for all you starbucks fans out there, there is a free hazel macchiato offer going around the internet. what you need to know is that there are only 2 valid forms of vouchers to grab the drink for free. it either has to be a voucher handed out to you by a barista OR an actual eGift from starbucks (an email from starbucks stating you have a free hazel macchiato drink).
got a lot of pissed off customers coming in complaining about starbucks not honoring it. well, we can't honor whats not valid.

Already in the freebies thread buddy.
But thanks for the heads up, we all know that already, but some guys are still trying their luck. I bet you the customers already know it's not valid, but figure, maybe a hissy fit will get them the free macchiato. Disgusting if they do. You, as an employee, should have the power to tell'em to fuck off and never come back.
I didn't even try... not worth the hassle. I'd rather spend my time cashing in 5 dollar coupons at Canadian Tire, LOL.
Brutal line ups. And, no eye candy whatsoever. Just c-lai's who shouldn't be wearing lycra/spandex.

Being a store manager of a Starbucks in Vancouver we already do too much for customers, there is no way anyone is going to get a free macchiato from me, no matter the hissy fit. I'll just look at them like..

Those of you who have hardwired your dashcam directly into your car,
Did you cut the wire just before the cigarette adaptor plug, and just solder the bare wires into a new circuit?
Does the cigarette plug serve as a inverter/power adaptor, or is it just a plug?
Thanks :D

It's just a plug. However, I suggest you buy a cigarette plug extender and cut that, leaving the dashcam's cigaratte plug alone. That's what did in case I decide to sell the unit later. Also, if it's a Blackvue, you can buy extra mounts and adapter cords for using your dashcam in other vehicles. I guess in that case you can always buy an extra adapter cord when selling the unit. No big deal either way.......

Teens these days...
Two teenage girls are facing a number of charges after a stabbing spree at SkyTrain stations around the Lower Mainland last night.
It started at Gateway Station around 11:30 p.m. The 14- and 15-year-old girls apparently got into a fight with two other women outside the station.
Anne Drennan with Transit Police says the one of the older women involved in the argument was stabbed. The teens then got back onto the train to Columbia Station.
Drennan tells us the girls are accused of then confronting a woman on the train, “threatening her with an eight-inch serrated steak knife and stabbing a train seat.”
It didn’t end there; the girls and the victim got off at Columbia Station, where the same woman was punched. The teens then rode to Joyce Station, where a man holding a pizza box was stabbed.
Two teens arrested after stabbings on SkyTrain | News1130 (http://www.news1130.com/2013/03/19/two-teens-arrested-after-stabbings-on-skytrain/)
Even more WTF...
The 14 and 15-year-olds have a combined total of 142 run-ins with police. Part of their court conditions include a prohibition from using the public transit system.

What the fuck???? ^
I was at Aberdeen this morning. Parked the car across from row of handicapped parking stalls. Out of four occupied spots, only one vehicle had a handicapped sign on display. I watched one woman with a toddler park in one spot (no sign), while I see this fairly young dude run to his vehicle to get something. It's the one vehicle with the handicap sign hanging from rear view mirror. I go check it out. It's got a name on it. Helen Zhang, LOLOLOL.
I have a dashcam, so perhaps I should send footage to SPARC BC.
I don't give a rat's ass what people do, but there's a reason why there are handicapped stalls - it's for people with real disabilities.
And no, bcrdukes, don't say it..... the guy is a douche, though. hee hee

Handicap signs aren't just for the driver. If the car has a passenger who is handicapped, then that is ok too. For example, my grandma is eligible for a handicap sign, so she gets one......if i'm ever driving her, I'm allowed to park in the handicap spot, of course with the sign displayed. So the guy may not be a douche....maybe he drove Helen

I have four or five 32 gb cards that I rotate through. I sometimes forget to empty trash, but never forget to put card back. I also check, via car monitor, if date is correct and if camera is pointed correctly as soon as it fires up. Plus, the Blackvue talks to me in Korean if I forget the card or the card isn't reading properly.
I only check footage if car has been in public parking lots. At work, nothing happens and car is in garage when I get home.
On trips, the dashcam becomes my electronic journal. If only I had the Blackvue on my trip across North America two summers ago.

Police Chase Down Man For Filming Police Abuse, Enter His Home
Omaha, NE Police using excessive force - YouTube
Police officers in Omaha, Nebraska were caught on tape violently arresting a man over a parking dispute by grabbing him by his neck in a choke hold and flipping him over slamming him on the ground. The man, 28-yr-old Octavius Johnson, did not appear to be resisting, and the officer grabbed him from behind and choked and slammed him seemingly without warning.
As the abuse is taking place, the victim's brother, Juaquez, who is understandably in a state of shock pulls out his cell phone to record the police's actions, after a minor tussle with one of the officers, he is finally let go to film the incident from the sidewalk across the street from the action.
Throughout the incident Juaquez is vocally voicing his displeasure with the way the police are abusing his brother, which apparently gets one of the cops quite angry.
Eventually, after facing a lot of hostility from one of the officers, and faced with an army of police showing up for "backup," Juaquez decides to run away from the scene into his own home.
Amazing, the same angry cop decides to chase Juaquez into his own home

need to accumulate 10 points or more within a certain time frame, i guess how ever long the points stay on your record. 3-5 years?
is this correct, if you get one speeding ticket worth 3 points you have to pay a driver risk premium? just wanted to clarify
You are fine as long as you are not over 3 points. Points erase within a year. A year in this case, starts with your birthday. Some people dispute their ticket in hopes of avoiding going over their 3 points allowed within the year. Court hearings can delay things for up to a year or more. I used to know all this stuff, but it's been a while since I've had to concern myself with the details, knock on wood.
It's all on ICBC's website.
ICBC | Driver Penalty Points (http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/tickets/dpp)
In my younger days, I remember racking up to 17 points, perhaps 19. Lucky for me, there were no premiums attached to the points back then when ICBC introduced the points thing. They just sent me to rehab......... driver refresher course - believe you me, that was torture in itself. Sitting through the most boring set of classes next to Economics 101. LOLOLOLOL

lol so been sitting on my balcony for a bit cuz such a nice night, theres a something flashing to the left of the north star for over a hour now. It's flashing red green blue and white, sorta in the knight and 41st area direction. Anyone see it?
edit: after googling and finding a utube video, it's actually a star, really cool bright strobing 4 color star. pretty neat.
Noticed that at Steveston last night, to the SW. Any more information? I can't find anything.

is it normal for landlord to visit the house to check up on the suite?
my condo landlord just called and ask if he could come by and "inspect".
I was kinda shocked, never had a landlord ask for this.
I have nothing to hide but kinda wtf....
Landlord has the right to conduct an inspection of the rental unit no less than every 30 days if he or she would like to. However, the landlord IS required to give you 24 hour notice prior to entry (as Graeme pointed out).
WE usually don't do every 30 days as its a huge pain in the ass...we usually do a yearly inspection that coincides with the yearly fire inspection. IF we suspect something is happening in the suite, we will conduct a random inspection (with 24 hour notice, of course).
On a personal side, when I was renting...the apt was managed by a private rental company (was a private building-not rental building) and the owner would request a yearly inspection.
It is not rare and these inspections SHOULD happen to avoid shit going down in your neighbour's apt.

Yall should say hi next time you drop by :hay:. And good luck finding any bento after the lunch rush.
If you've got a few minutes to spare, try ordering a freshly deep fried pork or chicken katsu with a few hundred grams of hot rice. Pair it with some stuff from the deli like some goma-ae or mixed vegs. Best $5-7 lunch.

The car odometer is reacting slower than the car's actual speed. It happened out of nowhere as I was leaving school and noticed it stayed at 0 when I was travelling at around 10-15km/h. The problem also exists when I'm slowing down (speed is displayed faster than I am travelling).
Anyone have an idea of what happened? Is it just an internal issue that I probably have to bring it in to get fixed?

Was going to bleed my brakes today, but I also need to replace a solid brake line over top of the rear different. It goes from the rear passenger side caliper to a 3 way connector. Which connect the driver side rear caliper and the main solid line from the front of the truck.
Does the whole system need to be drained in order to replace the line. Then completely refill the master cylinder and fill the lines?

Just remove the line and keep the cap on the res. only a bit will leak out. Then just bleed as normal till no bubbles are left when the new line is in. If you drain the system it will take FOREVER to bleed it properly.

http://www.theprovince.com/cms/binary/8212285.jpg
Annette Funicello, 70, Dies; Beloved as a Mouseketeer and a Star of Beach Movies
Annette Funicello, who won America’s heart as a 12-year-old in Mickey Mouse ears, captivated adolescent baby boomers in slightly spicy beach movies and later championed people with multiple sclerosis, a disease she had for more than 25 years, died on Monday in Bakersfield, Calif. She was 70.
Her death, from complications of the disease, was announced on the Disney Web site.
As an adult Ms. Funicello described herself as “the queen of teen,” and millions around her age agreed. Young audiences appreciated her sweet, forthright appeal, and parents saw her as the perfect daughter.
She was the last of the 24 original Mouseketeers chosen for “The Mickey Mouse Club,” the immensely popular children’s television show that began in 1955, when fewer than two-thirds of households had television sets. Walt Disney personally discovered her at a ballet performance.
Before long, she was getting more than 6,000 fan letters a week, and was known by just her first name in a manner that later defined celebrities like Cher, Madonna and Prince.
Sometimes called “America’s girl next door,” she nonetheless managed to be at the center of the action during rock ’n’ roll’s exuberant emergence. She was the youngest member of Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars tour, which included LaVern Baker, the Drifters, Bobby Rydell, the Coasters and Paul Anka. Mr. Anka, her boyfriend, wrote “Puppy Love” for her in her parents’ living room.
As a Mouseketeer, she received a steady stream of wristwatches, school rings and even engagement rings from young men, all of which she returned. She wrote in her 1994 autobiography, “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” that irate mothers often wrote back to say “how hard Johnny or Tommy had worked to save the money for the gift and how dare I return it?”
She said that if she had charm (she undeniably had modesty), it was partly a result of her shyness. Mr. Disney begged her to call him Uncle Walt, but she could manage only “Mr. Disney.” (She could handle “Uncle Makeup” and “Aunt Hairdresser.”)

Porn Addict Hospitalized After Trapped Giant Eel Gnaws Through His Digestive Tract : News : Counsel & Heal (http://www.counselheal.com/articles/4851/20130411/porn-addict-hospitalized-trapped-giant-eel-gnaws-through-digestive-tract.htm)
A Chinese porn addict is now recovering in hospital after undergoing intensive surgery to extract a giant live eel that had gnawed its way up his digestive tract after he shoved it up his anus.
The 39-year-old man from China's southeastern Guangdong province had reportedly rushed himself to a local hospital after his attempts to recreate a kinky scene he saw in a porn video went horribly wrong. At the hospital be pleaded with medics to help save him from the 20-inch eel chewing up his intestines.
"Please, please help me. The eel is moving through my body," he said, according to The Sun.
After enduing all-night surgery, doctors successfully extracted the 20-inch Asian swamp eel from the man's body.
According to Huffington Post, the eel reportedly gnawed through the man's colon, perforating his large intestine, and became stuck in his body cavity.
Members of the medical team explained that the eel, was "simply trying to find its way out," according to The Sun.
"It was still alive when we got it out but it died soon afterwards, which was probably a mercy," the medical team member said. "This was a particularly idiotic stunt and could have caused him a serious injury. Eels have small but very sharp teeth."
However, the nightmare isn't over for the 39-year-old porn addict. According to The Sun, a police spokesman said authorities plan to interview the man over alleged animal cruelty.

I got a pair of pretty pricey earphones for christmas and have been using them for the gym since then. (about 5 months now)
when i first got them, the cable was super soft but now they have gotten a bit stiff. apparently from exposure to oils/sweat.
anyone know how to soften them back up? i wash them once in a while because they are waterproof and i do use dish soap to get rid of the oils

"In 2015, when the library reclaims the eighth and ninth floors from the provincial government, it will begin a massive renovation that will incorporate the two extra floors and make the roof accessible to the public.
The central library has been given the green light from the city to start planning its long-awaited “garden in the sky,” a multi-level outdoor area featuring 16,000 square feet of new public space, including an 8,000 square-foot garden.
So far, the plan is to turn the eighth floor into more indoor community spaces, and the ninth into an area with a grand reading room, two outdoor terraces and a staircase up to the outdoor garden."

Photo of 1939 Jay-Z look-alike surfaces online
Did Jay-Z travel back to the 1930s to do research for his "Great Gatsby" soundtrack?
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library posed the question on its blog and Facebook page this week, after curators noticed that a 1939 photo of a man in Harlem bore an uncanny resemblance to the 43-year-old rapper and mogul.
The black-and-white photograph, snapped by a man named Sid Grossman, shows one man leaning on a railing and staring directly at the camera.
“I was immediately struck by the similarity to Jay-Z and actually laughed out loud," said Sylviane A. Diouf, Schomburg’s Curator of Digital Collections. "I still hope somebody will tell us who that young man really was.”

Apparently there was some thunder and lightning today. I was in Point Roberts so I missed it.
We never get good thunderstorms here because the atmosphere is too stable (our airflow comes off the Pacific which is like 15 degrees in summer. For those wondering, thunderstorms are so intense east of the Rockies because the airflow comes off the Gulf of Mexico, which is warm enough to fuel hurricanes). I think the last storm of note was last August, it was the first time I saw forked lightning in Vancouver in about three years. And Seattle got rocked hard for two weeks in July.
For thunder 2009 was better though...massive cracks and gunshots. Scary shit. It was like an Alberta-strength storm. Plus it was fireworks night and the sky turned orange.
Nothing beats the storm we got around BC Day 1999 though. I was only 8 at the time but I'll remember it for the rest of my life. I remember it had been storming all night and well into the next morning. The afternoon was warm and humid and then around 4pm the skies opened up with some of the loudest thunder I have ever heard.
Of course, that was just Vancouver. I've experienced summers in Chicago and Washington DC, and rainy seasons in Ethiopia...whoof.
What are your Vancouver thunderstorm memories?
