

The only possible scenario I'd suggest PC is if you have a huge budget (say 6k+) and can really get a serious powerhouse to run and seek absolute performance at any cost. But from a cost/performance ratio POV, an entry level Mac Mini M1 would be way under 2k and be much more versatile of an editing machine if you are on a budget.

Go to a broker, I just did it last week. Compared TD with VBCE, was a 200-300 basis point different. Having said that, not sure if it's worth your time/convenience to do it for few thousand, as you can do it all online with your bank.

I was browsing FB last night and came across the memories moments from 10 years ago. One of co-workers I worked with passed away when I checked her FB. She wasn't a great person to begin with as she held grudges against everyone on the team, and she always felt entitled (everyone disliked her). She passed away from cardiac arrest, started to make me worry about health. She was only 32 years old.

Do you guys ever see family/friends/coworkers pass away and then start thinking about your own health, or start committing to certain changes in your life immediately.

westopher
10-26-2021, 08:48 AM
Literally always. Everyone’s health is so different though. If you want to be comfortable about your own you need to take care of yourself and as we get older make sure to actually go to doctors when we have issues and not just ignore it.
Some people eat McDonald’s every day and smoke and drink and live to 90 but some people run marathons and live to 30. You can’t really use either as a measure.

This hit me BIGTIME... couple years ago... one of my best friends in the world, met him in Grade 8 and it turned out we actually met when we were like 3 years old cuz I grew up in the same townhouse complex as him, but my family moved away when I was 5... anyway we would spend entire weekends playing Tecmo SuperBowl... pooled our money to buy summer membership to the Richmond Pitch & Putt and played the maximum twice a day every single weekday all summer... played hockey together everywhere... buddy never had a license, walked and ran everywhere, I was always driving him places... his birthday was the reciprocal of mine, we used to log into each other's school accounts that used birthdates as a "security feature" at Kwantlen and pick up blocks of ridiculous classes like Women's studies or Art shit just to fuck with each other.

I lost my job in 2003 and decided fuck this I'm gonna rent a car and drive across Canada, I called him up and said hey man you want to go and he was like fuck ya let's go... for a month we drove across Canada and all through the USA etc until I got a call that probably cost $20.00 on my FLIP PHONE (hahaha) for an interview when were in Las Vegas somewhere and we head back a bit early so I could go to that.

Over the years careers and relationships drew us apart... life... but still see him walking around Richmond randomly and pick him up, catch up... he would come to my hockey games when he could... in all the years we played, I was always an offense guy and he was a stay at home D... I never once got past that dude no matter how hard I tried. He was in fantastic shape, ran 10km a day minimum like literally every day... wore shorts in the wintertime kinda guy... always a warm body.

Then one day a couple years ago I got a text from my sister telling me to check Facebook... he was dead. Found him sitting in a chair after getting ready for work. Colossal heart failure.

To this day it sticks with me... it's been a couple years, I still sometimes scroll down on my phone to the last messages I exchanged with him where we missed getting the gang together for a birthday a month before and have a lot of regret that we didn't make that happen. I still have his hockey stick here that his mom gave to me... but man it bugs me so much whenever I think about it... if someone as healthy as that dude bit it so suddenly with no real prior health issues, what chance do the rest of us have? Why am I even still here when he's not? It really messes with your head. I'm definitely more aware of my physical condition after... even though it apparently didn't help him... I definitely try to stay on top of it and not just pretend to be a tough guy anytime something is wrong and not seek medical opinion.

I don't want to assemble it and everything is warped, but i also don't really have tons of room at the moment unless i cram it in the bedroom. i don't trust my cats with it in the other rooms since there is a lot of cardboard, they'll probably scratch the shit out of it. i could always take it to my parents place to store inside. where it is right now it doesnt get wet, but i'm just thinking about the moisture in the air.

^Or laziness.

I'm not kidding you, I'm a donut fanatic, to the point my gf makes fun of me.

Tim Horton's donuts are plain and simple wasted calories.

For years I bemoaned the lack of donut options in Vancouver as opposed to our friends down south in Seattle/Portland (back in the day my donut heaven).

Nowadays there's more and more options in Vancouver when it comes to snagging a good ass donut. If you're partaking in a donut a few times a month, it's not hard to hit up a good spot with a decent deep fried morsel.

Like I said, if you're going to give yourself diabetes, high cholesterol, why bother stuffing down such a mediocre plain jane run-of-the-mill donut like one from Tim Horton's?

The comparison to McDonald's is wrong. McDonald's has a unique tasting burger and fries that you won't find anywhere else. I'd say convenience is less of a reason people go there (there's fast food spots everywhere), nostalgia is the real reason.

It's like McDonalds... It's not that they make a great burger, it's because it's convenient.

Man, I fucking love McDonalds. Nothing beats their fries. Costco ones come second.

I think people who buy Timmy's doughnuts are just doing it out of convenience.

I do like McD and I just had it today. I really only eat their chicken and qtr pounder though.

McDs and Tims are both crap, but at least Tims doesn't make me feel sick afterwards. Granted I don't like donuts either so fancy ones or Timmies ones are all meh to me.

Speaking of McD and doughnuts, I haven't even tried their Lil donuts. Looks like Tim Bits wannabes. There has been numerous promotions for them on the McD app and coupons but never got around to trying them. Are they as crappy as Timmies?

Bought a bag when they first came out, had to throw them out, couldn't even finish one.

that's weird i had a half dozen few weeks ago and thought they were better than timmy's. mind you i don't eat a lot of sweets/pastries so sugar is a treat for me.

i'd eat them over timbits tbh

Completely different topic, anyone know whats a good price/place for seasonal wheel/tire storage? See ads from dealerships and places like Kaltire etc about it but imagine they're more interested in customers that bought the wheels/tires from them...

i recall my friend used this service, i think kal tire it was ~$100-150/year i think, but he also bought his tires from there, and paid to have them swapped over as well so not sure if that was the price for using the full extent of their services.

My bro had his stored at the VW dealer on Main. No idea how much it costed, saves the hassle of storing it at your garage and bringing them to dealer to mount during turnover season, I guess.

probably best to call customer service and clarify & also check on pricing.

stupidity to the max
Big company like Aritzia, instead of dealing directly with office equipment supplier, will send you a cheque, and have you pay for it, in EMT, not credit card... r u serious?
Bank gave her money back, when it's 1000% her fault....

I watched the video so how does scam work? It looks like:

1. Fake company sends girl an etransfer of ~ $3K
2. Then she buys office equipment & notebook (how? To Staples, Bestbuy, or computer store?),
3. Then she finds out her etransfer from fraud company bounced.
4. Office equipment store doesn't honour her order because she didn't have balance to cover?

So how does original fake company/scammer benefit from that?

Scammer benefits because they are both fake companies.

No.

1. Fake company sends girl a CHEQUE for ~$3K, she deposits.
2. Fake company tells girls to "buy" equipment from a specified office supplier site, which is set up by fake company to look legitimate, and pay for the equipment using the money she deposited.
3. Girl buys equipment from fake site, using her own money.
4. Cheque bounces, there is no equipment coming, and she sent fake office supplier site money already.
5. Cries to media for being stupid.

I'm not always sure of the age groups of people on this forum, I started on here when I was like 23 or something and now I'm 40+........... but I have noticed amongst my coworkers who are in this girl's age group that they seem to have the idea in their head that everyone is inherently good and that people like me are judging and hurting society when I warn them that not everyone has good intentions.

I expect to see a lot more of this type of stuff :)

I'm sure naivete played a role here, but in my mind it's just people not knowing what's happening around them, or even things like banks holding cheques for 5 business days until it clears.

She said she saw the amount in her account, but I say that's BS. It may have showed the deposit amount on her statement but there's no way the funds were accessible until it cleared - some banks provide a "buffer" for cheques for immediate access but that's usually a low amount like ~$500 and they make it pretty clear you're on the hook if you're overdrawn.

donk.

In this day of ATM's and Phone Deposits. Entirely possible that they just saw "deposited" and assumed it was all good.
Having worked in retail banking for a good number of years, its unfortunately most often the age groups at the extreme spectrums that either have no insight into how banking actually works and how to protect yourself... or think they know how banking/the world works and continually shoot themselves in the foot.

Do Openroad sales have access to other brands?

Ie. Can an Openroad Toyota sales order a Civic
Can an Openroad Honda sales rep order a Tiguan?

I know it was possible when it was Richmond Acura vs. Richmond Honda back then. But not sure about Openroad.

My understanding of OpenRoad, is yes*.

Your salesguy will have a friend salesguy in the other dealer and they split commission, etc. So Fred at openroadVW can't order a Civic directly, but he can ask Bob at openroadHonda to help, etc.

But then...why wouldn't you just go to the right dealership? You can always ask for sales rep references.

Not that it had any bearing on upholding the right to self defense, but it would be interesting to see the reaction of the jurors when they learn the criminal histories of Kyle's attackers, especially convicted pedophile Rosenbaum.

That's a really fucking stupid thing to say honestly.

Did Rittenhouse have a satellite relaying google searches on everyone he looked at that night to determine who was more worth shooting than anyone else? The jurors are going to be like "Oh okay yah good that confirms our verdict, one of them was a piece of shit anyway I'm glad he's dead"?!

Apparently you can't separate the issues in your own mind. If they have any reaction at all, it's beside the point because even if they DID know during the trial, it should have zero bearing whatsoever on their decision.

So many people that are thanking the justice system for prevailing on the side this fucking incel piece of shit are the same people that dig up George Floyd’s past saying he deserved die anyways.
People only get a fair trial if they align with your political motives and in so many other cases, if they are part of the white brotherhood these people are a part of.
Yeah the victims were white, but they were at a BLM riot, so they aren’t part of the klan these people identify with. Yes I spelled Klan correctly if you’re questioning it.

If by the letter of the law, he’s innocent, then he’s innocent and you can say justice prevailed. Opinions and feelings shouldn’t come into factor. He’s obviously a peice of shit but if the way the laws are written say he’s innocent, he shouldn’t be found guilty over public opinion.

I didn’t think there was any chance he’d not get convicted of at least 1 charge, I even lost $100 bet over it. Crazy
