So looks like I'll be stuck in Costa Mesa/Irvine for a week. Is there anything to do there?
I've been to Huntington Beach and Newport, should I just take an uber down there every evening?

Huntington Beach is Surf City. One of my American cousins lives there with her hubby and kids. She says that there are plenty of parks in the area to visit.
As for Newport, if you're interested in looking at marine life, there are whale watching tours.

Yeah I've been to the 3 OC beaches (Huntington, Newport, Laguna was the nicest) way back in 2010 I'm sure a bit has changed.
Probably not much time to do much sightseeing maybe just walk around in the evening? Any good eats?
I guess nothing near the OC airport? Just blocks and blocks of office parks it seems

Depending on when you are going, the OC Fair is starting in a day or two (OCFair.com) If time permits, maybe check out Newport Beach? Not the end of the world if you don't. Otherwise, not much to do in that area. You'll have to venture out.
Or maybe get yourself an American education at the University of California, Irvine. :derp:

If you're with friends or family renting a Duffy boat (or similar) and cruising around is pretty nice (https://www.duffyboats.com/rent-newport-beach/).

Irvine is like koreatown of orange county, lots of good korean restaurants.
Best to have a car if you wanna go explore newport beach. The balboa peninsula is pretty neat and has a pier and also a ferry to go back to the mainland without driving all the way out. Fashion Island if you like high end mall.

The Triennial Northwest Deuce Days is in Victoria is this weekend. 1300+ cars from all over US and Canada, they basically shut down all the roads around the inner harbour. It's quite the spectacle.

My wife and I went to see the Weeknd the other day. Lots of GenZ had tickets and since I don't see a lot of GenZ in my day to day, here are a few observations:
- They seem afraid to talk to people and ask questions. I've never seen so many people be in the wrong seat in a stadium before. There were two young women in our seats and we told them that. They retorted that there were two other people in their seats. My wife told them that that's not our problem and told them to move. We probably saw like 5-6 groups of people in wrong seats in the 2-3 rows around us.
- Lots of women were dressed to draw attention, to put it mildly. I get it - it's a concert. But there were lots of them in groups and no groups of guys chatting them up in the concourse, in the lines, etc. Not a lot of young couples or at the very least, young male orbiters. Most of the couples we saw were boomer milllennials, like us.
- Lots of GenZ were eager to capture photos and videos, but I didn't really get the sense that they were actually having a good time, which was sad to see. I didn't really see a lot of joy in faces, if you know what I mean.
The concert was great though and I got to spend time with my wife.

Work with a few gen z straight out of school, none of them can hold a conversation.
Has anyone ever applied PPF themselves? I’m looking at these sheets on Amazon my sunroof gets a shit load of gunk and dirt built up inside the track from sitting under trees and I’m debating just PPF’ing over the sunroof to keep it sealed
If I buy a sheet that will cover it is it easy enough to apply?

Yes, I gave up LOL. You need a heat gun and we had a hair dryer in an underground garage. Could not get it to work. We either stretched it too much or not enough or at the wrong places.
Color wrap is a lot easier as the vinyl is thinner and easier to stretch right.

So i too have an interesting story about these young whipper snappers.
My buddy at work is a horn dog. He has like 3 ex wives and a basket of kids or something. But since we are all grossly overpaid, he can afford an interesting lifestyle.
Anyways, a couple of years ago they sent this gen z intern to him for a couple of months. GORGEOUS. blonde, big ass, big tits, dumb as a fucking post. He tried FOREVER.. LIKE FUCKING FOREVER to bone her. no luck. He showered her with gifts, basically gave her no work, and took her to all the industry events.. nope nada...
She finished her internship, he was super sad, and she went on to something else.
A few months ago, he teams me this pic and BOOM. there she was on Leolist. LIKE FUCKING thats her for sure. He used a burner phone, called her up and had her meet him at his house.
This hoe shows up, bitched him out and called him a stalker, AND THEN REFUSED to do him.
WHAT SORT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS!?!?!?!
He was FURIOUS !!!! im pretty sure he wanted to choke her out.
Moral of the story: Gen Z's are the worst. A whore with standards is right up there with Hitler.

Uhhhh I think your coworker will probably get sued for workplace harassment tbh. It's not that she didn't know about his advances .. it's more likely she was ignoring it (and collecting evidence if she's smart and wants a payday)

Speaking of harassment, a lot of GenZ/younger Millennial men (myself included) won't approach someone in fear of being called a creep or worse - cancelled. Yes, you read that right. These whores will dress like one, without a bra and all, and if someone were to approach them they'll say smt about how they don't dress for the male gaze / just cause they wear smt doesn't mean they want attention ("asking for it" = rapey). Seeing how easy shit spreads like wildfire and how no one fact checks, it's way too damn risky. I know about 3-4 people that were falsely accused in a rape or harassment claim and got their lives ruined. Good people.

thats also probably why i see a lot of gen z guys being so timid when it comes to women. They are already lacking the social skills thanks to all this technology crap, now you add the risk of getting cancelled or called out by these whores and you might as well go fuck dudes.

I mean, honestly, the problem is with handling rejection at that point isn’t it?
Cuz they’re kinda doing you a favour, I’d be pleased as punch if I approached some girl in my younger years and she showed her crazy to me right off the bat so I could take a fuckin walk the other way before investing anything in her and THEN finding out she’s psych ward eligible.
I mean, it’s nothing personal to get rejected and it’s their problem if they can’t handle a simple mating interaction lol

So your going to get a rectangle sheet of PPF and throw it on the top of your car to cover the seal of your sunroof?
That sounds as ghetto as LVP in a staircase pattern! Or tile that has 1 design and all put in the dame direction!
If you're serious about just throwing a big rectangle sheet on top, then it should be pretty easy since it's flat.

I have no clue how so much shit gets in the sunroof but it’s literally clogging the drains over a few months multiple times a year
I’ll wipe it clean and clean the entire track and drains and within 3-4 months of sitting outside it will be filled with shit again, I’m over it
I was considering just taping the seam which is even more ghetto lol

That's funny you made those observations, because that was ours as well.
GenZers almost seem autistic at times, really shy to ask questions or engage more so then prior generations.
I'm gonna sound boomer but I'm also surprised how sexualized kids are going out dressed by themselves nowadays, saw groups of 14-16 years olds wearing nothing at all, I didn't expect The Weeknd to have that kind of fan demographic.
The lack of hunting. In my party days at an event like that we'd be walking around getting numbers and trying to pick up chicks, I rarely see young guys doing that anymore, I don't see it at events or festivals, not even the beach anymore.
It's quite odd.
It was hot as fuck in the arena on the floor, we were dying at some portions of the concert, especially when leaving from down there.

I know (knew of now) of some chick that put a dude on blast for hitting on her friends. Something about feminism blah blah blah. Dude did nothing wrong and there wasn't more to the story - in fact the dude shared all the receipts (screenshots/interactions) following the cancellation. And these fucking crazy ass women take one thing and just run with it, completely out of of context.
In another case, someone I know quite well had a fight with his gf, she got physical, he called the cops. She pressed charges on him. He got arrested and went to court. Actually, I know 2-3 people in this situation, because cops (and the public) generally takes the women's side of things automatically, even if she's clearly the aggressor.

Women, nowadays (or maybe it's always been like that), act like children or boys. When they feel embarrassed (maybe her gfs are teasing her or the guy isn't attractive enough to approach her), they tend to lash out and they lash out in this way. Or they think that by using this experience to step on someone else, will make her more suitable or attractive to higher "level" partners - AKA doing it for the publicity

Yeah the irony to that shit is that they also parrot "men aint shit" "all men are trash" and "all men want is sex" lol
So now you have the problem of men actually respecting women who don't want to be respected (despite them saying that) and now these men are lesser because it's too risky to make a move.
Anyway, I went on date and I thought it went pretty well, but I think she just wanted business tips and tricks from me LOL. Considering the lack of a reply, following my post date text. Yes well, it was obvious that dating completely switched from the 90's and 00's to the explosion of apps and the smart phone around 2010...
6 months of Tinder being released and women's brains had been fried from so much attention and a non-stop supply of dick.
Women themselves started noticing that everyone had suddenly become these huge secret sluts. In one friend group of 9 women, I banged 8 of them in a matter of like a couple weeks hanging out with one right after another, and then my friend banged like 4 of them. Really hot Kits girls and their friends... mid 20's when I was in my 30's. Not dates... just like, meet up at the beach, or in a friend group go to a restaurant, art show, whatever... and then be flirty... and if she comes back to your house later, she's probably more interested in getting laid than you are!
Things like the apps... they killed serendipity but also broke down the walls of what was considered a "date", if you had people hanging out at your house, for example, and you were flirting with a woman in your friend group, it's not a date, she was just tagging along with other friends, but how many times did the girl I just meet stay with me after her friends left? Even one of my old friends who was still super hot with big tits, she was abusing online dating so much by getting taken out for dinner every night of the week with ZERO INTENTION of dating anyone... she just loved the free expensive food! Then someone started recognizing her at places like Black & Blue and all these other places she had guys take her. She was well-fed, probably had like 5k in dinners bought for her every month.
And then the situationship was born...

Very interestingly, I just listened to a podcast about the effect of dating apps on our society (https://open.spotify.com/episode/3nFIx6VYyz48LUArmiiE8m?si=c6e24604d56b451a) by Scott Galloway
Some tidbits here:
Third places don't exist anymore. Sense of community is gone. So the "third" place is now dating apps - 50% online.
Technology + Mating, in terms of dating apps has a created a winner take all or winner take most dynamic. Mating inequality is greater than income inequality in Venezuela (50 men, 50 women, 46 women will take interest in 4 men, leaving 46 men trying to get the attention of just 4 women). The top 10% of attractiveness online get 90% of the interest. If your Tinder profile is went to Stanford, just started a startup, your Rolex is "accidentally" visible in the profile pic and your geolocated in Manhattan or Beverley Hills, you're going to get a massive amount of attention. The bottom half of people are not able to express anything other than wealth, which they may not have, are totally shut out of the market.
Its what started all this incel shit to begin with. all these nice guys who never get squat.
And here's where it gets a little spicy, apparently the knock on effect of this is that society is producing too many dangerous people in the world - young, broken, alone men. (aka school shooter types)
We are producing an enormous cohort of economically and emotionally nonviable men. There's a whole generation of young men that have no motivation and no guardrails. They get their dopamine addiction hit from trading. They don't have the mojo to get out there to meet women as much, cause they're watching so much porn. They get this illusion that if they have some sort of worth or affirmation when they say angry things on social media that they get rewarded for. They blame other people, specifically women, and they become more prone to misogynistic content. Start believing in conspiracy theories and less likely to believe in climate change and start becoming really shitty citizens.
The scary part is that we'll just ignore the weirdo and put them into the corner. But apparently the problem is that governments pander to these people for votes, so you have unproductive people have a disproportionate voice in politics (aka what Trump did and what PP attempted to do)

I'm gonna sound boomer but I'm also surprised how sexualized kids are going out dressed by themselves nowadays, saw groups of 14-16 years olds wearing nothing at all, I didn't expect The Weeknd to have that kind of fan demographic.
True this. As a dad, there is no freaking way I'm gonna let my daughter dress like that.
(On the flip side, if I was still a teenage boy, I'd be all over this.)

Much like BIC, I know of some guys who got put on blast for basically daring to ask "Hey you're cute can I buy you a drink?"
The girls said no, dude backed off, next he knows he's getting blasted on FB for daring to approach them.
You want to know why in person dating is dead these days? That's why

Related context: At my last visit with the paediatrician we asked when puberty starts and the doc says as early as 9 that you could see breast development which was kinda shocking to hear (periods usually follow 2.5y after breast development starts). Puberty has consistently gotten earlier and earlier over the decades due to better nutrition and, presumably, more chemicals in our water, air and food.
So the physical maturity of a 15 year old is quite different than it was 30 years ago (or 60 years ago), add to that our more liberal values now and it's no surprise that kids are dressing more provocatively now - what was our dress code for a college kid is now the dress code for a 15 year old.

My wife’s cousin has a daughter who is pretty reserved I think she’s like 13-14? She’s the typical kid you envision from when we grew up. They tried to limit her phone use, she still dresses fairly conservative etc. maybe a bit over the top with makeup following social media trends but I wouldn’t say she is physically mature
They had a get together last summer and their other friend brought over their daughter the same age. This girl has like double D’s hanging out of a tiny top, biking shorts with a huge ass bulging out blown out makeup and hair
Even the wife’s cousin was like embarrassed to have this girl around at their place :Lol a stark contrast

Ahhh yes gen z....
This sounds like a good prologue to a porno

Despite the earlier and earlier physical maturity, I'd hardly think that people's mental maturity has moved up all that much. Supposedly, brain development doesn't fully complete until about ~25 anyway.
So the mismatch between physical and mental state gets even bigger, and I can't say that is a good thing at all.
Anecdotally, I'd also say that some of the older kids at elementary school seem to be gr 10 / gr 11 sized, even though their facial features still look gr 6 or 7.
Related context: At my last visit with the paediatrician we asked when puberty starts and the doc says as early as 9 that you could see breast development which was kinda shocking to hear (periods usually follow 2.5y after breast development starts). On the note of the physical maturity / mental maturity thing, I've been going on a few dates recently, and I personally can't date anyone under 24. On a physical attribute, people in their early 20s still look like HS kids to me, whereas people in their early 30s look like the new 20s (God, women in their early 30s are so baadd lmfao).
On the note of mental maturity, there's a clear lack of maturity between pre-quarter life crisis and post-quarter life crisis. AND before you geezers say something about that, it's a well documented thing. On a podcast I listened to this morning, the mid-life crisis happens when your children leave home and are grown up, leaving individuals who spent the last 20 years (or more) nurturing their kids questioning what to do with their life. Contrary to that, the quarter life crisis happened because of societal expectations. We grew up in a time where our parents would have been our age now and having kids, having their shit together (you'd think), and so now when we reach the same age our parents had us, you get questions of I need to do ____ by ____ age.
Someone I met recently started a community event to talk about the quarter life crisis and I think it's pretty cool to shed some light on what most people try pretty hard to shelter - the insecurities, vulnerabilities, etc. Similarly to what you guys have done for me - creating a space where I can process these thoughts. It's awesome to see people who see a need in the world and a desire to help.

Quarter life crisis is for sure a thing. I'd say I had mine when I was 25 and really started to worry about how tf I was going to afford an apartment on my own with no help whatsoever financially. My friends/coworkers were in the same boat as we began our careers and thoughts of marriage/kids/property etc were creeping in. It's a stressful thing and especially so if you feel like you have no guidance or direction in your life. But then again, some of us at that age (and even until now) have no such thoughts or worries. To me, this is where we separated ourselves from the friends/acquaintances that we think of as "left behind" when we see them now compared to where we think they ought to be by now. Recognizing the issues and finding solutions and making sacrifices is part of growing up. Some of us just never did.

I think you guys who are having quarter-life crises are because you never had a chance to be a kid. you took on the mantle of adulthood way too early. No 20-year-old should be strapped with a mortgage.
Now you add in all this technology, social problems, bad economy, horrible role models, and you surround yourself with rich ass faggoty geezers who spend all day trolling an internet forum and of course youre gonna be depressed as shit. One piece I'll tell you to look forward to Dic_baws. Shit changes big time when you pass through that crisis era. If all goes as planned, you really stop giving a fuck about trying to please everyone.
When I hit like 28 it all changed. I didn't need to be friends with everyone. I'm not saying I didn't want to be nice to people, but the faking it went out the window. I'm a social guy, so I always wanted to be surrounded by people no matter what, but with the decrease in free time I realized it's way better to be surrounded by your favourite people sometimes than just be surrounded by people all the time. I don't think most people know who the fuck they are in their 20s. It's for figuring it out, then in your 30s you become that person. Some people never figure it out, but I think lots of that comes from people that stuck themselves into something before they figured it out.

Remember, every woman gets flirted with and hit on many times a day, every single day. 99% of guys will blend into the probabiliy wave form of men she deals with constantly and you'll be forgotten within seconds.
Aura farm. Self-generate your own special sauce of being a man. When you react different to her, you'll be the first guy out of the last 100 to surprise her. Chicks who are HOT are used to being drooled over by desperate simps constantly... you need to make them feel like they are an option to you and not put them on a pedestal.
Even if you're broke as fuck you can get women with this method. In 2025, 99% of guys are afraid of saying the wrong thing... literally the "wrong thing" is what is going to get her attracted to you.
To distill this down to one sentence, you want to be aloof and mysterious, not down-to-earth and predictable.

Women will post guys on that group even if they haven't even met in person, just a Tinder match, or whatever.

LOL dude have you seen the men's version of this - "Are we dating the same girl? (http://facebook.com/groups/895371878358379)". Chicks will make fake FB accounts to get into the men's group to snoop and put people on blast in the women's group. Fucking white trash nutjobs. Also there's lore that the women invaded the original group and got it taken down for abuse/harassment, yet the women are doing the same shit. Double standards.
Or it's some dude (usually Indian) posting a chick and the response goes:

The smart phone and other tech broke dating completely.
Now EVERYONE is a "Tarzan", swinging from one vine to the next but only when they have a firm grasp on the new vine do they let go of the old one. Anyone who has any experience in dating post-smart phone knows that when you are dating someone and you don't have kids... both people are likely to be flirting and keeping their options open even years into a relationship.
Guys... ask yourself how many times you've seen this situation in your life or your friend's lives:
Man A meets Woman B
Become couple
Happy social media and everyone thinks they're a happy couple
5-10 years go by and they're still "in love"
Big post made on anniversary where the woman makes a post of how much she loves her boyfriend but you can tell something is off in the post
Couple weeks go by and boyfriend's Facebook suddenly goes private/dark
Woman B suddenly shows off new cooler boyfriend in better shape with more money
Man A's Facebook active again but profile picture looks depressed
Woman B is pregnant/married in under 1-2 years with a bad boy's kid
Man A never recovers and becomes an incel Discord mod & huge pot-bellied Canucks fan goes bald and grows a beard
Woman B lives her best life after ejecting from long term comfortable relationship

I think a lot of these scenarios laid out on the last few pages are for, lack of a better term, basic bitches, on both sides of the sexes.
If you’ve got no money, no hobbies, no friends, dead end jobs, yea you’re probably going to seek out thrills your relationship isn’t providing.

I’ve seen plenty of dudes in my circles dump their women and be super successful after or get a younger chick and their women are too old to start over and turn into spinsters… it goes both ways.
If you’re over 40 as a single woman wanting more you might as well be dead, but a guy can keep chugging along… all the ideas above are stuck in the realm of people in their mid 20’s or early 30’s that didn’t have a sense of self when they committed to someone else.

Had an interesting interaction yesterday (warning, story time).
As I mentioned earlier in the thread it's Deuce days this weekend, freaking awesome. My wife and I went downtown to watch them all arriving and cruising around downtown (IMO it's better than the actual Sunday car show because you get to see & hear them driving around).
It was a beautiful night we had a table on the patio of Belleville's, which is the restaurant right across the street from the Black Ball Ferry Terminal (the Ferry from Port Angeles Washington).
It was neat watching all the hot rods unload off the ferry, drew a big crowd.
Between all the Deuce Day people, and the cruise ships there was a shit ton of people and tourists in town, it was absolutely buzzing (except that there were a few "elbows up" protesters waving signs in front of the Legislature, but whatever).
Anyways, there were a couple of guys at the table next to us and we started chatting. They were here from Alberta for the event, they parked their trailer in Tsawwassen and drove their hot rod over, a deuce with a blown 426 hemi making 800+ HP,
He had the hot rod parked on the other side of the street from the restaurant. We were making small talk, told him about my car that's in progress, he used to have a few classic mustang etc etc. It was all good. And then I asked him what his car was like on gas, he said it took him half a tank to get to downtown from the ferry terminal lol.
And then he made a comment about how much higher the gas prices were here, and then said:
"It's 'Cause you all voted Liberal!", "You guys need to get your butt kicked and get some pipelines".
I was a bit taken aback, like I met this guy for like 10 minutes and he's going political, geez so brash. Somewhere in the conversation he even made some comments about Palestine and shit, and I was like "OK?".
The waitress came by shortly after, they were waiting for a spot at another part of the patio that had a better view of the cars, so they left.
Man, 68Style, if this is what you have to deal with on a daily basis, I feel for you man!
On the bright side, a couple of mint 1968 Shelby's showed up, a GT350 convertible and a GT500KR 428SCJ. (a couple hundred grand worth of classic mustangs on the same street). These made my day
Too new for the deuce days car show, but it brings all the other nice cars out:

The whole nu feminism / manosphere divergence is just more unnecessary tribal retardation our society doesn't need.
I was in a relationship with a girl and she left me to go back to her ex.
Then would post publicly on her social about how things aren't great with her ex.
Then also complain how much she hates being reminded about her past from other people.

Been down to seattle a few times, usually you see 1,2 maybe 3 cops sizzling on the highway or have someone pulled over.
Today on the way down we passed 8-9 people that were pulled over, in the span of 2hrs.

Being a white dude pretty much everywhere I've been in the last 15 years I've had that happen. It's always people with right wing views who are being loud about it.
The only exception was a Texan who was vocally anti-Trump, but that was back in March and he was up in Canada so not overly surprising he wanted to make that known lol.

In LA, some guy drove a car into the crowd injuring 30 people. Vigilante justice took over, driver was hauled out of his car, and some guy took out a gun and shot the perpetrator. That's the difference between Canada and USA ... judge jury executioner. Honestly, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons. Shooter was arrested and may be charged with 2nd degree murder.

One thing I noticed about the big car show today, is that in years prior where they blocked off the streets they would just put those simple sawhorse style barriers up. This year, they actually parked police vehicles the width of the street to block them. It guess that's a result of the lapu lapu thing.

I drove ONCE to the fireworks. It took an hour to 90 mins to get out of the downtown core. It was awful finding parking, it was awful getting out. Probably 2-2.5 hrs from fireworks to Steveston. This was 10 years ago too with significantly less traffic, would not recco.

Hoenstly, as long as you walk towards Granville / Pender, there are plenty of places where transit is easy to hop on and jump on the skytrain.
If you're adventurous, the business parking lots / side streets are readily available (closer to georgia) . Regardless of where you are, getting out is 25 mins (walk).

The thought of taking transit isn't appealing at all. Being stuffed into the skytrain seems very unenjoyable. I'm pretty soft these days. I don't like being uncomfortable.
My buddy told me to park across the Burrard bridge on 4th and just walk in. Someone said park at the Westin Bayshore and walk from there.
I'm expecting about a 25+ min walk. I might just park at the Westin, that seems reasonable.
i drove out to denman on saturday around 5. stupid i know, i didnt even realize there were fireworks.
actually the drive itself was just fine, even in dt other than a few closed streets the traffic was normal. the problem was finding parking even for 5 minutes to meet up with somebody. had to park illegally. if you ever do drive to the fireworks get ready to park at least a 20m walk away. its probably wise to park super far anyway so you can at least get out slightly easier when it's time to leave.

Honda's way is way easier to achieve now since they've changed a ton of the meters in this City to pay station style vs putting in physical coins which often are jammed making this method of getting 4 hours not possible. Another way but I can't confirm it still works anymore parking as per normal via the app for 2 hrs then adding your vehicle again to the app as a new plate but change it so that the plate has a space in the middle so ABC123 then add ABC 123. It'll think it's a completely different car and allow you to pay for 2 hrs. Again I do NOT know if this still works but definitely did before.

Tesla has the highest deaths/miles driven of any car brand, followed by Kia, so no.
Part of that I’m sure has to do with the demographic and other factors, but you don’t get that stat by being the safest car.
There’s also other measures of makes a car shit beyond safety, like cost, reliability, maintenance costs, build quality, looks, enjoyment, etc.

The Plaid is insanely fucking fast and none of the tuning needed like a 9 second ICE engine.
No worries about getting some bad gas and blowing a motor. I admit the Plaid has ICE engines beat there because I have never heard of a Tesla owner racing their car and having the battery or motors explode. The Plaid I rode in went into protection mode after multiple holy-fucking-shit acceleration bursts.

This man is right, biking down is easily the best.
I usually leave my place by Brentwood around 8:30, get down to English Bay by 9:30ish. Stand up on the road at Beach and watch them from there, leaving is pretty easy too since you're usually some of the first people out, end back home in about an hour as well.

Your google-fu needs improving. That entire statement by westopher is backed by a SINGLE study done by "iSeeCars", while that study points to using FARS by NHTSA.
First, iSeeCars is no one. They have ZERO reputation on doing car safety reports.
Second, if you actually cared to do a few more clicks and had done at least Stat 101, you'd see that iSeeCars' study cannot be replicated because there's nothing in NHTSA data that matches its "death by miles" criteria.
Westopher is nothing but a Tesla hating libtard who sees the click-bait title and cum because it fits his narrative.
Before you frame me as fan boy, please do your homework and get back to me. I spent 10min downloading the data from NHTSA (https://www.nhtsa.gov/file-downloads?p=nhtsa/downloads/FARS/)myself and did some basic stat work. If anything, Tesla is still the safest cars on road. iSeeCars manipulated datas specifically to make Tesla look bad.
And I really feel bad for libtards. They have so much hate that as long as they read something that fits their narrative and they would reach orgasm and spread all sort of hate. There is neither desire to seek the truth nor the incentive because they are afraid of finding out what they believe are not true.
Seriously... get down to the source, do your own work and then formulate your conclusion. Don't just right click, click on "search on Google" and think you have all the truth.

I always thought EV's were safer because they have crumple zones due to lack of engine.
Curious to know why Tesla's would have more fatalities than any other brand considering their crash test ratings are among the highest.
I really wish I had a tesla though. I drive mostly highway and having even their basic autopilot would make my commute so much easier. I've sat in one with just their basic autopilot and I thought it was fantastic.

Yeah honestly. Why are manufacturers obsessed with fixing what ain't broken. Who asked for electronically actuated doors? Literally nobody ever.
Summarizing Hehe here but "you don't know what's good for you, tesla does and that's why it's electronic"
It's just so many fake news and rumors that have people stating them as facts that bothers me.
I'm going to assume that you were referring to a Tesla that the door wouldn't open when it's on fire?
The car literally has the mechanical override latch(it bypass everything electronic and unlatches mechanically) right by the door. Rear ones is a bit further down depending on model, but Model S3XY and CT all have them right there for front passengers. So much so that for most people who have rode Teslas for the first time mostly use that latch to open the door until they are being told that they just need to press the button.
My dad basically continued using the emergency latch until he took my car for a few month when I went away for work. For the 3 years that I have told him he only needs to press the button... nop... first instinct is that latch because it's the closest thing to other cars' mechanism.
Some argues why fix something that's not broken, like... come on. Adding rear camera to cars was basically another thing that fix something that's not broken. But it's convenient. Press a button and out you go.
Again, back to what I was saying... people now have the tendency to find things that fit their narrative, regardless whether it makes real sense or not.
"Tesla has highest death per miles drive" - Yet somehow every single official crash test gave Teslas their highest score EVER.
"Tesla doors doesn't open when power shuts off" - So, it's a problem when Tesla uses it, and yet when Benz, BMW, Cadillac... etc use it and it's fine.
Just acknowledge your bias first, then post. So people know to take your statement with a grain of salt. But posting them as they were facts... going so far as "I googled and it's tRuE"...

In the case of the rear camera, it gets rid of a blind spot looking out the back. Prevents running over pets and little kids. I think that's a pretty big safety improvement.
But is pressing a button really better than pulling on a handle?
Calling out my bias that I had a Mustang Mach-E rental a couple weeks ago and you open the door by pressing on a glowing white circle on the door that lights up as you approach. You press, it pops the door open.
Except that I walked up, it glowed, I pressed, and nothing happened. I tried poking and prodding more times, nothing. I'm standing there staring at it, when suddenly the door pops open, all by itself. What the fuck.
Last month I dropped by a Polestar showroom to check out the $25k rebated Polestar 3. Same thing: pulled on the handle to open the door, nothing. I thought it was locked and started walking away, when suddenly the door just popped open behind me, all by itself.
Why!! Why is this better?!

I don't have a problem with electronic door handles if they're implemented properly or provide some benefit over mechanical handles, but glitchy software like RabidRat experienced undermines trust in the technology. When something as basic as opening a door becomes complicated by unreliable electronics or laggy responses, it feels less like progress and more like unnecessary complication.
That said, I believe electronic interior handles have the added benefit in preventing people from opening doors in dangerous situations (not opening when the car detects cyclists coming by, traffic etc.) and making doors marginally easier to open than a conventional handle, but it's not a big QoL improvement that warrants the added mechanical / electrical complexity IMO.

How about turning the gear shifter into a dial:
https://www.macheforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Ford-Mustang-Mach-E-gear-dial.jpg
Or sprinkling the shifter into the center console as a series of nondescript buttons. Let's locate them with the HVAC controls:

Agreed, but you know what'd be equally useful and 100% less complicated & annoying: if the car would just activate the existing Blind Soot Monitoring beeping and flashing if I reach for the handle when cyclists are detected.
In the same way that I'd rather have a rear camera so I can see the hazard and decide what to do about it myself, vs an option of hiding that from me and having the car just automatically slam on the brake whenever it THINKS objects are detected upon reversing.

Change for the sake of change because infinite growth is needed, consumers need to consume new product, so we must change basic functionality to incentivize a new model year.

Since we're talking about car buttons and switches...
Complicated technology derails owner satisfaction with new-model launches: Owners of carryover models express more emotional affinity for their vehicle than do owners of new-model launches (852 vs. 846, respectively) for a second consecutive year. Similarly, new models—which make up 14% of the industry this year—suffered from lower quality performance in this year’s J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study. Also, in this year’s APEAL Study, the largest satisfaction gaps for launch vehicles are in vehicle setup/startup (via the app) and infotainment—gaps that are especially pronounced in the premium segment, where carryover models score 48 points higher for setup/startup and 26 points higher for infotainment.
