What about plates such as OpenRoad Lexus?
Where they have those "personalized plates" such as IS-F, IS250, IS350, IS AWD, IS C, etc etc.
Are those registered as a [personalized] dealer plate? Under the same regulation?

A 25-year-old Chinese student in Richmond has been charged with first-degree murder of his mother Lianjie Guo, who was visiting from China with her husband when she went missing this summer.

Yuan Zi Tang was arrested and charged by police on Friday following a two-month investigation that involved over 100 investigators.

“This was a painstaking investigation, with teamwork the likes of which I have never seen before,” said Integrated Homicide Investigative Team spokesperson Jennifer Pound, who said the Chinese government was involved in the investigation.

Guo went missing on June 25, and at first Tang was cooperative in the investigation, going so far as to put up missing signs with his phone number on them.

On July 29, investigators found Guo’s remains in a suitcase off a deserted island in the Sunshine Coast, which they believe floated there from Richmond.

Police did not say what evidence they had against Tang, but said they had evidence he was also trying to kill his father.

Tang was raised in the Fushan district of Shandong with his parents and had been in living in Canada since 2006 on a student visa.

It is unknown at this time where he was studying. He will be tried in Canada.

It may not be a virus, but just spyware that is stopping you from accessing any popular web portals to search how to get rid of it.

It could also just be a prolonged ISP issue. Maybe they cut you off for over-bandwidth.

Go to your command prompt (windows key + r, type in cmd), and type "ipconfig /release" without quotations. Then type "ipconfig/ renew". If you pull an IP you're "connected" to your ISP and it's a local problem.

If you have trouble renewing then it's internet connection problem.

I would also unplug your router and cable/dsl modem as well. This sometimes helps.
Make sure all the wires are plugged in tight.

Then run the windows wizard thing to trouble shoot the problem. Hopefully that works!

Couple things to try.

Go into the properties of your wireless network adapater and disable IPv6, since you probably don't need it anyway.

See if that works.

If not, open up a command prompt and just try "ping 8.8.8.8" and see what you get.

Well I work in Poco and needed to pick up some groceries so I went to the Poco Walmart. Pick up all the shit I need and come out jump in my 4runner and click click click.... FUCK you got to me kidding me. All the power works sunroof, stereo so of course I have BCAA so give them a shout, well a hr later I'm still waiting and I get a call it's going to be 30 more mins... FUCK I gotta get back to work and I'm fucken stranded here. Well the BCAA drive ends up showing up and low and behold the battery is toast when I try to turn it over.

But what are the chances of having my truck die in the parking lot of a store that sells batteries especially on my payday even tho that doesn't matter. The driver hooked it up and I was good to go. Capitan, a German shepherd, reportedly ran away from home after its owner, Miguel Guzman, died in 2006. A week later, the Guzman family found the dog sitting by his grave in central Argentina.

Miguel Guzman adopted Capitan in 2005 as a gift for his teenage son, Damian. And for the past six years, Capitan has continued to stand guard at Miguel's grave. The family says the dog rarely leaves the site.

"We searched for him, but he had vanished," widow Veronica Guzman told LaVoz.com. "We thought he must have got run over and died.

'The following Sunday we went to the cemetery, and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing as if he were crying."

Adding to the unusual circumstances, Veronica says the family never brought Capitan to the cemetery before he was discovered there.

"It is a mystery how he managed to find the place," she said.


Cemetery director Hector Baccega says he and his staff have begun feeding and taking care of Capitan.

Several new computers in a Chinese factory were found to have been infected with malware which was installed there, according to a study by Microsoft. This helped the company obtain a United States court order giving it permission to tackle the network of hijacked computers infected with the Nitol malware.

In a blog post Thursday, Microsoft said the viruses were discovered, when as part of study to confirm speculations, its team of investigators bought 20 PCs, 10 desktops and 10 laptops from different cities in China. Four of the brand new computers were preloaded with malicious programs.

Microsoft was then able to secure a court order to tackle the malware network, in its effort it codenamed codenamed "Operation b70". It later found that cybercriminals had infiltrate unsecure supply chains to introduce counterfeit software embedded with malware.

"We found malware capable of remotely turning on an infected computer’s microphone and video camera, potentially giving a cybercriminal eyes and ears into a victim’s home or business. Additionally, we found malware that records a person’s every key stroke, allowing cybercriminals to steal a victim’s personal information," said Richard Domingues Boscovich, assistant general counsel of Microsoft's digital crimes unit, in the blog post.

One virus found was called Nitol, which steals personal details to help criminals steal from online bank accounts.

"The Nitol botnet malware itself carries out distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks that are able to cripple large networks by overloading them with Internet traffic, and creates hidden access points on the victim’s computer to allow even more malware," said Microsoft in the post.

Nitol had attempted to connect to a command-and-control server on a domain owned by a Chinese company, 3322.org. Microsoft said the court order allowed it to seize control of the Web domain and "significantly limit the spread of the developing Nitol botnet".

Ross Sheppard high school students were angry Monday as they went to class for the first time since hearing that Lynden Dorval, the teacher who refused to follow the school's "no-zero" grade policy, had officially been fired by the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB).

"I didn't agree with the decision at all," Grade 12 student Aiden Villanueva said. "If students are lazy enough to get a zero, then that is the grade that they deserve."

Villanueva, who said he used to be one of those students, said that seeing zeros was a wake-up call that motivated him to work harder.

Dorval was also supported by Grade 12 student Brittany Cogswell, who was in Dorval's science class last year.

"Most of us that were actually in the class were on his side," Cogswell said. "He's a really good teacher, it is unfair that he got fired because most of us liked him.

"I feel like those who don't work hard in school shouldn't get to have an opinion about teachers."

Cogswell also said that the rule is unfair to the students who put in the work.

Dorval said that while this wasn't his most critical argument, it was an issue he raised when pleading his case to the EPSB.

Even a student who didn't agree with Dorval when it came to not following the no-zero policy said that she didn't think he should be fired.

First-year student Shancelin Mukundo has heard the rumblings around campus and was upset with the school board's decision.

"From what I've heard the teacher was actually a good teacher and everyone liked him," she said. "Even if a student didn't do the work that doesn't mean that they didn't learn, they should be given grades for showing up and learning in class, but I still don't think he should have been fired."

Dorval, who plans on appealing the board's decision, said that support like this is always appreciated.

"It always helps to have support, that's all I've ever had," he said. "Nothing but support from parents, other staff, university professors, it never hurts to have support from anybody."

Dorval has not heard yet from the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) as to whether they will financially support the appeal, but said that regardless of the ATA's decision he will move forward, even on his "own dime."

Dorval received a letter from the EPSB on Sept. 14 giving him one month's notice of termination. His contract is officially terminated Oct. 15.

You need to ask yourself if today's schooling system's philosophy of "everyone wins, there are no losers" is really helping.

When I was in grade 7, there was a kid, named Glenn that was the class clown/village idiot that got kicked out of music class. So he spent his time in the hall, supposedly doing 'independent study'. In reality, he'd sit there and have a great time talking to pretty much anyone that came by.

Now, at the same time, I was stuck in the classroom with a teacher that just didn't get it at all. No one had a real interest in learning the history of big band music. I certainly didn't. Music class was a joke.

And based on my perceptions of Nova Scotias music program, you might as well cut that shit out of the curriculum as that money was accomplishing nothing.

But my point is, at the end of the year, guess where we both ended up? Grade 8. He was pushed right along. Someone else's problem.

The funny thing was, I had already noticed that had happened in grade 6. I said to my mom..I work hard, and get good grades. Tell me, whats the point? She at least gave me a good honest answer..."your own reward kid. No one at the school cares." She had realized that when I was in grade 5. On our report cards, it used to say "your child is: "below expectations/at expectations/above expectations". Mine was always marked "at expectations" so at a parent teacher conference, my mom asked a newer teacher that I had that year, "what needs to happen for him to be above expectations?" And she was provided the favor of an honest answer, "he can't"

There was no way in the system that I could be provided a harder book to report on, or long division that i couldn't do in my head. So the entire school system was based on letting smarter students stagnate while we devote our time to the ones that are lagging behind.

In this way, I think we were doing better with a one room school house. Why segregate kids when really you can advance a kid up a grade level, while still maintaining the social aspects that are important for a kid to be among peers.

They continue to re-design the school system to resemble nothing of the real world that kids are supposed to graduate into. Is it helping? Are kids better for it?

My answer is no.

I wanted a pair for my parents Christmas gift. The tix went on sale at 10am on Fri, Sep 14 and I tried getting a pair at the time. The ticketmaster CAPTCHA thing was ridiculously hard, and by the time I got through, nothing was available except for singles!

A Canada Post van might have just been carrying "snail mail," but it was allegedly being driven at such a high speed through West Vancouver Monday that police impounded it.

The truck was doing 135 km/h in a 90-km/h zone on the Trans-Canada Highway, Cpl. Fred Harding said in a release Tuesday.

“The 1995 Chevrolet postal van has been impounded for seven days,” Harding said.

Harding said the contents of the van were transferred to a second postal truck.

Police in B.C. can temporarily impound vehicles alleged to have been travelling at 40 km/h or more above posted speed limits.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A man was mauled by a 400-pound tiger at the Bronx Zoo on Friday after he leaped from a moving monorail train and plummeted over a protective fence.

The man was alone with the tiger for about 10 minutes before he was rescued by zoo officials, who used a fire extinguisher to chase it away. He suffered bites and punctures on his arms, legs, shoulders and back and broke an arm and a leg.

Zoo director Jim Breheny said the man was lucky to escape the tiger's clutches.

"If not for the quick response by our staff and their ability to perform well in emergency situations, the outcome would have been very different," Breheny said.

The tiger mauling happened at around 3 p.m. in the Wild Asia exhibit, where a train with open sides takes visitors over the Bronx River and through a forest, where they glide along the top edge of a fence past elephants, deer and a tiger enclosure.

Passengers aren't strapped in on the ride, and the man apparently jumped out of his train car with a leap powerful enough to clear the 16-foot-high perimeter fence.

The man was mauled by an 11-year-old male Siberian tiger named Bashuta, which has been at the zoo for three years. After zoo staff chased the tiger off, the man was instructed to roll under an electrified wire to get to safety, Breheny said. Zookeepers then called the tiger into a holding area, he said.

The 25-year-old man was conscious and talking after the mauling, Breheny said. A hospital spokeswoman said he was in stable condition on Friday night, but his family has requested that no further information be released.

Officials believe he was visiting the zoo by himself.

"When someone is determined to do something harmful to themselves," Breheny said, "it's very hard to stop that."

The Bronx Zoo, one of the nation's largest zoos, sprawls over 265 acres and contains hundreds of animals, many in habitats meant to resemble natural settings. Its exhibits include Tiger Mountain, Congo Gorilla Forest and World of Reptiles.

The tiger that mauled the man was returned to a holding area where it usually sleeps at night and will not be euthanized, zoo officials said.

"The tiger did nothing wrong in this episode," Breheny said.

There are 10 tigers at the Wild Asia exhibit, but Bashuta was the only one on display at the time. There are no surveillance cameras in that area of the exhibit.

Zoo officials said they would review safety procedures but believe this was a highly unusual occurrence.

"We review everything, but we honestly think we provide a safe experience," Breheny said. "And this is just an extraordinary occurrence ... somebody was deliberately trying to endanger themselves."

A schoolgirl who sparked a cross-Channel police hunt is believed to have travelled to France with her married 30-year-old maths teacher, it emerged today.

Fifteen-year-old Megan Stammers was caught on camera with Jeremy Forrest as they drove onto a Calais-bound ferry at Dover on Friday evening.

Forrest is a teacher at her school, Bishop Bell Church of England School, in Eastbourne, East Sussex, although it is not clear whether she was in his class.

The schoolgirl was also understood to have decided to elope across the Channel with Forrest after setting off to school.

Friends went on Twitter to say she had been abducted and taken to France but police said they did not have any fears for Megan's safety.

A team of officers, headed by a Chief Superintendent, was today following up a number of enquiries into Megan's disappearance but a spokesman admitted that there had been no new sightings of the pair.

Had a friend go to Moores for a pair of pants during their "buy one get one free sale". Pants were $60, he bought 2 since BOGO, they then charged him $15 per pair to hem the bottoms, WTF? So his 2 pairs of pants, where one was "free" cost him just over $100. They always find a way to get their money. I don't ever remember getting charged for something as simple as hemming anywhere, so long as the pants were purchased there.

September 23, 2012-- What started out as a local effort by Muslims to write messages of goodwill to the family of Ambassador Stevens has quickly become a global online movement, with thousands of letters being sent from ninety countries in just one week.

The effort was launched by Celebrate Mercy, a non-profit organization that aims to educate people of all faiths worldwide about the life and character of the Prophet Muhammad through online telecasting and social media. It solicited responses to its 11-day 'MercyMail Campaign' via Facebook and Twitter, urging followers to "respond to an evil deed with a good one."

Letters began coming in rapidly after the campaign made the front page of Reddit.com, the social news website, and received the endorsement of prominent Muslim scholars and celebrities such as Cat Stevens (Yusuf).

"Violence and vandalism, no matter how angry you are, is not right in any religion. By killing an innocent man, this mob did more to offend the Prophet Muhammad's legacy than this film could have ever done," said Tarek El-Messidi, founder of Celebrate Mercy.

"The Prophet Muhammad embodied mercy and patience on a daily basis, and taught that killing a single person is equivalent to killing all of humanity. This tiny, but loud minority obviously wasn't listening, but the outpouring of heartfelt letters from Muslims worldwide reflects the values of the overwhelming majority."

The organization is collecting all of the letters, as well as flowers and gifts, to send to the family. They have received letters from Muslims spanning five continents, most of which came from the United States and North Africa, including many Libyans and Libyan-Americans.

Messages have ranged from personal stories, to condolences and prayers for the family, and explanations of why the act contradicts Muhammad's message and character.

Beijing court finds boyfriend guilty of student's murder in B.C.

A court in Beijing has found the former boyfriend of Amanda Zhao guilty of her murder, 10 years after the body of the international student was discovered in B.C.

Li Ang was sentenced to life in prison, according to Zhao's family.

Defence lawyer Zou Jiaming said the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate Court ruled Thursday that Li committed "intentional homicide." He plans to appeal the verdict, according to a report in the Globe and Mail.

A Canadian diplomat was in the court Thursday, but would not comment.

Zhao, 21, had come to Canada to study English and was living in Burnaby, B.C., with Li at the time of her disappearance on Oct. 9, 2002. Hikers found her body stuffed into a suitcase nearly two weeks later near Mission, B.C., 80 kilometres east of Vancouver.

Li, who was 18 at the time, was a suspect but fled to China shortly after the discovery, leading to lengthy diplomatic and legal wrangling between Canadian and Chinese authorities over who would prosecute the case.

An autopsy determined she had been strangled.

No problem dude. Passports mean nothing....who looks at the expiry dates anyways. They are just some random numbers. The border's automatic system won't be able to recognize your passport expired. It's been only one month afterall....

Just head on down South, and you'll be no prob :thumbs:

In the late 1970s, milk cartons were used in some places to try and make people aware of missing children. In the 21st century, Europe wants websites and ISPs to use their 404 missing page views to do the same thing.
The NotFound project has been created by Missing Children Europe, Child Focus, the European Federation for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children and several other European organisations.

While there are standard ways of setting up a 404 Not Found page, increasing numbers of websites are customising the error page to redirect web users who go astray or who visit an old page.

NotFound wants sites to add a snippet of code to those customised pages so they display data about missing youngsters.

So far, about 480 sites have signed up to the NotFound initiative and reconfigured their 404 page to help.

Maryse Roland, a spokeswoman for Child Focus, said a random process governed which missing child would be highlighted.

“It could be a recent disappearance, or on the contrary, a child that has been missing for a long time,” she said.

“This project will allow us to once again concentrate the attention on children whom we haven’t heard of for many years,” said Ms Roland. “These children risk falling into oblivion.”

I'm pretty sure I recall one time my wife wasn't aware that her passport was expired until we got to the border, but she got let through anyway.

Another time, not quite the same, but I had an enhanced driver's license, and this was really new at the time. Amazingly, the US border guard did not believe it was a valid document for proving citizenship. Even though she thought this and threatening that she could ask me to go in to prove my citizenship, she let me go across. Essentially, she let me go across with what she believed to only be a drivers license.

It certainly near the introduction of EDLs, but I am certain this was when EDL was already an officially accepted form of proof of citizenship. As a border agent, your PRIMARY job is to know what qualifies as valid documentation.
