ya i was going to say unless it's a tiny kitchen i thought it's usually 2 plugs, on 1 cct but it's been a while since i've looked at plans. but i have a similar setup as i only use 1 at a time.
modular housing come with their own issues, but at least they are self contained units, i can't fathom using shared facilities in an SRO.

She's still got it!
i tried this last night with two different 6 plug adapters and neither fit. when its a gfci outlet w/ the test buttons in the middle, or a usb outlet with plugs in the middle, it changes the spacing of the outlets. i guess 3 plug adapter it is.
That should work fine, my only issue with those things is when you plug in 3 heavy power cords the only thing supporting it all is the tension of the wall receptacle on the splitter's plug prongs, and they can get a little loosey goosey which can lead to bad/arcing connection (especially if the wall receptacle is a little worn out).
I like these ones a little better because they screw into the receptacle and are way more secure:

Any of you guys worked on live edge wood projects before?
I'm trying to finalize some epoxy pours on my live edge wood slab but some parts are a bit tricky, particularly the edges themselves and some holes are really deep.
Any recommendations on which type or brand of tape to use? I'm afraid painters tape isn't cutting it. Thanks in advance.

Tuck tape, the red stuff seems to be what a lot of those people who do Epoxy pours use
Be warned though it sticks to anything and sometimes leaves the red residue

That's what I want to avoid - tape colour being left behind and staining the wood. I can sand it off, but afraid of how deep the residue will penetrate the wood.

Haven't gone to dine out in like....10 years? It was better before, now it's just ridiculous how every mom+pop and chain is in on it.
It's like a thing you do in your 20s to flex that you've done "fine dining". But it's pretty horrible to the staff, the food served is sub-par, and the clientele it attracts are...how should I put this...more riff raff-y?
Would rather just pay full price and not deal with that BS.

Wow dine out, brings back a lot of memories. Had some great experiences with that, and some not so great. This would have been early 00's or even late 90's. It was a cool way to experience a restaurant I never would have been able to afford in my 20's otherwise. And no, I did not do it to "flex". Had no idea it was so horrible to the staff, I was just a customer.
And yeah, I am "riff raffy" so you have a problem with that as a diner?
ffs lol
BTW I see Bacchus is still around, that was a really great one

Question for anyone who dealt with TD Auto.
My car is currently financed with TD Auto, and I got a quote from the dealer for paying it off after trade-in.
Except the pay off amount seems to be the entire loan amount just divided by # of months left.
I've traded in financed cars before and it was ALWAYS the principal amount remaining of the car, never the total amount including interest for the future. But those were always manufacturer financing, and not TD.
Are TD Auto loans structured differently, or am I getting the workaround from the dealer?

We used to do dine out back in the day, exactly as you said for going to restaurants we would have normally never gone to.
After a few experiences where I felt the menu is tailored for dineout because it brings in a volume of people not typically experienced by the restaurant, I lost interest. I rather go to a restaurant to pay full price and get the full exp with the correct menu.
Though that sounds a little entitled haha.

Not as bad as it used to be, because it's not such a race to the bottom for the biggest portions at the lowest prices like it was.
It's just boring, as it's always the same shit over and over in order to do it well. It's like 2 weeks of only making 6 items, and the top app/main/dessert usually are like 80% of the sales mix.

Now that most of us have settled down with a partner and/or family, combined with the fact that we're older and have some disposable income, I don't think RS is the target market for Dine Out anymore.
10-15 years ago we were still in college/university, and Dine Out had $19/29/39 menus. Now it says $20-35/35-50/50-65; I doubt you'll find many at the bottom range of each scale!

Back when we went all in for dine out it was 15/25/35, then 19/29/39. The middle option was always the bread and butter, and we'd occasionally "splurge" on a top option.
I think one of my best experiences regardless of dineout or not was the dineout at The Observatory at Grouse Mountain. That was a superb experience. Or I might be looking back with rose tinted glasses cause I didn't know any better back then.

“The winter season often brings extra expenses for people and, with the rising costs we’re seeing around the world, it can add stress to already stretched household budgets,” said Katrine Conroy, Minister of Finance. “We know it won’t cover all the bills, but hopefully this little extra from the BC Affordability Credit will help take a bit of the pressure off as we head into a new year.”
Eighty-five per cent of British Columbians will automatically receive a full or partial BC Affordability Credit through the Canada Revenue Agency. The credit will provide as much as an additional $164 per adult and $41 per child, which will be as much as $410 for a family with two children.
“We’re focused on helping the people and families who need it most right now, and we are in a strong position to continue this support,” Conroy said. “No matter what is on the horizon, we’ll continue to be here for British Columbians.”
More help is on the way for B.C. families this month through the first of three enhanced BC Family Benefit payments on Jan. 20, 2023. The January, February and March payments will include as much as an additional $58.33 per child, for each month. A family with two children will receive as much as $350 from this top-up.

If WFH was only listed as temporary then it's a poor assumption to make, but it's no different from people in the private sector who did the same thing.
That said, if 60% of them having been working from home just fine then mandating them back into the office with no reason given sounds like someone trying to justify paying for office space that they don't really need or someone in middle management hoping nobody notices they don't provide any actual value. Having people in an office for the sake of having them in an office is stupid.
The ability to WFH has always been a privilege, and temporary.
Depends on the job/agreement. I'm fully work from home and if the company I work for tried to force everyone to go in the company would fall apart because a ton of us are nowhere near the offices. I'm a 7 hour drive from the Canadian office lol.
How much time theft goes on from govt. workers working at home? Lol 35-50% more than in office?
i'd say it's dependent on the position/work.

That's fine but the correct process for this was to have WFH negotiated into their next contract. Making big lifestyle changes like cancelling your kids' daycare and selling your car before you get the permission to have permanent WFH is just dumb.
On the topic of kids' daycare though, there's no fucking way someone is getting a solid day's work while also caring for their kids at home. Salaried employees might have a bit more leeway to "Make up the work" later, but hourly paid employees with their set shifts would totally be stealing time

It says change their child care, not provide or find child care. My wife used to have to pick up my oldest from preschool when my youngest had a nap. I was just an adult in the house making sure it didn't burn down, I was still working normally, but she wouldn't be able to do that if I wasn't WFH. Or now they'll need a place that's open earlier/later due to the commute. Or the current place might be in the opposite direction of the office. There's countless scenarios where you're going to need to change things if the person goes to an office without them stealing time now.
Not to mention if they were that bad at their job they would've been sacked already anyways.

No, because they never had that right in their contract to begin with.

See above, they never had a right to expect that they wouldn't need to ever go back into the office to make child care changes in the first place. Anything after that is moot.

There's a huge difference between never and suddenly. 2.5 months isn't a lot of time to make changes to care.
Reading the article again they also aren't "losing their minds" like you seem to think either. They're a bit annoyed because a change is being made that inconveniences them with no benefit. Whether they have a "right" to expect it or not doesn't change that it's annoying for them. You'd have the same reaction if your employer did something similar to your work arrangement and moved to an office further away or changed you to night shift or something.
Have you ever worked in a union environment before? Lol
You think it's going to be any different because they're in an office building?

I'm not sure what you mean by a difference between "never" and "suddenly"? They never had the right to expect permanent wfh, so any smart person would always expect they could be recalled at anytime, which could in fact be "suddenly", and should have prepared for that reality. Although come on, this isn't that "suddenly", only a moron doesn't look around and see other workplaces recalling workers over the last year and think that they'd be somehow immune to the same from happening in the near future.

My work did actually move its office to a further location back in 2011. I wasn't annoyed or bitch about it at all actually, it was what it was.

I work in the fed gov, you can feel free to ask me any questions... it's neither as bad as some people are saying here nor is it as great as a private company might be "work ethic/sacrifice" wise since there's no stocks or bottom line to protect.
For me I'm against going back into the office solely because there's no benefit of it. I'm not public facing, all my work is conducted through email and phone and it's a waste of $ to provide a desk to me and I have zero need to interact face to face with anyone. On the rare occasion I have to personally deal with someone on-site, I am in 1 day a week. On the personal side of things, I live alone and and my dog is 16.5 years old with cancer, so it would be really hard for me to have to go back in every day trying to take care of her until she passes away.
I think you would find most people in tech and a variety of other fields are in the same boat as me. No customers to deal with, why do you need to come into an office?

Because most people have poor work ethic if they aren’t monitored?
Although honestly I feel more sympathy for you and your dog than the person with 2 kids crying about going back. It’s not your employers job to sort out your personal affairs.

No it's definitely not... and even prior to this, there was an "unfair" swing of time off for people who elected to have kids / importance assigned to them somehow.
That said, the unmonitored thing is hit and miss. On one side of things, we are monitored... ie: we use MS Teams and we can't control our computer settings, so your online status is definitely monitored if you don't touch the keyboard or mouse every 5 minutes it's going to switch to "Away" and a manager is going to heat you up pretty quick. I'm sure you could devise some kind of fun solution to keep your mouse moving around or something, but anyone who goes to those extremes is going to do the same in an actual workplace too.
There are also a lot of ways to determine what workers are doing productivity wise by monitoring usage of shared MS Office applications and see when and where people updated things. We also use SAP and that is all logged and monitored. It comes down to whether your manager trusts you or not and wants to put the screws to anyone. It's definitely no free-for-all.
I personally feel like I get a lot more done and at a different pace... like sometimes I'll switch on the work computer at 10pm at night if I'm bored and go through stuff knowing nobody is going to be bothering me constantly on Teams etc.
I will say I might be a bit of an extreme example though, I do have like 1700hrs of sick leave built up so I've used basically no time off calling in sick and stuff, but I am aware of people who started around the same time I did that are at 0 hours.... so they've essentially been off almost a year more of time than I have lol

I'm not sure what you mean by a difference between "never" and "suddenly"?
You don't have to be expecting to never go back into the office for suddenly having to go back to be inconvenient for you.
That's pretty easy to say after it's already happened lol. Without being involved in their internal correspondence it's difficult to say what they should've expected. If things had gone the other way the people who were paying for nothing for the last 3 years would be getting called morons.

You don't have to be expecting to never go back into the office for suddenly having to go back to be inconvenient for you.
Life structure shouldn't have changed to become inconvenient to have to go back. I didn't change how I operated my life around the pandemic. I expected one day it would be over and things would be back to normal.
That's pretty easy to say after it's already happened lol. Without being involved in their internal correspondence it's difficult to say what they should've expected.
But this would be outlined in the collective agreement. Unless provisions were added in there, there would be no reason to expect otherwise.

Like I understand going back to the office can be a pain in the ass, and sucks, especially if you're not outward facing and just feel like you're warming a desk. So, make that a negotiation factor and put it into the next damned agreement. But right now to everyone else on the outside it looks like a kid throwing a temper tantrum.
And no, I was not annoyed at all. My drive while longer was better, parking was better, and the office itself was better :)

Life structure changes for people either way. Kids didn't stop being born or parents growing older just because of the pandemic. Not everyone was changing based on things that were preexisting.
But this would be outlined in the collective agreement. Unless provisions were added in there, there would be no reason to expect otherwise.
People are still going to form expectations based on what they're told to expect from future agreements though. Acting on it before it's on paper is presumptuous but that's not exclusive to people in the public section lol.
The link I posted is the subject of the Reddit thread, come on man.
Right but you based your post on the comments posted in the Reddit thread, while posting a link just to the article. So it looked like you were commenting on the quotes in the article, not Reddit comments. This is hard to convey coherently so if what I'm saying doesn't make sense I'm not surprised.
Lots of people in there claiming the only reason for back to office is to support local businesses downtown. That's just absurd.
Tbf that's not overly surprising when the article leads with that. If it's not for local businesses what's the reason for sending them back then?
Like I understand going back to the office can be a pain in the ass, and sucks, especially if you're not outward facing and just feel like you're warming a desk. So, make that a negotiation factor and put it into the next damned agreement.
You could say the same going the other way too. I know they don't have to wait until the next agreement but it seems like it would be an easy way to win favour with the union by not making people bounce back and forth between setups needlessly. Upsetting 86% of your workforce generally seems like a bad idea.
But right now to everyone else on the outside it looks like a kid throwing a temper tantrum.
That's how I view mandating people back to an office "because I said so".
edit: fuck me that's a lot of split quotes.

The thing is WFH was never some agreement or contract negotiation that the employer is going back on. It was to keep people from getting sick or losing their jobs, or both. It was done in good faith to protect people and never should have gone on this long, at least in this case.

This whole thing is a bit of a pickle really.
This work thing, an unwritten expectation is that an employee expects the employer to provide a space for work. When the pandemic happened the employer no longer upheld their side, and the employee had to deal with it themselves.
A lot of them had to move farther away to afford a home with the right mixture of price and space to be able to work properly. Now on a whim the employers want to bring them back into the office.
To say that I have more sympathy for the employees I think is fair. A lot of these decisions were made a year into the pandemic with no end in sight and we are closing in on 3 years and all of sudden, come back to the office. No option.

This is partially true. It was done as a way to not spread the virus, and done very hastily at that. When the pandemic started, I had no laptoip, just a desktop, and they very quickly had to find a laptop for me... it was up tp me to figure out a desk and chair and whatever else at home. I received no compensation for this, though some agencies were nicer ie: RCMP I believe reimbursed people up to $400-500 for various expenditures... my agency did nothing whatsoever. Also, I am now the one providing my own internet and phone for work purposes too. The government is saving a lot of money from this and the burden was placed on employees to ensure they could still work.
That said, at the same time as the pandemic happened, we were in the middle of a review to convert to a hotel system for desks where you no longer have a desk and you sign in for the day and take a laptop out and get a space given to you. This is called Office 2.0 I believe in the Real Property circles... ergo the government was very seriously heading toward a direction where they are reducing their footprint office wise. Transport Canada has all but closed all its offices now and is entirely remote working save for a few locations.
I can remember meetings as long as 4 years ago where the CFO of my organization said they wanted us to get laptops and work from home 1-2 days a week due to not enough desk space as well, so plans were definitely in place prior to the pandemic... the pandemic just hastened them.

Actually, I think 2-3 days a week is just perfect hybrid blend. I love WFH but I go batty if I don't see anyone for like 5 days straight (other than family), I've gained weight (kitchen is too tempting) so 2-3 days at office and the other 2 or 3 days at home is the perfect blend. WFH pluses - save time commuting, save gas, can work in your PJ's ... even if company doesn't mandate a couple of days in the office, I think I would do that on my own.

Considering most people drive 30 mins to and from work, not to mention alot of them 1hr, the amount of gas, maintenance and depreciation saved is huge
100$ a week in gas, say 20$ for maintenance, 40$ for depreciation.
160$/week saved in car expenses
If you were really smart, and got rid of one of the two cars for a household, the savings would be massive. This is what one of my friends did, they only have one car even until this day
The 100$ extra in internet and 50$ for a phone plan is peanuts vs car expenses, you needed faster internet and a landline? I figure most people would just keep using their existing internet and phone, most people I know have unlimited calling and unlimited internet before the pandemic
I wouldn't call it a burden, I would call it a blessing that you had the ability to still be employed. Many people locally that lost their job from the pandemic, would have begged for a job at the start of the pandemic
People in the tourism industry, globally, got raped, back to rice farming and agriculture for them

I thought WFH benefitted both sides. The company no longer needed to provide big office space for there employees to work out of and the employees.... well they have a shitload of benefits. Honestly ive never worked in an office where it was possible to WFH but isnt there a supervisor or manager that asks the employee "What the fuck did u do all day?" If shit wasnt getting done. Or is it because its a government job where this kind of logic is thrown out the window.

The thing about WFH is for it to work properly the systems that create the benefit need to be in place. Everything from equipment budgets for the people, standards of productivity, communication lines and expectations for such, reduction in office space and leases. It can't be just "ok go home and do your shit."
It's going to be a long process for some places and a short process for others with more modern practices already in place for the businesses.
We all have seen how poorly that the public sector adapts to changing their systems and practices.

Does part of what you're against come from the fact that you're in an industry where it would be impossible to work from home? Your wife is as well.
That is definitely a problem for sure. If everyone was working from home and I'm the one out there at the hospital caring for their sick or I'm making their food or showing up to fix something at their house... I'd be pretty bitter about that in some ways.
I'm not sure what the answer is for that... but if a job doesn't require any customer service then I'm not sure what the rationale is besides the "you automatically don't work as had when you're at home" argument.. which is like saying that nobody does anything right unless they're being watched... which is kinda the opposite of what I think you normally would believe in society wise.
And as donk mentioned above, I'm aware that some people lost jobs during the pandemic, I have friends that did too, so I'm not complaining about the expenses but just saying it wasn't free or without cost. I did it happily, but I was answering a question. I walked/took the Canada Line every day myself, so fuel wasn't a factor, but that's still like $7-8 a day of train costs I didn't have to pay anymore. And I got 2 hours back in my life every day that I didn't have before. Sort of. Sometimes being at home all the time isn't a great thing either -- it can lead to depression and antisocial behaviours.
MOST agencies have gone back to work. Mine goes in 1 day a week right now and it will be 2 days a week starting in March. Some are not going back, but they're in a minority.
There are pros and cons to every workplace and type of work. I can be envious of people who create things... like art or food. I can be envious of people who work for big corporations or private companies that get a Christmas bonus or big parties for holiday seasons with prizes and stuff. I can be envious of more dynamic workplaces that reward people for hard work rather than being in a system where no matter how had you work you get paid the same as the person next to you. I can be envious of places outside the government that have much more upward mobility or aren't so bottom heavy -- government tends to pay a lot for stupid jobs and not enough for complicated ones. I could probably make twice as much as I am right now in private doing the same type of work. And that's where I'm headed fairly soon actually... I put in my time and I've had enough, time for a change.
But the thing is it's a choice, I mean if anyone wants a government job and thinks it's all that, jobs.gc.ca is your church and for me I see there are different things I want, it's up to me to change it.

Private sector is brutal. They can fire you without cause, they can demote you, they can demean you, etc etc. Yes the money might be better, but the work/life balance is often a lot worse. Job security and satisfaction is also quite low.

It’s a bit odd to take that stance, “time theft” as it were occurs in every industry. Just because you’re an employee of the government / your salary is paid through tax dollars doesn’t mean you need to be chained to a desk like some slave does it?
We’re all in the same boat, we’re all the ones working for someone and at the lower end of a totem pole to a certain extent… we should be on the same side. You guys sound like CEO’s when you say that lol… so yah take 5 minutes here and there to write back on whatsapp to someone or go for a smoke or whatever. Everyone does it.
Like I mentioned before, there are plenty of monitoring tools in place like any workplace. If anyone is miserable about the work/life balance or upset that they can’t take any breathers when they’re working, they should probably consider switching careers IF it bothers them enough that they care or wish they could do the same.
It’s give and take, sometimes you need half an hour for something, you give half an hour back at the end of the day or whatever. Are there some people who take and take and take? As with all facets of life — YES. Are most people honest though? I think so. At least from what I see.

I have been trying to cut back as well and am currently attempting dry January. I have done dry months a few times in the past successfully but did not find much impact one way or another, but I admit this time around I have had a few cheat days already.
I am not sure if it's due to age or just more self-awareness of my mental and physical state, I definitely see a big difference this time around. Mentally my anxiety is way lower on the days where I don't drink. Also having a fitbit, I can definitely tell a difference in my resting heart rate, sleep quality, and heart rate variability.
I have been testing out a wide variety non-alcoholic beers and beverages this month. In case anybody is interested, here are my thoughts:
Partake Brewing - Canadian company, their beers are very low calorically (10-20 cals per can), but flavor wise very thin and absolutely does not satisfy the feeling of drinking a beer. Good if you want to cut back on calories, go for the Stout.
Athletic Brewing - popular brand in the states, with investors like JJ Watt and Dave Chang. Beer is flavorful but still has that distinct sweetness of a near-beer. My go-to is the extra dark, since the sweet roasted flavors mask the sweetness.
Heineken 0.0 - This is one of the closest to the real-thing NA beers I've tried. If you don't pay attention, it could pass off as a real Heineken. Would recommend if you don't mind macro brewed lager. It is, however, expensive. Costs almost as much as the real beer, which feels kind of weird.
Budweiser Zero - Available cheap from costco, almost 1/3 the price of Heineken 0.0. Taste wise also one of the closest to real bud light. That is, if you're good with bland light beer. Lower calories at 50 per can too. Very chuggable. Good cheap way to satisfy.
Clausthaler Dry Hopped - Although the brand is available locally, I only found the well-reviewed 'dry hopped' version at Trader Joes in the US. I haven't tried their basic one, but the dry-hopped one is fantastic. Not only does it taste like real beer, it tastes like a GOOD real beer. Highest in calories though at 93 calories per can. Like a dildo without batteries, fills you up without the buzz.
Lagunitas Hoppy Refresher - Also only found in the US, not technically a beer but a sparking water infused with Hops. This shit is DELICIOUS. Refreshing with light sweetness, but zero calories. Dunno how they do it. Tastes like a gin and soda, or white wine spritzer. Would drink this regularly even outside of dry January
Also apparently in Europe athletes use Non-Alcoholic beer as a post-workout 'isotonic' energy drink, so there's that lol.

a lot of my clients are doing 3 days in the office 2 days at home as a hybrid and shared work space desk.
i've got a couple of clients, asking me to install software to monitor some people as it seems they are not completing their tasks when at home, always away on teams.
for everyone that has an issued computer from work, you won't even know the software is installed on your computer as there is no indication of it.

I haven't complained about anyone working from home. I literally complained about them fucking crying about going back.
As for the business, it depends on the business. If you have to interact with your coworkers as a group there's no way a zoom call is more efficient than being in the same room together.

Had a normal checkup today and the doctor asked the standard "How many drinks a week do you have?" I told him "4-6", his eyes visibly bulged.
4-6 per week (most times less) is a large amount?
Damn.
You sound like you take care of yourself at least. I wonder what's worse for people, 5-10 drinks a week or carrying an extra 50+ lbs of fat around daily for years. Why isn't there more ads telling people to lose weight? (I'm not actually asking we know why)

Ass juice droplets in the can = craft beer
PSA, I don't even drink beer, ciders only, and yes in the shower. So we will classify it as craft cider with the ass droplets
So do you wipe standing up or sitting down?

I think beer while showering falls into a similar category of drinking while hot tubing. Although hot tubing being more socially acceptable venue to enjoy a drink vs a shower that theoretically should be a brisk event..

How do you guys feel about this?
https://www.cloverdalereporter.com/entertainment/alec-baldwin-to-be-charged-with-manslaughter-in-shooting/
Prosecutors announced Thursday that actor Alec Baldwin and a weapons specialist will be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer who was killed in 2021 on a New Mexico movie set.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies issued a statement announcing the charges against Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who supervised weapons on the set.
Halyna Hutchins died shortly after being wounded during rehearsals for the Western “Rust” at a ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe on Oct. 21, 2021. Baldwin was pointing a pistol at Hutchins when the gun went off, killing her and wounding the director, Joel Souza.
Authorities said assistant director David Halls has signed a plea agreement for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, who led the initial investigation into Hutchins’ death, described “a degree of neglect” on the film set. But he left decisions about potential criminal charges to prosecutors after delivering the results of a yearlong investigation in October. That report did not specify how live ammunition wound up on the film set.
Baldwin — known for his roles in “30 Rock” and “The Hunt for Red October” and his impression of former President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live” — has described the killing as a “tragic accident.”
He sought to clear his name by suing people involved in handling and supplying the loaded gun that was handed to him on the set. Baldwin, also a co-producer on “Rust,” said he was told the gun was safe.
In his lawsuit, Baldwin said that while working on camera angles with Hutchins during rehearsal for a scene, he pointed the gun in her direction and pulled back and released the hammer of the weapon, which discharged.
New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator determined the shooting was an accident following the completion of an autopsy and a review of law enforcement reports.
New Mexico’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau has levied the maximum fine against Rust Movie Productions, based on a scathing narrative of safety failures, including testimony that production managers took limited or no action to address two misfires of blank ammunition on the set prior to the fatal shooting.
Rust Movie Productions continues to challenge the basis of a $137,000 fine by regulators who say production managers on the set failed to follow standard industry protocols for firearms safety.
The armorer who oversaw firearms on the set, Gutierrez Reed, has been the subject of much of the scrutiny in the case, along with an independent ammunition supplier. An attorney for Gutierrez Reed has said she did not put a live round in the gun that killed Hutchins, and she believes she was the victim of sabotage. Authorities said they have found no evidence of that.
Investigators initially found 500 rounds of ammunition at the movie set on the outskirts of Santa Fe — a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and what appeared to be live rounds. Industry experts have said live rounds should never be on set.
In April 2022, the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department released a trove of files, including lapel camera video of the mortally wounded Hutchins slipping in and out of consciousness as a medical helicopter arrived. Witness interrogations, email threads, text conversations, inventories of ammunition and hundreds of photographs rounded out that collection of evidence.
State workplace safety regulators said that immediate gun-safety concerns were addressed when “Rust” ceased filming, and that a return to filming in New Mexico would be accompanied by new safety inspections.
The family of Hutchins — widower Matthew Hutchins and son Andros — settled a lawsuit against producers under an agreement that aims to restart filming with Matthew Hutchin’s involvement as executive producer.
“Rust” was beset by disputes from the start in early October 2021. Seven crew members walked off the set just hours before the fatal shooting amid discord over working conditions.
donk.
01-19-2023, 01:16 PM
Don't see why Alec is going to be prosecuted, his job is to pick up the gun and shoot it. It's not his job to check for real rounds on a MOVIE set
The "weapons expert" + the company handling the weapons, on the other hand messed up. How the hell do you even get live rounds onto a movie set, unless he wanted the cinematographer dead
68style
01-19-2023, 01:19 PM
Yah I don't get why Alec is charged unless there's more to the story we don't know about.
Maybe it's because he's a producer for the movie as well and therefore liable by extension in good ol USA???
I call those bath showers. You sit in the tub while the shower is going at high heat, if you wanna be spicy throw the plug in the drain and let the tub slowly fill.

this might be weird too but i take my showers in the dark. i just have my night light on that is always in the bathroom so i can sorta see around me. i know where my soap is, i know where my junk is, i don't need to see in great detail when im in the shower. i find its more relaxing. i don't really do it when im taking a 3 minute shower but if im taking a bit of a longer hot shower to relax as well then it's quite nice. try it!

The prosecutors gave their reasonings for the charges in a CNN interview:
https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/19/us/santa-fe-alec-baldwin-rust-charged/index.html
After reading through that, I kind of understand the charges. It factors in his responsibility as a producer to ensure safety procedures on set in general... Especially given that they had multiple previous safety issues on set (including misfires) it seems like some negligence there.

Talk about guys with a plan to kill police officers.
Anti-government bank robbers who wanted to make a statement about gun ownership rights.
https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/01/20/saanich-bank-shooting-updated/
The suspects involved in a brazen day-time bank shooting in Saanich last year had been planning the incident since at least 2019, with the intent of killing as many police officers as possible, investigators say.
The latest details come more than six months after the incident unfolded at the BMO in the Vancouver Island community, leaving locals and many others across the province shaken.
In an update provided Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, investigators say the suspects, who were identified as twin 22-year-old brothers, both held strong views on government and police. They add the evidence is clear the attempted bank robbery was a means to get police to respond in droves, and that Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie knew they wouldn’t survive.
“Despite previous speculations, there was no evidence found to suggest any third party was involved,” RCMP Corp. Alex BĂ©rub© with the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit said Friday.
It was determined the suspects’ primary objective was to shoot and kill police officers, in what they saw as a stand against government regulations, especially in relation to firearms ownership.”
In total, officials say more than 100 magazines and drums were found in vehicle linked to the suspects, along with over 3,500 rounds of ammunition. Both men held legal firearms licences “for both non-restricted and restricted firearms,” BĂ©rub© adds.
In addition, more than 30 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered. Though police say the IEDs were “not sophisticated,” they had the potential to cause death and serious injury. What the suspects planned to do with these devices is not known.
BC RCMP Major Crime Unit Superintendent Sanjaya Wijayakoon says there were 22 innocent people inside the bank when the suspects entered wearing full body armour, armed with semi-automatic SKS rifles.
My days of seeking out unique sours and IPAs have passed, these days I am just as happy with an ice cold Lucky Lager. If it's the middle of summer I might even put some ice in it as well, SE asia style.

A bit of a reprieve & perspective on Canada's new alcohol consumption guidelines
https://archive.is/0QwXH
Although reports have suggested that the guidelines are based on nearly 6,000 peer-reviewed studies, strict criteria ruled all but 16 systematic studies out from being used in the mathematical modelling. In other words, the CCSA is basing its recommendations on a relatively narrow understanding of how alcohol functions.
The CCSA also presents the relative risk, rather than the absolute risk, of developing the various conditions. According to its data, consuming three and a half drinks a day increases your risk of developing larynx cancer by nearly 100 per cent, which sounds shocking, and is presented in a table with scary red shading. But larynx cancer, which is mostly related to smoking, was diagnosed in roughly 0.0197 per cent of Canadians in 2022. Many of the other cancers the CCSA associates with alcohol also have low incidence rates.

Yeah another good article I read picking apart the new "guidelines":
https://nationalpost.com/opinion/sabrina-maddeaux-two-drinks-a-week-new-guidelines-are-unsupported-and-puritanical-kill-joys
Seems like lots of cherry picking of data, and fearmongering involved.
IE "100% INCREASE IN LARYNX CANCER RISK*"

Working out is always the best indicator of how much you lose when you go on a bender lol..
In my top “athlete” days played rugby for highschool team as well as a very competitive club team so like 2-3 practices a week and a couple games a week. Those weekends you’d go out and beer bong 15 beers, the next practice felt like you set yourself back a month of training lol
1st day back in to the gym after a bender ugghhhh 10x worse than a case of the mondays :lol

That said if anyone didn't eat at pepinos because it "isn't nicks" here's your sign. If you don't take it, don't complain about good independent restaurants closing, cause you aren't supporting them.

lol local lawyer organizes children's laser tag birthday party at Planet Lazer, sues for (among other things) a lack of decorations and being charged for bringing in a vegetable platter, awarded $37.50 from the $350 in damages she asked for.
https://www.canlii.org/en/bc/bccrt/doc/2023/2023bccrt7/2023bccrt7.html
Basically every one of her claims were dismissed due to lack of evidence, except the fact Planet Lazer counted adults as 'participants' when the judge disagreed:
I find that most of the additional benefits of a “participant” in the birthday party package are aimed at children. I agree with Ms. Pivnick that the fact that Planet Lazer did not provide extra pizza or cake for the adults supports the conclusion that Planet Lazer did not consider them “participants” under the contract. I find that if the 3 adults were participants, the contract would have required Planet Lazer to order extra pizza for them (or provide a discount on the extra pizza Ms. Pivnick had already ordered). I find that Planet Lazer was only entitled to charge Ms. Pivnick the normal rate for playing the laser tag games. I order Planet Lazer to reimburse Ms. Pivnick the $37.50 difference.

Last year for my son's 5th we did the birthday party package at the bowling alley.
About a week before the party, Norovirus started running its course through the daycare. My son had it early in the week prior to the party, but by Friday night it both my wife and I caught it, and a bunch of other kids whose parents sent emails that they couldn't attend.
So Saturday morning we were going to cancel the party and called the bowling alley, explain the situation and the possibility of Noro running through everyone that visited them that day, and to see if there was anything they could do to reschedule, or give us a credit or whatever.
The bowling alley basically told us too bad, they didn't care.
So we weren't going to throw a fit at the bowling alley or anything like that, like a karen, but we weren't going to lose our $450, so we carried on with the party as scheduled with those that were still set to attend.
It was absolutely excruciating for both the wife and I, but we made it through. Once we got home, we basically didn't leave the couches for the rest of the afternoon.
I was kind of hoping to hear about a Noro breakout at the alley afterwards.

I actually had a great experience at Rev’s in terms of customer service lol
We went to a friends bday at Rev’s and I didn’t know anyone but the birthday girl, so o proceeded to start guzzling beers to increase my social skills
A few games in this kinda loud mouthed guy walks in front of one of those scoring kisosks you punch your names in etc. and he rips his shirt wide open. I kinda laugh and think “lol what a knob”
Fast forward a few beers later and I walk by the same kiosk and tear a fat hole in my shirt lol.. I’m looking at it being like wtffff.. I feel the machine and there’s threads of a screw sticking out like 3/4” inch at what’s eye level for a small kid.
I show my wife and was kinda like ehh fuck.. she’s like nah fuck that goes and gets the manager and I show him like bro, ya got a screw sticking out eye level that ripped two of our shirts..
Mine was a brand new Lululemon tee which are like $70.. so I didn’t expect much. However the guy emailed me the next day then mailed me a rev’s cheque for $70 later that week.
Honestly customer service like that should be the norm rather than the exception. It’s so fucking stupid to sour your customers over small shit. Especially when it’s your fault
donk.

https://www.mint.ca/en/shop/coins/2023/2-special-wrap-roll-honouring-queen-elizabeth-ii
You can order by phone as well. They released them 6:00 am this morning our time (9:00 am EST). 5 million of the coins were struck for general circulation, but these are the only way you can get them in uncirculated condition. I was thinking these would be sold out quickly, but was told no set mintage................. Wah????
Still, people will sell them for hundreds of dollars per roll on eBay. There's a limit of three rolls per household (like that stops anyone, gulolol).
The circulation coins have been out in the public via banks and laundromats since last year, but I haven't seen any. They even had a coin exchange in Winnipeg back then. None made it out west, I guess............

Coin collecting and stamp collecting is such a generational thing. My mom has a crap load of stamps and coins and to me it’s all just junk. She’s like ohhh it’s worth something. No it’s not. You’ll never sell it, so it ain’t worth jack. And I’m sure as shit their value will depreciate as the younger generation don’t give a rats ass about this kind of stuff.
First day covers ? More like throw it in the garbage envelopes. Who uses stamps anymore ?!!

Your mom's stamps are most likely 100% junk and worth absolutely nothing. However, early stamps in good condition, which is rare, are worth thousands. And, their value keeps going up. There's only so many of these stamps out there. I have a couple of mint Bluenose stamps that are catalogued at $700.00 each. They are in exceptional condition (pristine gum, mathematically centred image, vibrant colour). Was told by an appraiser it'll fetch well over a thousand each. Catalog value goes out the window when exceptional quality stamps that have beed properly stored and cared for are concerned.

Another example...........
https://www.arpinphilately.com/itm/canada-stamp-o-official-ox3-officially-sealed-victoria-on-white-paper-1907
I'm in search of a perfect copy of this stamp. It has eluded me for 5 decades. We're talking perfect copy. One of a kind. I have a lame copy where the image is off centre and has been hinged to a page by the previous owner.
Even modern day stamps have potential to be worth a pretty penny. I purchased a couple of Lunar New Year Uncut Press Sheets from Canada Post at face value (I have standing order with them). That thing sold out instantly and now fetch five times the original value. Nobody can get one anymore, so they will keep increasing in price. I actually have every uncut press sheet ever produced by Canada Post. The earlier ones I paid through the nose for, but it's complete. Another cool thing I got, for free from a stamp dealer friend was a first day cover of the Canada in Space stamp. The cover was signed by all members of the team. Bondar, Hadfield, Garneau, etc. Probably not worth anything, but cool nonetheless.
Oh, forgot......... hockey stamp cards. Autographed ones. Bobby Orr, Esposito, Howe, Bower, Horton, etc. I even have a signed and framed Mario Lemieux stamp and coin set. All the Star Trek stuff, too. Yeah, nearly 60 years of collecting.
My pride and joy are these little known gems that Canada Post created to be given out to foreign dignitaries showcasing Canadian stamps. Stamps in very nice presentation folders. Given out at the Congress of the Universal Postal Union. Every four years they meet. There are some that you cannot get anywhere for any price............. not known or mentioned in any catalogs. The ones that are mentioned are starting to take off in price.
I have a hygrometer in just about every room in the house. Humidity kills stamps.

Just kidding. Similar to Mikoyan. Got our wedding cake there. I wasn't a believer of everyone saying the cake there is good. I'm a believer now. :alone:
just FYI, that was the 7/11 that we used to sneak a peak porno mags at back in the days. Also that bakery's been around (wasnt called yan's, but same location) since i was a kid. :concentrate:
I havent tried this new bakery, but when i go visit me ole mum, ill go buy a cake from there and try it.
Haha yeah I haven't had a hard doughnut before.
Go try the sourdoughnut at luckys. Best doughnut I've ever had. Glazed, but not too heavy and has the sourdough tang. Fluffy as a cloud.
Appreciate the suggestion, since you're in the restaurant Bizz, i trust your recommendations (the wife's asking if you know a place that does red velvet cream cheese frosting cupcakes that doesnt taste like a bag of dicks)

Didn't really want to start a new thread about this but in Memphis, there was another incident of police brutality on a black man. Victim is Tyre Nichols BUT the 5 cops were all black ... wth is going on here?

thank god (eruhhh kinda?) that they were black. if they were white, Memphis would be burning right now.
But fuck those 5 assholes. they'll get theirs in jail for sure.
