So I'm currently looking for places to rent and the ads are asking for 1 year leases, 6 months etc.
Can someone school me on what I need to know about a lease? Is it basically a contract where I have to live there for the required time?

thats exactly what it is, so you can't decide you don't like it in two months and move out.

That's what i figured. So lets say that scenario does happen. Will I be "required" to pay a fee? Or will it depend on the landlord?

You can get out of a lease early, but there are rules and there may be additional costs.
Fixed-Term Tenancies
If a fixed-term tenancy agreement (or a lease) has a move-out clause that requires the tenant to move out at the end of the term, the tenant can move at the end of the term without giving the landlord notice.
When a fixed-term agreement doesn’t require the tenant to move out at the end of the term, the tenant must serve written notice to end the tenancy so that it’s received:
At least one month before the effective date of the notice, and
Before the day that rent is due
The effective date of the notice cannot be earlier than the end of the fixed term.
A fixed-term tenancy agreement that doesn’t require the tenant to move out at the end of the term will continue as a month-to-month tenancy under the same tenancy agreement if the tenant doesn’t give notice to end the tenancy.
Leaving Before the End of a Fixed Term
Written agreement is required to end a fixed-term tenancy early – both parties need to sign the document and keep a copy.
Mutual Agreement to End Tenancy (PDF, 1.6MB)
If a tenant ends a fixed-term tenancy early without the landlord’s permission, the tenant may have to reimburse the landlord for costs of re-renting the unit – like advertising or lost rent. The landlord must do their best to limit these costs by trying to rent the unit as soon as possible. Sometimes a fixed-tenancy agreement includes a “liquidated damages” term that requires the tenant to pay to end the tenancy early.
Policy Guideline – Liquidated Damages (PDF)
A tenant may ask the landlord for written permission to sublet or assign the tenancy agreement to someone else.

I live within walking distance of NASA's Johnson Space Centre ("Houston" in "Houston, we have a problem") and aside from some wet socks, we're doing ok down here. I'm lucky but I know there are a bunch of people out there who aren't. There wasn't a lot of warning for this one and it didn't get bad here until late last night. I hope that the worst of it has passed though.

Also I find service of CT is actually pretty good.

you can get this putty type stuff at staples that doesn't ruin the pin and you put it on the back of the posters and it will stick to the wall. The stuff is awesome
They're called Sticky Tack.
They leave a bit of oily residue on your walls after five or more years, but not that noticeable.

Try Quiet Muffler its on Kingsway in Burnaby before Mufflerman.
When I had my Infiniti, I did an exhaust upgrade and was quoted hundreds of dollars by Quiet Muffler to have the muffler taken out and install a new one. The hooks and everything were in place and it was a straight swap with a few welds.
I went to Mufflerman to do the job instead and about 1.5 years later the welded areas were cracked and I had an exhaust leak.
With this exhaust leak, I figure I'd just put back my OEM exhaust since I was planning to sell the car. This time I tried Quiet Muffler again to see wutsup. I didn't see that old prick (previous owner) but I did chat with some of the guys there and found out there was a new owner. He was a straight shooter and didn't give me that BS crap like "this is a complicated weld blah blah blah...".
He quoted $60 dollars for the job and they took their time to make sure it was all good before lowering the hoist.

Scammers and spammers are frustrating because Facebook doesn't take any action in eliminating them. They leave it to you to block them, which doesn't help prevent other people from being exposed to it. I've found that at least they 'care' about fake profiles. It's pretty satisfying to see them removed from Facebook.
To report fake profiles:
1. Click on the name to get to their Facebook page
2. Click on the 3 dots next to Follow and Message
3. Click Report
4. Select Report this Profile and click Continue
5. Select This is a Fake Profile and click Continue
6. Select Other and click Continue
7. Click Submit to Facebook for Review
At some point, you'll receive notification on the action that Facebook decides to take. It's nice to see the scammers get banned.

i seriously contemplated quitting facebook, but i figured i'd send em a redacted version of my BCDL with just my name and my picture. If that didn't work, fuck it, i can live without facebook. It worked. But to this day, it just blew my fucking mind that they thought my facebook was a fake account and needed it verified. My name is nowhere close to celebrities and I've 9 years worth of pictures, videos and shenanigans up on my profile. How stupid do you have to be to look at an account and determine that needs verification despite the overwhelming evidence that it's real.

I was driving on East on Charles St. towards Commercial Drive yesterday (a block before Grandview Park) when I saw 2 cars stopped in front of me. They both got out of their cars and were talking, so I thought they were being assholes and blocking the road. Before I could honk the horn, one of the guys started to throw punches. There was another man that was coming from the opposite direction and stopped to tell them that they're blocking traffic. I just sat there as they started throwing punches for a good 15-20 seconds. Cars started to back up behind me and they eventually got back into their cars and drove off.
Both of them didn't land a single punch and the car in front almost cause the guy behind him to rear end him. I think he did it on purpose because he kind of slammed on the brakes at the 4 way stop. I can only imagine what would happen if they actually got into that rear ender :lol

Glow, that was the one I was thinking of, but couldn't remember lol.
Wanted to scare some crows off the property a few days ago, so got out my old (as in 35+ years) Crosman 357 air gun. After scrambling for pellets and a cartridge, the thing jammed on me - I swear I heard the crow laughing at me as all I got was a "click".
I decided to get a new one. I guess I could have tried to fix the damn thing, but I went to CT and got me a newer 357 model called the Vigilante. I used to go plinking often in my younger days and miss it. Anyway, everywhere I went they were 99 bucks CAD. Cheap in the US, but wasn't going to bother.
Yesterday, a Princess Auto flyer shows up in the mail and lo and behold, the Vigilante is on sale for 58 freaking bucks! Sale starts today, but they gave me the advertised price a day early. Now gonna go return the one I got from CT. If they match the price, I'll keep it. Good to have a spare one for that price.
those crows are mean bastards and they remember and gang up. coworker's neighbour went and attacked a few crows (was wearing high vis jacket)... and another time some city worker in a hi vis walked by that same area and a bunch of crows dive bombed him :lawl:

The Crosman 357 is nice. As a kid, I pretended like I was Dirty Harry. The downside is the slow reload time, and eating up CO2 cartridges. My Daisy spring air rifle was my favorite. It wasn't as powerful as the CO2 guns, but you could load a few hundred BBs into it, and shoot until your arm was sore from pulling the lever. I remember my dad picked it up for $20 @ Target in Bellingham.
The nice thing about the Vigilante is that it uses 10 round cartridges. I just ordered two three packs. Seventy shots with the cartridge it came with. Not bad. Just preload beforehand.

my dad filled up at stupidstore for like 19 bucks if i remember correctly from what he said.
On another note, how can you tell how much propane is left in the tank?

Tanks can be weighed. TW marked on the tank is the weight of empty tank. Usually they are about 17lbs empty. Add 20lbs is 37lbs

Superstore has the cheaper price for refilling propane

check to see expiration date. If it has expired, then go do the exchange thing and make sure you get like a brand new tank. If you don't have a tank, get a crappy one that someone has thrown away, then do the exchange thing.

Also, get an extra tank. I have a spare so I can really empty out each tank

Got my empty tank filled at Kingsway bby supersave for $22. RCSS coquitlam specifically says max they charge for full tank is ~16. Exchange program at safeway is 26.99.

Just an FYI, if you have a senior living with you, make sure you tell them to stay inside. The heat is brutal for seniors. Tell them to drink lots of liquids. My mother in law just collapsed outside and hurt herself badly. We tell her not to go outside in this kind of weather, but she either doesn't listen or forgets.

Thanks Inaii. We called 911 and she was taken to BGH via amberlamps at 10:00 am. Doctor didn't see her till 4:00 pm. Once you arrive in emergency, you are not supposed to eat or drink until the doctor sees you. Doctor when he arrived was like WTF? This is unacceptable. Okay, so why does it happen time and time again? Someone at triage messed up. When you try to ask a question, they're like go away. One day, it'll be their loved one that faces this problem. My mother in law is awesome. Never complained. Maybe that's why they forgot about her.
There's this redneck drunkard who's bitching and whining. He was treated and attended to fairly quickly. Different situation, I know, but makes you wAnder.

When I went into labour, instead of talking to my brother (who drove me there and had all the information) they kept trying to talk to me to get information. I think I may have thrown my phone on the counter at one point and told them to read it themselves.

Oh, let me tell you some horror stories about that place from hell........ it'll be tl;dr.
My parents place used to be in Vancouver, but four blocks from there. I now live in Burnaby and let me tell you it is the worst hospital ever. I keep telling myself never to take anybody, even my worst enemies there, but when you're in an amberlamps, you don't get much of a choice........ at least I think that's the way it goes.

Hey there,
Hoping anyone with experience can chime in.
I have cement splatter all over my car which is really pissing me off at the moment. The vehicle just had a complete full detail less than 2 months ago.
I've never had cement splatter on any of my vehicles before so I don't know what to do but its spread out onto the hood, driver side, and some managed to get on the roof as well. They are small splatter specs.
Any advice on how to remove the cement splatter?
I tried touchless car wash at Chevron with no luck.
I can't say I've ever had to deal with cement spatter, but read that diluted vinegar might help. If it's some heavy duty spatter, check out this thread - they have some product recommendations:

Hey everyone,
I have a question about driving manual.
During bumper to bumper traffic, is it bad for my clutch to use the torque of going from neutral into first gear to move the car forward. When I do this I don't use any gas at all, I just use the torque of going into first gear to propel my car forward.
Is that considered riding my clutch? Should I stop doing that? I was just thinking about what "riding the clutch" actually means, and I have no idea really...
If your car is running, you're using gas.
Riding the clutch means the clutch is partially disengaged. This will prematurely wear out your flywheel and disc. Plus your leg will not be happy.
Do you drive a car that has a fuel efficiency meter on it?
underscore
06-10-2016, 08:34 AM
So you just ease the clutch out a bit without touching the gas pedal? It'll technically wear the clutch, but how else can you move forward?

i'm confused
how else are you supposed to drive in bumper to bumper traffic?
i mean, you could technically let the car in front of you keep going forward to the point where you can drive in 1st gear again but then either
a) someone will squeeze into the spot you created or
b) you'll brake and go back to clutch down in 1st within 3 seconds anyway
edit:
here's a helpful vid...lol i gotta admit i do some of things you're really not supposed to cus of premature wear

06-10-2016, 09:13 AM
Look as far ahead as you can to anticipate the traffic. I left the car in 1st or 2nd gear depending on how traffic was moving, and just let the engine do the braking.
Be one with the car...........plain and simple. Every car is different, but once you are one with the car, you can shift without clutch. Don't look at tach, instead, hear and feel it. Hard to explain. You either got it or you don't.
I learned to drive stick in a old beat up delivery truck. Clutch was freaking heavy and the stick was like two feet long. And hand brake? It was down low in front of vehicle - pull and twist to release. Lol, hills were a bit of a challenge. Anyway old man who taught me had me driving it in less than 15 minutes. He told me driving stick was like having good sex with a woman....... feel her...... he said. :lawl:
BTW, hill assist is for pussies.

Was driving north on Cambie this morning when I saw an SUV with Oklahoma plates. As I passed the vehicle, I waved (I do this every chance I get).
I remember traveling across the US and people would always wave when they saw anyone with plates from elsewhere. Sort of a, "Welcome to our neck of the woods," thang. That's also what I like about US rest areas - so neat and welcoming.
I caught a glimpse of the driver and passenger. Driver was a very cute asian 25ish chick and passenger was middle-aged caucasian. Passenger waved back and gave big smile.
This stuff happens in the US a lot. Here, not so much. I think we should all take the extra effort to wave at visitors who drive from far away places to visit our neck of the woods. Doesn't hurt and at least we will be known for being friendly and not a "no fun", fucked up city, lol.

Vancouver School Board lists 12 schools for potential closure - BC | Globalnews.ca (http://globalnews.ca/news/2773597/vancouver-schools-closure-list-expected-to-be-announced-today/)
Freaking hell.......... but it makes sense. Probably close the schools to save money so the westside schools can be saved, LOL. Eastside parents aren't vocal enough, hee hee.
Anyway, I was at Brit about five months ago. was at the rink. Walking around I started remembering all those secret rooms below the auditorium and all the access points to the school after hours. Lots of fond memories......
Oh well shit's bound to happen. I guess students will be split up between Templeton and Van Tech......... yikes, what a thought.
Gladstone makes sense as it's pretty central. They'd be going to Windermere, Van Tech, or Tupper.
Enrolment is down. Special programmes to deal with kids who are falling in between the cracks suck up most of the resources. If certain parents worked on parenting instead of dumping their shit on the public school system..........anyway, nuff said. It is what it is.

On my drive to Richmond today, I came across a pretty scary accident on the corner of 49th and Royal Oak. At first, I thought it was just an old Asian lady who fell in the middle of the road, but as my son and I raced out of the car to help her, it was much worse. She had been run over by a Smithrite truck. The driver was at the scene calling the ambulance. I checked her quickly and with the help of the driver and another person, we lifted her to the safety of the curb. I left the car in the middle of the road because she was pretty tiny and she may have been hit again. Anyway, after we got her to the curb I noticed her blood soaked socks and something white sticking out of her sneakers. Broken bone that ripped through the sneakers, damn. I wasn't 100 % sure, but I was too freaked out to check it further. She kept wanting to touch it and I kept her from doing so.
The ambulance arrived pretty quickly - within five minutes. People didn't honk or drive off in a hurry, but I was so happy to see so many concerned citizens willing to help translate and whatnot.
I was just wAndering how things might have gone down if this was Gululu territory.......... my guess is she'd be run over a few more times and left for dead. It's much better for her "to died" than burden the family with hospital costs......... I've been brainwashed by western media............ Gululu, enlighten us.
BTW, it looked like the old lady was not at the crosswalk. Unless the truck dragged her a few yards.

Wow, that must've been really painful for her, I hope she recovers quickly.
Unrelated but I just witnessed a lady (not old) falling on 41st Ave across from Oakridge. Her and a friend were jaywalking and she fell. Luckily for her there was no traffic going westbound. Not sure why they couldn't take the extra couple minutes to use the crosswalk.
Yeah, I had to make a quick decision. Traffic there is nuts as it is. The driver said we should get her out of the way and I mentioned that she may have a broken hip or something, but I've dealt with my mom breaking her hip twice and all signs indicated she was not injured in that area. I guess we could have blocked the road, but she was not where people would normally be walking. All it takes is some asshat to rip it around the corner and we'd all be hit. Anyway.................I took first aid like 45 years ago and that's the one thing I still remember - not to move the injured.

According to friend from China (told me circa 2008), if someone runs over someone in China, it is a much more viable option to keep running them over til they die. If they survive they are hooked on to the medical bills and income etc. for life whereas if they died they just have to pay a $200k(?) RMB fine.

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/foreigners/2015/09/why_drivers_in_china_intentionally_kill_the_pedest rians_they_hit_china_s.html
In April a BMW racing through a fruit market in Foshan in China’s Guangdong province knocked down a 2-year-old girl and rolled over her head. As the girl’s grandmother shouted, “Stop! You’ve hit a child!” the BMW’s driver paused, then switched into reverse and backed up over the girl. The woman at the wheel drove forward once more, crushing the girl for a third time. When she finally got out from the BMW, the unlicensed driver immediately offered the horrified family a deal: “Don’t say that I was driving the car,” she said. “Say it was my husband. We can give you money.”
It seems like a crazy urban legend: In China, drivers who have injured pedestrians will sometimes then try to kill them. And yet not only is it true, it’s fairly common; security cameras have regularly captured drivers driving back and forth on top of victims to make sure that they are dead. The Chinese language even has an adage for the phenomenon: “It is better to hit to kill than to hit and injure.”
This 2008 television report features security camera footage of a dusty white Passat reversing at high speed and smashing into a 64-year-old grandmother. The Passat’s back wheels bounce up over her head and body. The driver, Zhao Xiao Cheng, stops the car for a moment then hits the gas, causing his front wheels to roll over the woman. Then Zhao shifts into drive, wheels grinding the woman into the pavement. Zhao is not done. Twice more he shifts back and forth between drive and reverse, each time thudding over the grandmother’s body. He then speeds away from her corpse.
Incredibly, Zhao was found not guilty of intentional homicide. Accepting Zhao’s claim that he thought he was driving over a trash bag, the court of Taizhou in Zhejiang province sentenced him to just three years in prison for “negligence.” Zhao’s case was unusual only in that it was caught on video. As the television anchor noted, “You can see online an endless stream of stories talking about cases similar to this one.”
“Double-hit cases” have been around for decades. I first heard of the “hit-to-kill” phenomenon in Taiwan in the mid-1990s when I was working there as an English teacher. A fellow teacher would drive us to classes. After one near-miss of a motorcyclist, he said, “If I hit someone, I’ll hit him again and make sure he’s dead.” Enjoying my shock, he explained that in Taiwan, if you cripple a man, you pay for the injured person’s care for a lifetime. But if you kill the person, you “only have to pay once, like a burial fee.” He insisted he was serious—and that this was common.
Most people agree that the hit-to-kill phenomenon stems at least in part from perverse laws on victim compensation. In China the compensation for killing a victim in a traffic accident is relatively small—amounts typically range from $30,000 to $50,000—and once payment is made, the matter is over. By contrast, paying for lifetime care for a disabled survivor can run into the millions. The Chinese press recently described how one disabled man received about $400,000 for the first 23 years of his care. Drivers who decide to hit-and-kill do so because killing is far more economical. Indeed, Zhao Xiao Cheng—the man caught on a security camera video driving over a grandmother five times—ended up paying only about $70,000 in compensation.
In 2010 in Xinyi, video captured a wealthy young man reversing his BMW X6 out of a parking spot. He hits a 3-year-old boy, knocking the child to the ground and rolling over his skull. The driver then shifts his BMW into drive and crushes the child again. Remarkably, the driver then gets out of the BMW, puts the vehicle in reverse, and guides it with his hand as he walks the vehicle backward over the boy’s crumpled body. The man’s foot is so close to the toddler’s head that, if alive, the boy could have reached out and touched him. The driver then puts the BMW in drive again, running over the boy one last time as he drives away.
Here too, the driver was charged only with accidentally causing a person’s death. (He claimed to have confused the boy with a cardboard box or trash bag.) Police rejected charges of murder and even of fleeing the scene of the crime, ignoring the fact that the driver ran over the boy’s head as he sped away.
These drivers are willing to kill not only because it is cheaper, but also because they expect to escape murder charges. In the days before video cameras became widespread, it was rare to have evidence that a driver hit the victim twice. Even in today’s age of cellphone cameras, drivers seem confident that they can either bribe local officials or hire a lawyer to evade murder charges.
Perhaps the most horrific of these hit-to-kill cases are the ones in which the initial collision didn’t injure the victim seriously, and yet the driver came back and killed the victim anyway. In Sichuan province, an enormous, dirt-encrusted truck knocked down a 2-year-old boy. The toddler was only dazed by the initial blow, and immediately climbed to his feet. Eyewitnesses said that the boy went to fetch his umbrella, which had been thrown across the street by the impact, when the truck reversed and crushed him, this time killing him.
Despite the eyewitness testimony, the county chief of police declared that the truck had never reversed, never hit the boy a second time, and that the wheels never rolled over the child. Meanwhile, one outraged website posted photographs appearing to show the child’s body under the truck’s front wheel.
In each of these cases, despite video and photographs showing that the driver hit the victim a second, and often even a third, fourth, and fifth time, the drivers ended up paying the same or less in compensation and jail time than they would have if they had merely injured the victim.
With so many hit-to-kill drivers escaping serious punishment, the Chinese public has sometimes taken matters into its own hands. In 2013 a crowd in Zhengzhou in Henan province beat a wealthy driver who killed a 6-year-old after allegedly running him over twice. (A television report claims the crowd had acted on “false rumors.” However, at least five witnesses assert on camera that the man had run over the child a second time.)
Of course, not every hit-to-kill driver escapes serious punishment. A man named Yao Jiaxin who in 2010 hit a bicyclist in Xian and returned to make sure she was dead—even stabbing the injured woman with a knife—was convicted and executed. In 2014 a driver named Zhang Qingda who had hit an elderly man in Jiayu Pass in Gansu province with his pickup truck and circled around to crush the man again was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Both China and Taiwan have passed laws attempting to eradicate hit-to-kill cases. Taiwan’s legislature reformed Article 6 of its Civil Code, which had long restricted the ability to bring civil lawsuits on behalf of others (such as a person killed in a traffic accident). Meanwhile, China’s legislature has emphasized that multiple-hit cases should be treated as murders. Yet even when a driver hits a victim multiple times, it can be hard to prove intent and causation—at least to the satisfaction of China’s courts. Judges, police, and media often seem to accept rather unbelievable claims that the drivers hit the victims multiple times accidentally, or that the drivers confused the victims with inanimate objects.
Hit-to-kill cases continue, and hit-to-kill drivers regularly escape serious punishment. In January a woman was caught on video repeatedly driving over an old man who had slipped in the snow. In April a school bus driver in Shuangcheng was accused of driving over a 5-year-old girl again and again. In May a security camera filmed a truck driver running over a young boy four times; the driver claimed that he had never noticed the child.
And last month the unlicensed woman who had killed the 2-year-old in the fruit market with her BMW—and then offered to bribe the family—was brought to court. She claimed the killing was an accident. Prosecutors accepted her assertion, and recommended that the court reduce her sentence to two to four years in prison.
This light sentence would still be more of a punishment than many drivers have received for similar crimes. But it probably won’t be enough to keep the next driver from putting his car in reverse and hitting the gas.
Happy, happy, joy, joy. My gladiolus plants are finally showing signs of budding. I've got a smile on my face bigger than the front grill of a Mazda.
Happy because for the longest of time, they looked like duds. Lots of leaves, but little of anything else. I thought I bought defective bulbs from Costco. Was going to return them, :lawl:
Just made and had some chicken breast skewers I got from Costco the other day. Damn, they're good. On sale, too. I think it was 10 bucks or so for 2.3 lbs. Fully cooked, so just heat and serve. Made by Westend Cuisine (Made in Canada). It's a little spicy, but if you like it hot, it comes with a Sriracha glaze that is pretty damn hot. Gonna put some hairs on your chest, boyz.
Rarely would I post and suggest something that is found in the freezer section, but this shit is really good. And, it's cheap. For you single guys, it's perfect.

Saw somthing today that made me feel good about the fellow man
Walking home from walking around Burnaby lake down on the Winston slip/government an older guy in a suit had a decent little 80's GTI, he was pulled over by the train crossing and searching through the back of his vehicle as I was walking up
He pulled out a jerry can, presumably out of fuel. Felt sorry for him and was gonna tell him if he didn't know already that shell and esso were about a 10 minute walk in the direction I was going in
Was about 25 feet away when he stuck out his thumb hoping to hitch a ride to the station, was wearing a suit and dress shoes so understandable, but in my head I was thinking I probably wouldn't pick him up
The third vehicle to pass pulled over and gave him a ride within 20 seconds of him sticking out his thumb, an older Volvo I beleive with a dog in the back
Good on the guy.

... in China. We had a thread about an Asian boy a few years ago whose mom was run over to death and the driver not stopping... basically doing a hit and run.
The driver served no punishment and the son with the dead mother got $400 from some Canadian victims assistance agency.
Had the sons mother been killed in China he would have received atleast 4 million dollars worth of money and time (which is more valuable then money often) from the driver to somewhat replace his murdered mother.
Iran has similar laws.

Hmmm... okay peoples, I had some water backing up through a drain at the back of the house with the heavy rains that hit Saturday morning. Thinking that it's time to have a camera snaked down through the drainage tile system to see what's going on down there.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a company? I'm in Burnaby, so there's the obvious Milani Plumbing, Drainmaster or Rotorooters.. Anyone else here on the forums run a small business doing this kind of stuff that I can bring out?

I live in North Burnaby and I have water bubbling out of the city sewer access pipe with the BWW cover on it. It is on the other side of the front yard fence, so it's city property. I'll have to call the city and let them know, I guess.
It's almost over, but more info on other events as you scroll down.

Dropped by Costco today. To correct myself...
It's $74.99 for 2 X $50 gift certificate + $10 off some restaurant.
Rates are
- $59 for treetop adventures
- $149 for superfly ziplines
- $219 for RZR for ATV tour
Not sure how many gift cards you can stack....anyone tried using for example 3 GC for zipline? Or 4 GC + $19 cash for ATV? Since they are "gift cards", I don't think there's a problem...but I didn't get the chance to study the fine prints.

Total charges over $1500.00.
Card was canceled immediately. This has happened far too many times with the Amazon Visa card. No other card has these issues. My Amex card has been rock solid for decades without being compromised. My PC World Elite, once.
Good news is, I'm not held liable for the unauthorized transactions. I hope they catch the fokkers.

Does anyone know what Tenant/Landlord's rights are after lease is over?
1 year lease is coming to an end Aug and landlord is keep asking for re-new. He is not saying resign or move out, but I'm afraid he may do that.
I have no plan to move out but rather not be locked in a contract if I can just go month to month.
Can landlord ask tenant to move out after lease, for whatever reasons, and to find new tenants?
I'm guessing, the reason he is pushing so hard for lease is because the unit is on UBC campus. so if I move out in the middle of the school year, he would have hard time finding new tenant because most renters in that area are students and they come and go during summer, before the school starts in Sept.
Of course, signing a lease has its pros too, but who knows where my life will take me, so I'd rather be month-month if I can.

Speeding biker run over by car after Hwy. 1 crash: RCMP | CTV Vancouver News (http://bc.ctvnews.ca/speeding-biker-run-over-by-car-after-hwy-1-crash-rcmp-1.2995114)
A motorcycle rider is undergoing surgery at Lion's Gate Hospital after apparently losing control of his bike and crashing onto an off-ramp on the Trans-Canada Highway in North Vancouver.
The man was thrown over a concrete barrier and hit by an oncoming vehicle after being thrown from his bike while getting off the highway at Lillooet Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The 32-year-old Vancouverite was rushed to hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
The driver who hit the biker was uninjured and stayed at the scene, according to North Vancouver RCMP.
Mounties believe speed is a factor in the incident and its collision analysis service is trying to determine what happened.

My order from Foreverspin came in this afternoon. NICE!!!
Even received a bonus key fob and a mystery gift card worth anywhere from 5 bucks to 100 bucks.
Everything comes in its own box and a cloth bag.
I ordered the titanium top and spin base. Definitely going to order a set of tops........... so many choices.

I heard it was a dispute between him, producers, and the other host Randy. She originally quit out of left field then the station sent him on his way because of it... Then the next day Randy returns to work and kid is gone forever, weird that he still isn't working tho and living how he does

As someone that hates trying to find parking, I would like to recommend Lonsdale Quay as a great place to bring your SO and/or family. Parking is plentiful and free. There are lots of places to eat and drink. Green Leaf brewing, and Tap and Barrel are a stones throw from one another.

any of you guys buy a basketball jersey recently?
I haven't bought one in a while and from what I rmbr they fit long and baggy
i've got a nephew's bday coming up and i've agreed to chip in and get him a jersey.
He's about ~5'3, 120 lbs, 36-38 chest if i had to guess
I haven't popped by the malls to check em out but how do Youth Large/XL fit vs a Men's small? Been browsing google and the answers look pretty dated.
Seems like Youth L might fit him and its a bit cheaper but I'm not sure how the fit is. Anyone here rock youth sizes?

It's not gonna quite be a "construction clean" but almost, basically need somone to wash window sils, surfaces, clean floors, etc it's probably a few days of work

doubt the inheritance part... he shared on the show he was raised by a single mom and was from east coast...
the paid out biiiig part makes sense....
i wonder how much morning radio show hosts of his caliber get paid? think like 250k/yr?
did 104.9 ever share what the beef was about?
i missed it when he left 94.5 too...

Dave Pratt who was like the anchor of 1040 for years was presumably making about 160 a year when his big contract dispute was going on
Dunno if kid Carson would be making over 200

i tried googling to find out what happened or go through his social media stuff for answers and there's nothing. also nothing about why he left 94.5 as well. i didn't mind him talking i thought he was one of the better radio personalities.

I think you can go to the Vancouver transfer station on SE Marine Dr. They weigh your truck when you enter and leave. Maybe bring something to throw out while you're at it.
Edit: nvm there's a minimum fee, so it's not free
