This was a debate we were having amongst friends, because at the insurance places they never really link those specific stickers to your new updated insurance policy, so it is just a sequence of stickers in their drawers that contain your new info as they are used up, or do they only contain the expiry date

Rodney King found dead
Rodney King found dead at California home
King became the face of the infamous Los Angeles riots in 1992
LOS ANGELES (NEWS1130) - Rodney King, the man who became the face of the infamous Los Angeles riots in 1992, has been found dead at the age of 47.
Reports indicate King was found lifeless at the bottom of a pool by his fiancee.
California police confirmed to local media that King was indeed found dead, adding that there appeared to be no signs of foul play.
King made international headlines in the early 1990s when a bystander managed to videotape him being brutally beaten by a group of LAPD officers. The beating, which took place after a high-speed car chase between police and King, forever shook Los Angeles and opened the dialogue on race relations in America.
At the time, a 25-year-old King was out on parole for a previous conviction. He had been drinking that night and, fearing a return to prison, fled when he saw a police car tailing him.
After stopping in what King said he ensured was a public place, at least four officers beat King nearly to death with batons and used a stun gun. The beating was caught on tape and later made international headlines.
Four LAPD officers were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and excessive use of force, but three would eventually be acquitted with the the jury reaching a deadlock on the fourth. That decision would spark what became known as the 1992 Los Angeles riots.
For days, rioters tore through the streets of LA leaving wreckage and damage in their wake. By the time the riots were finished, more than 50 people had been killed and nearly $1 billion in damage had been done.
The riots would eventually be quelled by police, national guard and a statement by King pleading for everyone to get along.

AD got out of the car, and hoped he could get the team to see if anything was fixable...until they took him to a hospital and found out he had two broken back vertebrae.
Davidson remains in hospital | Planet F1 | Formula One | News, Standings, Results, Features, Video (http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7822310/Davidson-remains-in-hospital)
Sky Sport's commenter Anthony Davidson remains in hospital after breaking his back in a high-speed accident at the Le Mans 24 hours.
Taking part in the legendary endurance race in a Toyota TS030 Hybrid, Davidson's car flipped at the entry to Mulsanne Corner when the Ferrari he was lapping turned in on him. The impact sent Davidson careering into the barriers at high speed.
The 33-year-old was taken to the circuit's medical centre and then transferred to the hospital where scans revealed he had broken two vertebrae in the impact.
"I have felt better, that's for sure," Davidson, who will remain in hospital until Wednesday, said in an interview with Toyota Motorsport.
"I am in a bit of pain, in my lumber area, the middle area of my back. That's the only thing that hurts really so I've been lucky.
"Basically I have two broken vertebrae; T11 and T12. The doctors say the average recovery time is three months, but that's an average person not a professional sportsman or athlete.
"That estimate is to get back to an absolutely healed bone; as strong as it was before. It's more like three weeks until the pain subsides and I get my mobility back fully."
Describing the accident, the former F1 driver said: "I was almost completely past the car after the apex of the kink. I passed a Corvette and a Ferrari with the pro driver sticker on. They were fighting each other and I just assumed the Ferrari ahead was part of their group and therefore another pro.
"The car was all the way to the left as you would expect a pro driver to do. It was only when I got right up to the back that I realised it was one of the amateur-stickered cars.
"But I still wasn't alarmed, I still felt it was a completely legitimate move and thought he would stay to the left, which it looked like he was doing. I made the apex of the corner, started to brake and I was almost out of the corner when I felt contact on the left rear.
"Instantly it spun the car, pivoted round to the left, then took off and turned upside down. At that point I felt I was in an aeroplane out of control. I knew how close the barriers were, and travelling at that speed I was going to be there in no time. That part of the crash was pretty petrifying.
"It crashed back down to the ground, I felt an almighty punch up my spine when the car hit back down on four wheels. I still had my eyes closed and my hands off the wheels, in the brace position. Half a second after that I had the forward impact into the barrier."
He added: "I reopened my eyes and realised I was still here, albeit in a bit of pain. I had feeling and could move my feet; everything was working. I know I should stay in the car, especially with back pain, but initially I felt full of panic and claustrophobia, I just had to get out of the car. It was really odd. I banged the door open and clambered out carefully because I knew I was in pain. I had to stretch out and the closest point was the side of the car, then the medics came over."
Crazy!!

She was a pretty good actor, I must say.
Similar case near the richmond oval, some scary looking man was asking my friends for money coz he had diabetes. He was saying that he was going to die if he doesnt get money asap for medications.

Quick question... do shops have any legitimate reason to go for a 'spirited test drive' after they install an exhaust on your car? I can't really think of any reason for them needing to redline the car... Got a catback installed on my Z today and I had left the shop to do other things while they were working on it. I come back and see the guys revving my car in the parking lot taking videos with their cell phones... one of them says they took it out for a spin while I was making conversation with them, and when I asked why and if they drove it hard they said "No, just to test for leaks and rattles". Had a DVR in my car and when I went back home to check, the guys revved it a while and had floored it down the road. They put that S-mode crap on so when they downshifted into 2nd to slow down for a turn it rev matched and sounded like it was close to redline again -_-

Quick question... do shops have any legitimate reason to go for a 'spirited test drive' after they install an exhaust on your car? Texas father won't face charges in alleged attacker's death | Fox News (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/06/19/texas-beating-death-girl-alleged-molester-is-ruled-homicide/?cmpid=cmty_fb_Texas_father_wont_face_charges_in_a lleged_attackers_death)
Authorities say a Texas father who beat to death a man who tried molesting his 5-year-old daughter will not be charged.
Officials said the grand jury met Tuesday and declined to return an indictment against the father in the death of 47-year-old Jesus Mora Flores.
The attack happened on the family's ranch between the farming towns of Shiner and Yoakum. Investigators said the 23-year-old father ran toward his daughter's screams, pulled Flores off his child and beat him with his hands.
Authorities say forensic evidence and witness accounts corroborated the father's story that his daughter was being sexually molested.
Earlier, the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the death would be treated as a homicide investigation, and the case was sent to the grand jury.
Sheriff Micah Harmon, according to the statement, believes the girl’s father is remorseful, and did not intend to kill Flores. He called the case "traumatizing" for the girl and her entire family.
"He was just protecting his daughter and doing what he thought he had to do to protect his daughter," Harmon said.
The victim was an "acquaintance" of the father who visited the ranch to help care for some horses, according to Harmon, adding he did not know how long the men may have known each other prior to the alleged incident.
A witness told law enforcement that Flores was seen forcibly carrying the girl to a secluded area, the statement said. When the girl’s dad found out, he began calling her name, and when he heard her screams, he moved in.
When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, Flores’ pants and underwear were down, and his genitals were exposed, the statement said. All the witnesses' statements corroborated the father’s story, the release said.
Flores had a green card and the sheriff’s office has been working with the Mexican Consulate to locate his family, The Gonzales Inquirer reported.

Abbotsford is still at $1.28 / litre, with some places down to $1.27.
As for border line ups, it was less than eight minutes from crossing to crossing, including the time to fill up with gas. I love Sumas crossing. It was around 12:45 pm, BTW.

Hey, guys, I'm looking for a good massage therapist in the Brentwood / North Burnaby area. I can look it up and shit, but I am looking for a good one. Somehow a male running his hands up and down my neck and back doesn't appeal to me. Anyone know a female therapist who's good at what she does? And I really don't care if she's Olga from the Russian Olympic Shot Put team. I'd rather have that than some dude with creepy hands, LOL. BTW, this will be the first time for me, so I am a virgin when it comes to massage therapy. Serious answers, please, although I can't expect RS to be serious at the best of times. I am covered for massages through work, but have never taken advantage of it. It has to be a certified massage therapist, of course. Dafaq, China never ceases to amaze me.
Buy A Surprisingly Good Fake Chinese Lamborghini For $66,000
If you're on the market for a fake Lamborghini, look no further than China. An enterprising company there is selling a Toyota-powered Murcielago lookalike for about $66,000, a mere fraction of what China's super wealthy normally pay for Lambos.
It goes from 0-100 kph in about nine seconds and tops out at about 200 kph, but from several meters away it looks pretty good. Step a little closer and the discriminating Lambo ogler might notice that a few things are amiss. Like a spoiler, for instance.
But if you're worried about detection, some of those little details can be taken care of for extra cost. Buy Lamborghini wheels for $7,800. Get a Lamborghini key for $1,400. Ditch the stock Toyota 2.2 liter 3S engine for something with more grunt; say, a V6 or V8 (Can you imagine seeing/hearing a Lamborghini-looking car emitting an American small block burble?).
It's not clear which car the company used to make the replica, but there are people who seem to have a good head for these things in China. Hell, they're cheaper, and how many people are really going to know the difference? This Chinese copy will likely have a market in the land of the dragon, where a base Gallardo can cost more than $500,000 and an Aventador goes for almost a million.
From a country whose engineers have mimicked everything from rifles to fighter jets, we're anxious to see what the next knockoff will be. More Rolls Royce limousines? A new Eiffel Tower, perhaps? (Hat tip to Baber K. Khan!)

Cheers! RCMP proposes licensed mess hall at new headquarters in Surrey
John Daly, Global News : Friday, June 22, 2012 9:46 PM
An application for a liquor licence that's currently under review in Surrey is raising a few eyebrows.
The licenced establishment would be located at the new $260 million RCMP BC headquarters currently under construction in the Green Timbers area.
The mess hall would be open seven days a week and be available to nearly 3,000 employees in a new 76,000 square metre facility.
Surrey city council is considering the RCMP liquor licence which it says is necessary for social functions, formal and informal ceremonies and force traditions.
However, there is a pub less than a mile away and the RCMP liquor application comes as the Cpl. Monty Robinson controversy struggles to a resolution.
It also comes after the West Vancouver Police Department, faced with an officer drinking at the police station, then driving and crashing, brought about a booze ban at police headquarters.
The RCMP says it's liquor service is "event or activity driven" and "strict guidelines developed by the force are closely adhered to."
The application calls for indoor licenced capacity of 1,198 Mounties, with a patio capacity of another 120 outside. However, the RCMP says there would only be seating for about 500 people inside.
The hours of operation would be noon to 2 a.m., according to the application. RCMP say that’s incorrect, and the mess would only be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until 11 p.m.
RCMP say anyone at the mess who has had too much to drink would get a free cab ride home.

Woman's means they are over 18. Female applies to all age groups.
^should be called girls hockey.
Anyway, someone screwed it up somewhere and now there are leagues called female hockey leagues..... still the majority are called womens hockey and girls hockey. Just like mens hockey and boys hockey leagues. I bet there's a male hockey league out there somewhere..... par for the course. The Engrish language ain't the same no more, LOL.

Staff at the Galapagos National Park in Ecuador say Lonesome George, a giant tortoise believed to be the last of its subspecies, has died.
Scientists estimate he was about 100 years old.
Park officials said they would carry out a post-mortem to determine the cause of his death.
With no offspring and no known individuals from his subspecies left, Lonesome George became known as the rarest creature in the world.
For decades, environmentalists unsuccessfully tried to get the Pinta Island tortoise to reproduce with females from a similar subspecies on the Galapagos Islands.
Park officials said the tortoise was found dead in his corral by his keeper of 40 years, Fausto Llerena.
While his exact age was not known, Lonesome George was estimated to be about 100, which made him a young adult as the subspecies can live up to an age of 200.
Galapagos icon
Lonesome George was first seen by a Hungarian scientist on the Galapagos island of Pinta in 1972.
Environmentalists had believed his subspecies (Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni) had become extinct.
Lonesome George became part of the Galapagos National Park breeding programme.
After 15 years of living with a female tortoise from the nearby Wolf volcano, Lonesome George did mate, but the eggs were infertile.
He also shared his corral with female tortoises from Espanola island, which are genetically closer to him than those from Wolf volcano, but Lonesome George failed to mate with them.
He became a symbol of the Galapagos Islands, which attract some 180,000 visitors a year.
Hunted to extinction
Galapagos National Park officials said that with George's death, the Pinta tortoise subspecies has become extinct.
They said his body would probably be embalmed to conserve him for future generations.
Tortoises were plentiful on the Galapagos islands until the late 19th century, but were later hunted for their meat by sailors and fishermen to the point of extinction.
Their habitat furthermore suffered when goats were introduced from the mainland.
The differences in appearance between tortoises from different Galapagos islands were among the features which helped the British naturalist Charles Darwin formulate his theory of evolution.
Some 20,000 giant tortoises of other subspecies still live on the Galapagos.

‘She didn't apologize. She started laughing. I was on my hands and knees picking up bone fragments.
'I couldn't pick up all, everything that was lost. I mean, there was a long line behind me.’
Gross later found out that TSA rules state that staff should not tamper with human remain containers under any circumstance.
Instead they are supposed to put them through an X-ray machine.
Nothing can be done to regain the ashes. But Gross said he wants an apology from the TSA and from the individual agent 'who opened the jar and laughed at me'.

Clicking and sharing online could soon get you in trouble
International agreement includes intellectual property rights chapter
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - You and your favourite websites could be targeted by a new international trade agreement Canada may sign, which could make criminals out of regular people.
Part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (http://www.ustr.gov/tpp/) agreement includes an Intellectual Property Rights chapter.
"Internet service providers could be forced to collect and hand over your personal information to media companies without privacy safeguards. These big media companies then will have the power to possibly fine you for your Internet use," explains Lindsay Pinto with OpenMedia.
Pinto is concerned by the potential implications. "A lot of your favourite website could be targeted, websites that allow for the sharing of content that Big Media decides that they own."
"We're talking about terminating entire websites, potentially, and even terminating access to the Internet for people who have been accused of copyright violations," she adds.
Pinto tells us the partnership it broadens the scope of what copyright infringement is, changing the way we use the Internet.
The next round of discussions on this agreement starts Monday.

I don't drive by there often or else i'd check it out myself.

Right, the one near Nanaimo that's been having a sale for a long ass time.
It's like those furniture places that have a five year old sign up that reads, "Closing Forever."
I think it's their clearance centre, like the one they had at their Hastings Street location. I think I'll go by there just because I have nothing better to do.

Its not a VISA card, but it treats like a visa card (VISA Card's #s) So let say if you want to buy a movie ticket online, you select VISA as your payment, then you can enter the # of your VISA access card.
It doesn't use your credit when you purchase something, it links to your chequing account then deduct from there

I think it's because thats what the Americans have because they don't have a debit system. If you do a lot of shopping in the US it's going to be great so you don't have to worry about using your credit cards if you don't want to.

Thanks to all the rain etc water at our beaches and lakes are extremely clean even Trout Lake! (Last time I remember people swimming in there was when I was a kid)
Water along local beaches cleaner than ever
You could even swim in Trout Lake
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A cool, rainy spring and summer has had at least one positive effect. The water along Metro Vancouver beaches has never been cleaner! Surprisingly, you can even swim in Trout Lake.
According to Vancouver Coastal Health, at this time last year, the fecal coliform count at the East Vancouver lake was over 300 (warnings go up at 200).
This year, Senior Environment Health Officer Shelley Beaudet with VCH says "[the] average is 123. Last week, it was 95. So it's quite swimmable!"
And even with those commendable numbers, it's still one of the worst places. So, why are we seeing such clean water?
"We've completed a lot more sewer separation," explains Peter Judd, City of Vancouver engineer. "So you're getting less sewer overflow going in and more pure water."
"The weather is cooler, so there is less boating activity and we believe that contrary to regulations, sewage does get dumped in from pleasure boats," he adds.
Judd expects things to get worse as the summer goes on. But right now, the water is as clean as they've ever seen.
"It's always a good time to take to the water in Vancouver. People need to be aware that east of the Cambie bridge, the water quality is not as good as elsewhere but overall, it's pretty darn good and you can see that from the marine life that's coming back into False Creek as well," he says.
You'll be able to tell if the water becomes dangerously contaminated.
"When there is an issue, we will definitely notify the Vancouver Park Board and the beaches will be posted [with a notice]. But, other than Trout Lake, there have been very few postings in the time that I've been in this position," adds Beaudet.
The cleanest of the clean are WhyteCliff Park in West Vancouver, Cates Park in North Vancouver, and Locarno Beach along English Bay. Not far behind are Second, Third, and Wreck Beaches.
Click here (http://www.vch.ca/your_environment/water_quality/recreational-water/beach-water-quality-report/beach_water_quality_report) to check out the latest water quality rankings.

No Frills in the morning when they open up. Superstore is a good place, but you have to be there at the right time, as they crush the boxes on a regular basis.
Cold beer and wine places and goverment liquor stores. I've had good luck at the private liquor stores, as well.
saw this pop up in a news site thought it was interesting.
not sure if this old news or not

How does the lettuce and all the other stuff in btwn the buns fit? :suspicious:
^ you have the lid upside down and then fill it. Put the base on and turn it right side up and voila!
Trouble is, I buy DVD's in 100 packs. The cake boxes are way too deep.
Hamburger patty stacker? LOL Burgers with holes in the middle, FTW! Even cooking throughout
That only works for 25pcs boxes... for 100packs... I use them to put paper towel rolls in places like garage, laundry room... etc

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - More trouble for the RCMP; a Richmond Mountie has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
The officer was investigated by Surrey RCMP following an arrest he made on January 26th of this year. Other officers at the scene brought some concerns to the attention of a supervisor and an internal investigation was launched.
In a written statement, the Mounties say the person who was arrested in the incident had to be treated in hospital, but the case is now before the courts and they are offering no further comment on the situation.
Constable Inderpal Bal remains on active duty, but under close supervision.

Yes, if you're referring to Yuffa's post, I can't believe I missed it, too. Must be because it was the last posting on the page.

Bella Gelateria won top prize in the Florence Italy contest 200,000 people voted and he won
International recognition for local Gelato maker
James Coleridge of Bella Gelateria wins two awards at the Gelato Festival in Florence, Italy
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - An international award goes to a local Gelato maker.
James Coleridge of Bella Gelateria in Vancouver has picked up both the people's choice and the technical award at the Gelato Festival in Florence.
Coleridge says his tasty creation has a very Canadian feel the Italian judges took to.
"The gold medal winning flavour that we took and made in Florence, Italy was a toasted pecan with sea salt. We also took caramelized pecans to put in there and then topped it off with Canadian maple syrup."
Coleridge adds the Italian masters were a little taken aback that a Canadian took the prize.
"Vancouver is a culinary hot bed in the globe and they've actually encouraged me to make these really multi-dimensional, layering flavours," he notes. "I think they were a little surprised but I think they should be proud too because they did teach me in Italy."
Coleridge's creation was voted on by more than 200,000 visitors at the festival.

Do any of you guys know if we can buy any 3rd party iphone cables that plug into your car (the ones that split into 3.5mm and usb) intended for iPod control via your car stereo. Or if anyone has the pin-outs for the 30pin iPhone adaptor to usb and 3.5mm, that'll be fine too.
I tried googling but no luck. the $30-40$ price tag for the wire is quite steep!

Just remembered that I do have other uses for the larger cake boxes. Being a diabetic, I check my blood sugar levels on a daily basis. I use the larger CD cake boxes as a sharps container. I cut off most of the stem part which leaves a hole at the base. I put the cover back on and invert. Makes a perfect sharps holder for used lancets.
