Suggestions on how to replace this flat roof?

Looked at some DIY videos where people would remove the existing material, clean the surface, lay on primer, put down the sheets of roofing, and then lay on a sealant layer.

if i was trying to DIY myself i'd probably look at some roll on weatherproof deck sealant if i was lazy, or maybe deck membrane or similar material to what is existing, like a roll on asphalt and if it's sloped try to do positive lap.

my old house had a HUGE carport deck and we redid the decking membrane. hired someone to do it b/c i have office hands :lol. It kept quite well, the guy did a good job sealing the sheets he rolled on.

Yep, that's the best you'll get short of going for an OLED television.

Sony televisions have the best picture processing on the market and I love that they use Android for their OS since it's so smooth and easy to use compared to the alternatives.

I just have a sour taste in my mouth with Sony from buying the X900H last year. They advertised it as 4K 120Hz compatible, but there's blurriness at 120Hz across all resolutions. Still not fixed as it's a hardware limitation according to other folks.

Sandblast the thing. The right medium (abrasive) and decent pressure and you’re good as gold. It’s always good to have friends with a sandblaster cabinet. If you plan on doing some paint removal but don’t want to invest too much into a sandblaster, you can get one of those Princess Auto cheapies. You need a compressor, though.

Get a larger cabinet model like a Modu-Blast and you can clean up BBQ parts, engine blocks, carbs, you name it. Best place to get advice is Manus Abrasives. Yeah, not the kind of thing you want to get into, but you’d be very popular. People be like coming over all the time. And no, I haven’t got one. Lol. Just access to one.

Oh yeah, lots of DIY sandblaster videos on YouTube. You don’t need a cabinet sandblaster to do what you’re doing.

A lot of people don't read the ad fully or even at all before they message. The ad shows the location proximity of a map. Never disclose your actual address if you live in a house. Apartment is okay. Generally just give them the street intersection or nearby business to meet at in public.

Although over time you will notice a lot of time wasters on FB Marketplace. I have had my fair share. E.g. Yesterday had a guy message me for my new car wash equipment, asks me if it's available and if I had multiples. I reply and he goes, "it's okay". Like WTF is that supposed to mean? You contacted me and I replied 10 minutes later, what the hell is okay? Idiot making no sense.

Could be that people are trying to see how far they need to travel to buy from you. The location in FB is pretty broad and might even be wrong if people don't pay attention when creating the ad.

I still meet in public for transactions and give general area as a frame of reference when people ask for address.

Problem is, there are no towers near my place, so I can't access it at home.

As soon as it comes here I think I'll switch to 5G for home internet. I have to do some research to see what latency is like though. They're probably holding your package because it hasn't been cleared by CBSA. You can clear it yourself by going to the YVR CBSA Post Office. UPS will have to provide you with the slip. You'll pay a fraction of the cost that UPS is charging you.

It's a scam in a sense where UPS can clear the package, just that they charge a fee for it to do the work. Depending on the value of the item, most of the time it's easier/less hassle to just pay the fee. If the declared value is low, I normally just call UPS to waive off the fee. E.g. $50 declared value and they wanna ding me like $20 bucks.

They're probably holding your package because it hasn't been cleared by CBSA. You can clear it yourself by going to the YVR CBSA Post Office. UPS will have to provide you with the slip. You'll pay a fraction of the cost that UPS is charging you.

I havenÂ’t declined the package arriving at my door because they call me first before that happens. They call you and say thereÂ’s fees needing to be paid with your package and if you want to go ahead with it, I usually decline and tell them I will self-clear the package myself.

My toilet got clogged and when I try to plunge it, the flapper valve in the tank gets pushed open from the pressure and then more water just gets dumped into the toilet bowl.

I've unclogged toilets many times with a plunger before and I'm not even sure if the flapper valve is supposed to get pushed open like this. I'm seeing dirty water from the toilet bowl getting pushed into the toilet tank because of the flapper opening up every time I pump with the plunger.

I turned off the water supply line and I'm plunging and the water in the bowl seems to not want to drain in even the slightest bit. I'm not sure if something is broken or if the toilet is seriously jammed up. wtf.

As for amperage ratings, the fuse that's next to the exiting wire side should be rated for what your accessory needs in order to protect it. The fuse that is inserted at the blade side that goes into the fuse box should be no higher than what the original fuse box location was rated for. That gives you a totally separate circuit from the one you're tapping into. If you put it the other way around you're adding the load onto the fuse you're tapping into.

In other words, find out which side of the fuse block is the source side. I hate it when you have to put the tap in a position that is almost impossible to install because of this. multi tester is your friend.

I always look for an empty slot in the fuse block.

That reminds me of when I got my RX7. Part of why I got it cheap is because none of the electrical, aside from what was needed to run the engine, worked. No lights, no sunroof, no mirrors, no headlight motors, etc. The fusebox covers with the diagrams are both missing so I look them up online. Sure enough one of the engine bay fuses is in the wrong spot, and the cabin fuse box was a gongshow. Some fuses were missing, some fuses were installed for features it didn't have (like a convertible top), a bunch of fuses were blown and none were the correct size. 5 minutes later and everything but the sunroof was working.

i want to explain the risks of oversizing electrical protection in general.
if you replace any breaker/fuse with one that is oversized from original design, you are essentially removing the protection by increasing the trip load - the rest of the system most likely was not designed for that.

eg.
if you have something rated at 15 amps, the wire gauge is rated for 15 amps. if you throw in a breaker / fuse rated at 30 amps in-lieu of a the original 15 amp one, then it can go well past the 15 amps it was designed for...assuming your wiring was oversized to handle 30amps you'll be ok, but most of the time it would not have been the case, so this can overheat your wiring and cause damage (heat/fire for example).

i've seen this happen as a way to solve breaker trips by people not really understanding what they're doing. it's not the solution, it's actually a symptom of a problem that needs to be investigated further, the breaker tripping is doing it's job protecting the system.

Those diagrams are saying the same thing I was. 12V needs to be supplied on the correct side, otherwise the new circuit and the old one are both pulling through the original fuse, which you don't want. Like this:

See how the power for the new circuit would have to go through both fuses? You don't want that to happen. It will still work, it's just more likely to cause issues with fuses blowing, etc.

If you've added that many circuits to your car you should probably run a fused feed to a new fuse box inside the car for all your accessories, like one of these:

Positive is on the left side on both diagrams. Upper and lower left sides are joined.

The right sides (the outputs) are independent.
Top one with the pigtail is the accessory you want to add.

If you delete the bottom fuse, your original accessory will no longer work, but the top one will still work. As long as there is a fuse inserted to complete the circuit.

Think of DC (direct current) electricity as if it was water flowing through your house. Water enters from the left. The fuses are like taps. No fuse, the water stops flowing. If the bottom tap is turned off (no fuse or broken fuse), no water flows through your basement faucet. Water will still flow to the upstairs faucet. One of my managers I've built a decent relationship with at a different department has started to poke at me in getting me to join World Wide Group. I went on google and it has 4.8 stars with 220x google reviews, which is damn good reviews (whether it's legit or people paid to write good reviews, I wouldn't know).

So far he hasn't been on the aggressive approach to recruit me compared to the World Financial Group, Amway, Enagic, he's been introducing me to webinars and boardwalks trying to "interview" me if I'm a good candidate and if I am serious in making a change in my life to earn more money "passively". He doesn't want people that just join and jet 3 months later because they don't feel its right for them. At this point, I'm not for it or against it, pretty much in a neutral stance.

With any business or work, a few make the big bucks and the rest are small potatoes fighting for the scrapes. They have these speakers that sell you the millionaire dollar dream on how they are retired in their early 30's yayayadada. So I literally straight up asked my manager, what are you making for transparency purposes and he's telling me he's making about 5 digits annually, which has allowed his wife to work part-time. So I'm guessing $10-20K conservatively speaking, which is a nice added additional to your regular job.

With this kind of shit, I just feel it ain't no walk in the park and for $$$$$ to roll in, you gotta sell some shit to someone to generate money (even though they claim you ain't poking your family/friends/coworkers for sales). No sales = no money. Also there are monthly overhead costs like $300-350 cdn/month. So if I spend $3,000 - 4,000 a year, to generate $10,000 - $20,000, the ROI is good; however, I don't know if I can be committed in stuff like this where I am not interested in aside for the money. My manager was saying even if you make nothing/lose money, just write off your businesses expenses, so in reality you ain't losing anything.

End of the day, it's still MLM even though approach doesn't come off as aggressively seeking you to join so they can make a quick buck off you. Has anyone been involved with this organization or know anyone? Should I just say I pass and stay the fuck away?

I'm not saying this type of business cannot make money, it's for the select few that rakes in the $$$$$$$$ and the rest fighting for the scraps. What you put in is what you get out of things in life and my manager doesn't want to be a partner of a business (2-3x more than his current salary) or switch jobs (make $30K+ more), all due to he wants to spend more time with family rather than be working longer hours for more money. That's a lifestyle choice, where there will be tradeoffs with every decision made (no right or wrong, we are all different). He's been pitching me on this "passive income" dream life, where he wants to work less hours and earn the same pay rather than be stuck fulfilling the status quo.

I don't really believe in passive income, where you do little or no work and you get paid. There's going to be some degree of work and that's all relative to how someone identifies what is considered work. 2 hours of work can be deemed a lot for some and nothing for others. Wanting to escape the rat race to pursue potential life changing opportunities, that's just how they pitch it you.

Also following these so called steps they identify that will make you successful is generally isn't entirely true. It's like saying if you go to school, get good grades, you'll land a good paying job. There are fucking MBA's that working like $50K and under jobs. If everyone that followed this so called steps, everyone would be millionaires at young age...

You can set live traps to catch them. Problem is what do you do after they are in the cage? I've caught rats and squirrels with live traps, but they're pretty small compared to raccoons. Then there's a chance you'll catch a skunk with the larger traps. Lol.

Car got into a front driver side accident around 6 weeks ago. Car was towed to the shop and battery was dead on arrival. All is good, car is repaired and I pick it up on August 11.

Tried to start it on Sunday (22nd) and the battery was dead. Jump started it and all is fine. Drove it around for a little bit and the battery was recharged enough to be started again. Thinking it might be my dashcam (although I've had the same setup for almost two years), I unplugged it thinking it couldn't hurt.

Tried starting it yesterday afternoon and the battery was dead again. Didn't have a jump start kit so I just left it the way it was and figured I'd deal with it tomorrow.

Around 9PM, went to throw out the trash and noticed the corners of both tail lights were on. Stepped on the brakes and the full tail lights came on and I guess after stepping on it a few times it stopped. Can't tell if it was like that from the brake pedal being stuck or something from when I got into the car earlier. Either way, dashboard is completely dead and I can't even lock/unlock the car remotely at this point.

Thoughts on what could be causing what seems to be a parasitic drain? Shop thinks its the battery and will call ICBC to authorize a new work order, but I think it might be something electrical because of the tail light thing. Shop thinks it might just be as simple as me forgetting to turn off the car lights, but my lights are almost always on auto (it was when I got into the car) and it would only be applicable to the head lights.

From what I can see on the work order and without getting too specific, they replaced the front bumper, front grille, front combination lamp, and miscellaneous realignment.

Not sure if the system they use is still the same, or if the battery is still as undersized, but.....

I was looking at the 2nd gen Mazdaspeed 3 when they were new, and the dealer told me that the car needs to be driven regularly otherwise the battery would die after a month or 2 of sitting dormant.

This is because of the proximity key system and it's constant drain on the battery checking if the key is around. The proximity key is standard on the 2nd gen MS3 in Canada.

The SSPC5 should be the one. not sure if they replaced your battery as well as my was replaced under warranty as well.

i didn't read the nitty gritty, but the RFD'rs were talking and mentioning it's only for accounts with funds in them (not sure who would have funds in it and not just tied to a credit card).

Im amazed at this too.
If its people buying 5$ garbage off amazon, whatever.
But when its a couple hunneds, or even thousands, you would figure signature is mandatory.

I had a laptop dropped off, no call, no nothing, just chillin at my door. 2300$.

I wonder if its cheaper for the companies to pay for 1 of 100 stolen items. Vs than it is to pay 100 of 100 extra shipping costs for signature, etc.

It seems only Amazon does some due diligence by at least making some effort to conceal it under the carpet or behind the bush, and they take a picture they actually delivered it.

UPS/Canada Post etc, they would literally leave it right at the front door in plain sight, no fucks given.

I actually looked into that before.

The problem is delivery rate and cost.

If they "require signature". The cost for every delivery will increase and the amount of packages that can be delivered on a daily basis will take a hit.

Because you don't always have someone to be home to sign, and cost for couriers to go back to the same place is rather high when consider no new revenue is created.

So, Amazon and many major e-tailers mostly see it as a cost of doing business. They'd rather risk losing 1 packages for every 100 packages (which they could insure it), rather than paying $1 more for every delivery.

Not sure when you had this, but in the last year DHL has really upped their game. Unfortunately they're the only real option from Japan right now so I'm forced to receive shipments through them (I say unfortunately because you ALWAYS end up paying duties, but regular post it's like 1/5th of the time only) but nowadays they send you regular e-mail or text updates and they ask you if you want to forego signature confirmation or let them leave it and it allows you instructions. I always write in to walk around the back of my parent's house and leave it on a table under their patio at the back door... they do it every time.

I used to not like DHL at all, but they seem pretty good now despite the fact I have to pay taxes every time I found them to be quite pleasant and upstanding.

I used to do that, but realized that under certain circumstances, you're not doing the flow of traffic any favours. Preventing thru traffic from going, for two cars to turn left. There's a reason for the second sensor. Late at night when traffic's light, sure. Nobody would care. I knew a guy who would purposely reverse to trip the sensor. Until he got caught by the cops, lol.
