Will there be enough sales to pay rent? it's such a large space it would be a great idea to have some kinda place where people can watch the games as well. Less of a pub and more of a family atmosphere maybe?

Its only 52000 sqft, only slightly bigger than the sportchek at metrotown and richmond, and about the same size as Park royal.
And with it spread over 3 floors it won't feel too big when the reno is done.

As for rent, I'm sure it will be fine, I currently work at a location with the second most expensive lease in the company and we are fine with it comes to bottom line. I can't foresee that spot on Robson to be much more than my lease at my store now.

I think its a good idea since it sounds like the Pacific center stores are being pushed out. It's a perfect location and its a super nice store. I'm just very curious what the rents going to be tho since it is Robson street and all.

Yea Holt paid ctc a very large sum of money (8 figures) to ask sportchek to vacate.
As for rent, I'm gonna guess no more than 200k/month

Thread from 2001 and the release of the iPod: Apple's New Thing (iPod) - MacRumors Forums (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=500)

I have no use for an Mp3 player.

My house has a CD player.
My car has a CD player.
My Mac has a CD player.

uhm, no. Won't last.

Any way you spin this it is:
1. Not revolutionary. Big capacity mp3 players already exist. With Creative Labs' entrance into the firewire arena, future nomads will have similar specs and better prices.
2. A bad fit. This product is outside Apple's core competancy - computing devices. When many are calling for a pda, they release an MP3 player.
3. Without a future. This Christmas you will see mp3 players be commoditized. Meaning that the players from Korea will be way less expensive tha iPod. The real money is in DRM and distribution (ala Real Musicnet). If Apple were smart they would be focusing on high gross revenue from services rather than a playback device.

Just a short 14 years later, the entire category of a dedicated MP3 player is pretty much obsolete.

Can someone teach me on the N and L stickers??

We don't have that in AB and I know L means learning, N means novice.. but I see a lot of older people with N and even really expensive cars with N.

So.. when I switch to BC plates would I have to get an N? I've been driving for 11 years but I lost my license twice, for a month each time, due to demerits.
How long do you have to have that N on your car for?

I've googled it a little bit but a lot of is just articles on fighting the N sticker and how BC should get rid of it

There's info on this on icbc's site. From my understanding, since you have 11 years when you surrender your AB license, you'll get the full BC license (class 5).

The N is novice, and is had for the two years following. After which the person can complete a second road test for their class 5.

The older ppl you see with N's may be immigrants who never had a license prior to immigrating, so they go through the whole licensing process

...well, not exactly, but...

Speed limits on certain hwys are so ridiculous. The thing I couldn't believe when I moved back to BC was they now have 90kmh limit on HWY1?!?

And the fact that NO vehicle on HWY1 actually follow that limit makes me think that someone is trolling hard in the provincial govt.

I'd say given the advances in sensor technology, we should have flexible speed limit system that basically just calculate the flow of traffic and impose both maximum and minimum speeds every hour or so. Those who are not following the traffic flow speed are the one posing risks, not the general population that's going above limit.

Russia in color, a century ago | Photos | The Big Picture | Boston.com (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/08/russia_in_color_a_century_ago.html)

They are the only set of its kind. High res COLOUR pictures taking in russia over 100 years ago

From the article:

"With images from southern and central Russia in the news lately due to extensive wildfires, I thought it would be interesting to look back in time with this extraordinary collection of color photographs taken between 1909 and 1912. In those years, photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944) undertook a photographic survey of the Russian Empire with the support of Tsar Nicholas II. He used a specialized camera to capture three black and white images in fairly quick succession, using red, green and blue filters, allowing them to later be recombined and projected with filtered lanterns to show near true color images. The high quality of the images, combined with the bright colors, make it difficult for viewers to believe that they are looking 100 years back in time - when these photographs were taken, neither the Russian Revolution nor World War I had yet begun. Collected here are a few of the hundreds of color images made available by the Library of Congress, which purchased the original glass plates back in 1948."

$13.5M-winning lottery ticket bought 7 seconds late invalid, top court decides - Montreal - CBC News (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/13-5m-winning-lottery-ticket-bought-7-seconds-late-invalid-top-court-decides-1.2936338)
A Quebec man who bought a winning lottery ticket seven seconds too late has lost his Supreme Court of Canada bid to appeal a decision that has denied him half of the $27-million prize.

Ifergan bought two Super 7 tickets on May 23, 2008, just before the 9 p.m. cutoff. (Super 7 was replaced by Lotto Max in 2009.)

The first ticket was printed showing the May 23 date — that night's draw. However, the second ticket, with the winning numbers for that night's $27-million jackpot, was printed after a few seconds' delay, showing a date for the following week's draw on May 30.

Ifergan claims the delay was caused by Loto-Québec's central computer system, and believes he's entitled to half the jackpot.

He sued the province’s lottery regulator for what he felt was his half of the jackpot. However, his attempts to bring it to Quebec courts were rejected.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to accept his appeal, with cost.

I bet there ain't many people in the world that can say they've gotten into an accident on the highway... with an airplane.

When the driver radioed the dispatch center, they thought the driver was crazy after hearing him saying "I just crashed with an airplane".

But honestly, I think it was the plane's problem. Because according to the tower's radio recording, the pilot reported "flameout" shortly after takeoff (meaning the engines were gone) and he basically did everything he could to avoid crashing the plane into one of the many buildings nearby (it was taken off from TSA, which is an airport located within the densely populated city of Taipei) by sticking its sliding course along the river line.

Anyone know how traffic court works? I have a hearing tomorrow at 9:30 and have been assigned a court room. Do I just go in at 9:30 or do I need to register somewhere saying I'm here.

More importantly, do I only know if the cop shows up a few minutes beforehand? LOL

Yeah just go to the courtroom your assigned too. You'll see the officer there as well if he shows up. You can chat up a storm with the officer and try to get them to drop it.

You'll want to check if there's a significant difference in cost between GEB and PMB. I know the latter has a monthly rate but I'm not sure if it's enough to make you want to take a longer route. Pitt/Lougheed, Lougheed/Colony Farms and the on-ramp to Hwy1 can all get pretty busy.

If you're taking GEB, you can either go Kingsway, straight to MHB or left at CMO and loop around to Lougheed, depends how bad the left onto MHB is.

Furances have thermo couples as well, try to see if you are getting a spark from it and if not remove it, take it to home depot and try to match it up. Should hopefully be an easy fix

GEB is $3.05 with the sticker (this ends up being $122/mth)
PM is $3 (or $150/mth) I don't think the monthly makes sense though because even if I pay the $3/trip ($6/day * 5 days = $30/week * 4 weeks = $120/mth) it ends up cheaper since I would only use it mon-fri. (unless I did my math wrong O.o)

I'd have to go out of my way and basically backtrack to get to the PM from where I live. Easier for me to get to GEB.

I was considering the kingsway to the bypass route because I thought lougheed would be super hairy in the morning.

Little Demon V8

The Little Demon is a 8 cylinder, 4 stroke engine with a bore and stroke of 5/8 for 1.5 Cubic inches. It has a splash oil system and is water cooled. It has a flat tappet, solid lift camshaft with roller tip rockers.

After building the Peewee V4 I wanted to take it up a notch. I have always had as one of my goals to build a V8. I borrowed the general dimensions from the Peewee. The bore and stroke, and block profile. From there it had to be changed to accommodate the modern style heads. Bore spacing was also changed to accommodate all the intake and exhaust passages.

PAL holder here.

The JIBC is a great course IMO, it may be "harder" than the average but that's because they are actually trying to teach you something instead of some random dude in his basement who basically gives you a free passing grade.

If you have common sense and pay attention to the material it's quite easy. Note taking helps too. Just remember your ACTS and PROVEs and you'll do great for the practical portion of the test. And also remember to keep the barrel of the gun pointing downrange at an angle nearly parallel to the floor at ALL times. Good luck!

If you have at least 2 continuous years of: plan membership; membership withthe UFCW; or, service with a participating employer, and you have some pension credited to you, you can choose to:

✔ leave your pension in the Pension Plan and have your pension paid to you at a later date; or

✔ transfer the value of your pension to another registered pension plan, (if that plan permits), an insurance company to purchase an annuity, or a personal retirement savings arrangement, if you meet certain age requirements, as specified by pension legislation in your province.

Please note that if your pension is deemed to be a “small pension”, you may receive a lump-sum payment

Anyone know what a small pension is?

I have 1.60 years of credited service, with $60.55 of estimated monthly pension (that works out to be $726.60 per year)

I quit Superstore a few years back, and just wanted to see if I could get some funds back that I put towards this Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan.

hey guys I want some opinions on a ae86 that i want to buy

is 4000 dollars a good price for a ae86 with a rocker panel that has been eaten thru by rust?

there are also a bunch of other areas that has some surface rust on the hood, trunk, sunroof and the front right fender. he treated the areas with tremclad anti rust on it already

mechanically the car is fantastic, engine revs like a charm, no play in the shifter, little to no squeeks and rattles when going over speed bumps and sewer covers as well.

what are your thoughts guys? :accepted:

Overpriced IMO, if you're really interested in it price out the mods and divide by 2, then add maybe a grand (generous) for a rusty stock 86. I'm guessing you'll land under $2k which is still generous IMO.

I currently have my Class 5 license and I am wondering how many months it takes from doing the knowledge test to actually being able to ride one alone?

Tone Loc

Some call it "drift tax", others call it "appreciation". There are less and less AE86 every year, and prices aren't likely to go down anytime soon with the resurgence of the economy and more people wanting a "fun second car/project". During the 2008s recession, these cars were selling for next to nothing because people were losing disposable income. Now that the economy is getting somewhat better the reverse is occurring.

That being said, $4000 is a decent price for an AE86 (with respect to the market, not my own ideas of "value") provided it has next to no rust and it is mechanically sound. Mechanically, these cars are simple and can be easily repaired with basic tools, but bodywork + paint are the more costly fixes and don't provide any real returns come selling time whereas modifications can always be parted out. Or worse, if you get into a collision, ICBC isn't going to pay $4000 for what is - in their eyes - a rusty shitbox 80s Toyota Corolla. The parts can always be sold to recoup the loss, but the $$ spent on bodywork is irretrievable.

EDIT: http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/1987-corolla-gts-Moving-sell_24203053?preview=edit&new=true

Considering this one is selling for $3000 and looks to have a significantly higher amount of rust as well as no modifications, $4000 is pretty fair. I recently sold a 1987 SR5 hatchback with zero rust and fresh paint for $2750, pretty decent when it would likely take $1000-$2000 to GTS swap it, or probably 2-3x that to swap in a more powerful engine and GTS drivetrain components.

http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/4884383742.html

http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/cto/4900590392.html

These are all selling for $6k+. Personally, I'd go for a car with a clean body and fresh paint simply because it's something I can't cheaply do myself.... just my $0.02.

underscore
03-11-2015, 07:39 AM
People are free to ask whatever they like for a car, that doesn't mean it'll sell for that. Those postings are fairly old and the guy asking for $8k is smoking crack.

During the 2008s recession, these cars were selling for next to nothing because people were losing disposable income. Now that the economy is getting somewhat better the reverse is occurring.

That's exactly why you shouldn't pay a retardedly high price for a car like this, if the interest dies down you'll lose your ass on it because you won't be able to sell it for much more than scrap value.

This is incorrect.

14 days after your knowledge test is passed you can do your MST at ICBC and remove the supervision restriction.

30 days after passing your knowledge test you can take your Class 6 road test which gives you a full Motorcycle license.

This is providing you have your full Class 5 license (which you said you do).

It's gonna be hard. I have to sand down the old bad clear and respray it. Once the base has been touched, it has to be re sprayed.

So sadly, u have to repaint the roof. That's the proper way of doing it

Few days old now, but just heard about it

So a comic book artist, Rafael Albuquerque, was tasked with drawing a variant cover (limited) for the Batgirl comic, supposedly he came out with an initial cover but was told by the powers that be @ DC to make it more 'extreme'

Anyway he drew this cover with the Joker and Batgirl, an homage to one of the most controversial but popular Batman/Batgirl storylines called 'the killing joke' (ca. 1988)

The Killing Joke is a storyline where The Joker shoots Batgirl in the spine (crippling her), strips her, and then sends pics of it to her father (Commissioner Gordon)

Here's the homage cover, keep in mind the Batman comic-verse is currently fighting The Joker so it isn't just an homage but relevant

http://www.nerdythingsthatdontsuck.com/NTTDS/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/batgirl_jokercover.jpg

Feminists and White Knights on twitter and the blogosphere went in an uproar saying the cover depicts violence against women :crazy2: and that the gun resting on Batgirls shoulder is pointed at her pussy :crazy2: indicating that The Joker is going to rape her...

The uproar was so huge that the variant cover got pulled by request of the artist

Here's one of the many angry articles about it http://www.nerdythingsthatdontsuck.com/NTTDS/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/batgirl_jokercover.jpg

I have a cadbury chocolate bar still in its packaging, unopened, expired a few weeks ago.
It was stored in the fridge for about a year.

Long story short, I got it from a customer at work, and it was melting cuz it was summer, so I put it in the work fridge and forgot about it until someone brought it to my attention.

?If You Touch This Plant It Will Make You Vomit In Pure Agony (http://io9.com/if-you-touch-this-plant-it-will-make-you-vomit-in-pure-1693770289)

The Gympie Gympie is an Australian plant with spindly stems and heart-shaped light green leaves. Brushing your hand against it can make you throw up from the pain. Using it as toilet paper has made people shoot themselves. This plant will ruin you.

The Gympie Gympie: Endangered or Endangering?

The Gympie Gympie has broad, flat leaves that rise on a series of surprisingly delicate stems. It can grow to be only a few feet tall. Botanists believe that its fast growth rate and wide leaves make it ideal for the small, sunlit gaps in the otherwise thick canopy of a forest. Its habitat is limited to a few patches of lowland rainforest around Queensland in Australia. Rainforests are shrinking, the climate is changing, and the Gympie has recently become an endangered plant.

Many would say that endangering the Gympie Gympie is a job well begun. This innocuous-looking greenery is one of the most feared plants in the world. Its sting is so agonizing that a slight brush to the hand from one of the leaves can make a person throw up from the pain.

Not that the leaves are the only dangerous part. Only the roots of the Gympie are free of the fine hairs that lodge in the skin and deliver the sting. Every subsequent moment of pressure on the hairs causes them to put out more poison into the skin. The pain feels like fire, and it lasts. As long as the hairs are embedded in the skin, the pain keeps coming. Stings from the Gympie cause the lymphatic system to go into overdrive. A person's throat, armpits, and groin swell up and ladle on the pain as the lymph nodes expand.

Just being around the Gympie hurts. It sheds its hairs continuously. Scientists believe that the stinging hairs keep the ground clear so it can take advantage of those sunny gaps in the canopy. Botanists working in the field go into sneezing fits and get nose bleeds from standing near the plant. Botanists who handle hundred-year-old specimens of Gympie still get stung.

Tales of the Killer Plant

Through the years, a few people have had extensive encounters with the plant. One man, who fell into a bush during World War II, was strapped to a hospital gurney, screaming, for three weeks. Another got hit in the chest in the late 1990s. For two years, his chest hurt every time he took a cold shower.

There are plenty of horror stories, one of which is more horrible than the rest, despite no one getting hurt. As the Gympie's fame spread, the military became interested in the tree. In the late 1960s, the British Army had people send them samples of the stinging tree for use as a chemical weapon. Nothing has been heard since then. (We assume everyone who was even casually involved with the project died and they had to dynamite the facility.)

The Gympie Gympie's Future

No one wants this plant in their back yard, along their hiking trail, or, ideally, on their planet. This might account for why the Gympie Gympie is vanishing. Another reason, astonishingly, might be food. The plant produces edible fruit, though the fruit has been called both "warty" and "bland." That's a sad reward for nerves of steel, which is what it takes to eat the purplish berries. First, the harvester has to dress up in a full coverall suit, including a plastic face-mask because the plant can irritate the eyes (one person compared it to having acid poured on his eyes). The harvester will then knock the fruit off the tree with a stick. The fruit has to be denuded of needles by being rubbed in layers and layers of cloth, which presumably can never be used again. Then comes the nasty part. Because the needles are so fine, they can't all be seen, so "A final rubbing with bare hands will detect any stinging hairs left before eating." Hurrah.

Those who run into the Gympie in the wild generally get treated with pain killers, but the stingers are both too fine and too numerous to be picked out by hand – particularly by someone screaming in pain. To get the needles out, people put the sticky parts of bandages, or home waxing strips, on their stings, and yank out the stingers the way they would real hairs.

Perhaps the Gympie Gympie knows how close it is to being wiped out. In 2014, two different trees have been found with all the parts seemingly intact, but with no toxin in the silica hairs on the leaves. Although no one is entirely sure what causes the overwhelming sting, scientists believe that it's a peptide called moroidin. Remove that one component, and the plant's ability to cause pain is gone. Exactly why the plant would lay down its arms is unknown, but perhaps one day it will only be an agonizing legend.

Australia :heckno:

it's also found in Indonesia and all those islands of SE asia
from wiki

Contact with the leaves or twigs causes the hollow, silica-tipped hairs to penetrate the skin. The sting causes an extremely painful stinging sensation which can last for days, weeks, or months, and the injured area becomes covered with small, red spots joining together to form a red, swollen mass. The sting is potent enough to kill humans, dogs, and horses[6], and is infamously agonizing. Stories tell of horses jumping off cliffs after being stung, and supposedly one Australian officer shot himself to escape the pain of a sting.[8] One man who was slapped in the face and torso with the foliage said, "For two or three days the pain was almost unbearable; I couldn’t work or sleep, then it was pretty bad pain for another fortnight or so. The stinging persisted for two years and recurred every time I had a cold shower. ... There's nothing to rival it; it's ten times worse than anything else."[8]

However, the sting does not stop several small marsupial species, including the red-legged pademelon, insects and birds from eating the leaves.

Update to Home Shipping Charges

First, I would like to thank you for being a Walmart.ca customer. In the 3 1/2 years since our launch, we have shipped millions of items to customers at their homes and at pickup locations across Canada in an effort to save Canadians time and money. One of our pillars has been free standard home shipping to most places in Canada, but in a few days we will make some changes to our home shipping charges to ensure we can continue to give you great service and everyday low prices on items your family wants or needs.

Later this week we will introduce a $50 threshold for free standard shipping on home delivery, excluding remote areas in Canada. Once you reach this threshold, you will qualify for free standard shipping orders on home delivery on everything, except large and oversized items. Any purchases under this threshold will cost $4.97 for standard shipping to your home. We will still offer free shipping to a pickup location, regardless of how much you spend, at more than 5,000 Canada Post locations across the country and Grab & Go lockers if you’re in the Greater Toronto Area. We are always focused on giving you the best value when it comes to shipping, and we believe this is still one of the best values in eCommerce in Canada while allowing us to drive savings in our operations to pass on to you.

Again, thank you for being a customer. If you would like any additional information on our new home shipping charges, please click here.

The prepaid envelope has an area code of V3B 9Z9, when it should be V3B 1A8.

Should I just write the correct area code under and hopefully it will make its way there?

Just not sure since I don't imagine they would have a stack of prepaid envelopes all with the wrong postal code.

Why not give them a call to make sure first?

What was the cost?

Hondaracer

Starts at $499 for 5 laps as a base price. Aventador is the most expensive car they have though

Then for another $80 you get two laps with a former nascar driver/professionL drifter in a moddded out Z06

They Has a special going where you could get 5 laps in a GTR for $199 as a second car

How long did 7 laps last?

Hondaracer
04-05-2015, 11:43 AM
A "good" time for a lap is a minute or under, so 7 laps total from getting in the car starting it up etc was about 15 minutes total.

There are other cars on the track but they space them out such that you rarely catch up to one another, I came up on a GTR on my second to last lap and the instructor gave me an additional lap because he held me up on 2 corners before I could pass on the straight

I haven't done the exotic racing in Vegas, but i did rent the new Corvette Stingray from Hertz for a day and took it out past Redrock Canyon, didnt go crazy fast, but it was a lot of fun.

The car was part of their dream car collection, but I reserved a standard, and paid for a daily upgrade, they wanted $300/day extra, I talked it down to $120, so paid $150 for 1 day, benefit was also that when you upgrade there is no KM limit.

They also had a Cayman, 911 and few other cars on the lot, you can also reserve Bentley, Lambo and Ferrari etc as well, but those you will not get a discount on, and comes with a very low KM limit.

It has been mentioned multiple times there are government people who want to tear down the Georgia Viaducts. I never really paid attention to the details but I'm completely oblivious why they want to do so.

Because the Aquilini's want to put in high rises where the viaducts are, so they've been lobbying for a long while now for them to get torn down and then all of a sudden the government comes out to say they're considering it because apparently we don't need them

Sleeping in Seattle! Airport employee FELL ASLEEP in cargo hold before plane took off... forcing plane to turn back when he woke up screaming | Daily Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3037778/Sleeping-Seattle-Airport-employee-FELL-ASLEEP-cargo-hold-plane-took-forcing-plane-turn-woke-screaming.html)

A Los Angeles-bound flight has returned to Seattle after it was discovered a worker had fallen asleep in the cargo hold before take-off.

Fourteen minutes after Alaska Airlines flight 448 took off on Monday, the pilot heard screaming and banging from beneath the aircraft.

The airline said in a news release the captain immediately returned to Seattle-Tacoma International and declared an emergency for priority landing.

Cardinal sin - kid did not make sure knot to handle on the inside of cymbal was tied securely. He did the next best thing. Girl playing the bass drum should be like the snare drum player and be cool, not act like a bimbo.

The leather strap may have snapped.

Shit happens...........

For a junior high band, they did alright. Too slow and lacking enthusiasm, but it's a mass band thing, so understandable.

But I'm looking to see what is the best place to get a party platter of sushi downtown. Looking for quality, I've already looked a Miku....but what's wondering what other options I had downtown... Maybe something slightly less pricy. But similar in quality .. Miku is $100 for 58 pcs.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on how it all went down, I wonder if the "teacher" would/should get cited or charged.

Which brings up another point: as shitty as a lot of drivers are, can you imagine them teaching other people how to drive? :fulloffuck:

Police Department

Just to clarify. You may need a letter from where you're looking to be hired as well. If it is a non-profit, more often than not, your fee gets waived.

But all you need to do is go to the RCMP Police Department and fill out a form and pay a fee (if it is not waived). Helps to have a letter for the purpose of the record check as some are more in-depth than others.
