Brett Wilson fights against Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day

Calgary financier Brett Wilson is calling on businesses to hold off putting up Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day on Nov.11.

He says early Christmas displays and sales show a lack of respect for war veterans.

"I was upset because they were putting it up," said William Cox, the president of the North Calgary Legion.

"I'm not going to be able to change that.... so we have to live with it and stay strong."

Wilson says the 10 days between Halloween and Remembrance Day should be free of Christmas sales and decorations.

Wilson is using social media to make his point, and some stores have replied to his online campaign.

Fluevog Shoes in Calgary has said it will not put up Christmas decorations until after Nov. 11.

"I think that it shows a lot of respect as a Canadian company for an important Canadian holiday like Remembrance Day to hold off the extra day," said store manager Tanya McIntosh.

So, heading north on Commerical Drive this afternoon, I see this father on a bike with one of those things that hold small children in tow. Dude is like booking it. I wait till left lane is clear and pass him. I'm about a block away when a pedestrian is about to cross the road. I slow down and come to a stop. This idiot doesn't see the pedestrian and slams on the brakes. He can't stop. His bike is like wobbling. I'm seeing this from my rear view mirror. Pedestrian runs out of the way. “We firmly believe that Hyundai has already surpassed the tipping point in fuel cell technology development and that it’s ready to be driven by customers interested in pioneering a zero-emissions automotive future,” said Don Romano, president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp, in a press release. “The challenge facing this technology has always been characterized by a chicken-and-egg scenario, where car companies won’t bring fuel cell vehicles to market without an infrastructure and there is no need for a refueling industry without customers. It’s time to move beyond simply talking about the opportunity. Hyundai was the first to mass-produce fuel cell electric vehicles and will be the first to bring them to Canadian customers. We’re planting the seed for a new segment of the industry.”

The Tuscon FCEV stores hydrogen gas and draws an inflow of air to the fuel cell stack. The electrochemical process of combining the oxygen and hydrogen creates electricity to power the vehicle and charge an onboard battery. Hyundai said the only by-product of the process is pure water vapour.

The fuel cell will have to be charged by Hyundai, but it takes less than five minutes to refuel and has an estimated range of 426 kilometres. Hyundai said the Tuscon FCEV has also passed numerous cold weather, crash, fire and leak tests.

A group of people will have the opportunity to lease the vehicle at $599 a month over a three-year term. The lease includes maintenance and unlimited hydrogen refueling. Applications can be made through Hyundai’s website.

“We are proud to be leading the fuel cell movement and now is the time for auto companies, governments, and citizens to join us in this initiative and push for the creation of a hydrogen infrastructure in Canada to maintain this positive momentum,” added Romano.

The Hyundai Tucson FCEV is currently available to customers in many countries including the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and South Korea.

Home Depot should have some. I know US HD carries them.

Nevertheless, they are quite $$$. About U$10 each and it would probably last you less than a month. It's more economical to just turn on A/C.

But if your car doesn't have it, the only thing I'd suggest is a good no-lint towel or just good old paper towel.

Try dollar stores. They have these container type things that do the same thing. They look like a smaller tupperware container, and best of all, they're cheap. The ones I found were $2

I had to go to a couple different dollarstores to find them. So far it seems to be helping in my Civic. Tough to complain for $2 lol

Just a heads up about those moisture absorbers such as the Dri-Z-Air kits and the smaller ones you get from the dollar store. It's just calcium chloride. You can get a 20kg bag of the stuff from most hardware stores for $20-$25 vs $10 for 370g in pretty packaging. Plus, it works as an excellent ice melter.

When I put my cars in storage, I just get some small colanders from the dollar store, fill them with the pellets and place them in a plastic tub/drain pan to collect the liquid.

If you already have the DZA pot or dollarstore container, just dump the used stuff out, dry and refill. The small ones work great in door pockets cause they don't tip over.

Just a heads up about those moisture absorbers such as the Dri-Z-Air kits and the smaller ones you get from the dollar store. It's just calcium chloride. You can get a 20kg bag of the stuff from most hardware stores for $20-$25 vs $10 for 370g in pretty packaging. Plus, it works as an excellent ice melter.

When I put my cars in storage, I just get some small colanders from the dollar store, fill them with the pellets and place them in a plastic tub/drain pan to collect the liquid.

If you already have the DZA pot or dollarstore container, just dump the used stuff out, dry and refill. The small ones work great in door pockets cause they don't tip over.

You want to put it in a container that has holes in it, like a colander, so the air (moisture) can get to it, then a drain pan under to collect the liquid. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate.

There's been a man standing outside my work since 1:30pm today. (it's now almost 5:00pm)
He has a bag full of stuff in one hand and he's been staring at the exact same spot for over 3 hours now. At around 2:45 he wet himself. People walk past him, bump shoulders and he doesn't even flinch. A few managers went out to talk to him to see if he's okay and one of them brought him a coffee and something to eat, he just kept staring at the ground. A co worker called the non emergency line and after about 40 minutes a cop showed up, talked to the guy for 20 minutes then left.. about 10 minutes later a group of people from a mentally challenged institute showed up, talked to him for 15 minutes and they all left him standing there staring at the ground... its dark now and probably really cold.

I didn't want to stir up any controversy or cause any disturbance to my neighbors with a shouting match because of what she said. I didn't like it of course but I'm sure I wasn't the first one she's said it to.

I was given a giant WLtoys skydancer v912 from the gf's mom for xmas.

She bought an add on HD video camera that hooks up to it so i plugged it in and started to fly it around.

if i look at the remote i can see it has a camera and video camera icon on the screen but i cant figure out how to turn it on. at best I've read that if its steady green, its recording. So, it starts off green but cant figure out how to switch between photo to video. From what I've found online there's 2 multifunction buttons on the remote, and pushing them makes it go from green to red but the icon on the remote doesn't light up indicating whats being done.

if anyone has this or the previous versions, could you please help me out?

FWIW, fedex refunded me my brokerage fee. They said they would only do it once though and told me to set-up an account with them. They told me to include my account number on anything that is being shipped to Canada and if there are duties they would charge it to this account and I would save on the brokerage fee. I set-up the account but have never had to use it.

I was asking about the towed vehicle on the dolly. Underscore got it though, since 2 wheels are on the ground it has to be insured.

Here's the stupid thing though, the tow dolly, itself, has to be insured by the renter, through ICBC - uhaul doesn't have it plated.

So if someone is considering renting a dolly instead of a regular car trailer, don't. The difference in rental cost is only around $11 but the car trailer comes insured already and you don't need insurance on the vehicle being towed on it.
