Any one have a person or know someone that does window screens?
Feel free to post or PM me.
Thanks!
Me two. I have one screen that is shredded and one window that, for some strange reason, is missing a screen. I knew a guy who made them in South Langley, but I don’t live in the Valley anymore.

Oddly enough, replacing them is pretty straight forward from the videos I've seen on YouTube.
You really just need the tool and the screen (provided your frames are in working order).
I know how handy you are so it should be easy for you!
I, however, do not have any screens and so I costed the materials and it's about the same as getting them professionally done.

Stamps are no better. As a long time philatelist, I'm finding it very hard to keep up. Every release has different versions of the design. Coil stamps, inscription sets, uncut press sheets, souvenir sheets, joint releases with other countries, booklets, first day covers, commemorative envelopes, post cards, etc. Thank god they stopped making plate proofs and essays.

So I want to start eating Kimchi for the gut health benefits of eating fermented foods..lately I’ve been better but for quite some time I’ve had bad heart burn and indigestion
I find all foods are different and spices etc. but do those who eat kimchi fairly regularly find that the chili in it is the type that can cause heart burn?

Ive never had a problem with kimchi but ive been eating it since I was like 14 so maybe Im just used to it?
Maybe try sauerkraut and other pickled foods if the chili is concerning? Or buy a small package and see how it works for you.
If you dont have a problem with dairy, yogurt and kefir are great options.
Kombucha is also a good option if you can learn to love the taste. When i first started drinking it, it tasted like feet lol but i love them all now

All you need to make this stuff is at Fujiya.
It's time consuming to get it right, but once you get the hang of it, it's wAnderful. People have passed down the nuka from generation to generation. I made mine from scratch by following a recipe I found on the web years ago that no longer exists. Anyway..............
OR.......... you can skip all of that and just buy ones that are already made at Fujiya. The lady who makes the stuff told me she started a batch a week ago. The only issue with that is, it's not always there. It usually sells out in a day or two and it's only pickled locally grown Japanese cucumbers.
BTW, there's nothing in this world like pickled watermelon rinds (hard skin removed with a hint of red part showing). So, so good. I hate watermelon itself, but the pickled rind is like heaven.

I stumbled across this stuff at the White Rock farmers market last summer: https://www.route18shrubclub.com/ There’s a “where to buy” page on their site that seems to have grown quite a bit since the last time I looked.
I’ve had the peach turmeric in my fridge ever since. Any time I feel heartburn might be coming on I take a swig. Haven’t bought Tums in a year or so now and I used to buy the 4 packs from Costco. BrokeBack

When I was in my late teens/early twenties, me and my buddies used to go to the Night Market all the time. We would eat until we were completely stuffed for less than $25. I went last year, and I don't remember the food being so expensive and the portions so small. I think I spent around $40 and I wasn't even full? Might as well have gone to a real sit-down restaurant for that price IMO. It seems like the caterers are moving towards more of a "food truck" style, aka more expensive food and smaller portions..... won't be going this year lol.

I would recommend a couple window-installed fans to move that stuffy air out of the apartment instead of just circulating it around. Install them on the hottest side of your place, set them to blow the air out, and open a window on the opposite side to get some nice flow going. This, along with keeping the blinds closed, helped to keep our place a few degrees cooler than outside.
Then, we got an air conditioner when we could afford one, and it is heaven.

My cousin is marrying her American fiance at the Peace Arch Provincial Park this weekend. To get there, will we have go go through border line-up or is there some side route that could bypass it? What would the travel time roughly be from 8th Ave on this May Long if we do have to wait in the line before pulling off?

If I remember correctly, there's a right turn before the duty free (on the Canadian side) that takes you to a parking lot for the park. (Google Maps says it's Beach Rd)
Yup, there used to be two parking lots way back when I was a wee lad. Played in a marching band that performed each year at the "Hands Across the Border" celebration.

It all started when they build the low rise Condo's on the North Side of Lougheed to the East of Brentwood Mall. That used to be their home. Then they migrated over to Still Creek area, but this year I haven't seen them around the BCIT area at all. Its been pretty weird.

Quite the little conundrum we have here
https://windsor.ctvnews.ca/human-rights-application-launched-against-windsor-body-waxing-business-by-transgender-woman-1.3925911
A Windsor business specializing in body hair removal is facing a Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario complaint after the alleged denial of service to a transgender woman.
The complainant seeks compensation in the amount of $50,000 for “immense harm to my dignity,” according to the complaint filed through the tribunal.
The complainant indicates in the application that she contacted Mad Wax in Windsor in March to inquire about getting her legs waxed. She says she also asked whether Transgender women were welcome for waxing services. After a conversation with the employee, she was told the manager would follow up.
When the manager, Jason Carruthers returned her call, the complainant alleges he advised that Mad Wax does not provide waxing services to men and that his ‘waxer’ is a Muslim woman who is not comfortable waxing male parts. Carruthers also indicated no other staffwere available to perform the request.

Lol I think people are just suing for anything now because they realized if you're a special type of person your hurt feelings could lead to a big payout.
I think it's kind of a slap in the face to people who have real problems they have to sue for. Like people who get sick from pharmaceuticals or something.
Not to say this persons feelings aren't valid but honestly you can wax your own legs at home lol. You can buy the wax and have a friend do it for free. If my feelings get hurt by someone in the service industry, could I get 50k? Probably not since I'm a straight woman.

Most home improvement shops do it, as will little hole-in-the-wall shops in malls and shit.
Usually you buy the blank key, and the cutting is free. It depends on the type of key you need.
"Cheapest" is moot here because you're talking about a difference of cents, or a few dollars at best - do whatever's most convenient.
Large stores won't duplicate the key if it sais DO NOT DUPLICATE on it. Smaller shops will do it if you pay them in cash, in my experience lol

I was originally told ~$12. Then friend told me it's only $4 at Asian shops. So it's more than a few cents/$ difference. Especially when you have quite a few keys to copy.
last time i had a key done at a big box store like rona or HD it was under $5. it was a few years ago though. IIRC the HD by gilmore does a poor job but it may have been the employee not the machine.
It’s most likely the employee. They wouldn’t design a machine that did a poor job. Once in a while, you get a really knowledgeable employee who knows their shit, but a lot of the Home Depot employees wouldn’t know a Philips from a Robertson from a Torx. “Oh, you mean the square one?” Or the guy who says “star” screwdriver. You mean a Torx? He was referring to a Philips. A plus or cross or even “x” would have been more correct. I mean, seriously, do they make a fucking, “Star of David” screw head and driver nowadays? CiC?
This is what happens when they stop grade eight kids from having to take Industrial Education. /rant

We did 6 years of CAPP and it seemed like all we did was personality tests and then have the teachers tell us that's what we're meant to do even if we had zero interest (or talent) in doing it ... or look up how much different professions make.

It probably won't make a big difference if the tank is still mostly premium unless you're going to be putting heavy stress on it (track, towing, etc).

Bought a place and need to have all the documents and titles transferred etc. I've called several locations with quotes that seem like a random number they chose to pick. Anyone here have any they've used recently & quotes?
Happy with Alex Luk @ Compass Notary near Metrotown. Referred to me by my realtor (also an RS member). Paid about $600 in 2016. Rates I'm sure have gone up since but he will break down the price upon request and not throw you a random number.

I was originally told ~$12. Then friend told me it's only $4 at Asian shops. So it's more than a few cents/$ difference. Especially when you have quite a few keys to copy.
lol, so both are just hearsay - the only time I paid $12 for a regular key cut was when the GF wanted a disney branded blank...
Might be easier for you to find an asian shop if you're doing bulk, just make sure they cut it properly and have the wire brush to clean it up, etc.

In Portland, Ore., organizers of the “Reparations Happy Hour” invited black, brown and indigenous people to a bar and handed them $10 bills as they arrived, a small but symbolic gift mostly funded by white people who were asked not to attend.

Sounds legit from dealer, because dealer + distributor markup. But a quick search on ebay finds them for $72.51 CAD shipped.

Three letters and four calls from Sirius XM telling me to renew my trial period subscription. It ends in July/August. What the hell? It's harassment. Once, twice, maybe, but fucking hell......... leave me alone, ffs.
I'm not into XM, but like to listen to the Elvis Channel, the Eagles when they had it, or the Beattles Channel. I'm not gonna pay for it, though.
Any way around the pay thing? My Acura had XM and not a peep from them for nearly two years.........even after I sold it.

Bye bye miss American pie
https://www-m.cnn.com/2018/06/05/us/miss-america-swimsuit-trnd/index.html
The next edition of the Miss America pageant will scrap swimsuits and will be more inclusive to women of all sizes, the contest announced Tuesday.
Gretchen Carlson, the chairwoman of the Miss America board of directors, announced on "Good Morning America" that the event will no longer feature a swimsuit portion.
Miss America will be a competition, not a pageant, Carlson said on the show Tuesday.
"We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. That's huge," she said.

Sitting in my truck, on the ferry to Victoria. I see a huge cloud of smoke coming from a couple of cars ahead of me, thinking "holy fuck these vapers are being so heaty"
Next thing you know, the guy on the driver's side is all frantic, then starts asking for water. Flames start coming up from his door panel and he starts trying to pat it out with his hand lol. So I grabbed a fire extinguisher and put it out but the plastic kept smouldering. At that point the ferry workers showed up and took the hose to it. Last I saw they were taking an axe to door, flooding it with water. RIP Hyundai

It was only recently I realized the “first narrows” is the lions gate lol
Oddly enough last night while making some pre-packaged ribs I also came to the realization that “honey garlic” sauce is a combination of both honey..and garlic..
Am I retarded?
No, just used to hearing it without putting much thought into it is normal.
Also, narrows refers to the parts of Burrard Inlet that are close together. Have you ever canoed Indian Arm? It is so beautiful. Once you get past the industrial parts leading up to it, that is. Nature is so goddamn awesome. It's why we live here. Then all hell breaks loose when a jet ski zooms by.
I haven't been to Indian Arm since I was a teenager. Is it still undeveloped?

I saw it and was thinking at the time he might take legal action. Up to this time, nobody knew his name. Now his name is going to be out there. Douchebag. I think a big part of the issue is that the in house security was useless and kind of “enabled” it to happen. Watching the videos the security either didn’t even react, or it was some fat fuck jogging at a pace that he would never catch up.

did you move? you should call CRA and see what the hold up is.
As of today, the days are going to get shorter. Then, before you know it, it'll be winter. First sign would be the PNE coming to town (rain). After that, the start of yet another stellar Canucks season, where we'll see so many miserable faces on transit and around the city for six months (most likely no longer than that). Thank god for christmas and New Years. Not looking forward to seeing the Tim Horton's, girl screaming at the sight of a maple leaf on the ground, ad. Yeah, I'm just an old miserable fart. Just a heads up. School zones are no longer in effect, because of summer vacation, but be aware of those few schools that are in summer session. Usually, there’s an additional sign below the school zone sign. It’ll read something like, “Summer School in Session.”

Anyone have experience with 24 Hour Collision Center on SE Marine Dr?
they got good reviews from google but my experience with them wasn't that great. they replaced my door completely and didn't do a good paint job around the mirror so i had to go back to them and wait another 2 days to fix a simple paint job. they somehow drained my battery and i couldn't start my car when i was driving away. possibly left my car turned on for some reason? and the craftsmanship around the edges of my window wasn't great either. could just be a one off? hope this helps a bit.

What do you all make of the accusations against Justin Trudeau of him 20 years ago for groping a reporter and his approach?
Preferential treatment for the elite?
20 years ago, standards were different?
It wasn't a position of power thing?
An apology the day after was sufficient for the offense committed?
Some other explanation?

What do you all make of the accusations against Justin Trudeau of him 20 years ago for groping a reporter and his approach?
I'm going to preface my response by saying that I dislike Trudeau. I didn't vote for him, I don't like him, and as much I want to laugh at how his smug "it's 2017" attitude is biting him in the ass....
What is happening to him makes me upset. I don't think anybody, even someone I disagree with as much as Trudeau, should be vilified in the court of public opinion and made to look like a monster over allegations that have not yet been substantiated. Especially over something that happened 20 years ago. I don't remember things I did 5 years ago, let alone 20. If someone tells me convincingly enough that I did X or Y, 20 years ago, I'd probably just agree, or say it never happened. Which would screw Trudeau over regardless of which way he answers.
I think of how the mere allegations against Patrick Brown lost him the PC race here in Ontario and it makes me scared. To this day, as far as I know the allegations have not yet been proven. But Brown's career is effectively kaput.
It makes me scared that anyone can just make allegations against someone and pretty much nuke their entire career, especially against higher-level people in both the private and public sectors.
And it seems to only target men. So I guess my answer is, even though I personally despise Trudeau, as a fellow male who worries about the way society is going these days, I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt and seen as innocent until the allegations against him are proven.

But hypocrisy would only exist if it was proven Trudeau did something wrong.
For example, I think car thieves are the scum of the earth. I think that car theft should be given tougher mandatory minimum sentences in court.
If you made a completely unfounded accusation that I stole your car 20 years ago with zero evidence to reinforce your claim, does that make me a hypocrite?

To be quite frank, I think the whole political correctness has gone too far.
I'm good with movements like #MeToo as it's doing the justice that these women deserve.
However, I'm tired of people trying to make a point on the slightest thing. A business serving women refuse to serve trans is discrimination, a bakery refusing to make cake for LGBT is discrimination... so on...
I mean, where does it end? We as a society need to educate our future generations about the meaning of these words and actions... and MOST IMPORTANTLY, why they became inappropriate. It's the motivation to use these words/phrases in an attempt to devalue or undermine a group of people in our society that's wrong... not the words. Just because a person never use any racial slur doesn't mean he/she isn't racist. In fact, it's such a hypocrisy.
We pretend discrimination doesn't exist because no one talks/act about it anymore?! More focus need to be on the preventative side rather than the conviction side.

Anyone tried the Aussie BBQ & Egg burger at McDicks? How was it?
I had one last Friday. It was decent. Was it worth the $10 for the meal? Maybe not. It's essentially a cheeseburger with the egg from an egg mc muffin...and well literally tastes like that.
Being a former Aussie, it doesn't really taste like burgers in Australia. They certainly don't use "beetroot chips" but rather actual beetroots (either fresh or canned variety) and straight up BBQ sauce and not the weird creamy BBQ they use here.
I honestly prefer the Pawer burger at Veras for a better representation of an Aussie style burger.

Every SkyTrain station has one, or would have one by now. And every new/replacement bus stop sign. And the SeaBus terminal. It doesnt even make sense. Say, if there was another competitor of a different name, then yes, T would make sense for marking these as "Translink". Should've instead been pictograms of the applicable transit service instead of the "T"
Why that big? It can only be seen from one direction, because the fucking skytrain structure and pillar covers it from every other angle, lol.

I decided to take a last minute trip to the Island earlier this week. For the Friday sailing all I could reserve was the 10:45pm from Tsawwassen to Duke Point. I would really like to get an earlier ferry, even if I have to wait a sailing or two at Horseshoe Bay.
My options are:
Tsawwassen:
- arrive by 6pm (the earliest I can get there after work and driving from Aldergrove) and attempt to catch the 8:15. If I miss it, I catch the 10:45 I reserved anyways.
Horseshoe Bay:
- possibly get off work early and arrive by 6pm to catch either the 7pm, 8pm, or 10:10pm ferries. I am much less familiar with this route and how many sailing waits there could be on a summer Friday.

I’m in the process of purchasing a Tacoma. The dealership that is local to me and that I would like to do business with does not have the spec I want in stock. But, another dealership does have one. Should I speak to my salesman about doing a dealer trade, or should i go directly to the other dealer?
I’m also unsure whether I should opt for the undercoat and rust inhibitor spray. I’m inclined to think it is just a dealer up sell but I would appreciate advice. I’ve never bought a new car before and the whole experience is a bit intimidating!

I tip 15% to our regular sushi place on phone orders. In the past, I've been a non-tipper for takeout, but my attitude has changed since I've learned that the kitchen staff usually gets a cut of the tips, too. If it's a regular place, it helps to establish a good relationship with them, and they'll seem to put some extra effort in making sure your order is done right. The place we order from will regularly give us freebies, like spring rolls.

new taco, a undercoat maybe worse by trapping in the moisture
I am pretty sure toyota has learnt frame rust protection on the taco the hard way. Also, rust warranty is basically life time and our conditions are not as bad as the prairies. Just do the AC drain hose mod and you should be fine. If you like your current dealer/sales, give them a chance... otherwise just head to the other dealer to get it. Tbh, toyota dealers don't really like to trade cars with each other.

FYI: On the Friday, several hours before my reservation at 10:45, there was a 2 sailing wait at HS Bay for all remaining sailings. I called and was told that even if I arrived at 6pm, I would likely not make any of the remaining sailings at 7, 8, and 10:10pm. . At Tsawwassen, I was told that even if I arrived at 5:45, I would still miss out on the 8:15 ferry, and have to take the 10:45. The advice given was to just chill out and take the 10:45 as reserved. Ended up only paying $59. I would guess the sailing was at about 50% of capacity. My son slept the whole time in the car and I was able to have a nap. Traffic from the terminal to Parksville was light, so I arrived much sooner than expected. I would recommend the last crossing if you are on a budget, have kids, and don't like the stress of traffic.

For those of you who take highway 1 everyday through Burnaby I've a question for you.
Why does the Burnaby lake area become so congested in the morning/after work times, 6-7 4-6? It clears up once you pass that little stretch there.
Kensington turn off combined with two on ramps just further down, plus bend in road. Need longer merge lanes and people learning how to drive and staying awake. It's like 264th in Langley......... well just about any area with merge lanes.
Add to that, chicken shit drivers. Noobs who can't read traffic more than two cars in front of them.
The other thing I should mention is people don't like anything west of Kensington, so they try to get off at Gaglardi or Kensington and head to Lougheed. Some people take the Government Road route of even up to SFU to go Hastings. With First Avenue basically closed, traffic is a bit of a nightmare the closer you get to Grandview Hwy exit. First Avenue is not that bad, as long as you don't get there via the freeway. Single lane traffic, but people are avoiding it like the plague, which helps. After rush hour, I take 1st Avenue and it's fast. The other day, I saw cops setting up shop at the park between Renfrew and Nanaimo. It's so easy to speed like hell through that stretch. First Ave is open from Gilmore to Nanaimo (single lane both directions). Side roads are an alternative. Right now, Broadway is almost as messed up as Grandview Hwy. I take Parker to Boundary then to First Avenue to Nanaimo, then north to Pender. Come out onto Hastings after the clusterfuck at Nanaimo.
Construction along Lougheed between Alpha? and Gilmore is nuts with ongoing construction, although it's hit and miss. Never know when they narrow shit down to one lane at Willingdon.
I love driving on Commercial now that nobody turns left or right at First Avenue.

But a law enforcement source told CBS News that Faisal Hussain visited Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) websites and may have expressed support for the terrorist group. There is no indication that Hussain was directed by ISIS to carry out the attack.

In September 2017 — after Farhad overdosed and left the home — firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide call at the same home and noticed a suspicious substance in the basement.
Durham Regional Police later obtained a search warrant and found 33 firearms, ammunition and more than 40 kilograms of the potentially lethal drug carfentanil.
In court documents, the street value of the drugs is estimated to be as much as $20 million.

Thanks

Depends how they were stored/cared for, and how cheap they are.

Bridgestone dm-v1. Says in excellent shape. I decided not to buy them. I googled old tires and it said Paul Walker's porche that crashed had 9 year old tires. I know I'm not driving a Porsche either but
That was enough for me to pass.

Maxine Bernier just handed Justin Trudeau an early present ... announced he will start a new party, split the right ... bingo, JT re-elected. Haven't the PC learned from their past?
Does anyone know what exactly is Conservative Libertarianism and how it is different than Conservatives?

How can I find out what type of rad cap I need for a rad that's no longer available? It's a Koyo for a 90-93 Celica Alltrac/GTFour (ST185).
Bouncing Bettys
08-27-2018, 05:57 PM
^Owner's Manual should tell you the psi cap needed. Too bad my ex threw out my all aluminum rad for my ST165 all trac - it wasn't cheap. It would probably have fit your 185 and included the proper cap.

I haven't got a manual for it unfortunately. I have a massive rad at the moment but I'm swapping to the Koyo since it looks more stock and will fit the stock fan, but the cap style is different. Trying to make it more appealing to buyers has been a pain in the ass.

No frills is ducking dirt ball, I went to the one at Hastings and Clark because I needed paprika to fend off skunks and figured I could gervolume for cheap. I wouldn’t go back there to buy anything.

A question for you car guys:
Is the thickness of the tire sidewall on a 245/45/17 similar to a 255/40/17???
Got some 245/45 on and I think it's too thick for my taste.
245*0.45 = 110.25 mm
255*0.4 = 102 mm

Thanks. I think that extra 8.25mm difference is quite a lot.

The other guy's damage:

This fucker was obviously distracted. The guy didn't even brake before impact. The tire-squealing I heard happened after. I saw the big-ass grill in my rear-view and was able to brace, but my wife got some injuries (no broken bones, though).

Might not be able to buff that one out. I put in a rear facing camera earlier this year, just in case something like this happens. Hope your back is okay

So my old ass Android 4.4 tablet is finally too slow to do shit after a good 6 years.
What's a good Android tablet for streaming? mostly freerange tv, dazn, amazontv, netflix etc.
Preferably around 200ish and something that'll last at least a couple of years.

Moving some stuff to PG.
I'll prob get rid of my accord (trans slipping).
I'm thinking of a couple of options here, flying into Vancouver, after my vacation.
Either pick up a decent 4x4 truck with a 8ft bed and canopy to move bedframe/mattress, etc.
Or Pickup a 4runner or something like that, hitch a Uhaul (+245 cost).
Rather not keep the car, I'd like to do some nice hikes, off roading for the fishing spots, etc.

Anyone here ever report a noncompliant airbnb/short term rental issue to the City of Vancouver and Airbnb?
My neighboring home is currently unoccupied and listed FOR SALE online, but they are renting out the laneway house on airbnb.

Since traffic was pretty much stop and go on my 14km commute home on the Fraser hwy, I decided to play spot the distracted driver. 15 instances, almost all while their vehicle was at speed, including one girl who was applying eyeliner or curling her eyelashes. 1/3 had their phone clearly visible while many were looking down at their lap or down towards the center.
Staggered wheels on an AWD but a square tire setup.. Yay or nay? 8j and 9j on 245s. My guess is that it's ok, but it'll tend to ndersteer?
