Usually I’m in the don’t be overly sensitive camp as well, but in this case I think the flag represents intolerance rather than any sort of “straight pride”. The public still stigmatizes LGBTs, whereas straights don’t really face any of that. What reason is there for a “straight flag” other than to diminish the minority?

This is why you don't have city councils putting up rainbow flags or crosswalks. I have no problem with the flag itself or the message behind it, nor did the person who put up the straight flag, but it invites every other group or individual to insist on having their own flag raised. Like the public schools, either all religions get equal representation, which would be awful for students to have to sit through, or it all gets removed and you practice your religion on your own time. Keep government secular on paper and no one group can feel oppressed and lacking in representation.

I can’t believe the amount of drivers out there not having their car’s headlights on this morning. No headlights on means no taillights on. In this kind of fog, it’s pretty important to be seen. The problem is cars nowadays have dashes where the display is bright all the time making it look like everything is alright. Then there’s the auto headlights on feature. It’s daylight and headlights won’t come on. Anyway, RS’rs, be careful out there this morning. Turn your headlights on and look out for all the retards out there with no taillights on. Also clear your windshields. One minute out of your life may save it.

Extra hour of sleep Sunday, change your old school clocks, RS bishes. I believe it’s officially 2:00 am Sunday morning. At least that’s what it’s been for a long ass time.
EDIT: 3:00 am
I was charging the EV the morning of November 1st at the Grandview Hwy location. There's a huge crowd of people waiting for the doors to open. I sauntered over there after I plugged the car in. Holy bejeezuz, all these chinese ladies with carts and carts of Halloween chocolates. What the hell are you going to do with all that chocolate? We're talking 50 to 60 large boxes and bags.
Today I was at the Superstore near Coquitlam Centre. There were easily three full pallets of chocolates left over. What a difference.

Yeah seriously. On one hand, MAYBE they intend to buy it for their children, grandchildren. On the other hand, their children and grandchildren probably don't actually want it.
It's not just the halloween stuff, it's everything on sale. It's every morning when they bring out the "fresh" produce. How much can one elderly person or couple even eat?
You go to the North Van Superstore and they still have loads of candy left. Lol. Whenever there's a sale, I don't even bother going to the Grandview Superstore. Everything will be gone by the time i make it down there lol
Holy shit........... I forgot how many clocks and watches I have around the house. I love it when they're automatic, like the ones in the cars. I have this one clock I remembered I had in the back corner of the rape dungeon. It took me like 20 minutes to move shit away so I could get at it. Half way, I'm thinking to myself, "WTF. Why am I even bothering?" Then............. when I get to it, it's a plug in, BTW, it's the correct time, lol. It's been close to a year since being back there. Maybe more. It was around the time El Bastardo came visiting. Then there's the so called, "Atomic Clock," that I have in the garage. It's supposed to automatically connect with satellites and shit. Hasn't worked since day one. It says signal is strong enough............. anyway, carry on carrying on.
EDIT: I just realized it took me over an hour, the hour I was supposed to be gaining, adjusting all the clocks, gulolol.

Where's the next best/closest place to pick up BBQ meat now?
Honestly, the BBQ pork at Chong Lee was not good at all. I get BBQ Pork at Crystal Mall. It's not great, either, but I park in the underground parking lot at the library across the street and walk over. I'm sure there are good places in Richmond, but I value my life. I've gotten BBQ Pork from this place in Chinatown. It's actually called Chinatown BBQ. It's expensive, but I like it. Not everyone's cup of tea. Parking's not that bad on the street. There's a parkade close by that's free for the first 30 minutes (Keefer Street).
The BBQ pork at Price Mart isn't too bad.

Can't you just call around different shops and ask for a quote that is more suitable to your budget and then call for a tow from the dealership to the shop?
It's not like the dealership is restricting you to go to another shop to get your car fix... or are they?

Seems a bit much for just a clutch job, are they fixing something else too?
Possible options are if you don't want to pay the dealer $5k:
1) Pay them the diagnostic time they already put into it, then
a) drive it away (which you probably can't do since it was towed there)
b) tow it away from the dealership to another shop, back home, etc.
2) sell it as is while it sits at the dealer to someone on RS and have the buyer remove it from the dealership.

Hate speech :ahwow:
https://www.rt.com/news/444189-twitter-man-woman-ban-pc/
Twitter’s crusade against “hate speech” has vanquished yet another meany face. A prominent Canadian feminist says that the company flagged a tweet she wrote which meekly suggested that men aren’t women. Isn’t Twitter fun?
Meghan Murphy, editor of Canada’s leading feminist news portal, Feminist Current, was recently informed by Twitter that two of her tweets had violated the platform’s rules against “hateful conduct.”
One of the offending tweets stated that “men aren’t women,” while the other asked: “How are transwomen not men?”

Some people who had the surgery would later regret it as it does not end up addressing the underlying issues so they become scarred physically while still being scarred mentally. The suicide rate is still very high regardless.
These surgeries are publicly funded.

Question on installing a kitchen sink faucet.
My current Kitchen sink faucet is kind of like this style, 2 piece, where the hot/cold lever is separate.
https://secure.img1-ag.wfcdn.com/im/97673334/resize-h600%5Ecompr-r85/1345/13454411/Simplice+Two-Hole+Kitchen+Sink+Faucet+with+16-1/8%2522+Pull-Down+Swing+Spout%252C+Docknetik+Magnetic+Docking+S ystem%252C+ProMotion%25u2122%252C+MasterClean%25u2 122.jpg

Will there be issues cause of the different style of faucets or it's pretty straight forward and everything will be compatible?

If it has that plate at the bottom (I think they're usually removable) it should be fine, without the plate there'd be a hole where the lever was. Worst case if it doesn't fit just swap it back but from my understanding faucet hole sizing and spacing is mostly pretty standard.
Will there be issues cause of the different style of faucets or it's pretty straight forward and everything will be compatible?
Straight forward. No issues.
Only thing that might need to be addressed is the opening underneath to accommodate a larger nut or fastener.

OK, Thanks. I'm not as worried about the opening (seems straight forward), but more on the connections, like if the hot/cold water lines are going to be different if it's built into the faucet as opposed to being separate.
underscore
11-21-2018, 12:31 PM
You can take a look under there, but the connections to the flex lines should be the standard ones. I assume there's a line or something connecting the lever to the outlet on the old one that you'll have to disconnect but you won't have to worry about it for the new one.

These units typically include a single hole or a cover for multiple hole counters to be blocked, usually marked on the box also. Super easy installs, you shouldn't have any worries everything should be included with the Faucet. The Faucet itself will probably already have lines connected, so you just need to connect them to the shutoffs.

If it's the same Shine as the one on Terminal, then no. They have the rails on the side and the tire drive on thing that pulls you along.
The Esso on Kingsway near Willingdon doesn't have the rails, nor does the Mobil Lube Express on Bridgeport and No 5. Those are the ones that I've been to off the top of my head.

Jennifer believes the panel was noted as missing during a walk-through several months ago, but they thought it would have been in place by the time her parents moved in.
They knew glass was missing from walk through, and that wasn't the first thing they checked when they moved in?
“I won’t feel safe again for my son to play on the balcony.”
No parents should let 3 years old toddler play on high rise balcony, no matter what!
She would feel safe to let her son play if there was glass panel? Seriously?
“This whole building … What about the other people? Are other people experiencing the same thing? Are they scared of talking about it?”
Why would anybody scared to talk about missing glass panel?
Do they think builder will come and beat them up if they complain about missing stuff? wtf.....
Jennifer adds she needs some time before she even returns to her parents’ apartment.
omg... snowflake....
“I need some time to adjust to this incident. I won’t feel safe again for my son to play on the balcony.”
again, 3yr old should not be playing on the high rise balcony.

Does anyone else notice that people from Hong Kong "hongers" if you will (dated term I know) like to post photos of themselves going on vacation but not actually at their destination itself.
I'm puzzled by the fact so many of my facebook friends resident in HK keep posting photos of themselves in Airports (destination sign boards are especially popular) and on the plane (usually in First/Bus class) . However when I scroll through their pics there's none from the actual place they supposedly went to.
Is this a thing with hongers? Or is this just some stupid prank with going on with my circle of former classmates/friends? And before you ask, yes I do post a comment asking them but they go unanswered among the flurry of comments like "Have Fun!" or "Wah...so jealous!"

You didn't hear the Drake line "I know a girl that saves pictures from places she’s flown
To post later and make it look like she still on the go"
This is so common, I know many girls myself locally who go on IG and do the same thing. Post pics from last year, acting like they're on a trip that moment. It's all about flexing, showing a persona that isn't factual.
Jesus, at least tag it as a throwback.

I get what you’re saying but I think I’m describing something different altogether. It’s easy to spot a narcissist 20 something girl posting ‘gram worthy pics but I’m talking about 30 something men that post the following:
- a check-in post at the airport showing a map of the flight route
- a photo of the gate counter showing the destination sign
- an obligatory photo of the plane’s wing from inside the airport and/or the plane itself.
- a photo of their disgusting airplane meal
Then nothing. No pics from that hotel in Phuket or them munching on croissants in Paris. Their next post a couple weeks later is a picture of the check in counter showing “Hong Kong” as the destination. Along with a flurry of likes and well wishing comments.
If you’re wanting to instill jealousy in your FB friends wouldn’t you post pics of the actual amazing vacation itself? It’s bizarre and becoming so frequent I am beginning to think my HK FB friends are just going on mileage runs or all took jobs at the airport.

Does anyone know if the Trinity Street Christmas Light Festival still happens?
They toned it back quite a bit because it was becoming such a shit show with traffic and pedestrians. People parking in the middle of the street to let their kid roll down the window and being completely inconsiderate to other motorists and the people who live there.
I live pretty close, one night I’ll go walk over and report back whether it’s worth checking out or not
PSA: Guys, avoid Still Creek at all cost.
I just drove by there and it is fucking gong show.
The McDonald's parking lot is a lake. There were two cars there that were up to the top of the hood in water. I have no idea how, but the driver was inside the car in the middle of the now lake. The headlights were on and his wipers were going.
It must have been a flash flood. Theres no way he could have driven out in the middle like that.
I hope he wasn't thinking of driving out of there. Fire department and ambulances were there, but there's no way of getting to the middle of the parking lot. They'll have to bring in boats.
I'll post pic later when I get a chance. I even have dash cam footage.
Also, so many people out there who can't drive or use common sense. Never mind fucking snow, Vancouverites can't drive in the rain, either. You can see the road is flooded from blocks away, but people drive full speed into the water................. so dumb.
When you hit deep water, don't do anything. No sudden movements. Just foot off brake and keep steering straight (unless in middle of turn, in which case, you're screwed). The water will slow you right down.

Not necessarily true. I have prime and during this time i've received items from Amazon through Fedex, Purolator, Amazon Couriers, and Canada Post.
I was a little peeved that despite knowing the ongoing situation with Canada Post, they still shipped two of my packages via Canada Post. If they are going to guarantee two day delivery, all they had to do was use any of the other carriers. One of the packages came on time, but the other was delayed by a week.

Go to chat and chew on their agents and push to get some courtesy credits.
They are well aware of the situation and yet they don't change their shipping algorithm to exclude Canada Post. Sloppy as fuck.
If your items are from the BC warehouse, it will be delivered by their own courier. Otherwise, it's a mix between UPS, Puro (very rarely now) and Shitty Post.
I do have Prime. Unfortunately last year, I ordered a box of stuff they apparently delivered it to my apartment (no phone call). Needless to say, I had to get a reorder without charge but one item had to be changed because the one I ordered was no longer available from the warehouse.
They were good about it but I hope it doesn't happen again this year.

A bunch of ferry sailings have been cancelled today and I have a reservation for the Tsawassen-Duke Point at 8:15, which has not yet been cancelled. There is only one sailing after to follow it before their night is done. Has anyone experienced cancellations? Will those with reservations on cancelled sailings be given priority, bumping me to the 10:45 or into tomorrow or do they give the original reservation priority?

So according to a higher up at Canada Post who called me 7:58 in the morning when I told then to call me at 4 P.M. Tells me the word item on there website does is not in reference to my package but in reference to the whole shipment from UPS and that they don't have my package. At least 4 other front line workers who I talked to on the phone said they have my package. Have been waiting for this item since the 23rd that was shipped via UPS.

Going on a long shot here
Anyone happen to know a man who drives a black pick up with white christmas lights wrapped all around the back window? I'm guessing he lives in the Langley area since that's where we were at the McDonald's drive through on 200th and 84th. Waiting to get my order - XL black coffee, and I see him tap his card and then tap it again so I'm thinking great...this could take a while. He gets his order and drives off. I pull up and the guy gives me my coffee and tells me the other guy bought it for me. Awesome. I've no idea who he was but thanks! If anyone knows someone whose truck fits that description tell them I said thank you! :)

I'm looking for a basic part-time job (like cashier, barista...), I have immediate availability.
It doesn't have to be anything fancy...McDonald's, Starbucks, Safeway, Walmart etc. are all fine with me. Though, I had a first choice, it would be to work at Starbucks since they offer dental.
Anyway considering how close it is to Christmas, I wonder if companies have stopped hiring for the moment. I've heard from staff at a WorkBC centre some years ago that post-Christmas (Jan/Feb) is the slowest time for retail. I checked out the Starbucks subreddit just for the heck of it (since I was researching that company previously), and what I gleaned was that Starbucks' hiring blitz is well before the holiday rush, with hiring not picking up until mid-spring.
I mean I could wait until January but I want to get some part-time work ASAP.
I live near Sperling/Lake City Way Skytrain if that makes a difference.
Anyone else miss Woodward's Food Floor? I dearly miss their signature lasagne. It was, by far, the best lasagne money could buy. People often passed it off as their very own homemade lasagne.
Maybe it's because I haven't had it in a while, but their soft serve chocolate malt was simply amazing. So many good things. Bakery.................. oh..................my.............. god.

just add some security bars infront of it ala Vancouver special basements

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/423985-police-investigating-possible-sexual-assault-after-woman-in-coma-for-14
Police in Phoenix, Arizona are investigating after a woman in a coma for more than 14 years gave birth at a nursing facility.
A local CBS News affiliate, Arizona's Family, first reported the incident Thursday. According to their report, the victim, who remains unnamed, gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Dec. 29.
A whistleblower, who remains anonymous, told the CBS News affiliate that none of the staff knew she was pregnant.
“None of the staff were aware that she was pregnant until she was pretty much giving birth,” she said in a TV segment that disguised her voice and hid her face. “From what I’ve been told she was moaning. And they didn’t know what was wrong with her.”
In a statement, Hacienda HealthCare said it would also conduct an "internal review" to evaluate patient safety.
“As an organization, Hacienda HealthCare stands fully committed to getting to the truth of what, for us, represents an unprecedented matter," spokeswoman Nancy Salmon told Arizona's Family.
"We are already conducting a comprehensive internal review of our processes, protocols, and people to ensure that every single Hacienda resident is as safe and well cared for as possible. Anything less than that is unacceptable to our team, our company’s leaders and the communities we serve."
The victim has reportedly been a patient at Hacienda HealthCare facility in Phoenix for at least a decade after nearly drowning and falling into a coma.
Male staff are no longer allowed in the rooms of female patients at the facility as the investigation is underway.
The Arizona Department of Health Services said in a statement that it is also helping with the investigation.

Messy too. Always flicking their seed everywhere.
Here's what I got in my inbox yesterday from the Watershed Watch Salmon Society.
A little on the late side, since today is the last day to voice your opinion.
Dear XXXXXXX,
As you may have heard, B.C.’s Wild Salmon Advisory Council has been conducting some very limited public engagement sessions to hear citizen views on their proposed “Options for a Made In BC Wild Salmon Strategy" and tomorrow is the last day to comment.
We have serious concerns with this council, their recommendations, and the entire process, which is excluding conservation groups, academic scientists, interior B.C. communities, and ignoring important threats like salmon farms, over-fishing and climate change, while proposing disastrous ideas like industrial scale artificial hatcheries.
Please add your voice by commenting online now or by emailing wildsalmonsecretariat@gov.bc.ca.
You can read Options for a Made In BC Wild Salmon Strategy here.
Here’s what we think the council needs to hear:
Include conservationists, scientists, and more interior B.C. voices on the Wild Salmon Advisory Council.
Hold public meetings in communities throughout the BC interior (all but one of their 7 meetings were in coastal communities).
Take strong action to further implement B.C.’s new Water Sustainability Act, including protecting stream flows for salmon, charging a fair price for water to industrial users, and allowing more local control of watershed planning.
Stop ignoring the threat that salmon farms pose to wild salmon and remove salmon farms from all wild salmon migrations routes
Focus on restoration and protection of WILD salmon and their natural habitats and forget about artificial hatcheries, which harm wild salmon and mask the real problems.
Support the federal government in restricting fisheries that impact endangered salmon runs, and transitioning to “known-stock” salmon fisheries that can harvest abundant salmon runs with minimal impact on endangered runs.
Develop and implement recovery plans for endangered steelhead and support federal efforts to recover and rebuild the many at-risk salmon populations that are under federal jurisdiction.
Global warming is wreaking havoc on our salmon and B.C. must meet or exceed our greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Thank you for taking the time to show Premier Horgan and the BC Wild Salmon Advisory Council that British Columbians expect a comprehensive and effective strategy for our wild salmon, before it is too late.
Below is the link to the government's feedback form.
https://feedback.engage.gov.bc.ca/253769?lang=en
I joined the society because they look after our salmon. As far as I know, they are not a radical group. I don't go to their meetings or do anything else except donate some money to their cause. I am totally against fish farming and that is the main reason for me getting involved. Atlantic Salmon has no business being in our waters in open pens. They need to be on land in tanks where they cannot spread any diseases or invade our waters - they are an invasive species. Open water fish farming has been banned in Europe for years now, because it has been proven to be damaging to wild stock. Yet, we continue to allow greedy companies with no cares about the welfare of our environment to continue operating in our waters. I am not a tree hugger, but when it comes to preserving this beautiful province of ours for our children's and their children's children, damn right I'm going to do my part. /rant.
EDIT: I realized the link that was imbedded in the text from the e-mail did not show up in the post, so here it is.......

If your car is running, you're using gas.
Riding the clutch means the clutch is partially disengaged. This will prematurely wear out your flywheel and disc. Plus your leg will not be happy.
Do you drive a car that has a fuel efficiency meter on it?
So does this mean that clutch isn't being worn when it's pushed all the way to the floor (fully disengaged)?
I've been practicing hill start by going up the hill 5-10 meters then neutralling down with gravity (with clutch to the floor to try again). Unsure if the clutch is getting killed when pushed all the way down.
SpeedStars
01-22-2019, 08:26 PM
The clutch is disengaged from the flywheel so it's just spinning and not making contact with anything when you push the pedal all the way down. If anything, you would be wearing out the throw out bearing.

My engine had a blown spark plug sleeve. It would have started but for all they know it would have caused more damaged to start.
I’ve had vehicles towed 3-4 times and they’ve never asked to start it or attempt to fix whatever the issue was. Each time I was legitimately towing it to a mechanic but I wouldn’t think it would be any different just to tow anywhere really

The cheapest I've found is Homedepot in the US. Sturdy boxes cost from 80ct to $1.70... I've yet to find anywhere in the lower mainland for anything cheaper and same quality.
HD Canada adds 30% price for some reason and the next closest competitor is CT... but I find them to be less sturdy than the HD ones.
Quite frankly though, unless this would be the last time you move, check when Costco has them on sale, their plastic storage boxes (huge black ones with yellow lid) can be had for 5.99 a pop (regular I think is 8.99?) and invest a set of them.
They stack up nicely and are almost impossible to break. Amazingly easy to clean too. I just use a pressure washer.
I'm against the idea of buying boxes (enviro-reason) but hate re-using boxes... NEVER USE food boxes!!! That's how cockroaches migrate... their eggs can be anywhere on those boxes as they are easy to hide.

1) When in first gear and I am about to let go of the clutch, the RPMs dip from ~1,500 down to ~1,000 which results in a slight jolt as I get into gear. Does this happen to anyone else or is this something that can be solved with practice?
Or could this be due to intake valve gunk from the GDI engine?
2) When creeping in a busy (Costco) parking lot or in downtown traffic, is riding the clutch pedal for what seems like a very long time going at like 3-5km/h normal? Is there another way?

Why is it $5 more to park at Costco across the street vs $30 right at Rogers arena?

1) have you tried releasing the clutch slower? Sounds like you might be dropping it if it jolts. Keeping the rpms closer to 1500 might stop it from happening too.
2) stay in 1st and just push the clutch back in until you need to move again.

The ICBC 5k max pay out now.
Someone I know is thinking they'll get some great pay out on top of the max 5k from not being able to go to work for a month. So out of curiosity is loss of time at work included in that or is that something completely separate?
Either way I think he's an idiot but I'd like to get ready to laugh at him if I can.

As a member of Jericho Tennis club it has been common knowledge for months that they were caught having sex in the highly visible public hot tub in August when he was still Mayor. Global news came looking for sources, which they got, but never posted the story. It is an absolute embarrassment that while Gregor was still Mayor he used his position to proclaim his girlfriend’s birthday as “Shahrzad Rafati Day” and, judging by her social media photos, gave her the document while on vacation
Also, I didn't realize he declared a day for her.

I don't know about now but they were a supremely crappy dealership at their old location.
I will say though when I drive by their new location is that it doesn't look very inviting. I feel like they have waaaaay too much inventory and most of it collects dust, probably because their prices are so high. Oh but they offer financing. Yes, let's finance a 20+ year old vehicle in questionable condition and get an extended warranty for extra $$$ on top.
I wouldn't go there. Not sure if they still try to sue people to talk negatively about them.

Me don’t care. I drive an electric vehicle. I do have gas vehicle, but I only drive it to go down to Bellingham. I spent hundreds on “the best” gear when I was still in construction. Helly Hansen lined “breathable” rain coats and pants, thermal lined carhart hoodies, $250 Dunlop rubber boots, etc you always get wet. Whether it’s rain and water from working or sweat.
Get good base layers and bring a change of clothes for mid-day is about as good as it gets.
Working outside in west coast weather was a big reason I took a huge pay cut and made a career change. Hated my life dragging my ass to work everyday when it was raining and for most of my work in the later years I was a superintendent and it was still the shits..lol

This David....
Honda hit it spot on. I would have to say, the boots made a difference though. Good rubber boots and I changed my wool socks at lunch, so worth the money.
But the gear, I also spent hundreds if not thousands.
To sum it up, here's the crap I got.
Columbia titanium shell
Helly Hansen..Multiple jackets, even the supposedly best one at marks was Garbage (the greenish one).
Red wing boots, insulated and non
Long Viking Rain Jacket
Crappy rain jackets when I was cheap in the beginning, like Stormtech crap.
PVC Carhartt, you'll sweat so much, it's not even worth it.
If I had to do it over again, or a new kid asked me.
Like Honda said, Quality base layers, wool or icebreakers. So even if you get wet, you won't die from the sweat. Etc.
Heck, as crazy as it sounds, I'd hit up Arcteryx outlet or craigslist and find some heavily discounted Goretex Shell jackets/pants, buy 2 top/bottom, then change out at lunch or when it's soaked. Properly wash and treat them. Being construction, any rips, just use some duct tape or waterproof tape
But definitely I suggest the Gum boots and Wool socks.
Again, you'll get wet, whether from your own sweat or the rain. But comfortability wise, a nice wool wicking base layer and a shell and some gold bond for the balls.
P.S. wait till the cold rain or snow. Sucks 100x than the rain in the summer (which is nothing in comparison)

The Dunlop rubber boots will be the best $250 you’ve ever spent. Even if you have steel toes currently having them as your second pair will be a life saver in the rain. Especially if you’re s plumber or electrician etc and work in the trenches occasionally
If you’re interested in them at all do not cheap out and opt for the Dakota knock offs, they are garbage

Agreed with most of what was said, if its raining, you're probably going to get wet eventually but there are some ways you can improve things. There is a big difference between getting wet in the first 15 minutes of your shift, and staying dry until middle of the afternoon.
Lined rubber boots. Don't even pretend to think leather 'work boots' are going to stay dry, including goretex or other waterproof boots. 80% of wet feet are actually caused by water wicking up your pants and down your socks into your boots too. My rain boots are as comfortable as my best work boots.
Outerwear. The more waterproof it is, the less it breaths, and you get wet from the inside out so stuff like full rubber rain gear, while it will keep you dry, its going to suck. Helly Hansen impertech is fairly decent at its price point, but breath-ability sucks.
Also if you're wearing good goretex stuff, the less layers you have on underneath the better. Goretex works by having a temperature difference between the inside and the outside. essentially, the heat from your body being higher than the ambient temperature outside 'pushes' moisture thru the goretex. the more layers you have on insulating your body heat from your outer shell, the less that thermal difference is, and the less efficient the process works.
Base layers are definitely the key. Im a big merino fan, but if you're going to maybe get wet in a short burst, and then have an opportunity to take your rain gear off and dry out, synthetic is much much faster at drying.

I wore my Sorel waterproof winter boots all year long when working outside and I only ever had wet feet from sweat. I bought them back in 2001 and I wore them until the stitching came apart this past winter. So they are durable.

^Closest in appearance to the boots I have.
I had a set of loose fitting Columbia rain pants and jacket which I could put on or remove without removing my boots and they did a decent job, but they don't breath well so I had them off as soon as the rain let up.

Becoming a plumber. Yah i got those 250 dunlop boots. They are sweet!
I wore rain gear overall and i was dry. But wet from the sweat like you guys mentioned. It gonna rain hard this friday. I thought of getting those waterproof jackets you see alot at sport check (HH. North face. Etc....) That should get me thru the spring. Winter will be another story. Need pants to. Hate wet underwear haha
Heck. I even considered wearing a plastic garbage bag as anjacket/poncho. Cheap and dont care if it gets rippped

Awesome that a company took the chance on ya an apprenticeship.
A goretex shell and poncho is sometimes what I wear on really really shitty days. Definitely not a crazy idea.
Don't get a bib style rain pants if do.....when you have the rock a piss, it's a bitch.

Ill probably try the base layers and bring extra clothes.
Never ever wore base layers in my life. Looks weird

Yea. Glad a company took me on. I almost gave up on plumbing because no one would hire me and was job less for 5 months
In hindsight. I should have became an electrician. Less physical and cleaner haha

Have you seen anything as stupid and mismanaged as this? It's just a friggin payroll system! You mean you couldn't adapt one of the many working systems out there and had to come up with one from scratch that doesn't work ??!! Way to effectively use our tax dollars.
Phoenix pay system cost could total $2.6B before cheaper replacement ready.

^Rest assured someone made a lot of money selling that system, and those in government who helped push for it, will have nice cushy jobs in the private sector as their reward.
Fucking hell, I’m charging the EV at the Homer Street DC Fast Charger and everything there is sticky. The sidewalk, the chargers, everything. I notice what looks like tree sap on the car. I was like fucking hell, then this lady in the Tesla in front of me says, “That’s not tree sap. It’s aphid droppings. Okay, I run back into the car. I’m not going to be pissed on by a thousand aphids, lol.
The next Charger down the street opened up and it’s void of trees, so I just charged in that spot. Checking the roof of the car, sure enough, five aphids the same colour as the leaves, were crawling around.

Thats not very physical. Plumber gotta carry tools and pipes and dig trenches then bury them.
Plus working with some Jman olumber all they do is scream lol. I never see electricians do it

Low voltage/data is a great trade IMO. I’m not on the tools myself but it’s typically a clean/safe work environment and anyone worth their salt could basically hand pick who they want to work for and make good money doing it. Techs typically get a vehicle, phone, laptop etc. provided as well by the bigger outfits.
All the top companies in BC are always looking for good people and there’s been a shortage of quality TQ’d techs in security for 20+ years. Low voltage is consistently growing as technology evolves and the security market is considered somewhat of a “recession proof” industry. This is because when times are tough, crime tends to increase and those with money spend to protect their businesses/properties.
Good programs available at BCIT for anyone looking.

Definitely good if you can specialize in something like access control. I like that they've now included it in the curriculum. Alarm installers are a dime a dozen especially if you work for a big company (ADT, Brinks, etc come to mind.) They can hire anyone off the street with no criminal record and train them in a day to install wireless contacts and sell monitoring contracts.
I completed the Security Systems Tech program at BCIT about 10 years ago. With 16 students in the class, 14 graduated. Probably 2 are still in the trade. Technology has improved so much and prices have become more affordable for people to install their own equipment. If you have the installer's manual you can figure out the wiring and programming. Gone are the days of programming panels with a PC550 keypad and converting binary numbers in your head.
If you do low voltage, then you should go do fire alarms.
That is definitely recession proof lol and shits always 10 years behind.
That type of work is for crack heads.

on a serious note, to play devil's advocate to yray, if you consider the fire alarm tech route, go invest the time to be a sparky, and get exp & be good at FA work, you can work for FA tech companies, or be the FAG for electrical firms... Fire Alarm Guy :troll: Kappa
you'll never be out of work. there's always need an electrician that knows what the fuck they're doing with fire alarm systems.
my 2 cents, that's about all it's worth...

Anybody has a solution to those damn annoying Mandarin robocalls ... they are getting so frequent. Coming in on land line so can't block like I can with cell phone.
I kept blocking the calls and I've not had a call in about a month now. You're referring to those, "Ching Chong, Ling Long, Ting Tong," calls, right?
Mandarin, eh? It all sounds chinese to me................

Got a safeway gas discount for Shell stations, says you need need to provide a coupon yet gives you the option to use the code at the pump.
Anyways 4 cents off a litre. up to 75 litres. 3 bucks...better than nothing?
No use for me

How do I get rid of Rev Hang on a Honda K24?
People say you can "tune it out", but what does that mean? Does a box need to be connected to the car's computer?

30% off sale at Marks, Pretty rare.
Often it's 20%, and that's about 4x a year. So this is a very good deal. Maybe combine with ebates or something
They had a 30% off storewide sale a month or two ago. I got me a pair of jeans for scary cheap. It was a buy one get 2nd pair for 50% off, then the 30% kicked in after that discount.
Socks this time......... maybe another old man, bucket hat. My trusty, "Angel of the Winds Casino," hat is getting pretty beat up. It's my, "Indiana Jones," go to, hat. Wouldn't be caught dead not wearing it, gulolol. Well, the sun is out more now and I have to protect the noggins. Heat stroke at my age is no fun.
EDIT: I just remembered. The last 30% off was Mother’s Day sale. If I can find the receipt and fill out some on-line survey, I get a code for another $10.00 off a $50.00 purchase. Such win!
Also, the sale is on till tomollow, so buy something now, get the receipt, and do the survey to get code for later today or tomorrow. I’m gonna get that black belt san dan for killer frugalness, gulolol.

Telus now offers a similar service for anyone called “Babylon” it’s an app where you skype with a doctor and they can do pretty much anything from prescriptions to referrals. Works pretty great actually I’ve used it a few times.
If you link it with your family doctor they will update your records with them as well

The Shaw box at my parent's cottage, an Arris HDDSR 600, is shutting down and rebooting every 5 minutes. Shaw can't seem to find a problem.
-power is supplied by a new Honda 7000Watt generator which is capable of powering devices which draw much more power like the washer, dryer, and microwave.
- coax cable goes to to a Shaw satellite dish.
- it has had all the connections disconnected and reconnected, including plugging the power into the wall instead of the powerbar
- it has been powercycled for more than 5 minutes
- all the bandwidth checks on various channels came up normal
- the setup has worked fine for the past few years, we even tried running it on the old generator and it still has the same issue.
I suspect the box is the issue, but Shaw doesn't seem keen on the idea of replacing it.
