The scale of the universe never ceases to amaze me. This is a must-see:
http://htwins.net/scale2/scale2.swf?bordercolor=white
I admit I get a little emotional when I think about the vastness of the universe, and how little we know, and how insignificant we are. But in a good way, if that makes any sense... Because we're just part of something so amazing.
(BTW it goes in and out from the 'start'!)

Damn mother nature, tornado in Dallas today throwing around semi trailers caught on vid
My flight from Frankfurt to Vancouver on the 3rd was supposed to have a layover/connection in Dallas Ft. Worth Airport but we were diverted to Chicago because of all of this. I didn't realize it was this bad. The storms worked in my favor though because I ended up in Vancouver 2.5 hours earlier than my original scheduled American Airlines flight.

If the rest of the mailing address is correct, he'll find the street but he might not find the house. If it's a business, it's unlikely it'll get to the right place. If it's a residence, there a chance he'll match up the name.

Mike Wallace of 60minutes died @ the age of 93

60 Minutes icon Mike Wallace dies at 93 - CBS News (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57411010/60-minutes-icon-mike-wallace-dies-at-93/)

60 Minutes icon Mike Wallace dies at 93
(CBS News) CBS News legend Mike Wallace, the "60 Minutes" pit-bull reporter whose probing, brazen style made his name synonymous with the tough interview - a style he practically invented for television more than half a century ago - died last night. He was 93 and passed peacefully surrounded by family members at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn., where he spent the past few years. He also had a home in Manhattan.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we mark the passing of Mike Wallace. His extraordinary contribution as a broadcaster is immeasurable and he has been a force within the television industry throughout its existence. His loss will be felt by all of us at CBS," said Leslie Moonves, president and CEO, CBS Corporation.
"All of us at CBS News and particularly at '60 Minutes' owe so much to Mike. Without him and his iconic style, there probably wouldn't be a '60 Minutes.' There simply hasn't been another broadcast journalist with that much talent. It almost didn't matter what stories he was covering, you just wanted to hear what he would ask next. Around CBS he was the same infectious, funny and ferocious person as he was on TV. We loved him and we will miss him very much," said Jeff Fager, chairman CBS News and executive producer of "60 Minutes."
A special program dedicated to Wallace will be broadcast on "60 Minutes" next Sunday, April 15.
Wallace was as famous as the leaders, newsmakers and celebrities who suffered his blistering interrogations, winning awards and a reputation for digging out the hidden truth on Sunday nights in front of an audience that approached 40 million at the broadcast's peak.
Wallace played a huge role in "60 Minutes"' rise to the top of the ratings to become the number-one program of all time, with an unprecedented 23 seasons on the Nielsen annual top 10 list - five as the number-one program.
Besides his 21 Emmy Awards, Wallace was the recipient of five DuPont-Columbia journalism and five Peabody Awards, and was the Paul White Award winner in 1993, the highest honor given by the Radio and Television News Directors Association. He won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award grand prize and television first prize in 1996. In June of 1991, he was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.
He announced he would step down to become a "correspondent emeritus" in the spring of 2006, but Wallace continued to land big interviews for "60 Minutes." His last appearance on television, on January 6, 2008, was a sit-down on "60 Minutes" with accused steroid user Roger Clemens that made front-page news. His August 2006 interview of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won him his 21st Emmy at the age of 89. He was also granted the first post-prison interview with assisted suicide advocate and convicted killer Dr. Jack Kevorkian for a June 2007 "60 Minutes" broadcast. After a successful triple bypass operation in late January 2008, he retired from public life.
Decades before his "60 Minutes" success, Wallace was already known to millions. In the early days of broadcasting, with no line between news and entertainment, Wallace did both. In the 1940s and '50s, he appeared on a variety of radio and television programs, first as narrator/announcer, then as a reporter, actor and program host.
On his first network television news program, ABC's "The Mike Wallace Interview," he perfected his interviewing style that he first tried on a local New York television guest show called "Night Beat." Created with producer Ted Yates, "Night Beat" became an instant hit that New Yorkers began referring to as "brow beat." Wallace's relentless questioning of his subjects proved to be a compelling alternative to the polite chit-chat practiced by early television hosts.
Years later, CBS News producer Don Hewitt remembered that hard-charging style when creating his pioneering news magazine, "60 Minutes"; he picked Wallace to be a counterweight to the avuncular Harry Reasoner. On September 24, 1968, Wallace and Reasoner introduced "60 Minutes" to the 10:00 p.m. timeslot, where it ran every other Tuesday. It failed to draw large audiences. But critics praised it, awards followed, and after seven years on various nights, "60 Minutes" went to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and began its rise.

SPANISH village votes for a plan to rent out a field for growing cannabis in an urgent bid to create jobs and raise money to pay off its debts.
Sign up for your free 2 month trial
Rasquera's village council on February 29 approved, in a 4-3 vote, the plan to rent seven hectares of public land to an association that promotes the legal recreational or therapeutic use of cannabis by its 5000 members.
But since the plan was met with fierce opposition from some residents and opposition parties who fear it will turn the village located 140km south of Barcelona into a drugs mecca, the council agreed to put it to a referendum Tuesday.
To the delight of Mayor Bernat Pellisa, 308 voters (or 56.3 percent) agreed with 239 against.
Earlier the mayor had threatened to resign with the entire council if the "yes" vote was less than 75 percent, but he happily brushed that aside saying, "[Wednesday] morning we'll take decisions after digesting the results."
Private consumption of cannabis is not outlawed in Spain although it is illegal to sell the drug.
Rasquera, where local produce traditionally includes olives and grapes, is suffering from the country's severe public financing crisis and hopes income from letting the land will help it pay down its &euro: 1.3 million (US$1.7 million) of debt.
The village council, controlled by a pro-Catalan independence party, says the plan would create 40 direct and indirect jobs, mostly involving the harvesting of the cannabis crop.
It argues the field can be rented to the Barcelona Personal Use Cannabis Association for more than 10 times the regular market price. The Barcelona-based cannabis smokers' association will reportedly pay the village ?650,000 a year for the right to grow its annual supply there.

Police have barricaded streets around a quiet Richmond apartment complex after witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said he was at home when he heard the sound of three “pops” in rapid succession near Westminster Highway and Katsura Street.
“They’ve basically barricaded the intersection near the sidewalk on Katsura,” he said. The area is flanked by a church and a newer apartment complex, he described, and police and ambulance officials have converged around a possible victim outside the apartment.

I've been a vegetarian for eight years and I still go for sushi with my friends. There's a few options of what to have in a roll aside from fish, it's not quite the same without it, but it's still good.

It's your opinion that maintaining a vegetarian diet equates to destroying your body, but I strongly disagree. Both of us could bring up peer reviewed papers to support our positions, but there's almost no chance either of us will sway each other opinions on the issue so I'll leave my post at that.

As a pescetarian, you are at least eating fish, so you should be fine. The ones who literally don't eat the way their species is built to eat are the ones who are really fucking themselves up.
BTW it's not a matter of opinion that humans are omnivores. If you don't eat what your body needs, you are slowly destroying it.

Elderly woman slashed in East Vancouver crime spree
Suspect from Maple Ridge is well known to police
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A violent crime spree ended with an arrest in East Vancouver tonight.
At 5:45 p.m., police were first alerted to a stolen truck that a man was driving southbound on Cambell Street near East Hastings. While officers were responding to that area, more reports came in that the same truck had crashed with a car on Clark Drive at East 7th Avenue.
The suspect then continued to drive the damaged truck to the intersection of Woodland and East 5th Avenue, where he ditched the wreck.
He next ran up to an 80-year-old woman sitting in her car on East 5th Avenue near Victoria Drive. The man allegedly cut the woman's neck with a knife. She was able to run to safety as the suspect took off in her car.
Moments later, police in the area of East 11th Avenue and Commercial Drive saw the man running. They were able to catch up to him at Clark Drive and took him into custody at gunpoint.
The elderly woman suffered a superficial cut and was treated on scene. The driver of the car in the initial crash on Clark Drive was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police say the 40-year-old Maple Ridge man is well known to them. He is facing multiple property and violent crime-related charges.

It's certainly not a matter of opinion that humans are omnivores, our teeth are evidence of that and I would not argue that we are not. I would also say however, that humans like all primates are capable of adapting to differing environmental conditions (diet included) very well. Certain primates are vegetarian, while others eat meat rarely, and others pursue meat as an active part of their diet, all with very nearly identical biological structure.I don't think being vegetarian is by nature destroying ones body, some consider it healthier, some consider it unhealthy, I think it's fairly neutral.
Even if I believed my diet was detrimental to my health, lets say being vegetarian took a few years off my life, I still would be. The little fish I eat, I catch, I kill and it is not the emotionless factory farmed, saran wrapped on a piece of styrofoam experience that many people depend on maintaining to avoid acknowledging the life of the animal the flesh came from. I can't separate life from flesh, I need to acknowledge and pay respects to that life personally. If I know the animal suffered in it's life to feed me, like a chicken in a broiler barn does, I can't avoid a sense of guilt for contributing to that suffering. That's a bit strange perhaps, but I've been that way since I was very young. I probably sound the same way a Christian babbling about creation does right now... :P
I'll try to check out that book during the summer.

Cool... now I know the full story.
I happened upon the scene of the car crash just after it happened. It was a light blue late 80's or early 90's Corolla that got smashed up. His front license plate got ripped off and was strewn like five meters away up 7th Avenue. I looked around and didn't see a second vehicle... and then I noticed skid and drag marks going away from the scene. I actually followed it for five blocks around several corners before I found the stolen old Chevy truck ditched in the driveway of a residential building. I was about to call the police to report the location of the ditched vehicle, but others that were in the area had already called it in.

Mosquito noise devices turned off in Vancouver schools
At least 33 sound machines have been temporarily shut down over potential health concerns
Amelia John Apr 19, 2012 19:43:38 PM
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - They're loud, annoying, and can cause extreme discomfort, but only if you're under 25-years-old. At least 33 mosquito noise devices set up at schools in Vancouver are temporarily being turned off.
The powerful frequencies are meant to keep young people off school property after hours to limit vandalism and graffiti.
David Eby with the BC Civil Liberties Association is worried babies or toddlers who live in neighbourhoods around the schools might have their hearing damaged.
"If you're wheeling a toddler or an infant around in the area, you can't hear the noise, but your infant certainly can. There's a real lack of data about the impact of these devices on the auditory health of very young children, although they meet standards for adults," he says.
Eby is also concerned the devices treat children differently. He supports an outright ban, saying "given those considerations and the fact that they treat young people like a nuisance, we think the school board should seriously reconsider the use of the device. They do something teachers can't do, which is inflict pain and discomfort on people whose actions they disagree with."
The European Union has put forward a motion to ban them, calling the boxes a violation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Vancouver School Board Chair Patti Bacchus had no idea there were so many of the mosquito devices located in the district. "I was very surprised at the number of them. I wasn't aware they were in place; I've been on the board for four years. From what I understand, the first one was put into use before that, so I guess in 2008," she says.
Because of the concerns, she says a public discussion is needed. "There is a public committee, it will be on the agenda of our facilities and planning committee meeting on May 1st at 5:30," she adds.
Bacchus would also like to hear from public health workers and people who live in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

I know for us before it was because there were people getting into fights and vandalism, but the most they did was to have a teacher come out and tell people to leave. Though this would explain why when I drive by my old school there would be little to no students outside.

The 'teeth' argument is silly, and I'll just leave it at that. But as you said, if there's one thing we can do, it's adapt to different things. That's why I usually just take the 'to each their own' sentiment with so many things. However, to say that this is the 'proper' way to eat, is where I take issue with it. But we can leave that alone since I don't think you are going to try to argue that
I think it comes down to two things: 1) Putting humans on a pedestal. This is where vegetarianism is basically like religion - our egos are so huge, we can't accept the fact that we are just animals. But that's all we are, and all we ever were. We are animals, designed and evolved over millions of years, but now there is this great importance placed upon us, and for some reason people are "above" eating animals. Like there is something wrong with it, and it's cruel. Well guess what - animals eat animals. And so do we. There's nothing inherently 'cruel' about it. Go look at how animals hunt in the wild.. Everything from ants, to lions, and everything in between are 'cruel' to each other. Because tehy are just doing what they're designed to do in order to survive. Hell, even plants aren't vegan, which is an interesting juxtaposition to bring up to vegans :)
And the second issue is the general anthropomorphism of animals, and how it affects us... I guess it might be the same issue overall, but it comes down to empathy. My wife is VERY empathetic to all living things. She's the type of person who will see a snail or slug in a path, and move it aside to make sure it doesn't get stepped on. But that doesn't stop her from being a normal meat eating person, because she respects the animals, and respects what they provide to us. I think if that self realization wasn't there, she would almost certainly become a vegetarian (like her sister, who eventually had to stop because she was getting sick, and also came to a similar realization that hey, humans eat animals and that's OK)
As far as cruelty to animals, you can be cruel to an animal, or you can't. It is up to you to decide. And the same goes for someone working at a chicken farm or a beef farm. There is nothing you can do to stop a cruel person from being cruel, including not eating their products. Because they are going to be cunts whether you eat beef or not. And if everyone stopped eating meat, they would all still be cunts (well, for the short time before the environment collapses, which is inevitable if such a thing were to happen)

By your logic, is it okay to kill others? Bears kill and eat their own young sometimes.
Alligators eat each other. Is cannibalism wrong? Because you can find examples of that in the animal world.
Yes, I agree, we are animals, but most of us would like to hold ourselves to a higher moral standard in human society, and not just disregard dispicable behavior as 'oh, it's not cruel, we're just animals."

It should work pretty well, I have a car sticky pad that uses the same material and it really is quite astounding how sticky it is, and how you can rinse it off with water, and once it dries it gets sticky again.

my little rant for the day...
I am absolutely stunned that Castanet (Kelowna's largest news site, classifieds, and forum. significantly busier than craigslist) now charges $20+tax for employers to post help wanted ads when they have always been free. Last year there were 3-4 times as many ads per category than there are now. The help wanted ads are more beneficial for people trying to find work than they are for employers. Unemployment is a big concern to everyone, and Castanet is now making it harder for people to find work? It costs us employers more money to help someone find a job now than it does to advertise services available. I could understand perhaps $5. But going from free to $20 is absurd.

Two dead after crash near Cassiar Tunnel
Highway 1 is totally closed to westbound traffic at the tunnel
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Two people are dead after an early morning crash near the Cassiar Tunnel.
It appears the vehicle the two were in came off at McGill Street, rolled down an embankment and ended up on westbound Highway 1 around 2 a.m.
Highway 1 is totally closed to westbound traffic at the tunnel.
For now, you are being detoured around the PNE and then onto the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge. It's unclear when they'll reopen things back up for drivers if you're heading for the North Shore.

Altercation Over Parking Spot Ends in Death by Testicular Asphyxiation
A shopkeeper in China was fatally injured last week after a woman with whom he was clashing clutched his testicles, and squeezed them until he blacked out.
According to local reports, the 42-year-old man, who hails from the southern city of Haikou in the small province of Hainan, was locked in a heated altercation with the 41-year-old woman over a parking spot.
The unnamed woman, who was picking up her child from elementary school, sought to leave her scooter outside the man's shop. When he refused, the two began quarreling. Soon they were joined by the woman's husband and brother, and the tough talk turned to violence.
At some point during the melee, the woman latched on to the proprietor's privates, and refused to let go until the man passed out. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Financial certainty for the Celebration of Light festival
Honda is the new sponsor of the annual, often cash-strapped summer festival
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Finally, the annual Celebration of Light has some financial certainty. The often cash-strapped summer festival has a new title sponsor.
Honda has signed on for the next three years, keeping the annual event afloat through the summer of 2014. The fireworks show will be known as the Honda Celebration of Light.
"It makes all the board members sleep a lot better," believes John Reynolds, Chair of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society.
In past years, the show has been on the brink of being cancelled because of a lack of funding. "It's very, very good. It's good free enterprise, and good solid business."
If you're looking to get you tickets early, reserved seating is already available.
"We've already sold tickets this year," says Reynolds. "[It's] amazing that we just put [the website] up softly a few weeks ago with no advertising and there's a few hundred tickets already sold."
He says the format for the reserved seats, and the number of seats available, will be much the same as last year.
"The reserved seating worked very well last year because there are some people who don't have the ability to come at the last minute, or they've got kids. It give some of them a chance to get seating."
"We're looking at increasing that [reserved seating] hopefully a little bit this year, a couple hundred more. But the beaches are beautiful, it's a great family event."
Canada will not be competing in this year's festival, but Reynolds stresses there will be great content from other countries.
"Kicking off this year's event on Saturday, July 28, will be Vietnam," says Reynolds. "This is the first competition for Vietnam outside of its home country, and marks a landmark event in the pyrotechnic community."
"Next up on Wednesday, August 1, will be Brazil. Known for its flamboyant, innovative displays, this show will certainly be one to watch," adds Reynolds. "And finally, on Saturday, August 4, bringing its rich tradition of pyrotechnics will be Italy."
Last year's show received a major award. The 21st Annual Celebration of Light was given the Best Public Entertainment Award at the 2012 Canadian Event Industry Awards.
The prize was handed out March 30 at the Hyatt Hotel in Toronto. Festival organizers say they are thrilled to be recognized nationally for their efforts.

You need to read your strata by-laws to see what it says.
Chances are, yes. Considering they need to pay the company come back out and inspect only yours.
Regardless of what your bylaw manual says....just pay the $50. You can't expect others to pay for you missing the inspection. The re-scheduling fee needs to come from somewhere.

A bit of a digression - but I hate real estate agents.
I'm glad to see that consumers now have the ability to have a property listed on MLS for a flat fee. Unless the person selling the property is truly incapable of escorting a potential buyer through a brief tour and negotiating a pretty simple deal, MLS is the only useful service agents have been capable of offering for a very long time. I was very seriously looking at buying a property last spring, I decided to hold off, but my short list was entirely based on photos off MLS and location. When I looked at the properties on my short list, the agent was nothing more than an annoying bug pointing out the nice view and counter tops that anyone who isn't blind could clearly see.

According to the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, there is no set commission rate!
However, I just sold my house in April, and we used the "standard" rate:
Commission = 7% on first $100k and 2.5 on remainder
Buyer's agent gets 46.5% of the commission + HST
Seller's agent gets 53.5% of the commission + HST (because he has more expenses than the buyer's agent, my agent had to pay his agency + REBGV for listing on MLS)
All of this can be negotiable...

The licensing fees ad up quick.
A person could easily sell privately without taking the course however, you simply pay a flat rate to have the property listed on MLS and have a lawyer handle the legal documents.

can a notary do the work? Much cheaper.
either way. 6 weeks of work to save from what I understand about 10-20 grand worth of commission? I mean if the market is so "hot" here, and people are knocking on peoples doors asking to buy, more people should do it.

Realtors and the whole industry just blows me away.
Assets:
You have a website. It's a good website. Good traffic
You have multiple branch locations in every major town and city.
You have a large group of people of varying skills that run all over town selling shit using the terms "sprucing".
And for that, people are happy to support your monopoly, and hand you huge stacks of cash on the sale of every home in town. People don't even think about it...its just a cost of doing business.
BUT, here's the problem. If you don't use them, you can sit on your house for months. The first place people go is the MLS site. Your privately listed house isn't there.
So, that's fine, you have a "sale by owner" sign. And everyone drives by thinking "whats wrong with it". Oh, and then, "I'll have to fill out the paperwork myself!".
It's free for the buyers, so why wouldn't they work with a realtor?
Of course, in reality, it is the buyer paying everything, but its also the seller getting less...but you know..
In reality, home buying is a big f'ing mess. I don't like. I can use a computer and read forms. Get out of my way. I want cheap houses.

Airport cheerleaders an added perk? - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/02/travel/china-airport-cheerleaders/index.html)
(CNN) -- While some Chinese travelers storm the tarmac when flights get delayed, others might wish their flights never take off -- assuming they're flying from the northeast China city of Dalian.
To entertain waiting passengers, Dalian International Airport recently recruited a squad of cheerleaders to perform kicks, jumps and splits in the airport's main hall.
During massive fog-related delays in Dalian last week, the cheerleaders' pom-pom routines "soothed emotion and alleviated fatigue" for more than 5,000 stranded fliers, according to the Dalian Evening News.
The cheerleading show is part of the airport's effort to "bring more convenience to passengers in the summer-autumn air season," said Zhen Qun, an airport official.
It's also a way for the Dalian airport to "demonstrate spirit and shoulder social responsibility," according to an airport press release.
The airport has launched a series of other innovative services, including free physical checkups and instant weather and flight updates by text message.
Zhen did not discuss the daily schedule of cheerleader shows, but the airport has staged at least one performance every day in the past week, each lasting two to three hours, with breaks.
"The cheerleaders are enrolled in different colleges in Dalian. We hire them on a work-for-study program," added Zhen. "The performance is free of charge for passengers."

Yes that is correct, that is the current "standard rate" been like that for awhile now. Although there is no set rate, this what what most realtors charge their clients. Anything more, the agent will have to justify why.
I'm a realtor myself and that is what I charge my sellers.

A couple of years ago, when I first started my biz(reno) I quoted this guy for painting his garage. We were talking and he seemed decent. Tells me he had this sketchy looking guy that said he'd do it for $500, but needed the money up front.
Tells me that he'd much prefer to have me do it, as I look all clean and professional. This other guy would probably flake on him(um, yeah?)
I tell him that I can't meet heroin addict pricing, but I can come in close and do things by the book. I think I quote him $800 or some shit.
Calls me the next day to get me to meet the $500 price by saying, "well, I do have this other guy willing to do it for 500..."
And I say: "Let me get this straight. You don't want to hire the heroin addict, but want heroin addict pricing?"
...I didn't get that job...
People just annoy me. Had another guy in his negotiation say "oh, I've got a guy that will do it for 2k"
Get the other guy to do it then. Oh..right. There IS no other guy. This is a line.
I did get that job.
People shock me at the things they do. You see on the news, and you say to yourself like, how do these people fall for it?
That guy was going to hand a sketchy looking addict 500 and then wonder A) why my garage looks like shit or B) why this heroin addict guy stole my money?

China to investigate 'baby pills' | News.com.au (http://www.news.com.au/world/china-to-investigate-baby-pills/story-fn6sb9br-1226351465544)
Article below
CHINA has pledged to investigate allegations about pills filled with the powdered flesh of dead babies.
The gruesome practice came to light on Sunday when South Korean Customs said it had uncovered multiple attempts to illegally import, in total, more than 17,000 of the capsules in travellers' luggage or by mail.
The pills are said to be filled with the flesh of foetuses or dead infants, dried then ground into powder, to be taken as a disease cure or to boost sexual performance.
Beijing said a previous investigation into similar allegations had uncovered no evidence that such capsules were made in China, but pledged to reopen the investigation.
"We have not yet found the relevant capsules in China," China foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said yesterday.
"The health ministry will further investigate (this) in conjunction with relevant public security, industry and commerce and customs departments."
Experts say the practice stems from a superstitious belief that eating the body parts of young infants will impart special physical strength or cure disease.
But aside from the obvious ethical issues, there are worries the capsules could be contaminated with "super bacteria" and other disease-causing organisms.
China's health ministry declined to comment yesterday, but spokesman Deng Haihua told the Shanghai Daily that reports of the capsules first surfaced in South Korean media in August last year.
A Korea Customs official said on Tuesday that the country would closely monitor flights from "certain Chinese regions" and inspect the luggage of passengers more frequently than before.
Korea Customs said pills were sent from at least four Chinese cities at the request of customers in South Korea, but were intercepted in the mail or in customs searches at airports.
They came from Jilin and Yanji cities - both in the northern province of Jilin which borders North Korea - as well as the northern municipality of Tianjin and eastern city of Qingdao, it said.
Some were hidden in packages of legitimate drugs to disguise their contents.
Bringing in such pills breaches a regulation banning items that "violate social dignity and customs", said Kim Soo-Yeon, an official in charge of customs clearance.
The capsules sell for 40,000-50,000 won ($35-$44) each at some herbal medicine shops, South Korean media says.
Chinese hospitals cannot dispose of foetuses and deceased infants as medical waste, the Shanghai Daily said. They must be treated as other human remains and cremated.
Under Chinese law, medical institutions are also forbidden to trade in foetal remains or placentas, the Global Times, an English-language Chinese newspaper said.
But Chinese hospitals do allow mothers who have just delivered to take their own placentas, provided they sign an authorisation form, a Shanghai maternity hospital said.
One Chinese health website posted recipes for both human and animal placenta, including soup, dumplings and meat balls.
"Many people with weak constitutions want a quick way to take human, cow, sheep and other animals' placenta, and process it for food," said website ·É»ª½¡¿µÍø_Öйú½¡¿µÓªÑøÒ½ÁÆרҵÍøÕ¾ (http://www.fh21.com.cn).

Another question for everyone, I'm thinking about getting some lowering springs for my 93 EG, but not too sure if that's a good idea running them on the stock struts. My EG is at almost 297k km now, and I'm not sure if the struts are still the original ones but I'll just assume that they are. Would they last another 20k km or so if I were to put aftermarket springs on them? The springs atm are stock and I'm assuming that the springs on the struts have been OEM their entire life since the car was never modified before.
murd0c
05-10-2012, 07:25 AM
You are better off changing the struts at the same time to save you the hassle but if you don't your ride might be a bit rougher until you do change them. Why wait the 20k change them now so you will be ready to go for the summer!!
MindBomber
05-10-2012, 07:58 AM
I agree with Murdoc, you're better off changing the struts when you install the lowering springs. You save the install time and the cost of an extra alignment doing it once.
Even in perfect, brand new condition, struts valved to control a 200lb spring will not be effective when paired with a 350lb lowering spring and as a result the ride will be harsh and performance poor. Since the struts are already old and the seals aren't holding as well anymore, the effects will just be worse.
If you really want to go ahead with it though, opt for springs with the lowest spring rates and therefore closest to stock you can find. Neuspeed springs are pretty close to stock, iirc.

Hands at 10 2, make sure you shoulder check everything, the left lane is only for passing so stay in the right lane when driving. Don't palm or hook your hand on the steering wheel while turning. Come to a complete stop at all stop signs and make you u can see the bottom of the cars tires in front of you when you do stop...
It's fricken simple you have nothing to worry about just drive and always be shoulder checking and shit.

Do not neutral drop, always keep the car in gear, downshift when appropriate, the ride has to be SMOOTH, if you stall/verge of stalling, you fail. If you shift and the car jitters, you get points deducted.

That's the point of marketing isn't it? To get people to buy shit they don't need?
Also it's not directly misleading cause they specifically say viewable screen size and nothing with resolution, picture quality or even "seeing more of your picture". If people choose to interpret it wrongly and make a purchase without asking the question, then clearly the marketing is sound.

I wouldn't reccomend taking your class 5 test with a manual car unless you are 100% comfortable with it. Auto is always better for driving tests because you don't have to worry about shitty shifts and stalls.
