Have you booked it yet? I just found out you have to apply and use the credit card in order for it to work. My sis tried to book a room DT and that's what happened to her

Yeah.. I booked it. You have to register for MasterPass, and pay through that method. You can use any credit card, though. I used my Visa. Decided to 'splurge' and go with 2 queens instead of a king. Ended up paying 36.25 CAD.

Where can I throw this away? I live in a condo and I don't think I'm allowed to just leave it in the garbage room.

I also want to throw out some overused pots and pans, plastic tupperware, and some glass plates.

Also, where can i go to shred a small boxes worth of paper?

Thanks.

LAKE ERROCK (NEWS 1130) (http://www.news1130.com/2015/09/25/worst-commute-winner-four-hours-good-day/)– This week’s winner of our Vancouver’s Worst Commute contest has a doozy of a drive – from Lake Errock east of Mission to Richmond and back every day!

Steve Araujo’s girlfriend nominated him, and it’s no wonder!

“It’s about two hours on a good day to three hours on a bad day — and the bridge was out last week in Dewdney! So I had to go around through Agassiz, into Chilliwack, back into Abbotsford, into Mission to get all the way back onto Highway 1 to come into Richmond. It was taking me over three hours.”

Even with that, there’s no way Steve would move closer to Richmond and his job of 20 years.

“The prices in Vancouver for a house are driving people out to the Valley. To be able to afford a house with property, you basically have to live [in the] Chillwack, Mission area — Lake Errock where I live. I love it out there. It’s great; the lake’s right there, it’s peaceful, it’s beautiful. I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but the commute in Vancouver is getting worse and worse as the years go on, and with the bridge being out last week, it was crazy.”

I would think you'd have to be a masochist for spending 4-6 hours a day in traffic. Over the course of a year, you would have spent more than a month in your car, just from commuting. That's a lot of time taken away from relaxing next to the lake. I wonder how much it costs him in gas and maintenance, and if it's worth trying to find a lower-paying job closer to home.

The cost of driving his car an average of 25 hours/week for work is likely costing him more than the mortgage difference.

Gucci Mane
09-25-2015, 12:55 PM
still an idiot either way. buy a house out in the valley and rent it out, rent a townhouse or whatever close to work. the house in the valley will build your equity so you can buy a house in richmond eventually.

or, if the only way you can afford to buy is to live way out there and commute everyday, then fuck it. rent close to work and enjoy the rest of your money. just need a fucking roof over your head at the end of the day, who cares if you own it or not.

I'd say just get it in Canada. Because when you factor the 4.5% tax, and the possible tax on top of tax when bringing back to Canada, any saving would be wiped out instantly.

Better yet, buy an iPhone 6/6+ from people who are upgrading and still under warranty. Then get Applecare. So you should save some money.

should you? if you like indie and/or japanese niche games or game on the run - yes
there's been a few decent ports. downside is they don't get updated like they do from main console.

what to look out for?
there's 2 versions. the older OLED and the newer slim model that's LCD. they're pretty cheap these days and if you're going used they can be found for $120-150 with some acceessories. I myself have the slim model w/ the BL2 bundle.

I'm told OLED is brighter but LCD has better battery life

vita memory is proprietary, therefore overpriced ~$2/mb
4mb memory card is useless. 8mb is BARE minimum 16mb probably ideal and 32/64 if you d/l games from PSN

if you're looking for a used one make sure it's 8mb memory minimum. more the better.

So my question now - does the Apple Store here still give out nano sim cards for free? :)

I googled mapped it trying to find an HOV sign or no right turn on Oak st. Then looked at 70th ave, I think the cars being pulled over were on 70th ave eastbound turning right onto the bridge on a red light. There's a no right turn on red light sign on that intersection.

If your alarm is using the tel line to dial a monitoring station, then I would suggest you don't trouble shoot it yourself and have them come out to correct.

jing
10-03-2015, 11:36 AM
From experience, the telco always blames the alarm company for their own shortcomings. If it was working fine before the telco technician came to do whatever and it stopped working after, doesn't take a genius to figure out who most likely messed it up. On the rare occasion, the dialer relay on the alarm board may be sticky, and won't release the line. Anotjer potential fault is the 8 pin jack that the telephone lines goes into before feeding into your alarm panel that can go bad as well. The most likely fault has to do with a bad wiring job by whoever touched the lines last

One line shorted so all of them stopped working, except the direct one to the alarm panel. Identified which was shorted and disconnected that one, luckily it was for one we never use, so I didn't need to replace that wire.

Other devices on the same network can get through, I've tried 2 browsers, refreshed the IP, cleared the cache and dns, checked the host file, tried pinging it, checked the registry, and did a system restore to a date when the site was working, and still no dice. Anyone have any other ideas?

Trimming beard............ I have to do that one day. My beard is long and and wire-y as in thick and need a pair of side cutters to trim. Nose and ear hairs grow a few inches a day. Just when you think you've taken care of 'em, babam! They're more popping up.

Something you young guys can look forward to, hee hee. Enjoy your soft facial hairs while you can.

Does anyone have a Kidde brand smoke detector? It keeps randomly chirping, not consistently but whenever it feels like it. I've vacuumed the outside of the unit in case there was dust build up, but it continues. I can't seem to take it down from the ceiling, is there a pin or something I'm just not seeing? Any help would be greatly appreciated! It does this at all hours of the day.

Not sure about the chirping, but have you tried twisting the detector to get it off? Mine's attached via a bracket.

Inaii
10-13-2015, 10:52 AM
Yep. Tried twisting, pulling, pushing up and then twisting. It seems like mine is mounted directly into the ceiling? That's why I was asking if there's a pin or something I'm missing that you need to push/pull in order to get the damn thing out. Also, you're apparently supposed to cut the power to it since mine is hardwired, does that mean I have to flip the breaker for the whole suite? Wtf, why couldn't it have just been a battery one -_-

I have a Kidde brand smoke detector, installed in 2013. About 1-1.5 years in, it started randomly chirping so I just changed the battery, but not sure why yours is chirping!

Mine has a "tamper resistant pin" that you have to pull out before twisting the detector to remove it from the mounting bracket. Google search for a Kidde user manual and you should be able to find a diagram.

Found the pin, got it down.... and there's no external battery -_- so I have to hope that treating it like a nintendo cartridge was enough to stop the beeping. It's driving me nuts. Ive tried greyhound before they are cheap but unfortunately the package is over the limit!

The dimension was 85x35x20 60lbs
The Quote I got from UPS(560$+tax) Fedex(700$+tax)

And for trucking companies door to door varies from (400-700$ +tax)

I was very fortunate to find Canadian Freightways. They have a depot in toronto and burnaby! With the option of dropping and picking the package at the depot the price was slash drastically.
I paid 260$ tax in with 1500$ value insured.

SURREY (NEWS 1130) (http://www.news1130.com/2015/11/10/surrey-rcmp-car-jack/) – Surrey Mounties have arrested a man for apparently trying to car jack an RCMP ghost car in Newton last night.

It happened at around 6 p.m. in the area of 71st Avenue and 135th Street. Two officers inside the vehicle identified themselves as police when the suspect tried to drag one of them out of the car.

“This had the potential to be a frightening incident and we are thankful that our officers were in the right place at the right time to take this person into custody,” says Corporal Scotty Schumann. “The suspect got the ride he wanted, but probably not to the location he was hoping for.”

The 25-year-old from Penticton was already wanted on an outstanding warrant. He is now facing the possibility of robbery and breach of probation charges.

I've seen silver dodge caravans with those stick family stickers, rangers with N signs, mazda 6's, altimas, and even a volvo s40 lol - they are stealth as fuck.

Now everytime I see a slightly suspicious looking car I look for the glow of their computer screens

the other day in cloverdale i saw a cop with a base model f150 that had a canopy with ladders on the top. it honestly looked like a tradesman's truck, had no visible lights on it anywhere. it had those ghost lights behind the tinted windows in the rear and on the front visors. cops are so stealthy.

few years back i remember the delta pd having a base model white honda ridgeline. that one really got me because thats something you wouldnt even think of them having.

so i've been tasked with being the brain for this year's xmas office party

i got roughly 15 people in my department, pretty much all middle-aged people, a couple of lawyers and a couple of directors

someone suggested bowling at Italian cultural centre but i'd rather not
booking a room at a restaurant is also an option but i've got no idea of what's a good restaurant for this

any suggestion for places that would entertain 15 people along with food and maybe activities? preferably in Vancouver but Burnaby might work too.

15 people is quite a small party. My suggestion. Host the party at your office if its possible. This way you guys can go as late as you want. Order catering service and bring alchohol. Rent a karaoke machine, you will be surprise how much people loosen up after some drinks. Photobooth is also an excellent is also fun for the guest and makes for good bonding experience. I have done small office parties like this with success. Here comes the shameless plug, contact me if you need any help with equipment rental or vendors.:hotbaby:

You'll have to fill in your Traveller ID into your airline profile to be eligible for Pre-Check when you're flying in the US. It's is a way shorter security line - especially at the larger US airports. Also when flying domestic, YVR has a express security line for NEXUS holders too.

Go on-line and check out when she's there. If she's in first thing in the morning, line up at 7:30. As in, you line up while she waits in nice warm car. She'll be first one in. Believe me you, if you get there after 8:00 am opening, she'll be waiting for up to two hours or more. They do give you a number and approximate wait time. You can shop and come back later.

Just wanna ask a question about tvs without posting a new thread lol...so here goes.

Does anyone else agree that 1080p television with native 1080p content and feeds, is good enough? I see this new 4K UHD and there is so much details, is like I don't even think I can see that much fine details with my own eyes! I mean if your watching something from your own eyes and live, I can't see every fine hair or leaves of the grass like I do watching it in ultra hd...dunno if you know what I'm trying to say, its almost like 4K UHD is more then the eyes can see unless you record it and watch it on again on a TV or computer! 1080p content looks pretty stunning already, 4K more impressive, then now they talking 8K or something, when will it end? How much higher def do we need to go?

BTW, what DEF is watching movies in the theater?

underscore
12-16-2015, 05:43 PM
The thing with 4K and even 1080p is that even if you have a matching quality source you still need to be watching it from the optimal viewing distance to really get the most from it. For 1080p that's about 2x the diagonal of the TV (so for a 50" TV, 100" away) but for 4K it's closer to 1.5x. Since most people sit a lot further than that away from their TV it's really a waste of money IMO.

Hondaracer
12-16-2015, 05:51 PM
Anyone who argues 4k isn't a noticeable improvement has not seen a proper setup.

IMO it is an amazing step in TV technology. While it's only Netflix and a few apps that currently stream native 4k content, there are still thousands of hours of content.

Not to mention good sets with good processors do a great job at upscaling

Purchased the 55XBR850B last winter, every single
Person who has seen it at my place has remarked how good it looks.

There is a lot of contradicting opinions online, however almost every single person with a 4k set will promote it and the people pushing against it do not have one. Really hard to make the decision on your own until you've seen a set properly setup and calibrated outside of bestbuy etc.

Also keep in mind, you need minimum 18mb/s connection to stream native 4k. If your connection is slower than that or being bogged down by downloads etc. the netflix app will not even display 4k options

underscore
12-16-2015, 08:41 PM
^ serious question, how much of the noticeable improvement comes from the 4k and how much of it comes from other improvements in video quality that you would see if the same hardware was 1080p?

More importantly actually, how does rather poor quality stuff look? Some of the old stuff I have isn't even 480p, but if it won't look any worse than it does now on a 1080 screen then I might go 4k for my next set.

Hondaracer
12-16-2015, 08:47 PM
The XBR is obviously sony's top line. However, my parents ended up replacing a 8 year old Panasonic with a $900 vizio 4k set. While the overall picture is not as good I feel like the detail is definately noticeable, even from their relatively good 1080p 3D projector.

720 and lower I can't really speak to much anymore as we no longer have cable. I remember some stuff looking just terrible where as some older movies etc looked alright

Think with 480 is you're making up a hell of a lot of lines of resolution in order to display the picture.

You may know it ready, but a 4k set is -always- displaying 4k resolution, regardless of the input feed. So depending on the TV's processor, that is a lot of blending and creation of pixels which do not even exist with the content

old, but good.. (and timely!)

Before you read this: Please don't judge me... I'm just sharing my story because people asked...
Wow... okay, I wasn't sure if I was ever going to tell anyone about this, but it's late and I'm sleep deprived so i guess I'll just write it now and regret it in the morning :/
First of all, - just for some background: My mom died right when I was born, (she was actually really, really hot- but this isn't about her. I guess that's fucked up to say, but whatever.) I actually grew up with my dad's family, because my dad has all sorts of emotional issues and he bailed before I was born. So you can see, my childhood was really kind of messed up.
Anyways, growing up I feel like there was always a lot of distance between me and my sister. When I was about 17 or 18 I first noticed that my sister was a hottie.
I don't want to go into too many details about it, but basically what happened is that I accidentally found a video that she made of herself. I knew she didn't make it for me- but I thought she was so fucking beautiful that I watched it twice. I probably would have watched it a hell of a lot more, except that like right around the time I found the video, all this crazy shit went down and I had to leave home. (My dad's family who I was staying with got in bad trouble with the law. I never talk about it).
Sooo... I was totally lusting after my sister at that point. She was also having bad trouble with the law. She was actually in custody when I left home.
My friend and I went to go pick her up. When I saw her that day, after seeing the video, I have to be honest, I just wanted to fuck her brains out. Looking back on it now, it's pretty messed up- but I think she had feelings for me too. She actually kissed me right after we came to get her... and it wasn't a sisterly kiss, you know? I mean, it wasn't like ridiculously sexual or anything, but it definitely wasn't sisterly.
After we left, we all went to crash with my Sister's friends. On the trip there, my friend sort of implied that he wanted to get with my Sister, and I got a little jealous. He's a good looking guy- and even though she was my sister- I just felt like he was competition. Not much else happened between us for a while except some maybe-sexy hugging.
Pretty much everyone in my life at that point was wanted by the government, so we all moved around a lot. I'm not saying that I'm proud of it or anything, but it was kind of an awesome time.
My friend and my sister never hooked up I don't think- but I thought there was some serious sexual tension going on between them. It was around that time that I got really badly hurt in an accident. It was fucked up. I almost died. But when I was in recovery my sister came to see me, and out of the clear blue sky she started gives me this awesome, slow, passionate kiss on the lips.
Sadly (although, I guess for the best) nothing ever came of it. We spent some time apart... and I started to get really religious, so I tried not to think of her that way. It was actually going well for a long time- like I was totally over her. But I have to say, like a year or so after all that stuff went down, we were out sailing (not like a date or anything romantic like that), and she was wearing like the hottest bikini I've ever fucking seen and it brought back all the old feelings. Sigh.
A little while later she actually wound up with my friend from before (the sexual tension guy). I can't say I was surprised.
But even after she was shacking up with my friend, there was one time we were at a party... my friend was inside, and my sister and I were outside alone. It was a really intimate moment. I think something might have happened, except that I killed the mood when I told her that Darth Vader was our father and that I had to go face him.
